Probably some of the best, if not, the best food I’ve ever eaten. From presentation, to detail and then taste, we were blown away. Thank-you!!

Beautifully presented simple interior, with tasteful art on the walls. Greeted by a lovely front of house person. Service was friendly and prompt. Fantastic food presentation, the amuse bouche, particularly the beetroot meringue and Jerusalem Artichoke, were a great start. Asparagus - not sure if local St Enodoc - was super tasty. Small niggle was quite a staid, formal atmosphere for Cornwall and felt a little rushed at the end with music switched off etc but food and surroundings were perfect.

Friendly welcome and an extensive menu for a fixed price. Food was superb, a real cacophony of flavours. Very good value as March is reduced price, so £55 for 3 courses plus amazing canopies and home made bread. Highly recommended!

WOW ...very good . I have been lucky enough to eat in some very good restaurants , this place is right up there. Can't fault it , Georgia looked after us very well .... Fine dining for 55 quid for three courses......how do they do it . STUNNING

The most wonderful restaurant food I have eaten in years. Four of us for my birthday dinner and every course was a delight. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

The Dining Room has a stellar reputation and going by Google reviews, exceptional in every way. And I will continue to beat that drum. I had the absolute joy of dining here last night. Meticulous attention to detail wove through the evening, through the food and service and ambience, pulling all the elements together into a work of art. The visual beauty of the food did not set you up for a disappointing mouthful. Every flavour and component was there for a reason and played off each other purposefully. My highlights were the truffle cheesecake with balsamic, the smoked cheese custard with Beetroot, the perfectly-cooked-melt-in-your-mouth venison and the rum poached pineapple cheesecake. I tasted many more from people at various levels of willingness to share and can vouch for the rest of the menu too. The value for money is worth mentioning as I left absolutely satiated, happy and not lacking anything. What a treat.

Whenever we stay in the area (usually at Trewornan Manor which is excellent) we book to eat here. The food is outstanding, the service excellent and the prices are a steal for this quality of fine dining. It is a real treat. You need to book as it is quite a small restaurant.

This was exceptional food wise, tastes, portion sizes (amuse bouche & breads to kick off). Venison was perfectly cooked, but all other dishes were excellent also (we cross shared on the table, often frowned upon but with every dish, we all wanted to share how good they were!!!). I would also make mention that the pricing was v good - both good and wine. Service was also excellent, attentive but not fussy or intrusive. Exactly what you want. Most definitely returning!

Superb and challenging dishes, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Fabulous home baked bread with either a Clotted Cream butter or Marmite infused one. A trio of Amuse Bouche was a tickler to the taste buds. Crab was chosen by 3 and I had the Beetroot as a starter. Fabulous smoked cheddar custard with mine. 1 Sea Bass and 3 Venison followed. All dishes are a full frontal assault on the taste buds. Finished with each of the puddings. Coconut one was too sweet fo mu taste but the Hazelnut and Chocolate is a stunner.

The Dining Room staff and food never fail to impress. Another fantastic meal - only wish I had had room for pudding! I defy anyone to visit this area and not have a meal here! Thank you again to everyone at The Dining Room for yet another superb meal.

My husband book this fabulous little restaurant as part of our anniversary weekend in Padstow…what a gem! We both loved the simplicity of the menu choices. Very reasonably priced for such high quality and beautifully presented dishes. The extra little amuse bouches were equally delicious! The marmite and onion butter was to die for! All the staff were also very friendly, experienced and attentive. Absolutely fabulous meal. My crab starter beat Rick Steins 😉

This was our first visit having driven past a number of times and always saying that we should visit. Our mistake was that we did not visit earlier as this is a fabulous restaurant with great food and a friendly, efficient front of house. The menu consists of choices for 3 courses at a set price. It is a format we like as it both offers some choice and allows the kitchen to focus on the dishes available for that service. Good wine list at reasonable prices. We will not make the mistake of driving past again!!

