Went there at 2.15 pm as always done for years even with previous owners . One staff member sitting around while other serving , asked for 2 toasted cheese sandwich, we got from the staff sitting abruptly NOT SERVING HOT FOOD , so had to lump 2 hard stale cakes instead and when I say stale I mean stale , I went to ask for sugar for tea, it was like I was asking for gold. This place has gone so badly down hill , we won't be returning they used to do such beautiful fresh cakes and staff were so friendly. And to say no to making a cheese toasties you seriously don't want customers do u If it carries on like this it will lose completely.

On arrival despite it being one of the hottest Sunday in years everywhere else open, this place has all the chairs out front all the bill boards out, but in attempting to get served, doors locked. Has it closed down today ? Changed it name on the same day ? What’s going on ? Are you The Dining Room or are you Christopher’s ? Are you open or are you closed ? Rang listed phone number, and got no reply…..

We have eaten at the Dining Room (now Christopher's) on Regent Road on many occasions and always been happy with the food and service. We decided to try the cafe at the arcade which is the same business. We were a party of 7 and ordered drinks and cakes. The waitress who took our order repeated everything I wanted. One of the cakes was missing so I queried this. The waitress said I hadn't ordered it even though it was on the bill and paid for. She nastily gave me the cake. The food was lovely but the attitude of the staff was awful. She delivered sandwiches to the people on the next table and threw them down, went to get her bag and left. We will continue to visit the Regent Road cafe but will definitely not be visiting the one at the arcade again

Went for breakfast as a family one of us being gluten free when breakfast arrived it was missing the bacon ,black pudding and the toast had mould all over it. When staff were told they said well we check the dates, do they not even look at the food they serve. When told staff about missing hash browns they found it funny then came over and said they are not gluten free anyway So why does it say they are on the gluten free breakfast. Other diners also left due to mistakes with their order. Also went there a couple of days ago and they had added 3 cakes we did not have to the bill.

Disappointing but enjoyable quick lunch. The Dining Room is not what it use to be. I do not like food being presented on chopping boards. It's an outdated gimmick which makes eating awkward. The burger was nothing like what I remember from visits last year and prior. From what I understand this establishment is now run by the same Christopher who also runs Merrivale Tea Rooms. Still an excellent selection of gluten free options. Inside seating is very cosy and stylish, outside seating is limited. The lady who served us was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area.

We waited a very long time for food to be served and when it arrived, one of the dishes were wrong. When we said it wasn’t what we ordered, they then asked if we minded waiting as they needed to serve other people. Baring in mind that the rest of our table had their meals and it was also raining. They then said it would be a couple of minutes, we then waited 10 minutes while sitting in the rain and then asked for a refund for the dish. The other meals we had were not great and didn’t taste fresh and a bit out of date.

Service was incredibly slow. Waited over half an hour to be served. When drinks came, the coffee was cold. We then waited another half an hour for a glass of water! No updates, no sorry. We got a refund for our food as we had been waiting over an hour! Would not recommend if you are in a rush.

We always come here when we go to yarmouth and this time was hugely disappointing. We waited over an hour for food with no apology or letting us know there was a wait. The restaurant was near on empty on arrival yet every other table whom ordered after us managed to get their food served 1st. Our food was delivered to the wrong table and during a pandemic to be served the same food of that table is terrible. My partners food was burnt and very dry like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for 30 minutes. Mother in laws ploughmans was nothing more than a ham salad and the burgers were very dry. We were charged an adult portion of mac n cheese when we clearly ordered a children's as my son is 2. They didnt offer any discount or rectify any mistakes. My partner had to say she didnt want to pay for her meal as it was in edible. Every thing else was charged at full price I would avoid. Manager I believe shaking his head when mentioned to the lady we wasnt happy, not a good look.

I think this place has changed its name , seemed to be a sign saying Christopher's? Anyway could be easily missed as not obvious it is a cafe from the outside. Nice and inviting inside, ordered a full English breakfast came very quick. But... the bacon had a odd taste and put me off finishing my meal. I Didn't feel right the rest of the day and put me off eating. Took a while also for us to pay when we wanted to leave.

Visited Great Yarmouth for a weekend getaway and was surprised to find this little place hidden away on the sea front! My wife has recently been diagnosed with a gluten and dairy allergy so was a little worried there wouldn't be anywhere she could eat but the staff were incredibly helpful and put her at ease and the vast amount of free from options which they cater for is amazing! Visited more than once! Wish we had more places like this available at home - absolutely amazing and certainly delicious!

My friends and I just ate here for lunch and I can honestly say it’s the worst meal I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m pretty sure they just served me dog food with a few kidney beans thrown in and called it chilli. The chips were fried within an inch of their life and then fried again. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the shard of copper scrubbing wire she found in her Mac and cheese... I suppose At least we knew the plates were clean. The same can’t be said for my knife that came with a nice big chunk of old incrusted food for free.

