What a lovely pub, the service was professional, super friendly and efficient and the food fantastic. Very high quality, loved it and will definitely return if ever in the area.

My Husband and I enjoyed our meals (I had the pork and my husband had the duck) the restaurant was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful, if in the area again we will be stopping for a meal at The Duck.

Wednesday Night is Burger Night it said on the board outside. Not something I would normally get excited about but there isn’t much else in the village. I didn’t expect to get such a fine bean burger with salad, slaw and fries. Not just a few fries, but half a plate of ‘em! The bean burger was delicious. The slaw was even better and the fries were, well, fries. The Duck is obviously popular and I can see why. Seating inside and outside, nice decor and the staff were very helpful. In the unlikely event that I am in Campsea Ash again, I’ll be dining at the Duck.

We had my son’s 30th birthday party here in the garden . There were 60+ guests and everyone was well catered for . We enjoyed the outside BBQ and salads and the food was excellent . The staff decorated the garden for me and nothing was too much trouble . There was a lovely vibe about the place which meant that all guests had nothing but great comments on this venue . Thoroughly recommend using The Duck for any party and of course a delicious meal out ! Thanks to Gracie and her team for a wonderful day x

This is the best pub in Suffolk. The highlights were the tender beef that just melts in your mouth 🤤. And the homemade gravy was incredible! Couldn’t fault it and will come again soon!

Great Saturday lunch, first visit recommended previously and very impressed. Great variety on menu and the Monkfish special was excellent. Fantastic value and one of the best in the area

This was my second visit. The previous exactly a year before when I was also holidaying in the area. I made a point of coming back. The staff are really friendly. They offer great food including the wood fired pizza which I enjoyed this time.I definitely recommend popping in for a beer if you are in the area.

Firstly I must say we were not expecting duck on the menu, just as we wouldn’t expect Pork on the menu at the Unruly Pig or expect to see the Aurora in Ipswich either. It’s just a name, ridiculous review below!We have been here twice now and find the food simply lovely with a great selection of beers too! The pub has a pretty large beer garden and is situated next to the train station.

Just had lunch here, it was fantastic. I had Bavettte steak, with fries and an exceedingly well dressed salad- very tasty The wife had Sea Bream with a parsley butter- she reckons the best Bream she’s ever eaten. Thank you

FAB food we were 2 adults five kids and 2 dogs. Lovely park at rear. Pizza was lovely and vegetarian curry gorgeous. Huge difference when staff are friendly too.

Unprecedented times call for an alternative approach and that’s the challenge the duck has faced full on. It looks like the outside space is the only option to them at the moment but that hasn’t seemed to deter from providing great food in a great atmosphere with a flexible approach. Customer safety is obviously a priority as soon as you enter from the road. A blackboard told us exactly what to expect and how to order via a one way system. Hand gel was available and it seemed by other customers very much used. We had rung ahead to book but were told that they do not take bookings. This did make us a little worried that we may have a wasted journey but in reality it seemed to work well. We enjoyed our food and the kids said the pizza was “the best” before running off to the adjacent play area. Overall a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will return.

Ignore the other messages. This is a great friendly local pub. Fantastic atmosphere and welcomed our dog too. A varied menu and very reasonably priced. We were a party of 8. Everyone enjoyed their meal including fussy eaters. We all said we would return. Never had a bad meal here. The staff were all very friendly and attentive . Well done The Duck !

Just had a shocking experience at this pub with one of the most arrogant pub Managers I’ve come across. We had paid for a wake and brought up to 100 guests to this village pub and paid for sandwiches for 50 guests. Henry was extremely rude to us on this sad day. Our half finished drinks were tossed away while we were standing at the bar waiting. We were told we were lucky that he had agreed to open the place for us. This is worst customer service and he has let this amazing pub down. Bad show Henry :(

We went for our monthly meal out to The Duck after hearing so many good reviews about the food. Food was ok but menu choice was poor. After looking online at the sample menu and seeing so many duck dishes and the fact it states the close relationship with Gressingham Duck, to have only 1 duck option which was a starter was disappointing. Staff descriptions of food was also much to be desired, don’t think we will return here again.

Went here with friends looking forward to at least one duck dish only to find just a small starter of duck and a very limited menu. Staff very uninterested. Shame as web site gives the impression of many duck dishes. We will not be going back.

