Pre arranged lunch after a walking tour of the school on Harrow Hill. Light meal with wine served by excellent staff and even though we were a crowd, all sat down together and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Shocking, went in at 4.20pm to be greeted by a lady jumping up from her phone to simple state, we close at 5, not welcoming. We were only in for a quick soft drink on a break from a walk so ordered anyway, £13.50 for two milkshakes that were bland in flavour and lacking any care. I’d of been better off going to the shop and buying something there. To top it off, whilst drinking our drinks, two lads came out and starting clearing the tables inside around us and eyeballing us as if to hurry us up. We won’t be returning.

Stopped at the Dolls House on a nice Tuesday morning hoping to have a coffee only to be met by a very grumpy unwelcoming member of staff. When we asked for two coffees we were told we could have coffee, but would need to vacate the table after 1/2 hour because we were not having food. I could have accepted this if the cafe was busy but there was only a few people in and no reserved signs on any of the tables. Not sure if we were not the demographic they wanted in or this was a ploy to get us to spend more. The staff member will be glad to hear we won’t be back.

Decor not to my taste but our two breakfasts, which included tea/coffee, for £13 each, were absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and the place was warm and a welcome respite from the arctic conditions on the hill outside. It was very quiet but I suspect that was because the school Is closed for holidays.

Cute and quaint charming atmosphere. But the food quality is highly overrated for the price which is very expensive. Would advise against going for food as it is very expensive for the quality and service. Style over content. Tea and coffee is fine.

Places struggled obviously, and are recovering. I get that. Coffee here was so-so, and matching central London prices at the more artisanal places, serving much better coffee. Service was efficient but could have been warmer. Quality/Price ratio not too sure on, but deserves another chance as a local place.

Hands down the best tuna melt I've had in my life. Beautifully crispy wholemeal toast, perfect tuna / mayo / cheese ratio. Delicious juicy sweetcorn. If Michelin starred restaurants did tuna melts they'd look and taste like this one. Truly scrumptious.

Lovely little spot at the top of the hill. Staff were friendly and accommodating, covid measures were in place with regards to sanitisers, social distancing and masks. Most importantly food was delicious as well as the cakes and fresh juices to boot. Happy to support small local businesses and this one is a treasure, maybe a little pricey would be the only small note.

Was taken here for a birthday cream tea. What a lovely cosy place with really nice staff. They also catered very well for my vegetarian needs while others had the regular sandwiches. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were all amazing, and freshly prepared to perfection. Bottomless tea ensured it all went down very well. I won’t need any dinner tonight. I strongly recommend this place to others and hope to return to try the rest of the menu at some point (especially the crepes!).

We came in for lunch. The soup was unusual, carrot and star anise from memory, it was very tasty and warming though would have been a bit spicy for some. I had a very decent cappuccino and a piece of their homemade blackberry cake. All in all very nice but rather pricey. A jacket potato is nearly £10 and a cooked breakfast is £11!

My friend and I spontaneously visited the Dolls House cafe expecting an extravagantly Georgian themed cafe, however, we were underwhelmed as soon as we walked in. My friend ordered one of the savoury pancakes which was overpriced at £12.50!!! And I ordered a toastie which happened to arrive soggy and tasteless which I politely mentioned it to the waitress serving us and afterwards made comments under her breath which was unprofessional. However, on a more positive note; I ordered a cream tea after the toastie was sent back which was yummy. The scone was very fresh and warm on arrival. If the lady serving us wasn’t so abrupt after I politely mentioned the soggy bread, I would definitely return in the future. The concept of the cafe is great, however; the execution, not so much.

A nice little place for taking tea, having a scone or afternoon tea. Service is good, you can sit outside or in, and it is a relaxed atmosphere. Beat to book as they are busy and popular and it’s not large premises. Very nice hot chocolate and mocha. The mix-matched crockery and old-world charm is ideal in the setting of Harrow in the hill. Recommend.

Visited here this morning with my mum for a special birthday breakfast. Thinking that because it was more expensive than the average price for a good breakfast in the area, it would be special...I WAS WRONG it was awful! OVER PRICES RUBBISH! And the service didn’t make it any better. We both had full English at £11 each. The mushrooms were over cooked and burnt making them dry and the sourdough bread smothered in margarine (Weather I wanted it or not), the bacon overcooked and hard. It was not a memorial breakfast. Maybe the addition of a tomato would have helped. Coffees average yet over priced at £3 each. Staff made it feel unwelcoming and an unfriendly atmosphere. Complained about the mushrooms, had to ask for them to be replaced. They took so long to come, that by that point we had given up on our breakfast. Manager not interested in the fact that we went happy, we weren't offed any discount or an apology, were told we still had the £29. Felt ripped off. I asked for a discount, staff had to go and ask the manager again for a discount, she wasn’t happy at all and after some convincing reluctantly gave us 15% off the bill. I said why not just give us the drinks for free. She seemed to have no idea about customer service. Paid £12 each and still felt ripped off. Won’t ever go back here. Awful money grabbing place with no idea how to deal with mistakes, which of course happen now and again, but if dealt with well customers will still leave happy. Not in this case!

