We were going to get lunch here but didn’t stay as the place looked like it could have done with a good clean …the cider was good couldn’t fault that and the other half had a beer which also was good . But being in the hospitality trade for over 40 years if you can’t keep the bar and lounge areas clean …I’m not going to chance the kitchen !

Popped in for a quick drink. Staff very friendly and met a few of the locals who were chatty. Dog friendly inside nd out and they serve food most days (which we will definitely revisit to try) Seating indoors and out the back. Some free parking spaces, customer toilets, children welcome and disabled access. Prices much the same as other pubs. Located in a small village near the beach and local walks so great place for a quick stop off if in area. The only thing it is lacking is, it looks a bit tired and tatty. Could do with brightening up inside a bit and new garden furniture as its looking a bit rotten. Hopefully the owners will invest in this pub to keep it the hub of the village.

This has been taken over by new owners in the autumn, as we live in Wales we only come over occasionally. However we managed to book Sunday lunch on mother's day. They were fully booked by the time we arrived. The meal was excellent we will be using this place through the summer when we are passing. And they sell Stella. The service was great even though they were under pressure. Only suggestion I would like to make, is there any chance of a cheesecake on the sweets menu please!

We had homemade pizza and handcut chips here, absolutely loved it. A family took this place over in September, they are very hardworking and great attention to detail on the food side. Also do fish and chips on a Friday, and Sunday lunches which I haven't had yet. However I sat next to someone else having Sunday lunch, and my tummy was rumbling, it was very busy but all served efficiently and with a smile!! Best of luck to the new family, really hope they stay x

Ordered 3 meal items and unhappy with all of them and like it or lump it attitude of staff. 1) Bacon egg n chips £7 - scorched fried egg & only one slice bacon (rather tight?) 2) goujons, coleslaw & salad. Arrived with no coleslaw - they didn't have any, 2 lettuce leaves & slice of tomato 3) sticky toffee pudding- it wasn't. It was cupcake sized sponge cake with treacle topping. We visited the Dolphin yesterday after a walk in Uphill to view the Scarecrow festival. It was busy, but they were well set up for social distancing. The tables were well spaced with screens between them and screens at the bar. They also had a one way system clearly marked on the floor and 3 hand sanitiser stations throughout the indoor areas. There are plenty of tables outside and this is where we sat as it was lovely weather. We were greeted with a friendly welcome from the staff and asked to sign in the track & trace record. We ordered our drinks and meals, Cod & Chips and a Ploughmans for One. we were told that there would be a wait for the meals and this was fine as we could see that quite a few other customers had also ordered food. When the meals arrived they were worth the wait! The beer battered cod & chips was one of the best I've tasted and the ploughmans was also lovely, with a great selection of cheese and cold meats. They also have 3 real Ales, I had a pint of Otter and was very impressed as in my experience real Ales are something that many pubs find difficult to get right! Thank you for a lovely lunch, we will definitely be back.

Stopped st this place after doing the scarecrow run with kids. Ordered Sunday roast and kids meals. Told there would b a bit of delay which was ok but well over an hour and half later they bring our food. By this time kids were starving. All the roast dinners were stone cold - meat, veg, gravy you name it, it was cold. Kids meals were warm enough for them to dive right in. Should have complained about the food, but kids starving and we would probably have had to wait even longer. Cost us nearly £80, complete waste of money. Never again, feel robbed.

We visited when the pub had had a chef recruitment issue and had just reopened on the wednesday. I had the ploughman's board (an oval plate) which was ok. I had asked for extra brie instead of stilton but extra cheddar was given and the brie was ripe (which I happen to like). The bread was a warm, finish in the oven small baguette. There were three different pickles provided. My partner had the mediterrannean tart which had a crisp pastry base and and the vegatables were tomatoes dominant and slightly mushy. Will revisit again to see if this is the standard quality as I had expected better from other reviews and photos. The pub had a well organised Covid safety procedure and we were told that serving staff would wear masks if requested.

We were staying two night at the Uphill Marine Campsite which is a five minute walk from this lovely pub. Our first night there was meant to be just a drink but we ended up joining in the weekly pub quiz which was really hard but great fun. We were made to feel really welcome by both the pub staff and the locals and when one on the darts team brought around a platter of chips and then sandwiches which were left over, we felt very much included. It was a lovely evening. We also enjoyed a lunchtime meal with some friends who live locally and enjoyed freshly cooked fish and chips, ham, egg and chips and omelette and chips. All of these were beautifully cooked and the ham was delicious. Again, the staff were very friendly, making a fuss of our friends' dog. There's a lovely wood burning stove and a bowl of water for any dog in need right by the fire. Uphill is really lucky to have such a gem of a pub!

They had two screens in one bar with different games on (one for each eye?). The TV's were in no way obstructive and the other bar had a open fire and I thought one of the dogs sitting by it was going to burn it's nose on it! Seven of us ordered lunch here, and the food came out in four parts. it seems the kitchen can only cope with two meals at a time. My wife and I ordered burgers, which came with chips. The beef burger was overcooked and the veggie burger was good. The chips were just awful, inedible with a strange taste. When the waitress came to clear the plates she never asked if we were satisfied with our meal. We asked what oil the chips were cooked in and she said it was sunflower. We use this at home for all cooking and nothing has ever tasted like this. We suspect, and this is our opinion, that the oil was old or not hot enough.Even when we pointed this out the waitress did not seem at all bothered about the fact we had left the chips virtually uneaten. If the food had been of a higher standard the price would be justified, but for the quality we received it was well overpriced. The brioche buns were soft and fresh though.

Popped in on off chance exploring the village and looking for scarecrows. Friendly, interesting place. Had a bit to eat, sharing a ploughmans for two: yum

Pretty average Costa, but if you’re coming to work on a laptop or need to charge your phone forget it - just one socket in the whole place

Best pub I've ever been with my dog, they love dogs here, everyone was really friendly, and made a big fuss of our dog, treats, doggy bags, and water supplied, great little pub.

Great coffee shop in a great location looking out on the marina, on a nice day it can get very busy! As with all Costa, it's quite expensive but you do get decent food and drink. The lemon drizzle cake is amazing! Nice that you can get a free drink every now and then if you use the Costa app to collect points.

Not eaten here but it has a lovely atmosphere for a few pints. Plenty of good ales and ciders on offer.

A large area in Waterstones is occupied by this cafe. Lovely coffee and very good selection of cakes and snacks, counter service but very helpful with older customers. Great friendly staff and moderate prices - very popular with the locals.
