Visited The Delhi last night for a curry with my brother. Staff ( Shakir & Dara) were friendly and helpful. We had starters and both our mains (chicken Mushroom Balti) with accompanying naan breads were flavoursome and meat was tender. One of the nicest Balti we’ve had in a long time. If you fancy a nice curry in Solihull we would recommend you try “The Delhi”.

Ordered a chicken tikka saag towa, which I’d had there before. It came out and the chicken was in tiny cubes, all the same size like it had come out of a frozen bag, the sauce was a strange red colour, almost like a pasta sauce colour and when I asked where the saag was, they said it was the tiny bits of microscopic green bits. The sauce had definitely come from a jar. I spoke to them and said I’d had the same meal before and totally different and they said they would cook it again “properly”. I said I wanted it properly the first time and my fellow diners had their food so didn’t want to wait. Absolutely no compensation and just a “come back again and it will be better”. I will NEVER go there again.

I recently ordered food from The Delhi, expecting authentic Indian cuisine, but it was an absolute disappointment. The flavors were bland, the ingredients tasted stale, and the overall quality was shockingly poor. It’s insulting to call this Indian food. The presentation was sloppy, and the portion sizes did not justify the price. It felt like no effort or care was put into preparing the meal. Save your money and your appetite. I wouldn’t recommend this place even to my worst enemy.

This is our weekend go to. Excellent food, great service, the staff are always looking after us, one of the few quality Indian restaurants left in the area.

Decent food until I saw a staff member take a bite out of my food while packing it. Well, that's the hygiene standards. The manager was unapologetic. He offered to redo the dish.

I booked a table of 14 for a colleagues retirement. We wanted it to be special and the staff really did that. They made us feel really welcome, everybody enjoyed their food, staff were happy to explain some of the food to people who weren't used to Indian food. The whole experience was awful. The waiter came up and down several times and pressured us to get drinks even though we told him we were waiting for others to arrive. The response was brilliant: "It will be better for me so that I won't come up and down again". He wanted us to rush and move to the next plate immediately. When I tried to pay my portion of the bill, he told me to check with my friends as he passed the whole bill to the table, although I told him before that I would pay my own. Despite my persistence in getting my bill, he refused to take payment. Incredible! I have never witnessed such arrogant and argumentative staff. I will never dine in that place. The food was not great either. You can have the same level of quality in an average Indian restaurant. Please avoid this place.

This has been the place my family and I would eat for as long as I can remember. I've loved it since I was a kid and recently came back from living overseas for a few years to try the food again. It is, without a doubt, the best service you can ask for. There was a large party in the restaurant upstairs but the team found a spot for us in the window and not once did it seem like an issue for them. Super friendly and super attentive. The danger of going to a place that you enjoyed as a kid is that the food doesn't live up to the nostalgia but The Delhi lives up to memory and exceeds. If you're in Solihull please please please do yourself a favour and eat here.

Food was amazing I had punjab murgh massala, this was probably the nicest Indian meal I have ever had, whilst away at a work.conference not the highest rating on here but well deserving on top marks from me

Fabulous. Don’t miss the opportunity to eat here. The restaurant is upstairs. The take away is downstairs. Don’t be worried by the decor. It’s fabulous.

We called in at 6pm for dinner, Dara took us upto the restaurant, he was very engaging and we chatted for a while after our amazing food, the dishes where well prepared and full of flavour, we would definitely recommend this restaurant, next time we are in Solihull we will have a meal there again.

I absolutely love “The Delhi”! The Chicken Tikka Rice here is simply amazing – perfectly cooked, flavorful, and just the right portion. The staff and the manager are always welcoming, attentive, and provide excellent service every time I visit. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for delicious Indian cuisine with a warm and friendly atmosphere!

Most bad food I ever had. I ordered fried rice via Uber today. Just rice and onion were there in a small container. Not worth to your price. Please don’t cheat people. After the meal, I experienced nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, and eventually a fever. It’s definitely food poisoning. I will never order from this place again!

Incredible food! The fish and lamb melted in our mouths. Very reasonable portion size and fabulous service to top it off by Dava. It was our first time there and we absolutely will be going back, and bringing friends and family too! We’ve just left and I’m already craving the bangal fish dish!!! Lastly… loved the decor.

