The Doghouse Craft Beer Bar in Selby

Very rude Barmaid towards myself and four friends on Saturday night 2 November,when she gave us the wrong drink with our order .All 5 of us were shocked with her attitude when she was asked politely to correct the mistake.Only when l got back to the table did l realise she had charged me £29.65 gor 5 drinks all costing around 5.20. My friends decided not to make an issue to avoid a continuation of her aggressive response.Description on the barmaid shortish ,Stout, with Halloween makeup on.Pity because the pub surround very pleasant

The Doghouse is a cosy cafe like pub listed in the camra good beer guide. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is a wide range of craft beers, lager and cider, including cask conditioned hand-pulled real ales from their own Brewery. There is outside seating, and the pub is dog friendly. A brilliant pub highly recommended we will definitely be back.

First class food and service when we were in for lunch today. 4 adults with 2 dogs. Welcomed on arrival and a great selection of beers to choose from. Loved the decor and tried to work out the songs from the excerpts painted on the walls, as you can see by our wives looking at them.

We always come In here and staff are so lovely and polite! Megan is so helpful and knowledgeable about selby too and goes out the way to make sure customers are happy! Would definitely recommend

Too busy talking in the phone to then try and sell the most expensive beer in the joint. The hand pulled vinegar will clear your system out with not much change out of a fiver. No wonder I’m the only customer. Avoid this place and go to spoons or otherwise avoid Selby. Plus you are lucky to get a 5G signal poor 3G if lucky in this one horse town. To add to your response you were more interested in seeking me the most expensive pint after the cheaper beers then I don’t think you are worth bothering either. I don’t mind paying if I get quality but who comes first? You can soon say hold the phone I’ll be back in a minute. Think about it.

Very disappointing. Only 2 ales on and one was well past it's best. Early Thursday 11th April. The It's Oats Man was either stale or not been pulled through properly. Only other one on was a pale (Zetland??)

Great place to be! Lovely atmosphere, dogs welcome foods mint and beers do what they're meant to.

Quirky pub. Great beers, especially the smash egg.

I loved the interior but it's so small inside there's no where to sit. We sat on 2 stools at the bar but we just felt like we were in everyone's way. The bar staff were constantly wanting to get past so we left after one drink and went back to the George. Its also very very expensive!!

A great bar serving some excellent beers, plenty of choice to suit everybody's taste. Friendly staff, clean facilities and a nice atmosphere. Quiet during the day but busier on an evening.

Quiet, quirky bar in Georgian style terraced house in Selby. Walls uniquely decorated in humorous fashion. Had the upstairs to my self. Decent gents. Eclectic range of beers including a number of house beers brewed on the premises. Plus a number of other local real ales. Didn't try the phone though plenty of others were happy chowing down. The "challenge" items with extreme chilli looked intriguing....

Just had my granddaughter’s first birthday upstairs at the Dog house and the food was amazing. Pizza, Chips, salad and garlic bread. Delicious!! Constance flow of fresh food too. Thank you so much staff, we will be back! Us from Bristol & Herefordshire

Fabulous and dog friendly. We were visiting for the day. My son has now made it is regular place to go and we will definitely be back.

The place is nice and friendly but the music is so quiet that if you go in as a couple it very much lacks atmosphere, the music could do with being turned up to make it more welcoming!

Beautiful craft beer cafe.. the decor is so creative and there is not a part of the cafe that wouldn’t catch your eye. The beer is amazing Staff are very polite and helpful I honest have nothing but good positive vibes.

My god, what have they done to the beer!? It used to be nice, but last Friday, we tried 2 of them, and they were awful. The beer had not gone off. It was just thin and watery, like an extremely poor home brew. We left them both and went back to the Crescent. Something has definitely changed for the worst.

Wow. A definite place to visit if visiting Selby. Loved it the variety of ale's on offer and the amazing interior. Would certainly return if in the area again

The lower scores are due to the time we visited but for bear this small chain is really good and their format and decor is different to the norm and would encourage people in. The menu is limited but good for what they serve but I don't think that the food is the main attraction. Try for yourself

We went for lunch on Friday 5th May half an hour after it was supposed to be open and it was shut. So I can’t tell you what it was like.

Quirky little place for Selby. Nice place to sit and chew the fat while having a drink. It was chilly in there, but I had just done a 12-mile walk. It seemed to have a lot of children in on one of the floors, and a children's party arrived, so I'm guessing it's a popular venue for kids.

A bit strange how the beer taps have numbers on and the menu is on the wall directly behind the bar.

Still a lovely venue, but we did move Boardgaming away from here after a period with literally no beer at all on sale. May be closed.

Absolutely splendid place to spend an afternoon / evening / night. A good choice of ales and craft beers. The staff are super friendly. Plenty of cosy areas to sit and there’s an upstairs room to sit or hire for events. The decor is unique, the owner has spent some time painting song lyrics and the science behind brewing over the walls and it’s fun to hear different people trying to place the since lyrics with the song and interesting to learn what goes into making your beers. 10/10 would recommend and it’s a place I’ll visit every time I come to Selby.

I've been meaning to visit here for ages! Last time I attempted, it was closed. Finally, I was in Selby when it was open! The decor is brilliant. It certainly is a talking point and a quiz! One or two lines from a song.... Guess the song and artist (and even the year!) amongst your group, or by yourself. They do street food occasionally, which can be eaten inside or taken out. The menu when I was in, was very reasonably priced and good choice. The burgers sounded de-lish! One to try on another visit. There was a good choice of Cask Ales, craft cider and lager, along with some of the regular branded drinks. Price was very reasonable! I quickly became attached to the Fruit Bat cider (4%) at £4.20 a pint. Served at room temp from a leg and flat! Perfect! My OH chose the Madri Lager, a refreshing drink and one I would've chosen had I of not found the cider! We enjoyed it so much, we actually went back after we had eaten elsewhere with friends, to sample some more cider. Loved the layout of the venue and the quirkiness about it. Dogs are welcome, so it's one to remember for next time if we're out walking the pooch. Good excuse to stop by.....water for the dog please! Popped in today (20/11/22) and it was an open mic evening. Brilliant to hear the talent singing away and customers joining in, too. Another couple of lovely Lilley's Cider was drunk. 😊

Great quirky decor with familiar music lyrics all over the walls and ceiling. American Diner inspired gourmet burgers (including curious PB&J burger!? - I wasn't quite brave enough to try) Despite having two young kids in of an evening we were made welcome and staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Our youngest is just 4 months and wasn't even the youngest baby in the pub! Only 4 stars as the lamb burger (which was delicious!) gave me a bit of a funny tummy later on.

Had some time between trains and found this gem a few minutes from the train station. Great choice of craft with cans and a good line up of keg and cask. Plenty of seating. Great place

Best pub in town that day (probably)

Went here with two friends on 28/4/2022. Excellent burgers, chips, garlic bread and onion rings. Superb service, highly recommended! My friend said his lager was lovely, too.

First time in but not the last .Super friendly staff great beer and ambiance really enjoyed it and will be regulars

What a really excellent pub. Lovely people and top notch beers. Song lyrics all over the walls actually matched the music playing. Four of us had a really good session. We will be back!

Good beer, Uber dog friendly. Slightly pricey but pint is well worth it in my view. You get what you pay for and the beers are cracking! Decorated really cool. Out back you can play guess the tune as different snippets of lyrics are painted on the walls. Great fun when you've had a few. Dog was happy too lying on the sofa bench!

Walked from Barlby to Selby with our 1 year old German shepherd to visit the dog house. What a wonderful experience. Unbelievable beers and he great staff. We will be back.
