unfortunately was in tonight so have to update the fritters and chips we're green still had alot of skin on dirty black bits eyes etc and tasted disgusting server had a runny nose and kept wiping it.on her sleeve put food in bucket around the corner will give a wide berth now I think used to be a great chippy maybe been took over or something has defo changed

Food was absolutely top-notch. Best batter I've ever had on fried food. It was so crispy and crumbly. It's very clean inside the shop. However, they don't ever answer the phone, so you can't order ahead. They're not on Just eat, There's a really limited menu online, but when you go into the shop, it's a completely different menu. When you ask them for a menu, they don't have any to give to customers. Staff are friendly enough though.

Far from the best, no idea how it’s up for an award. Chips were not that fresh, dirty oil? Left too long? Wrong potato? Had a burnt been in the oven too long taste. Fish okay Black pudding very dry

Definitely won't be going back to this place £10.80 for 2 portions frozen chips and mushy peas. Those chips were definitely frozen and hard and tasted like refried 🤮

Drive over from Edinburgh, well worth it food great all cooked while you wait not lying in a hotplate for hours , drive over regularly we'll worth it

2 portions of fish and chips (takeaway) purchased 09/10/24 with one tub of curry sauce to share. Chips - Tasteless. They were very obviously re-heated or re-cooked because they were very hard and could possibly have been warmed up, from being cooked already, frozen chips. Fish - Mine was ok. Fish cooked nicely with crunchy batter evenly coated. One and a half pieces of fish per portion of fish and chips at £10.50 a pop was not good value given the size of the fish pieces. The grease in the box was phenomenal My partner was violently sick and threw the fish up during the night although he didn't detect anything wrong when he was eating but he did eat far more of his chips than I could manage. The curry sauce didn't go far over mine after putting a hearty amount over my partners therefore I can't comment on it apart from that because a few of the tasteless chips absorbed it making them appear to taste better. Won't be back!

Imries Fish Bar is always a winner when it's chippy for dinner. I have eaten here for years. Staff are on the ball , coming customer side to take your order so it's ready as you reach the checkout. Shop looks fantastic since it's refurb , clean & hygienic. Fully recommend you try

4 x haddock suppers in my group. We all enjoyed the crispy batter and lovely fish. Chips were good too. The portion sizes are large and we all struggled to finish. A long queue for food, and it took 20 minutes to get our suppers, otherwise a perfect post golf meal - we will be back.

We had been to Imries before and craved tasting their chips again. We had heard about their Stornaway Black Pudding suppers and decided to go and try them. Word of warning - the portions are huge! We thought the black pudding would be smalled pieces in batter - however, they were discs and each supper had several of these as well as a stack of chips! It was good - however, I would pick something else next time. I do enjoy/love the chips here. Next time I'll try a smoke sausage rather than the black pudding. We couldn't finish our supper - as we would say around here "it was hard going", so perhaps share or ask for a smaller portion for us on our next visit

3/8/24 between one & 1/2 past. After reading a lot of exceptional reviews, I decided to find out for myself if they were true. I/we got the bus 🚌,.. at leven & popped in for a small breaded 🐠 supper & my friend Janie had the battered 🐟 one & it was true that the batter was nice & crisp & my small fish was a good enough size & it didn't have those thick ruff breadcrumbs on it. He used the more smoother ones the PANKO & maybe 🤔 that's why some folks complain of the higher price BUT it's well worth it. NOW on to the fluffy chips - a very few reports stated they were a bit dry WELL to me their better that way than being soggy & greasy & tasting of rancid oil - but that's maybe how some folks would like them - but not 4 me! By here, their were plenty of chips piled on my small special fish supper. It's mainly true what many reviewers state about the PLEASANT staff being friendly. I only met 2 of them & the young girl who was behind the counter was nice enough, but wasn't exuberant with her welcome - like - Hi guys what would you like today? BUT when the fish fryer appeared -- it was like night & day He was smiling 😊 & very friendly & easy to talk to. So in you, or all of u go & remember you can't sit in - it is for carry outs only. PS. Sorry no photos were taken. We just took them to the prom. & sat there & ate the lot & managed to keep the seagulls away.