I’ve now enjoyed four excellent meals at The Duck since it reopened six months ago. The pub had undergone a minor refurbishment prior to my last visit, and while it arguably didn’t need it, the work has definitely freshened things up a little bit. My dad and I both ordered the burger and were suitably stuffed afterwards, although my dad still found room for some sorbet. It was up there with the best burgers I’ve had, and the chips were great too. The next time I visit will be probably for a roast, as they look incredible. I couldn’t recommend The Duck highly enough.

I walked in to this very charming restaurant on a Friday night and they could not have been more helpful. The service and smile was wonderful and the chef had no problem making me as a vegan some good falafel and a most excellent roasted cauliflower curry. All smiles from the staff and I have booked to go back tomorrow. Highly recommend!!

I only saw this pub because I was on a rail replacement bus a few weeks ago that came to the station opposite! I looked the pub up and booked it based on the reviews. Definitely not disappointed. The service was friendly and the food was a really good standard. The pub was warm and the atmosphere was relaxed. I'll definitely go back.

We enjoyed our third visit to The Duck in the space of two months shortly after Christmas. Even before arriving at the pub, I knew I fancied chicken, so it was a no-brainer to order the roast chicken breast with dauphinoise as a main. Nor could I resist the amazing sweet and sour duck wonton, which I ordered as a starter on my previous visit. It would be nice to see some different specials on the board when I next visit the pub, but if the food is this good every time, I won’t complain too much. Comfortably one of the best pubs around.

Booked a table for New Years Eve having been told by staff that there would be a " Live Band for entertainment" On arrival and ordering waitress informed us there was no live band after all because, quote " We did not get enough table bookings" un quote !! Oh dear, how mercenary and not to mention drumming up trade by false pretences! The piped music was patchy at best and the seasonal decorations very thin on the ground. Don't know if the establishment stayed open until midnight as we left before this time. Food though was excellent, there again it should be considering what one pays for it.

Had a surprise party for my 60th in December and it was a truly wonderful, memorable evening. The little side room is a perfect venue for a family get-together and the staff were superb. I know that every single one of us enjoyed every minute of it and the food was excellent. I just can't thank The Duck and everyone enough for making it a brilliant night to remember!! 100/10 for definite :)

Booked at The Duck for a party of 16 to celebrate my sister's 60th. We reserved a small-ish side room and it was absolutely ideal! Ok, so 16 was a little bit of a squeeze, but we were all friends! The staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble. There was an excellent selection of food on the menu and specials board, especially as we had forewarned them that there were a few vegetarians among us. The food came out all together, delicious, well cooked and hot. Everyone had a great evening! Thank you!

We were holidaying in the area and drove passed the pub. It looked really welcoming and smart from the outside so we tried our luck at getting a last minute table. The staff made it possible for us to eat in the main part of the pub after moving tables around. The atmosphere was great and the pub is beautifully decorated.The staff were warm and professional, taking extra time to explain the menu to our children. My husband and I opted for the pork roast and the turkey roast. Both were sensational! The roast potatoes were fresh and the vegetables perfectly cooked. The meat was succulent and tasty. Even better, the food is priced really well - not expensive.Well done to everyone at The Duck. We believe it’s a new venture. Good luck for 2020. We’re sure you will be successful - especially if you carry on what you’re doing now!

Came here last week for an annual lads get together and food, service and atmosphere were 100% We were looked after by Charlotte and service was friendly, helpful and relaxed.Food was incredible and a cut above your average pub meals. Food was locally sourced, well cooked and beautifully presented.Affordable and well picked wine list.Thanks for a lovely lunch.

Very good food well cooked at reasonable prices. We’ve eaten here twice so far and already looking forward to the third . We had the bread and Olives to share; plenty for two then 1 Malaysian chicken curry and 1 Malaysian King prawn curry ; super tasty .

We booked The Duck for my in-laws’ birthday after enjoying a lovely lunch at the pub three weeks prior. The food was even better on this occasion, with the sweet and sour duck starter undoubtedly the highlight. Although the wonton wasn’t what I expected (it was a cracker, not a dumpling), I would have happily eaten a bucket of the sauce. It was sensational. The king prawn yellow Thai curry was also delicious, likewise the sorbet I had as dessert. Service was once again excellent. My only “negative” comment would be that the specials were exactly the same as our previous visit (minus the roasts), which I found a little surprising. As a result I ended up ordering all courses off the main menu, not that I had any complaints about what I ordered!