We had our breakfast at 9am on the 28th August and booked our table for the the afternoon and because of there being no gluten free choices whatsoever at the other dining room at merry Vale the previous day, we thought we'd ask for a gluten free meat pasty to be saved so that we definately had a gluten free option. This was no problem and the girl wrote a post it note about saving it. We arrived for our booked table at 2pm and went up to order our food. When coming to order the gluten free pasty, not one of the flavours we'd asked for had been saved leaving us to pick something we don't like. The only reason we booked to eat here was because they'd saved us a pasty. This caused us to not being able to have anything else booked so we had to stick with what they had. I am very disappointed as the branch at merry Vale had no gluten free choices for anything, had no sign at the front stating this therfore queued for no reason, then this incident happens the day after with the gluten free choices at the branch at the pier. Why advertise as gluten free cafe when there never are options to choose from.

Weve visited Yarmouth many times, but since I found I was coeliac we stopped going because gluten free food was hard to find. Then we found a gf fish and chip shop, and a Wetherspoons, but yesterday we discovered The Dining Room, and it was EXCELLENT. We dropped in for breakfast, having spotted the big gluten free poster outside. Big full English breakfasts, mine GF with sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms and some really nice toast. Pot of tea and a latte, all for les that 14 quid. Great menu with lots of gf options including fish and chips and cake. Don't worry if youre a non-gf gluten eating Muggle; they cater for ordinary people very well! WE'll be visiting Yarmouth more often in future. Well done you guys n gals at the Dining Room.

To follow on from my original reviews the Response recieved from the 'managers' manager was just as terrible - if not even more appauling. Beware of this place! Very badly managed! The response was in not so many words'you are lying and you've purposely made your pie look like mash! - not at all, it looks like that because it IS mash and I was actually just trying to find the meat! The worse part isn't the fact that the pie has no meat in it, but the rude unacceptable customer care given - day light robbery to take my money and then give that kind of response!

I ordered a gf cottage pie. And on receipt instantly got worried as the wrong one was brought out. Also the same woman who is apparently is manager is chef, and she did not wish her hands on leaving the toilets! Following the arrival of my apparently gf cottage pie I asked for another as the one I had received had no meat in it. I was told that how they were and there's nothing that she could do. I then asked for a refund whilst my little boy and partner ate their food to which I was told she would not refund(and basically just accept it) Absolutely unacceptable. If I'd had wanted a potato pie then I would have ordered a potato pie. Let's hope iam not poorly either from the fact that she doesn't wash her hands after going from toilet (wearing apron) to the kitchen from the few chips I ate. Was looking forward to ordering a gf scone but refuse to give them any more money! That manager needs some customer service training / food hygiene. Better still new employment...

My family and I visited here for an afternoon tea for my father’s birthday. 8 of us in total. We booked via the phone and paid a deposit for the afternoon tea. A couple of small details I think could be addressed to make the place amazing, three of us opted for cold drinks over tea and got given a can with a straw, a glass and ice would be expected at a restaurant. On the phone we told them we had two children and we weren’t offered to swap some of the seafood options for more of the kid friendly sandwiches like ham or cheese. We discovered afterwards that this would have been possible! When we booked we asked for a birthday banner or something and at 12.95 per person, I think that’s reasonable. However we didn’t have a banner. Not a really problem but it’s the extra details people love. The food itself was great, plenty of cream for scones, my sister absolutely raved about the chutney and chives on the platter. The tea was presented beautifully! The selection of cakes was decent and possibly changes depending on the day of the visit? We all agreed we would happily come back and eat here again. All the servers were lovely polite and clean too.

Obviously very popular as it was very busy. We wanted to dine but could only find a coffee type table with armchairs. Due to our seating location we decided to order scones rather than a full meal as the table was very low. We had to order at the bar which took a considerable amount of time due to visiting in a busy period. As with our recent visit to Merrivale Tea Rooms, the cheese scone was dry but the fruit scone was better. I have to say that the pickle and cheese spread that comes with the savoury tea is delicious.

Decided to try this as read the reviews on trip advisor and thought it sounded good. As we entered the restaurant we were met with the smell of a cross between a chemical toilet and Sewage, the further we walked into the place the smell had evaporated (will give benefit of the doubt that there is drain problems). Anyway we ordered 2 burger and chips meals. Which took over half an hour to arrive and we can understand why. The burger was so burnt and dry it literally dried your mouth completely there was no condiments on the burger just a dry rustic roll with a very dry burger. Half a tomato and a offish green lettuce which we didn’t eat. The chips were tepid and not palatable I was very disappointed after hearing and reading such good reviews. Needless to say will not be dining here again.

I was very relieved to have found this GF place who served gluten free battered fish and chips which was really lovely and reasonably priced too. One downside, the sauces offered were not gluten free.

