Excellent service friendly staff, fantastic food

Brilliant food and drinks are super! Have been back many times and still excellent. It is a country pub big portions with great staff. Can get very busy during the summer so book before hand.

I've been coming here for years and never had a bad meal but unfortunately today I did. I ordered the jalfrezi and it was so sweet and gloopy. It didn't taste homemade either. The drinks were good though.

I rang the dolphin at pretty short notice hoping to see if they could accommodate a group of 14 ( family ) ,, they fitted us in no problem at a time convenient for them and for my group ,, upon our arrival we were greeted with a large table all set out with exactly 14 seats ,,,the whole group had nothing but good words for the food, the service and the whole experience , meals varied from various burgers , fish and chips and Sunday roast ,, their wasn't 1 complaint from anyone at all ,, well done Dolphin Inn ,, and thank you ,,

Booked a table for 6 of us (4 Adults & 2 Children) and we arrived at around 5pm yesterday ordering 5 starters.... only 3 came out of the kitchen after waiting almost an hour for them... when mentioned to the waitress we were missing starters she said "you'd only ordered 3..." I looked at her gomelessly to say well considering I'd wrote a list on my phone of what we were all having and knew full well what I had ordered... anyway, the waitress goes to the chef to see if 2 more portions of garlic mushrooms can be made up, she comes back and states its another 20 minutes wait "forget it.. your service is abysmal!" We all ordered steak and the sauces were wrong.... I also ordered a side in which AGAIN never turned up! Absolutely SHOCKING service and attitude to paying customers.. considering the bill still cost £160 and quite frankly half of the meal was completely wrong... Absolutely ZERO attempt to put anything right, half the waitresses look asif they don't really want to be there... the place looked dirty & run down. Overall most certainly will not be returning it's was absolutely dreadful and I wouldn't mind but good money was paid... the standard wasn't delivered.

Visited for third time tonight we travel from Lytham and the two previous times enjoyed the visits,but tonight a terrible exsperience, the two starters took one hour to be served,also the salt and pepper chicken had been cooked in old oil ,my wife is a chef, and it was a full 90 minutes from our arrival that the mains arrived.By that time we just wanted to leave so I paid the bill and left. So sad it was a place we recommended to so many of our friends. B

Ordered two mains fish and chips nothing to complicated and after waiting an hour and a half for food to arrive I had to ask how much longer we would be waiting eventually 15 minutes later the food arrived which was actually pretty good but no explanation or apologies on why it took so long. I wouldn’t have minded if at the time of ordering they would have explained for whatever reason there would be a wait. The place wasn’t busy. Communication with customers goes a long way to avoid negative reviews and we won’t be returning

Good quality food and drink at sensible prices.

We came here on our bikes, we were waiting 50 minutes for our food and it took to long. So we left, not happy with the service. I won’t be going back.

Waited 50 minutes for salad and halloumi fries. Had to ask the waitress twice where the food was to be told that they were busy. However when we arrived the bar and “restaurant” were empty, so clearly they had forgotten our order. Eventually I cancelled it and went to the chippy in Longton. No idea what the food was like, so can’t comment on that.

Great location. Excellent quality- big portions reasonably priced food. Delighted

All the food was good except for the pizza 🍕 🤮.

Sunday lunch, literally the worst I've ever had. Cold, dry & tasteless. Most carveries do it better.

A little out of the way but worth the detour. Nice friendly staff. Reasonably large menu with lots of options. Good food.

Experience here was nice. Wait for food was long today, but expected and they seemed understaffed. All the front of house staff were brilliant and were constantly running around but still made sure you had what you needed. Some of the meals were better than others, but overall tasty and worth the price for the portions. Halloumi fries were very tasty!

Excellent food, friendly staff and set in a beautiful place

The food here is great and the portions are greater. One picture is the ploughman's lunch, and the other is a hunters chicken. The food is fresh and tasty and the service was good.

The Dolphin Inn is a popular pub with locals. Sometimes called The Fish. It has a restaurant serving excellent local fresh produce. I remember going here as a child waiting outside for our drink and a bag of salt n’ vinegar in the 1970s. I have been going regularly since we moved back to the area and would recommend this place strongly.

Cosy country pub & function room.

Over 1 hour wait for the food to arrive, when it did the waitress couldn't even put the plates in front of the correct person. Had to clean and straighten the fork as it looked as if it had been wedged under a door at some point. My food wasn't hot. Lemonade flat. Big portions.

Always great food, great service. Fish and chips are HUGE. Most portions are HUGE!

Went for a family meal,,,, the food ordered was pretty good to be fair however the Sunday roast was very disappointing, Everyone recieved only 2 roast potatoes, the trio of meats was very small portioned over cooked and generally not great, Left still feeling hungry,,,, just not how the roast used to be, Found staff pretty unhelpful, not a great deal of manners and it can't even be said it was because they was rushed of there feet as it wasn't in the slightest busy, This place just isn't what it used to be unfortunately,,, for the price paid the other options at sister venues are more appealing and far better

A standard pretty little country pub that does everything okay-kokay, but no great shakes. The food menu is a little old fashioned 1980s, but if that is what you are after, then bring the family. Lacks oldie worldly charm and sumptuous real cask ales. A decent enough family country pub and fayre.