This was our first visit to the Duck, having previously visited their other restaurants and enjoyed them all. We were not disappointed - the food was all fabulous, including my dessert which was the rice pudding - one of the best I've had. The whole decor and ambience of the pub was great, and the service was second to none - all the staff were great. There were 5 in my group and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals - we will be back!

We had a lovely evening meal for 2 to celebrate a birthday last month, great place wife and I enjoyed the evening immensely.

Exquisite food. We had roast beef and all the trimmings and although we were one of the last people in the restaurant the meal was first class with outstanding attention to detail. The chocolate pudding was delicious. Certainly exceeded expectations

I started with sweet and sour duck with crispy wontons and pickled carrots. Flavours were amazing. Husband had mushroom arancini which he said were great. I couldn’t try as hate mushrooms. He picked well there. I did try his pork belly though and the combination of apple purée and fondant mash and veg was incredible. I had the Malaysian chicken curry. Aromatic with a bit of a kick and incredible also. Portions are generous.Big shout out to the staff for service especially our waitress that evening who couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely recommend and will be back.

We’d been meaning to eat at The Duck since the owners of The Anchor and The Table in Woodbridge (two of our favourites) took it over earlier this year. Based on the pub’s Instagram posts, the food looked to be of a similarly high standard. And, having finally eaten at the pub on Sunday, we’ve already booked our next meal there. The pub’s interior feels more like a gastropub than The Anchor, and the food arguably surpassed it. My wife and I both enjoyed the sea bass fillet with chickpea & tomato stew and squash purée. For some reason it was listed as sea bream on the menu, but everything was beautifully cooked and tasted delicious. My parents and uncle raved about their roasts; I will have to try one on a future visit to the pub, of which I’m sure there will be many. Service was largely excellent throughout our meal too.

Lovely Sunday lunch, great quality food and friendly staff. Just needed to serve the food much hotter to make it a perfect review as the meal was only luke warm and no one came to see if our food was OK just after it was served otherwise I would asked for it to be heated up more. A little pricey also. Full marks though for the excellent chocolate delice and sublime early grey tea ice cream! Would return again.

First time here but was expecting good things as I love other restaurants in the same ownership, particularly The Table in Woodbridge.The Duck did not disappoint. Lovely decor, friendly and welcoming service and the food was excellent. The duck starter was absolutely fabulous and the duck main too. All the meals that our party had were thoroughly enjoyed and we all said we would be back. Would highly recommend.Minor issue was the lack of car parking space but we parked in the station opposite which was not a problem.

Last night me and my wife had our second visit to The Duck since they reopened. The service, food and atmosphere was just as great as our first visit! I would highly recommend anyone to go there for a meal and if they have the chocolate fondant on the menu for desert make sure you don’t leave without trying one

I love The Duck! It’s an all round great countryside pub.The pub itself is beautiful, it has a friendly and warm feel. The garden is lush in the summer months. The service is the best. You are always greeted with a smile and nothing is to much trouble.The food is incredible! Every time I’ve eaten here it has been delicious. The food comes out looking stunning and tastes sensational. I am a vegetarian and the options available have always been amazing. Go and try it for yourselves!

To be perfectly honest this was our second choice for our our evening out but we’re so glad that we choose this venue and from now on it will be our first choice every time! From the moment we walked in and received a warm greeting until the second we left everything was first class. Delicious food and great wines as well as efficient, friendly service. We’re so lucky to have this pub/restaurant so close by as we live in Rendlesham. Thank you!

I’m mid 40’s and love my food- it’s my pleasure in life, my little luxury. I’m a massive tool about it but I love trying new places out when on my travels with my company to see what’s out there. So whilst working in Suffolk, I was recommended the Duck by the lady who we were staying with, so my colleague and I set off this evening for dinner. Firstly, great setting, lovely gardens and an outside summer bar - great start! Secondly, Charlotte (the manager) - what a fab reception with a huge welcoming smile! Then we were presented with the modest, but clearly well designed menu. Scott chose the smoked pork rump, I chose the duck breast on special, with leg croquette purée and jus. Strangely, we had met the chef on the previous day and was looking forward to eating from his menu, however, our expectations were exceeded! Both the pork rump and duck were perfectly cooked, the flavours matched exactly with the fantastic sides, and as Scott put it so well: “it’s like a mega posh restaurant with small portions but at the size you’d cook for yourself if hungry at home” We loved the food so much, we ordered dessert, and then the cheeseboard. . . Which was such an amazing combination of blue, cream and black bomber, that we ordered a second one.Literally, couldn’t recommend more highly- Justin, you are an awesome chef my new friend- we will be back for lunch tomorrow.

