It’s quite good, 4 stars because of the price which is a bit expensive. I recommend to go on breakfast as it is way better than for lunch

This is such a cosy little cafe, I can't believe I have never been here after 2 and a half years at Lancaster University. A range of options available on the menu, and nothing is overly expensive. I got the classic deli bagel which was rather tasty, although I was super jealous of my friend's French toast. Such a cosy atmosphere and lovely staff too. I would definitely consider returning.

Service is amazing, every person that took my order was very kind and willing to explain that slash in the menu means that I get both toppings, not just one. Rose petal tea is also very nice and actually tastes (not just smells) like roses. Last year, after they opened I tried waffles. Very small portion, not many toppings, overall left unsatisfied. This year decided to give it another chance, ordered flatbread with mushrooms and spinach - perfect size of portion, however, wasn't very tasty, I would say taste very "cheap", something me, as a poor university student, would prepare on a 10 minute break in a college kitchen before the next lecture. Then I tried pancakes with blueberries and cream - I can just guess (again from my poor-university-student experience) pancakes are made either from ready pancake mix, or are not even made - just microwaved ready from packaging. Small portion again, but blueberries were really nice. Then I also tried poached egg with beans and tater tots and I again was disappointed. Poached egg was just boiled egg in a fancy shape, tater tots would be okay if they weren't soaked in the horrifying tomato sauce from the beans. As much as I love beans, especially classic Heinz beans, this was unacceptable. Sauce with beans was probably microwaved too long, very waterish-cheapish-tomatoeish. Atmosphere in the place is quite cozy, good for sitting with friends on a break, service as I said before is also very pleasant, however there need to be some change with food.

Visited Lancaster Uni for their open day and needed somewhere to have lunch! Came across 'The Deli' and it was absolutely fantastic! It was busy and a little bit of a queue but we weren't in a rush so didn't mind! I had the mac and cheese and my family had the fish finger butty with the cajan fries and it was delicious. Really affordable too, so great for Uni students! Staff were really friendly and attentive too. If you ever find yourself up at Lancaster Uni I recommend The Deli to you!

This is a great place to get a coffee on campus, especially compared to the overpriced chains surrounding it! Although it has been surrounded with campus construction work it still makes a pleasant atmosphere to meet with friends or sit and do your work as a break from the library.

The Americano was nice and strong. They have a good selection of hot and cold drinks. Service was reasonable.

Building and upgrading works in and around this outlet hamper the custom it needs to thrive. Popped in for a snack and a coffee and was taken back by how dated this place looks; drab walls with paint peeling off the skirting boards and blistering paint on walls that look as though they've had a tad of a damp issue going on let this place down. There is a vibe in here as was noticed by the amount of custom, chilled music playing over the PA system seems to draw your eyes away from the dreary dank decor...this place is crying out for a facelift. I briefly spoke with the manager, and she has assured that there is some light at the end of the tunnel, but with everything, money is the issue, together with timing. The Spine needs to open as soon as possible to enable this place to become the heart of the Universities eatery outlet...dig deep management and give this place the lick of change it deserves.

Went there for lunch and there was a great selection of really good quality salads. For £4.45 you get 3 with a healthy heaping of a roast meat.

A busy spot at lunchtimes, offering a fairly wide range of foodstuffs, from sandwiches, ciabattas, soup, salads and hot and cold drinks. Food was ok, the salads looked decent. Prices were reasonable. Homemade cakes on offer too. A popular place on campus.

The Deli is the best place on campus to get tea and cake. They serve a range of loose teas which are lovely and the cakes are good too.

Very disappointing. Went in for their Mexican menu in the evening with a friend, both pretty hungry and hoping for a decent burrito at a reasonable price. The general ambiance is pretty good for a place on campus, with candles lit on tables and Mexican music playing in the background. The service, while warm and polite, was much too slow considering we just ordered two burritos. When these came, we were quite surprised by how small they were – I thought perhaps I had ordered the children's portion by mistake. At £6.95, we thought this was pretty poor value for money. There was no guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce or even sour cream in the burrito, and the meat was pretty sparse. I had ordered spicy chicken, but there was no evidence of any kind of spice whatsoever. We were very underwhelmed by our main courses and, though the waiting staff did give us a small plate of potato wedges to apologise for the slow service, we were at this point pretty unimpressed by the whole experience. We hoped they would make up for the main course with the dessert, and optimistically ordered their churros with melted chocolate pot, coffee & cinnamon dust. When these came, it transpired that it did not come with an actual coffee as I had presumed – they had meant 'dust comprised of cinnamon and coffee' rather than 'coffee, and cinnamon dust'. The minuscule serving of melted chocolate was emphasised by the large pot they served it in. The churros were bland, stodgy and certainly not made fresh. I dreaded the moment when the waiter would ask me how I enjoyed my meal, but thankfully it never came. Overall verdict: – good service – small portions – bad price/quality balance – poor food

Visited the cafe before a trip to the castle. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and cafe was warm and inviting on a cold January day. Coffees were made to perfection, as were the good and cakes. We will definately be back.

We have visited in the past and always been reasonably happy. Today was not a good experience. The bread was stodgy for both the egg mayonnaise baguette and the rarebit. The egg was congealing and the ‘seasonal salad’ was just a mishmash of little bits! So rather expensive at £27.85 for the above plus two traybakes and a small pot of tea. Sadly highly unlikely to return.