More expensive than London. Chips were limited in portion size. I will use alternative outlets in future. Waited 20 minutes to receive food after order so not exactly a speedy service either

What a let down. Firstly the fish was great as usual but the chips were disgusting. Skin on and all black bits on dry potatoes. Not worth over a tenner for a supper. Get some decent tatties people.

Superbly cooked fish. Nice light batter, couldn't be better. Chips good, not too greasy. However, only four stars because for £10.20 for a fish supper, I would have expected two fillets of fish, not one fillet and another small piece on top.

Go where the locals eat! We were touring the east cost of Scotland and stopped in St Andrews. Looking for a restaurant we saw a long line at Imrie’s and went there. The fish and chips were the best- made to order and not oily. I graded them down a little in service because no one told us where the end of the line went and how to order, so it took us a little while to figure it out. Also, no seating to eat so we had to eat in the car.

I decided to drive here rather than Anstruther as it’s basically the same distance. I made the correct decision as this is a fabulous place for fish and chips, not greasy and I like the way they work very hard to move the queue along very quickly, unlike other places! I highly recommend and you can park outside and my husband walked the dog on the promenade as we waited!

Fish was very good ,however 6 pounds for one small single fish and 1 and a half pieces for a large at 8 pounds.....thought it was very expensive compared to other "chippys"

Went recently for the first time. Excellent fish and chips, and I'm from Anstruther !.

This was my go to chippy since opening in the local area. A few things are stopping me from returning in the future. - £34 for two suppers two juice, a single fish & sauce🤨 your actually more expensive than the costal chip shops now. The quality of the fish has reduced and is now thinner smaller pieces with mostly batter. It is a Much smaller portion now. You can’t pre-order even during the last hour so be prepared to wait up to 20 minuets outside. It’s a shame that being the beach located chip shop there isn’t a better ordering system. Counter staff didn’t take my order down correctly either which I’m glad I noticed at the salt & sauce stage.

Went along last Friday from Kirkcaldy, fish supper and single breaded fish top quality everytime we've been.

I have been on a month long visit of Wales, England, and Scotland, and I have tried lots of fish and chips. This was by far the absolute best fish and chips of the trip, and I would even go so far as to say one of the best ever. The batter on the fish was cooked to perfection, giving a wonderful crispness while not being oily. On arriving at the shop, I was slightly concerned about the wait as the line was huge, but I also assumed that was a good sign of quality. The staff were super in how they took orders down the line so that cooking could be started promptly, so the wait was not long at all. I have worked in restaurants earlier in life and was particularly impressed with the efficiency with which everyone worked.

Excellent fish and chips .. the batter is light and crisp, and the chips freshly made .. one of the best fish and chip meals that I have tasted.. well worth a visit.

The fish was very tasty, the breading was crispy and lightly seasoned. The fries and curry sauce were very good. You can understand why there was an award in 2023.

We preordered for 20 people for a family gathering: a mix of fish suppers white pudding suppers, macaroni balls, curry sauce, mushy peas. All delicious and generous portion size. All ready for pick up at 7.30pm as planned and well-packaged. Really friendly and helpful service. Imrie’s came highly recommended by family members and I can see why! Thank you for the fantastic service!

Hands down the best chippy in the area. Been a fan of Imries since 2018 and I won’t settle for anywhere else. It can be busy at peak times but the food is well worth the wait. The battered fish & chips are incredible as is the Stornaway black and white pudding fritters. Great job guys!

Arrived peak time, very hungry. What a spotless, well organised place this is. Staff were excellent and the fish and chips was perfect. The batter was as good as I’ve ever had. It’s up there for me with the best chippies I’ve been to. Seriously impressed.

