The Discovery in Middlesbrough

We had searched for a nice family friendly pub whilst staying in the centre for the weekend. We wish we had found it earlier. The staff were so friendly, the food fantastic and everything reasonably priced.

Visited over the weekend with some friends and had a lovely time! We realized it was a boro match day and thought we may not get in anywhere, but despite it being really busy, we got served really quickly! The bar staff let us know that it was a little bit quieter and potentially a free table in their upstairs bar, which also has a pool table! The staff were really lovely and quick to recommend drinks when we were struggling to decide! Think we were served by Craig and Alex, a lovely girl named Courtney we think was making sure the place was clean and tidy, plus the manager Robbo told us about their app to collect points! Like earning club card points at the pub! Would recommend to anyone out and about in town who fancies a good pint and excellent service.

Had meal / drinks, good location for football approx twenty minute walk away, Pub outside of shop centre. Bar area, and upstairs both with TV's. Staff Personable and Polite, make own atmosphere but nice anyway.

Got here at around 3pm. Ordered 2 small fish and chips and a buttermilk chicken baguette with chips. The fish and chip arrived missing the peas and the fish itself looked like it was cooked for way too long, it was dark brown and had a burnt taste and smell. The baguette was also overcooked and the bread was dry and chewy (to the point it caused jawache). There was far too much sweet and vinegary sauce all over it, which was overpowering and not at all tasty. The drinks were nice. The service wasn't bad either, but I'd get a new chef in the kitchen ASAP.

Called in today with some friends after a bit of shopping, we ended up having some food as we stayed later than we thought. The staff were so friendly, please say a big thanks to Ben, Jamie and Jo who were all lovely. Great food and fab atmosphere. Will definitely go back next time we are in town

Went to the discovery in the new year with a group of girls from work, first time visiting and I was highly impressed by the experience. Food was lush for the price had a sharing board... My eyes were bigger then my belly I couldn't finish it. We tried a couple cocktails my fav had to be the bubblegum babe . Will definitely be returning with the girls.

Went out with the girls on Friday night... Was looking for somewhere with cheap drinks and a good atmosphere.. What better place karaoke.. I admit I did sing terribly though.. And £1.75 for a voddy and mixture and jagers bombs. Wow ill definitely be back there next Friday

I was skeptical when I visited this pub for the first time as the prices just seemed to be too good to be true, but I was wrong to have my doubts. The service was fast & friendly and our lunch was delicious. We had a club sandwich, a topside of beef sub, 2 portions of chips and two teas and I still got a couple of pence change from a ten pound note! What excellent VFM.

Popped in with the family before going to the England Ladies football match.Great value pub simple but fair. The food was great and also the staff as it was very busy. Would recommend this place as the atmosphere was electric. Definitely be popping back

Me and my family visited last saturday after the england game. We've been before and its always been good. It was really busy after the game but we were served quickly and the service was friendly. We ordered the sharing plank as it's on offer on weekend with 5 different tapas style dishes to share. Our food came quite quickly considering how busy it was and the food was really nice! The chicken wings are awesome and so are the mozzarella sticks! Next time we are in town we will defo be back!

Went with my family on 5/10/19 service was fast and friendly, food was lovely and hot. Would reccomend!

Came in this afternoon for a catch up with the girls.. What a lovely pub. Lovely staff. Just an all round good experience will visit again

We were in Middlesbrough and decided to call in here to have a late lunch. It used to be Yates so we thought we’d give it a try with the new name.It was around 2pm, tables has obviously been used for earlier lunch eaters as tables were dirty. Plates and glasses had been cleared away but the tables hadn’t been wiped.Carpets and furniture looking very tired.Other customers were mainly men.Menu is typical Stonegate one with usual pub fare.We had a quick drink then left to eat elsewhere as we didn’t feel comfortable in this pub. Only saving grace was that our drinks were good, certainly didn’t feel like eating here.

Called in again during very hot day with young family just before noon,all food delicious and hot and plenty,great meal prices here for all ages and lots of great deals and choice.only a handful in at time and we were served by a young girl with blue hair she was pleasant and helpful and enjoyed her work.I’ve been a few times here but when I’m with my young kids would only come early during day as could get a few characters in at times.

So visited here with family at 21:45 on Tuesday to be told they are closing!! You can have one drink but you need to leave after. In the 30 minutes we were allowed to stay in there customers frequently turned away as they were told they were closing. 22:18 music turned off and glared at by a man who I presume is some kind of manager. No wonder this place isn’t busy and the Lloyds bar next door is. Stonegate!!! You’ve got a cracking site here but seriously need to look at your management of this bar! Very disappointed and no customer service at all!

Today my girlfriend & I decided to go here for dinner and we got a coke and pure orange for drinks and 2x Fish & Chips.

Called in this pub today with family for lunch.it was quiet and a handful in.great choice on Menu for all.beef and ale pie so delicious.it was that yummy i could have ate again.fab prices and only £2.70 for a pint of fosters.good service

Had some food here today, service was great. Was served by a young handsome called Jordan nothing was to much for him he recommended the chip shop platter which was huge! My food was brought by Sammi with a smile and she recommended some puddings for afters.

Would highly recommend this pub! We were served by Courtney very polite and smiling. Our food was brought by Ben. Very happy and polite couldn’t do enough for us. Compliments to the chef Jens as our food was lovely! Eaten here a lot, good prices all staff are lovely.

Lovely food at a reasonable price, we were so impressed with this place and will definitely be returning next time we are in Middlesbrough.

Ho gustato varie birre alla spina, alcune locali molto economiche. Ho anche mangiato e il servizio è stato ottimo.

popped in for a quiet pint and was not a disappointing place, fair priced very clean and tidy, bar staff was on the ball and a real nice friendly atmosphere

Been here twice and on both occasions spot on.friendly service plenty of seating upstairs as well.plenty of choice and not bad for two meals and soft drinks a tenner!.bargain ,it gets very busy downstairs and a couple of tables a bit messy don’t know if short on staff but girl who brought us meals was a busy little bee.we will be back. As its town centre you do get the odd lowlife in with trackies ha .

My daughter and myself went into the pub on a recent visit to Middlesbrough. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pub was very busy however we did manage to find a table. The menu is extensive with daily offers on. We had the Saturday offer of 5 tapas for £8.49 with a choice off tapas. The meal was served hot and well presented. It was delicious. We would definitely return. They also do prosecco by the glass.