I can only assume the management has changed, as I used to enjoy eating here but that has changed. Visited today with a friend, who had pancakes which she enjoyed. I wanted to have tea and an egg mayo sandwich - typical afternoon tea fare. I was told that was not on the menu. So I suggested bring me a boiled egg and mayonnaise. That was a problem, let's be honest how diffcult could that be? The staff were very friendly overall. The lady who I presumed was the manager less so.I would not visit again, and would no longer recommend. Usually staff want to bend over backwards to accommodate patrons, in particular when it is something simple. This place used to exude lots of charm, which sadly is now missing.

The trouble with this place is that it is nothing special. Without the eat out to help out discount I would have felt rather ripped off. We arrived at 4pm, told the kitchen closed at 4.30pm so couldn't have afternoon tea.So ham and cheese toast with two sides. I opted for crisps and coleslaw, both seems a little merge. I often come to the dolls house with family and friends but today’s trip was terrible. My boyfriend and I came in for a nice breakfast and ordered scrambled egg on toast with sausage and pancakes with lemon and sugar. We waited for about 15 minutes for our order to be taken and then over an hour for our food. After an hour a waitress came over and said our food will be ready in 2 minutes. 10 minutes later a different waitress came over and said that our food would be 5 more minutes. After this time we decided to pay for our drinks and leave without our food. Very disappointed.

Having read the previous ghastly and entitled review (which hopefully is removed by now as it contains language not welcome in 2020), I felt I had to review this place as a regular customer who visits at least once or twice a week. The Doll's House has had an entirely welcome change of ownership and management in the last 18 months and is getting stronger by the day. You are welcomed by the Manager, offered a choice of seating, get to choose from a vast and diverse menu, catering to many dietary requirements. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and Covid compliant. There are tables outside for a sunny day. Coffee and drinks are excellent and tasty. With Prosecco served, there isn't much more you could ask for. On an area for improvement, longer opening hours would be welcomed but my understanding is this is down to Harrow council's restrictions rather than the proprietor's choice. If it opened earlier, I would be here for breakfast every day!

Mediocre high tea. The scones were very dry. I asked them for egg free cakes which they charged £28 each for rather then £22.95 for as they said the chef would have to especially bake them but for the price the cakes did not taste that great. There was banana cake and chocolate cake. The sandwiches were just ok. They took a deposit at booking and then emailed all these t&cs. In the plus side we did get good table service, they sat us at the back where we had a good view of harrow and kept checking to see if we needed anything.

This is a nice place for tea, cake and lunch. Due to its location its predictably full of ladies who lunch, over-privileged people linked to Harrow School, tourists who think this is how English people really eat and locals who want a nice posh tea. It was a bit average and disorganised a few years back and has got its act together now and is suitable now very busy. Food and drink always seems to take longer than it should to arrive and is ridiculously over-priced for the area but people who come have the money so why not fleece them (£4 a slice of cake and £10+ for any kind of eggs on a muffin. Having said that, its a nice and quaint if slightly cliched ambience and the clientele and staff are all very nice so a nice environment and the food is nice. Best time to come might be during a lazy sunday lunchtime walk.

This is a really cute little cafe, perched on upon Harrow on the Hill but the food is absolutely awful. The manager/owner seriously needs to carry out quality control; you are ripping off your customers. I ordered the American pancake breakfast at £11.00. For this you get, pancakes, bacon, maple syrup and eggs. Firstly, you need to study what an American pancake breakfast is because what I was brought was not it. I kid you not, the pancakes were smaller then the scotch pancakes you buy in the shop and they were thin and rubbery. I got 2 of these along with the runniest scrambled eggs, 1/2 tbsp of maple syrup and fatty bacon. Wasps were flying everywhere and quite frankly I was happy to give them the breakfast! The vegetarian pancake breakfast was even worse! You need to pay attention to your customer feedback, your food game seriously needs to improve if you are going to charge those sorts of prices. Terrible breakfast, I won't be returning.