The best food I've tasted in a long time! Came here for hubby's birthday and can honestly say it was amazing from start to finish. The staff are really welcoming, the food was lovely and big portions and the price was reasonable. Will definitely be back again... and again! The Delhi is an excellent, intimate Indian restaurant above a takeaway downstairs. The decor is pleasant and it looks to have been refurbished recently. The menu is limited ensuring that you receive the real recipe rather than a variation on a common base. The staff are very friendly and Shahir, our waiter was very attentive. We go regularly and are never disappointed. It is also licensed for alcohol.

Just had a takeaway from here and it was amazing!! Ordered via their website as is better than deliveroo and I was so amazed by the variety of curries, starters and sides. I tried something new, Punjabi Murgh Masala, and it was delicious. My partner had the chx tikka masala and it had a lovely coconutty flavour. All food was very flavourful in a traditional way- definitely my new favourite curry house in the area!!

Amazing dinner tonight at The Delhi. This was our first visit to Solihull and we wanted somewhere to have a nice meal after a few drinks and this was perfect. Friendly waiters and in particular Dara, who recommended a couple of dishes for me and my friends to try. I had the king prawn mango curry (the photo doesn’t do it justice) and Dara arranged for it to be milder than advertised (as I’m a wimp!) and it’s the best curry I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back next time we happen to be in town.

Came here as we were staying at a nearby hotel and had read the great reviews. We were not disappointed as the staff were friendly and the food tasty but not too spicy. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely return.

There are several great Indian cuisine restaurants in Solihull, but this still is my favourite go-to place. Great food, nice staff, low-key atmosphere - a great and relaxing place for a culinary experience!

We've been loyal to The Delhi for a few years now and generally had great curry from them, also catering for gluten-free allergies (our daughter is coeliac). It's a shame that lately the quality of the curry has had a downturn: it's been definitely less tasty and not great value for money, I wonder whether the ever-increasing cost of ingredients has had an impact (likely, it did for most businesses). We'll move to another curry house for a bit and will try The Delhi again at some point in the future.

Taste less, tried it would not return, Travel all over the UK so eat out often,this as to be one of the poorest quality I've had

Ordered take away and as before it was perfect, good quantity, reasonable material and well balanced spices. We ordered Chicken Achary, butter chicken, Lamb Lasan and Lamb Biryani. They are flexible too, I asked for Garlic fried rice which was not on the menu and they were happy to provide that. Keep doing the good job please.

What a gem of a find! My friend and I were staying in the area and wanted a decent meal out. The Delhi was perfect, and the food was great. When I stay in the area again, I will definitely visit. Highly recommended.

What a find this little place was. We were up here for a car plant tour and felt we just had to have a curry being in the West Midlands. From the outside The Delhi doesn't look much, certainly no sign of a restaurant, more like a take away? We went in anyway and were guided upstairs to a small but rather nicely laid out little restaurant. We were greeted by the (I think) owner. A very nice chap who made us welcome and got us seated. A couple of poppadoms arrived with pickles/sauces, closely followed by a pair of nicely chilled bottles of Cobra. Our orders were taken by our friendly waiter. Then our food came, I'll be honest and say we weren't expecting much, but oh boy was I wrong! The chicken balti that I had was the nuts, the chicken was so tender it almost didn't need chewing. It's the best balti I've had for a while for sure. The naans were soft and fluffy inside and that nice crispy not quite burnt outer that just completes your meal. The sides and the rice (we had one between us) were equally as good as the main. There was more than enough food, not huge portions but big enough. My mate and I left feeling comfortably full - which is good. If you're in this neck of the woods and fancy a good curry in a great atmosphere then The Delhi is the place to go! Best to book a table though. We were in on a Tuesday and it was very busy with just one table spare.

Found this restaurant by chance. My friend and I were looking for somewhere to have a pre-concert dinner before going to the NEC. We were met by Shahir who quite simply epitomises what customer care and attention excellence should be. Nothing was too much trouble....

Maz and his team did a superb job. Everybody remarked on how lovely the curry was. We had an array of dishes and starters, and every single one of them was cooked to perfection. My Fiancee adored the Mango Chicken and the Lamb Rogan Josh was spectacular. The guys were great at accomodating all our needs as we also had vegans and vegetarians to cater for along with guest with allergies, and the equipment provided kept everything warm throughout the evening. Maz's team even came and collected the equipment the same evening so there was no washing up to face in the morning hungover :-) Excellent. Thankyou again to Maz and everyone from The Delhi who was involved, you made my fiancée's birthday a really special occasion.

Fantastic meal with exceptionally friendly hosts. Food was amazing and service impeccable. Shahir was very attentive but not intrusive. Good veggie options and the Lamb Passanda was the best my partner had ever tasted. We will definitely be returning.