We had a delicious meal out here last night. All the food was excellent and the service was great. We will definitely be back as there are so many other things on the menu we want to try! 😀

Having had many a good meal in Vernon Blackmore’s other restaurants we had high hopes of this new addition. We were not disappointed. An informal setting with attentive service and high quality cooking. The menu has much in common with the other restaurants in the group...but with the welcome addition of creative duck dishes.

We loved this place when it was the Dog and Duck. The move upmarket by the previous owners was not for us and it has now been brought back to a more sensible planet by Mr Blackmore.Sensibly priced food and a good atmosphere, but also extremely busy even on a Wednesday night.Our vegetarian guest had a splendid meal and the rest of us wee not disappointed. Save for one or two minor niggles. The amount of beef carpaccio seemed very stingy, 5 thinner than wafer thin pieces. And two desserts, which demanded cold plates, were served on fresh from the dishwasher warm plates, the panacotta was starting to melt as was my ice cream, but an excuse to eat it quickly. We did receive an apology from thr kitchen for the oversight.Not an expensive night out.

Visited The Duck (formerly The Dog and Duck) with our friends. Lovely decor, menu was great and a few specials too. I had the Duck () which was amazing. Two had steak which was perfect and full of flavour. We also had the pea risotto which was highly recommended. Quite a few drinks and a bottle of wine. There was also two starters, shrimp and hot smoked salmon roulade which was divine. Two desserts too, cheese board and a chocolate mess, finished the evening off. The bill was £160.00, but we felt was value for money. The food, ambience and service, could not be faulted. Great that we live quite close to The Duck. Loved how they bring you the bill too.

We had booked a table online on the day we planned on visiting the pub, but once we got there they didn’t have our booking despite us getting a confirmation of our booking. So unfortunately they didn’t have any tables left inside, luckily the weather was quite nice at the time so we agreed to sit outside while they tried to find us a table. They kindly bought us over some bread and dips free of charge as an apology for the booking mix up which was a very kind gesture and they managed to find us a table inside after about 15 minutes. The pub is really nicely decorated and we really liked the atmosphere. The food was very well presented but beyond the presentation we weren’t blown away by it.

Recently refurbished and under new management this was an absolute great choice on father's day - the menu is brilliant and the staff are friendly and excellent in their service - make sure you get the Thai curry but their roasts are to die for. The garden makes summer evenings and summer days just a wonderful chance to eat great food and sit in the sun. A great excuse for a drink after a train journey or even a meal before!

Having lived in the village for three years I visited the “Dog and Duck” a number of times the food,always good , was a bit on the expensive so got out of the habit a number of months before it closed , remembering Vernon from the “Spice Bar “ days thought it would be worth a try4/8/19 just had first Sunday lunch at “The Duck” and what a triumph, two stunning starters followed by a superb chicken satay curry and a good old roast beef , I’ve never had a more tender tasty piece of beef the whole experience was faultless from start to finish.The young, friendly, staff were a delight and the management were professional and attentive So all in all a lovely experience, and yes I will be returning well done to all involved

On recommendation from our B&B we visted this pub for our Evening meal. Staff very friendly, atmosphere brill, no music or TV , food really good. I had the malaysian curry my wife the vegetarian option, both well presented and very tasty. Recommended the food to some Dutch people who were staying at our B&B, they agreed after visiting the following night.

Visited The Duck for the first time today. While enjoyable I don’t think it’s somewhere I’d be rushing back to. We had a charcuterie to share and a blt. The food was good the service was friendly and prompt but something about the place needs work. The atmosphere was flat I didn’t feel any vibe at all. At the end of the meal we received our bill in a children’s Donald Duck book which for me was odd. The Duck isn’t quirky and this seemed out of place with the surroundings. However, on a positive note the garden area is lovely and the prices reasonable so it does have appeal.

