I didn’t have any food whilst here, but I did have a glass of wine - I know rating a place for a glass of wine, what’s all that about? But I was super impressed by the knowledge of the different wines that the bar tender, Joe, had as well as an incredibly helpful attitude that makes all the difference between a drink anywhere and a drink here! Totally recommend - even if it is just for a cheeky glass of white on a Thursday afternoon whilst on holiday!

Nice little bar with friendly bar and door staff

Spur of the moment decision to call in at one of our favourite places. The Decanter never disappoints. Was served by Adi and he presented us with the most delicious cheese platter. The Malbec here is always en pointe…even the glasses are the correct temperature. One word. Fabulous.

Great little bar. Really good atmosphere

Turned up for a wine tasting event for which I paid out £70 as birthday present for hubby. Place was in darkness, with a big chain on the door. Awaiting refund from Eventbrite but had no explanation or apology.

Great drinks. Looked after by Joe who is massively knowledgeable and made incredible recommendations

We had a bottomless brunch to celebrate my birthday. Joe the waiter was such a gentleman and made sure we were looked after with great service, excellent drinks and amazing charcuterie and cheese platters. Real value for money!

One of my favourite bars to go in Leeds city centre. I think this is wine bar but, somehow, Madri beer here is super good and fresh. Usually very calm atmosphere, so that perfect place to have conversation. The staffs are always kind too.

I was a guest at an event and only drank water, so I can't really comment on the food or service. Seems a pleasant enough bar: quite small and rather warm when it got busy.

I only pop in here for a pint or two but I have to say, the customer service and the warm welcome are excellent. Well done guys, some other bars could learn a lot from you.

Loved the cheese and charcuterie board. Will go back. 👍 to doorman as well. V thoughtful for lady with challenged mobility.

We go to the decanter very frequently. Usually it’s a really inviting wine bar with a lovely atmosphere and helpful members of staff and we bring lots of family and friends here when they’re visiting Leeds. On a number of occasions now myself and my husband and our friends have been treated really disrespectfully by mainly the bouncers for no reason what so ever which has left a bitter taste in our mouths - this usually occurs when the bar is busy but during the week outside of peak times we have never had an issue. We appreciate that it’s not the bar staff at all, It’s mainly the bouncers. But it’s made us second think about the places that we would like to visit for an enjoyable glass of wine. Twice now we have been in and had confrontation with no cause ie sitting in a table that was booked (and being allowed to by bar staff) to be only threatened with being kicked out when the table turned up 15 mins early. We obviously really enjoy visiting the decanter but being told ‘if I want to kick you out of here then I will’ is not quite the atmosphere we would expect from a nice wine bar.

Wanted somewhere quiet to sit and read on a Sunday afternoon, with a decent glass of wine in hand. Decanter fitted the bill admirably, with comfortable seating, unobtrusive music and a good wine selection.

Intimate little bar near Greek Street. Pricey drinks but has a nice feel to the place so worth dropping in for 1 or 2.

Nice range of IPAs. Central location not too busy. Toilets down a flight of stairs, unfortunately covered in vomit and it was only early doors. Ewww

This is one of my favourite bars in town. Never disappoints in terms of the variety of drinks available and as always the staff were great. This is a must go place.

Just happened to pop in while passing and while we were hoping for a seat outside there was none spare so we chilled out inside. Fantastic table service and it was quick. While we were inside, one of the bouncers came over and informed us that a table had become free outside and if we would like it (he must've heard us talking on the way in). The staff were excellent when we accidentally knocked a drink over. Great little place that I wouldn't have really thought to go in but will probably now go again.

Nice place, but lacks the charm of wino. Also several people at the bar waiting to be served for the 25 mins before the discount on House wine ended all didn't manage to get it as they won't ring the charge through after the hour. This didn't affect us directly but the complaints from others were very noticeable.

Had a trial shift here and was promised payment beforehand - was offered the job (was even mentioned by Jamie Upton, a previous reviewer) but refused as I was offered a pay rise from current role - have since been ignored when asking about agreed payment from the Decanter. Would avoid this bar, obviously run by unscrupulous people, was evidently correct in refusing their offer

Great place for a catch-up with friends after work, we came in for a drink but the service was so lovely we ended staying for a few more. Will be coming back for the meat and cheese boards.

First time I’ve been here, from Brighton, London and you know what this little legend did Above & Beyond tonight and then told me it’s his first night. Give this man a job now - TOM!!!!!! I love him and if his not, not back pfft

An oasis of calm near to the noise and chaos of Greek Street. The cocktails here are excellent, and if you can snag yourself a table in the corner towards the back then you can easily spend a whole evening in here - time really does fly. Highly recommended.

My favourite place for a glass of wine

Nice drinks, good service but lost a star because of the attitude of person, presumably the manager, when wanting the table back. No need to be rude and apparently it doesn't matter how much you spend. We were up to £80 at that point and it may have been better to try to find space and encourage us to stay.

A fantastic little venue with an amazing selection of drinks, there's plenty of cocktails, wine and even spirits to choose from and if you do fancy something not on the menu you only need to ask!

Often visit this bar when we are in Leeds. Can never tell if it is going to be quiet or absolutely cram packed full! Comfy surroundings, good range of drinks and the service is fantastic, often drinks orders taken at your table and brought to your table - not many places offer this service and the staff are friendly and all look happy to be there.

Lovely wine bar. Not many tables but seats probably around 30 people. Very extensive wine list and the staff were friendly. £6+ a glass of wine, also offers meat and cheese platters.

Hidden gem of a bar, it has been here for a number of years and I only found it this week. Friendly staff and good selection of drinks available. They also have a really great selection of Yorkshire tapas.

The girl serving was rude to everyone who pretty much everyone who entered the bar tonight. She served everyone with a grimace and everyone got the feeling she hates any sort of custom. The last time it was the exactly the same even for one after-work drink. Manager's should employ more friendly staff otherwise I guarantee it'll be closed down in 6-9 months.

I liked the atmosphere of the place, and the drinks were nice. A little bit pricey though.

Late night on a Sunday, with closing time fast approaching and the staff cheerfully offered drinks made us welcome. Apparently the gin offered was really good too.

Popped in for a quick cocktail before a meal. It had a good small bar vibe and they make an amazing white Russian. Available were the usual, classic cocktails and lots of gin.

Pricey bar amidst the legal suits, but worth a visit when you're feeling flush or having a special after-work drink with friends. They do an excellent Aperol Spritz, with professional service, plus wine, beer and sharer platter deals for early evenings.