Great place for a all day breakfast bit of a wait to order and for coffee but once you have ordered breakfast was served promptly and was just the job to start the day on.

Love this place, been a few times , the only thing that lets it down is the slow service when ordering food and drink , but everything else is spot on

I love this place. Excellent food, excellent service, lots of choices. I am coeliac and there is such a good selection to choose from and the menu is clearly marked with the information that is needed for various allergies.

Excellent discovery. Gluten and dairy free all noted on the menu. The widest selection I have seen. Great food, friendly knowledgeable staff. I would give 6 stars if I could!

Over the years we have seen this place but never had the time to go and eat, we have heard many good reports about this place so this time we have it a try. All day breakfast was good value. It came with coffee of our choice or tea, I changed a couple of items in the breakfast and it came to the table correct 1st time..

We were staying in Great Yarmouth and decided to try The Dining Room for breakfast. We ordered a full breakfast with sausage and bacon well done. The food was cooked as we requested and tasted lovely. We visited the toilets which were spotless! The cleanest I’ve ever seen in a cafe.

Usually when visiting seaside towns I don’t expect much in the way of gluten free, apart from the occasional chip shop. I was pleasantly surprised to find somewhere to have a nice lunch where I actually had a choice of what to eat. I had a gluten free BLT, and a gluten free sausage roll. The sandwich was nice, but the pastry wasn’t the best I’ve had. Still better than no sausage roll, and the sausage meat was very tasty. They also had gluten free cake but I was full so I wasn’t able to try it. For peace of mind, I would probably come back here if I go to Great Yarmouth again

A very nice meal with decent service. A bit more expensive than some restaurants in the area. Only real complaint was my wife ordered a hot chocolate drink which arrived almost cold. However the food was ok

Popped in late morning for breakfast, nice cafe, decent decor. I had the all day breakfast, very good with fresh ingredients, just the ticket after an evenings over indulgence. Would eat here again I ever go back to GY.

We decided to have our Breakfast here on our second day as we had been in the day before for a quick cuppa and really liked the feel of the place.

Booked afternoon tea for half term, whilst waiting to be served we could see lovely large sponges and huge scones. This was gonna be good (how wrong were we). Sandwiches arrived some of the bread was dry and starting to curl. The scones? Fruit and cheese, the tiniest scones I’ve ever seen, dry and rock hard, very disappointing. The cakes? 4 cakes (all different which is unusual as they normally mirror each other). So we cut each “cake” in half - they were awful, even the Bakewell tart with the silver foil casing (clearly from a shop bought box). Whole experience was very disappointing. Wouldn’t visit again. It was not what is expected from an afternoon tea.

The breakfast was good although asked for well done eggs and served runny. The sausages are great and tasty. Fish and chips - good portion and could taste the nice batter but inside was soggy and chips were like warm and tired. The ambience is lovely and great location. We would visit again and go for more traditional food. It’s lovely and clean.

I am a very regular, loyal Costa customer and cannot go without my lattes, but I visited this Costa whilst on breaks at Great Yarmouth where for quite a while my dog was allowed also but the last time I was in with my dog I was rather abruptly and in my opinion rudely told that dogs are no longer allowed. It was quite embarrassing and I left extremely dejected with my pooch. I am still a loyal Costa customer however, the experience has left me rather dishevelled…….

Really sweet little pub, very traditional in the front and bigger and more modern in the back. Helpful and friendly bar staff and good quality food - we had the fish & chips, scampi & chips and the burger, and we're all still full almost five hours later!

Stopped off as a family of 4. No welcome and one word answers throughout. Food wasn’t freshly prepared & expensive for what it was. Don’t waste your money & go to Acle Bridge Inn.

I’ve known and been to this dynamic and friendly cafe on and off over the last 10 years or so. Whenever I’m in town, I’ll always make a beeline for the Hamburger, always enjoy the great food and drink, and all the friendly and hardworking staff, a special mention particularly to Shirley, Rachael, Claire, Kelsie, Lilly for always providing service with a smile. Now back home, I feel sad to have said goodbye for another year, and only hope that we will keep in touch, and vice versa. The atmosphere, the food, drink, service etc., is exceptional and top class! If you love American food, e.g. beef burgers, breakfasts, ice creams, other meals, I’d fully recommend that anyone reading this should make this your first priority.

Visited the Boathouse on our last night in Norfolk and we chose well for our farewell dinner. The weather was terrible so it was lovely to step inside the really tastefully decorated restaurant. The staff were lovely and friendly and gave us a warm welcome. My husband had the mussels which were delicious he had asked for a starter sized helping but he was given the full meal size so I had to help him to eat them. I had the cod it was enormous and also absolutely delicious, it came with Indian flavours and an onion bhaji absolutely gorgeous. We would highly recommend a visit there were so many tempting dishes to choose from. The lady on the next table had the homemade beef and ale pie it smelt amazing.