My wife and I visited The Dining room for our child free Date Night. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our table. The lady took our drinks orders and shortly after the amuse bouche arrived, we had beetroot macaroons, aranchini balls and a bream dish, they were the perfect start to the meal. The starters arrived, my wife had had the cod and I had the duck, both starters were amazing For Main I had the pork cheeks and my wife had the lamb, the meat was cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth tender, it was so delicious. For dessert my wife had the chocolate ganache with passion fruit ice cream and I had the strawberry with Honey Parfait, these were the perfect end to the meal It was a fantastic restaurant with amazing staff and food to match, would highly recommend visiting, you won't be disappointed

What an outstanding place, once you enter the staff show you to your table and give you a menu to look at, all easy going, not rushed. Well , you get what you pay for, The food is absolutely delicious, I think it's the best food I've ever had! We've visited this restaurant a few times now to experience the lovely food served here. Including the tip our last bill was £180 for 2 including wine & champagne , but wow, it's so worth it. they take cash as well which is refreshing. Advance bookings ensure it's not overcrowded,and take note of any allergies prior to your taylor made dining experience. the staff are super attentive. just perfect in my opinion.

Superb food, service good, surroundings to match. You get what you pay for, and our meal was well worth it. Whilst the menu is (quite sensibly) limited by the use of seasonal/local produce, the amuse bouche beforehand extended the taste experience dramatically. Compliments to Donna and Fred on running an excellent restaurant.

This restaurant was amazing from start to finish. I booked for Valentines day and had contact throughout about preferences and tastes. My wife was pregnant at the time and they took this into account for us. Then on arrival the restaurant was cosy and bright. There was a good atmosphere and we were welcomed inside. The food however speaks for itself. I think my eyes lit up with every bite and the flavours were all perfect and went together so well! I had the Venison which was exquisite. Its a shame I live 300 miles away from this restaurant or I would return as often as possible!!

We visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was obviously full. The owners are great hosts (you can tell they develop relationships with regular guests) and also knowledgeable of the menu and can explain all the dishes very well.We had two courses each and wine. We’re also offered canapés and amuse-bouche (that spiced pumpkin soup was delightful). There are four options for starters and mains which in my opinion is great since a short menu raises the expectations in terms of execution. We had the artichoke risotto for starter followed by hake and pork for mains. All dishes are very well thought and complete in terms of flavours, sauce, textures. Execution was spotless. Fantastic meal overall. The only development point (not enough to miss the 5 stars of course) is the wine list where I felt some more/less popular winemaking regions are under/over-represented given the length of the list.

Food is simply stunning. Treated like royalty. The price for the food is unbelievable. You would probably pay three times more for the food if the restaurant was in London or another major city. Why can't there be more places like the dining room? Simples - pure greed 11 out of 10. Get yourself down there. Now

Food was excellent, though I feel there is better available elsewhere in Cornwall. The real let down was service. Perhaps we didn't look as though our wallets were as large as other customers? Hopefully better next time, we will return!

We had an amazing meal here on the last night of our holiday. The restaurant is modern, comfortable and informal. The menu was seasonal dishes full of flavour, textures and beautifully presented. The staff were lovely, very friendly. Everything we'd want in a restaurant, it's just a shame we live 300 miles away but will definitely call again if we're lucky enough to be in the area.

Our 4th visit and as in all our previous visits absolutely exceptional food and service. This place is so understated it totally lets the food do the talking. Faultless and beats by a country mile all the other ‘big noises’ in the area.

Such a lovely menu and brilliantly executed food, really does deserve a Michelin Star. One of the best restaurants in the area. We have been coming for years and will always come back as the food is fantastic. Also represents very good value for money based on the quality of ingredients.

A lovely welcome greets you as you enter what can only be described as classy, impeccably styled fine dining establishment. Service was first class and the food just as good. If you are in the area and want a quality/special meal then look no further.

What a lovely restaurant! From the moment I saw it from the car park it had a lovely warm glow and buzz. The service was very attentive but discreet, the food was extremely well executed and delicious and I'd definitely go back! Enjoyed the nice touches... The milk bread, the clotted cream butter, the beetroot and horseradish cream macaroon.... What a treat!!