Don't expect quail's eggs and French wine, obviously. You queue up for great chips. And/or battered fish. They have haggis.

Food is so amazing, the few times we have been there the service and food have been top notch. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality.

Fish and chips today, around 12-30. My wife was first in i think, what a class fish supper and a single fish we had. We sat at the sea front with them. Fresh and piping hot. We will be back. 5***** 👍👍👍👍👍

We were hungry, we were about to embark on a long journey, and we were looking for value for money. We are no longer hungry, we are on our way feeling energised, we are delighted with the quality food at great prices. We are planning another visit next time we are up there.

Looked a good chippy with a massive queue but a rather strange way of ordering. Unfortunately when we got the food it was hard to understand why it was so popular. The chips were awful, dry and tasteless. We'd asked for vinegar on them but it was hard to detect any at all. The buttered roll it must have been the smallest scraping of butter possible. All and all a disappointment

One of the worse fish suppers I have had out here it was one and half bits of fish the fish was small and was covered in to much batter which was very greasy. Not worth £23 for 2 suppers and 2 tins of juice will try somewhere else next time I think

Collected our fish and chips at 17.50 today, after a stressful day and no time to cook I was looking forward to a tasty fish supper. This is definitely the most Disappointing, Disgusting fish supper I have ever had! The fish batter was saturated with fat, the chips tasted awful and at £14.50 in total , a rip off ! If it wasn't such a hassle they would have definitely been returned!

Watch out. Whilst still good quality, prices have increased hugely. It will be interesting to see if they come down again when energy costs decrease. Not impressed.

Excellent fish and chips freshly prepared to order. We went just after lunchtime so were prepared for the dreaded soggy chips but shouldn’t have worried as the chips were perfect. 10 minute wait for the fish to fry always preferred to the fish sat waiting under the hot lamps.

No wonder they were voted best fish shop. Absolutely spotless and staff were so helpful. Well content and full as a puggy

It’s very crowded and has a long wait. The batter of the fish was not up to my taste. I have had far better fantastic fish and chips in Scotland **edited with 1 star and wish I could give no stars. Had an utterly horrible experience. Ordered a supper and for 8.50, I got one tiny rudimentary strip of fish with absolutely tasteless batter and one piece of fish that seemed large but was made in such a clever way that it was MAJORITY batter and hardly any fish. The chips were reheated for sure and very tasteless and I asked for salt on the fish which was massively ignored. We realized this when we reached home and there was no time to go back but if I noticed it before, I’d have returned the fish, they could keep the money. Felt like such an insult We used to drive all the way from Dunfermline to have the fish which I actually recommended to some friends but now feeling very shameful. Vowed never ever to return. Waste of time, waste of money, definitely waste of petrol. If u can’t keep ur reputation up then close the shop but pls don’t make someone’s day horrible 🙏🏼

I'm not the one for leaving reviews on Google, but I must say I was very impressed with Imries! First time experiencing it and wow, delicious fish! Probably the only fish I have ever tasted in Fife that is actually crispy with light batter. Most of the other chip shops I've been to had fish that was either soggy or chewy. This one was not the case! Chips were really nice too. I've given it a four stars instead of five because I felt the fish was rather small for a single fish supper. Other than that it tasted absolutely fine. Would definitely recommend Imries chip shop!

Visited after work about 8pm ordered 2 regular chips. They were terrible complete reheats overcooked look warm and thouroughly inedible. Sorry not your best every customer even late ones pay the same price and shoukd have fresh food. Waste of £5 .

I would say the best chipshop in Levenmouth hands down.

Yesterday I had a battered haddock supper and I have to say......fantastic. Excellent price ...crispy batter, fresh fish and top notch chips. Can't fault anything from the friendly staff to the well cooked supper. One thing I will do next time is pre-order for collection which they recommend on the website as it can be busy. Saying that I didn't have to wait long. 👏👏👏 Update....another top notch supper at Imries. Now taking orders in the shop.