It was lovely to have cucumber sandwiches, which I can't remember having in a restaurant for a very long time. The scones were still warm from the oven and very enjoyable. This is an attractive venue which added greatly to our enjoyment of the occasion. My only minor gripe is that one of my daughters was given a small coffee cup rather than a tea cup, which was not necessary as there were many tea cups available. Disappointed with almost everything. I went for an afternoon tea menu which is £22.95/ person and the quality of food was very poor - finger sandwiches tasted wrose than a sandwhich you buy at Tesco. My cup of tea was dirst so I asked for another one and then noticed that my fork also had dried food on it as it had not been washed properly. I didn't ask for another one as i was embarassed to do it again, i just didn't use it... The whole place was stuffy and didn't feel clean at all, the wood table was incredibly sticky and gross. I watched the girls who were serving and they were brining the "clean" tea cups to a cupboard before placing them on tables and they did so by putting their fingers inside the cups to grab more at the same time...and then they were putting them on people's tables! The only positive was the scone, cakes and tea which were good.

My wife and I went to this cafe on Harrow-on-the-Hill about 1:45pm on Sunday 24/2/19. we were seated quickly. Though the waitress wiped where we were sitting as we were sitting. She placed us right next to the very noisy drinks preparation/ washing up area. She gave us our menus. BUT things went downhill from there. She asked the couple on the table next to us for their order but ignored us. She then went to the seats outside and sat a party of about 6 at a table, came back into the cafe and then went back outside and took their order. Meanwhile, we brought one of the drinks for the next table to us. STILL she ignored us. We waited for a good 7-10 minutes but we were ignored. So we got up and left. My impressions - cramped, not much character, appalling service (unless you like being ignored). AND the prices were very high. So, if you want to pay over the odds to be ignored go there. In the end we found a brilliant little cafe in Harrow itself (not the Hill) where we got the same meal we would have had at half the price - AND it came very quickly too!

It was okay-ish but for £9.75 each I certainly won't be rushing back.

I recently had lunch at the Dolls House at Harrow on the Hill. I had booked a table for two well in advance and on arrival was shown to a small table situated below the slanted ceiling (all tables bar one were unoccupied so we were surprised we were placed there). We eventually asked to be moved to another table, having bumped our heads when getting up to use the loo and to get the waitress to place our order. So not the best of starts.

£6 per slice of cake. Despite seeing comments on previous reviews saying prices are clearly displayed none of our group could see the prices on the menu or in the shop. So perhaps they are displayed, just not very clearly.

I booked the 'Den' area for a surprise Afternoon Tea birthday party. It was a beautiful space. The service was good and the food was fabulous! I had 2 dogs with me and the staff were great with them. They brought over a water bowl and gave them some fuss. They love fuss! So nice to find a place where they welcome the dogs as much as people.

The food is good and freshly prepared, but the price is extortionate. For instance a slice of home made cake sets you back £6 and a sandwich £11. As good as they are, they are not worth the cost.

I have visited the Dolls House 4 times. It never fails to disappoint. The value for money is dreadful. I ordered an ice coffee. Watery, tasteless, cheap ingredients, no ice. Although the weather was 34° the drink was so bad I couldn’t finish it. Dehydration was a more attractive option. Each time I’ve returned I have done so hoping the previous experience was an unfortunate one-off. They are a series of costly unfortunate one offs.

I have lived on Harrow on the Hill for years and we visit The Dolls House as a family often for lunch and Ice Cream. Today we had their Afternoon Tea for the first time and it was fabulous. We had the vegetarian option and the sandwiches were fresh with delicious filings, the scones were warm and the homemade cakes were lovely. We couldn’t eat it all so took some of the cakes home. I have had Afternoon Tea in many places in London and The Dolls House, with its unique setting is one of my favourites. The staff are always friendly and we love it there. I will definitely be back for Afternoon Tea and lunch soon!!!

Manager was quick to respond and very helpful via phone and email to arrange a special day for a friend. Parking is limited but not a huge problem as you can find some down the side roads. The cafe is full of character, it’s vintage and nothing matches, we loved it! The food was very nice, everyone was very complimentary of the scones and brownies. The den area seats 12 people and I wouldn’t squeeze more in as you’d struggle to fit chairs. It was a hot day so it was quite warm in the den, I’d take a fan with you. Overall lovely experience and I will visit again.

Lovely Sunday lunchtime meal with the family. Service is outstanding and food was very good. Perhaps a tad expensive but you get what you pay for. Will certainly be back soon!