Everything that we could hope for:- great service, relaxing ambiance and food to die for! Although we had three courses, these were interspersed with two additional bon bouches and were served at exactly the right tempo, neithet too fast nor too slow. Athoroughly enjoyable and relaxing evening.

We had a wonderful evening at The Dining Room. Not only was the food out of this world with beautiful presentation and fabulous flavours, but the staff were very attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The scallop & pork belly starter was a dream on a plate and the lamb starter was equally well received by our grown up children. Puddings also perfection. Slight disappointment from my husband with the sea bass & crab cake (latter tasted only of potato). Everything else was a wonderful mix of finely tuned flavours and exquisite artistic flair. A simply brilliant evening for us all and one we will remember.

My husband and I dined here recently when staying locally. I am a vegetarian, but I forgot to mention when I was booking that I have a very serious allergy to truffles. Cue concern on my part when I realised that the only vegetarian starter included truffles! The kitchen rustled up a wonderful alternative and we both enjoyed our dinner so much - my husband is still raving about the cheese-board!

This was one of the restaurants that our daughters booked for us whilst on our holiday in Rock. We were looking forward to our meal because of the insight of the menu before we went. Having been to various Michelin star restaurants in the UK The Dinning room in Rock produced excellent food all prepared on site and to a very high standard, I find it hard that this restaurant has not been awarded a Michelin star.When I compare this restaurant with other restaurants in the area the cost of the meal was half that we had paid else where and there were no hidden extras apart from drinks even coffee was included. Well done you are definitely our our list for a return visit.

The restaurant itself was nice and clean, the food on the whole was good, some of the dishes seemed to lack seasoning. The staff were pleasant, but I feel the atmosphere was abit stuffy and because of this I wouldn't return.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and my it was wonderful. The food tasted amazing and looked outstanding, art on a plate, the attention to detail was of a very high standard. Staff were very friendly and attentive. What a great find!

We had a really lovely meal here - the food was excellent, really delicious and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and warm - Beth was fantastic and made our evening really extra special as we were on our honeymoon. The extra bits made the experience really stand out too - amuse bouche and delicious home made bread and butter. Just so lovely.

Wonderful understated restaurant with sublime food & service. Amazing value, couldn't fault any of it. The canapés & amuse bouche were a thoughtful & delicious extra.

We dined here back in 2018 and loved it so we were very much looking forward to our return ....and we weren't disappointed.Our reservation ended up clashing with the Euro 2020 final and Donna was so helpful in allowing us to move the time forward so that we could watch some of the game - thank you.The food at the dining room was lovely - the cod and sea bass main courses were lovely as was the cheese selection (really enjoyed the Queen Bower Dairy Blue from the IoW & Sharpham Estate Brie) - we enjoyed a bottle of Chenin Blanc.The restaurant charge a flat fee of £52.50 for 3 courses (£47.50 for 2) which we think is fabulous value.Our bill came to £161 (included service from Donna and the team which was very good). The only disappointing thing about the Dining Room is that they are located so far away from our home ....Shame :-(

Booked on a whim after reading reviews. Intimate restaurant with attentive staff. Set menu was amazing g value, had canapés & amuse bouche that we weren't expecting. The food was fresh & vibrant with ample portions. We'd love to visit more often but it's a long way from south london

I very rarely review restaurants but we had a family excursion to the Dining Room which resulted in rave reviews from the whole team! Charlie (16) was remarkably quiet throughout the evening, enjoying the beautifully balanced dishes. Great aromatics and textures was the overall impression but also seriously well sourced raw materials which were superbly seasoned and crafted in the kitchen. Fred is a very serious chef producing some amazingly creative dishes crammed full of complex flavours. Front of house service for 28 covers was ultra-professional, split between Fred's wife, Donna and the lovely Tess. Ten years in Rock and very much keeping their light under a bushel, Fred and Donna epitomise what a family run restaurant is all about. Some of the 'bigger' names could learn a lot from this remarkable couple.