Not like it was. Food OK whereas before excellent. Portion size very disappointing. Charging the same for less portion size not right. Go back to the old days and value for money please.

Went for my birthday,food was excellent as was the service,and the fact there were 17 of us,to bring out all the food at the same time was an achievement. Well done Chef!!

Friendly and pleasant staff and always top quality delicious food, would encourage anyone to visit this lovely pub. The burgers , roast dinners, puddings and chilli are amazing, all for a reasonable price too.

Another excellent meal in one of our favourite pubs. Great staff and excellent to food. Good selection of real ale and this pub has a cosy fireside where you can warm up on a cold night.

Fabulous wood fire adds to a great atmosphere

I ordered the gammon meal and lets just say they might as well bring the dirty fat it was cooked in! I literally poured a small glass of fat off my plate into a glass. The chips were also saturated in fat... This should be called the heart attack meal. And when i looked closer there were 2 black hairs on my plate. Ewww the cheeky buggers even charged me for the pint of coke i drank with no food. I recommend a new chef and possibly management! And most of all they need a new way of cooking IE a grill or oven. Very disappointed

I recommend everyone never to go to that restaurant again..because I got food poison the burger was raw.. I had diarrhoea for a week and 2 days... and my husband ask for cranberry source but the waitress bring it him eventhough he asked 4 times and he waited 29 minutes for the sauce and he asked again but the waitress didn't come.. also the food took 30 minutes to cook... I could I would rate this restaurant 0 ☆ a waste of money and it was 34 pounds 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Friendly staff, great service and lovely food.

Found this place on a 'free to park' campervan app as I needed to be in Blackpool early the next day. Whilst campervan parking isn't allowed in the actual car park to the pub there is plenty of space on the nearby hard standings. A super friendly traditional local with a real fire and superb food. I had homemade chicken Kiev - a 30 min wait is specified in the menu as it is cooked to order. It was beautiful. I will definitely be back. Can't recommend this out of the way, well hidden gem enough. Wookiee.

Absolutely gorgeous. Had a meal with 8 people and we all ordered different things and every meal was done really well. Large portion sizes and a huge variety of meal. Great service and reasonable prices. Would go again

We went for a meal here and we were put in the conservatory which was too hot and uncomfortable to enjoy a meal . We ordered fish and chips the fish was very greasy with an unpleasant after taste . In my opinion put in fryer which was too cold so batter absorbed the grease . Chips were obviously frozen and lacked flavour . Mushy peas were great . Atmosphere of the restaurant was fine although some waiting on staff looked like they just wanted to go home . We didn't stay for dessert couldn't find anything for a vegan . Probably wont return .

Family meal on a Sunday. Good staff and nice food. Great choice on the menu, especially if you like burgers. Huge choice of types of burgers. Kids loved it.

The Dolphin Inn is a fantastic place to eat. It is a bit of a drive for us but we love to go for family meals here, there is plenty to chose from on the menus, so everyone is happy. The food is delicious, I have never ordered something I haven’t liked. Portion sizes are great too. The prices are fair for what you get. Inside is lovely and cozy.. the large conservatory is great all times of the year, especially in the summer with the doors open. The staff are always helpful and polite. A really nice place to eat, I already recommend to everyone I get chance to!

Attended a function here. The staff were lovely & the food was really nice. It might not look too great to some but just for the staff & food it's definitely worth a visit.

Visited on a quiet evening. Had Mixed Grill. Enormous amount of excellent food.

Remote country pub. Hard to find but it's worth trying. Large car park, two bars, TV and pool table. The food is the reason it's so popular. Varied menu, some items expensive like T bone steak at 25£ but inexpensive items too . I recommend the cottage pie, 12.50, with cheesy mash, chips, two veg and bread and butter. Definitely not a snack! Staff friendly (hi).

A lovely meal with my daughter and grandchildren, the meals at the Dolphin are always hearty and delicious.

Cold Friday lunchtime. Nice and warm which you don’t find in a lot of pubs. Great landlady who showed us to a table, took our drinks order, gave us menus, took the order and served the meals. Quite a few customers so we had to wait about thirty minutes. Well worth the wait. Two meals, one scampi and chips with a little salad, bread and butter, Wife enjoyed but prefers it on a plate not a board. Mine arrived on a very large plate which had a full rack of ribs with five coated chicken wings , chips ,salad, bread and butter. For me the perfect pint of cask beer. Great lunchtime in a warm comfortable pub with great landlady.

Love this place, the food is fantastic, a bigger burger menu you won't find!!! And pies to die for. I had the black and blue burger and hubby had the steak and ale pie. Both delicious. We sat in the bar with the roaring fire. Could have stayed all afternoon. Dog friendly too 🙂

Sunday lunch was good & pre-booking is advisable. 2 real ales were available although one had seen better days but other was OK. Longton Marsh is close by for walkers.

Stopped off at the Dolphin Inn after a sundays hike around the area. Meal was lovely and the staff were very welcoming and service was excellent. Recommended. Tip. If you visit around 3 ish you miss the lunch and early evening queues.

I haven't been for years and I would say I will be back more often as the food, atmosphere and staff are all good and I would deffinatley recommend The Dolphin the little pub next to the Marsh and the location ain't bad either.