My son and I have just been to The Duck for a meal. We hadn’t booked but they created a table for us and the meal was - quite simply - terrific! We had a Gressingham Duck starter which was delicious and followed that with a Lamb Pie, mash and vegetables for me, and Coley Fish fillet for my son. The food was very well presented and, like the Starter, delicious. On leaving he commented to me that it was the best Pub meal he’d ever had! Congratulations to everyone at the Duck.

The food was absolutely exquisite, the staff were all very friendly and approachable, prices were amazing for the quality of the food, the atmosphere was lovely, made for the perfect romantic evening! There was some big tables of families celebrating too which was lovely to see - all round fantastic and would definitely visit again!

Had the pork cheek starter followed by a delicious duck breast. Staff couldn’t do enough for me and I the level of food made the cost very reasonable in my opinion. Will be back very soon! My partner loves the gin and later the cremont a Refreshing change from the norm.This place has it all.

We visited this pub/restaurant as it has recently reopened under new management. We were not disappointed, it is reasonably priced with a great variety of dishes to choose from and a constantly changing specials board and the food was excellent. Couple this with a nicely decorated environment and great staff, we all enjoyed a lovely evening. Well done to the whole team, Charlotte,Cam and Justin to name just a few. With pizza evenings on the wood fire oven to music in the garden this place is truly worth a visit.

Under new management and tastefully refurbished, The Duck has a lovely country pub atmosphere and is easily accessible via the A12 or rail (station opposite). Staff very friendly and helpful. Menu was varied and distinctive and left us spoilt for choice. Food was excellently cooked and well presented. Will visit again soon!

We were looking for a quick drink and bite before catching a train at Wickham Market station (opposite the pub). We were met with very friendly and efficient service, and had two open sandwiches that were quite simply delicious. Hoping to be back soon for a full lunch or evening meal.

Ave eaten in the Duck quite a few times since it re opened under new management and have to say how good the food is the. Managers are friendly and very helpful nothing seems to much for them great rest of the staff are also very good and helpful will be going again in a few weeks time just love it

We’ve been here twice since it reopened and can’t speak highly enough of The Duck and all the staff. We received such a warm welcome and the food was incredible. Such fresh flavours and some really interesting dishes without being unnecessarily faffy!This is top restaurant quality food, beautifully presented. There is also a wonderful play area next door so you can sit in the garden with a beer and watch the children play. There is a small children’s menu but we fed one of our children with a starter off the adult menu. I’d also recommend here for couples or groups of friends. Go, and then go again, and again!

Ate here twice over the weekend whilst staying nearby, the food and service were outstanding .Very busy pub so worth booking a table, it had only been open for a month under its new ownership but once word gets out about how good this place is I imagine it will not be easy to get a table.Very good value for the quality of food on offer, it's not the cheapest pub but you definitely will not feel shortchanged.

Locals of the village, me and my wife visited The Duck yesterday for the first time since opening a couple of weeks ago..Oh how lucky we feel having The Duck down the road!I had the vegetable curry which comes with a side of fluffy steamed rice - so full of flavour and surprisingly filling.My wife had the beef burger, very succulent and came with a side of delicious skin on chips.We hope next time to try the desserts but couldn’t manage this time round!The staff are so welcoming and despite being rushed off their feet, were very organised and nothing was too much trouble for them.Many of the people sat around us were commenting on how good their food was which makes me want to go back to try more soon!If you’ve never been to The Duck, you must give it a try, located directly opposite Wickham Market Station and beside the village playing field, perfect for summer when parents can dine in the large beer garden (lit up at night) while the kids play in the park. Finally, for the quality of the food, I don’t think it’s an expensive place to eat like many other local pub/restaurants.

I have eaten in the duck twice since it reopened and I am very happy to say it is a real treat to have somewhere as good as the Duck in our village the food is excellent and the managers are really nice and make you feel very welcome needless to say I am going back to eat tonight

Had a wonderful lunch at the now named Duck. Smoked haddock risotto was full of flavour, perfectly cooked and topped with a to die for soft boiled duck egg. Great service and a pub worth visiting. As the new owner is Vernon B from the Table, Anchor in woodbridge and the Easton White horse