Visited with friends and ordered a juice with extra ice.. I received 3 ice cubes. Ordered a large vegan shake and set £7 was absolutely astonished to receive a standard size glass with a very luke warm drink. Clearly there was no ice cream on this and the vegan milk had obviously not been in the fridge. My friend had to go and ask them to add ice to make it bearable. I know this is London but didn't expect such a rip off. Never again

This tea room is a little gem and in a great location. The homemade cakes are absolutely superb. Always a gluten free Christmas variety, fresh and delicious. Good coffee and an outside seating area which is dog friendly and lovely on a warm summers day. Only downside is the cooked breakfast a little disappointing. But for tea and cakes, wonderful.

We came for breakfast and was very disappointing.Service has a lot to be desired .It wasn’t even that busy but we waited 15 mins for them to take our order and what annoyed me more that the people that came in after us there order was taken first .One of the girls did apologise .I agree with other reviews £11.00 for a breakfast very steep indeed that didn’t even include The drinks .Sorry but we will not be returning .

Great location, cute little place. Sadly very disappointed. We had reservations for 4 people Sunday brunch & arrival on time, they were seating people behind us before us. Took 30 mins to take our orders, then the waitress totally forgot to ask me what I wanted. Tea was served with stale milk. Water after reminding few times was served on discoloured plastic cups. The food was just ok not worth the prices. It took an hour to get some simple breakfast food served. It was very hot inside we were seated in the attic & some fan could help keep the temperature down. I would not recommend this place if you are used to Cote, Bills etc as quality, service or value for money is not here.

I went to this place on Sunday and I must admit I enjoyed a very nice Almond Late! The place was fully booked. I didn't eat breakfast but the menu looks lush! I have to go back there to try their food!

I've been here a few times now! Just had my Baby Shower here last weekend and yet again the food and service was excellent! The staff are superb at making you feel very comfortable and go above and beyond in their hospitality! All of my family and friends had nothing but positive comments to say about this place.I'm trying to think of the next event that I can hold here! Recommend highly!

It is a cute place and staff are friendly. The food and drinks are average. We have used this place since 2014. The prices have increased and portion sizes got smaller. Parking is a real problem.

Freshly made my backside. Deffo made in bulk and frozen. Damn expensive. Food is not brilliant. Had chocolate raspberry cake & coffee. Coffee was luke warm and cake was dry and nasty. Went to pay for said yuk food & thought after I best go get a loan from the bank so I could get through the rest of the month till pay day. Just used random date as I do not wish to remember this awful experience. As in previous reviews the management are not very good in customer service. Majority of the young girls are very polite & lovely. Something the owners need to brush up on.

There were 3 adults and 2 children, we had a club sandwich, eggs royale, crepe (very crispy) Nutella and banana and another one with lemon and sugar and a waffle plus 2 slices of cakes and drinks for nearly £90! I was expecting the waffle at £9.50 would be a homemade one but it was a pre bought one so thought that was very expensive at £9.50. The staff was nice and friendly and it’s nice inside but too expensive to go again. If it was a bit cheaper I would be regular!

This place is a one off in this part of London. It is a very quaint village tearoom with seating inside that has views from the top of the hill as well as seating outside. We came in for coffee and cake. The cappuccino was quite good and the cake was very nice - if a rather small slice. Unfortunately for 2 coffees and a small slice of cake the bill came to £12 which is very expensive.

We were visiting family in the area and decided to come here for early dinner. We first sat outside but decided to eat inside. Lovely young lady showed us to a good size table for 4, a very very helpful young man took our order, which he confirmed with us. Our starters arrived nice and hot and were beautifully presented. Another server ( who I later found out to be the assistant manager) came over to check everything was alright and asked if we wanted more drinks, very polite and very friendly. Although the choice for vegetarian was limited my daughter was still able to choose something. Overall the food was good(if a bit pricey) but the staff more than made up for this. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning soon.

Great news, the Castle is not only back to its old self, it’s even better. The new management and team are really good. The service, food and ambiance is lovely. With much improved food, clean, well lit and cozy fires takes you back to the traditional pub atmosphere. Excellent for dining or just drinking alone or meeting friends you are always welcomed by the team.

We live nearby and pop in occasionally for cream tea on special occasions. It's always been somewhere between good and great for food and service. But this last trip was a bit like visiting Fawlty Towers. We wandered around trying to find someone, anyone, that might work there. Eventually someone gestured in the vague direction of a cold room with stark, uncovered wooden tables. Eventually, about 15 minutes after we sat down, someone offered us both a menu. About 15 minutes later we asked for water... this request was satisfied eventually. So about 30 minutes in and we had water. We tried to order but at that point we realised that we had different menus. So these menus were whisked away and we had only our water to entertain us... I'll stop there but it wasn't great. Borderline awful. It's gone from delicious treats and great service in a beautiful tea room to water in a cupboard. Good luck.
