House of Koko in Leeds

Mi parada de café de elección desde hace años. Siempre una bienvenida amable, buen humor y una parada de bienvenida para un descanso. Un tardío ‘gracias’ a Rosita por tomarse el tiempo para cuidar a este cliente incluso conduciendo hasta Oakwood con mi(s) Capuchino(s) durante el confinamiento por Covid.

La comida era absolutamente irreal! Gran pequeño lugar para algo diferente para el desayuno. Tuvimos el hachís de miel caliente y el aplastamiento de guisantes libaneses que eran deliciosos. Gran café y servicio amable. Sin duda volveré!

Una experiencia muy mala. Para empezar, la comida era mediocre (en el mejor de los casos) y ciertamente muy caro para lo que realmente se obtiene. Pero es mucho peor que esto. Cuando llegó la factura, habían subido el precio con varios complementos furtivos que no se mencionaban en el menú. También habían cobrado por una gran porción de un artículo en particular, cuando solo nos habían dado una pequeña porción (que es lo que se ordenó). Estoy seguro de que esto no fue solo un “error”. Pero las cosas empeoran. Cuando recibí mi extracto bancario en línea, la cantidad tomada de mi tarjeta era totalmente diferente de lo que decía en la factura final! Volví para quejarme y la funcionaria se puso muy nerviosa y avergonzada, y puso una excusa sobre “escribir accidentalmente la cantidad incorrecta” en su sistema de pago. ¡Esto es muy sospechoso, considerando que la factura de impresión automática -fuera fue tomada del mismo sistema de pago- y decía una cantidad totalmente diferente! Por su lenguaje corporal y ciertas cosas extrañas que dijo, era obvio que no estaba diciendo la verdad. Este fue un intento flagrante de cobrar de más a mi tarjeta bancaria, y espero que no me diera cuenta de la sobrecarga! (Y estoy seguro de que no es una coincidencia que ella no me diera una recepción adecuada para que no pudiera comprobarlo. ¡Todo es muy, muy sospechoso! La comida mediocre no valía el dinero de todos modos, aunque me hubieran cobrado la cantidad correcta. Pero es repugnante la forma en que suben el precio con varios ‘complementos’ inesperados Y luego cobran una cantidad aún mayor a lo que claramente establece en la factura final. Estoy seguro de que esto NO fue solo un «error honesto». Fue un intento flagrante de cobrar de más a mi tarjeta bancaria, y espero no haberme dado cuenta. Y FINALMENTE... cuando finalmente acordaron reembolsar parcialmente el sobrecargo, todavía no me devolvieron la cantidad correcta – así que todavía estoy fuera – de mi bolsillo por bastante dinero. Este lugar es una estafa total, pero aparte de eso, la comida mediocre no vale el dinero de todos modos.

Llamé para almorzar, un domingo, y pedí las tortitas veganas con jarabe de arce y tocino vegano. La comida era deliciosa y llena. El personal era muy servicial, con un servicio perfecto.

Finally arrived here for brunch, on a weekday, because it's such a popular place of a Saturday morning. It was still busy but we were able to get a table. Having enjoyed a very tasty filling meal and a good coffee it's easy to see why this place is always popular.

Mientras vivo cerca de esta sucursal de House of Koko, en Harrogate Rd, en realidad prefiero la sucursal de Oakwood, por bastante margen. Aún ceno aquí de vez en cuando, más recientemente tomando las tortitas veganas con "bacon" vegano y jarabe de arce. Lo disfruté. Service was perfect. Food and coffee were good.

Liked it a lot but need to go a few more times and try other things before reviewing as 5 star. Recommended for sure.

House of KoKo is one of my favourite places to get a great cup of coffee or breakfast with the fam on a weekend. I personally lurrvve the pancakes but their entire menu is fab.

Lovely food and friendly staff. However, until the door is fixed I wouldn’t want to visit again. So draughty and every time someone came in the door didn’t close, blew open again. It really spoiled our experience.

We came here for breakfast to celebrate our anniversary. Great atmosphere, helpful staff and brilliant coffee. I really enjoyed decaf flat white and special juice including ginger, mint, apple etc❤️‍🔥 Highly recommended.

The staff are warm and welcoming. When it's not too busy, it's a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast pancakes are to die for, excellent coffee!

Trying to be a modern bistro but didn't really work for me..mainly eggs Benedict on the menu. I ordered eggs on toast which were over cooked and had a strong taste of vinegar. Also they add a service charge on to the bill. I wouldn't go back. Update. I don't mind getting a defence response to a review, but I do object to an offensive response. Apparently I should have done a lot of things different. The response has just as much vinegar in it as my eggs

Great place to relax and eat. The food is amazing well worth a visit . Been a few times now and tried different things and i have to say you know when your eating quality food . grest staff too.

Always an excellent and friendly experience! My go to coffee locally, but the food is also brilliant- whether you want sweet bakery items or a good breakfast or lunch. The pancakes are my favourite!!

We visited house of koko to order two coffees to go, we were asked to wait outside even though there was ample space inside out of the way of dining customers. No explanation was given as to why we had to either. We then had to wait for our two coffees outside in the cold for some time. When the coffees arrived we wanted sugar and again was told to wait outside while this was brought outside to us and not bring it in once finished with. Sorry to say we’re disappointed with our visit.

Recently popped in with a friend for brunch, food was excellent - ambiance as well. Staff was attentive despite how busy they were, especially the owner Rosita who made effort to seat us as quickly as possible. Thankyou House of Koko x

Great, lively atmosphere in this busy cafe. Friendly staff. Very interesting menu. Excellent coffee. Batata Hara with merguez ( Lebanese potatoes etc with lamb sausage and fried egg ) was really tasty - excellent. Also the pancakes with banana, bacon and maple syrup were excellent. Not a cheap breakfast but excellent.

Called in for coffee and cake for the first time today and weren’t disappointed. Great atmosphere, delicious cake and the most beautiful, friendly ginger cat who came to join us. We definitely will be back!!

Best place for brunch in Chapel A and maybe even Leeds

First time today with my daughter. I must say the food truly exceeded my expectation. It was very busy at the time and we were told to wait outside with the outdoor heating on. We were given a table inside fairly quickly. Not many cafes would do Turkish eggs and I’ve tried this at 3 different cafes and by far House of Koko is by far the best. The bread came with it was thick and fluffy. We’ll definitely be back again!

Was intimate and cosy, plus great having the outdoor terrace as a space as well Rosita and the team were brilliant as well, couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Rosita even set us up with a sound guy for full DJ rig and lights, which was dropped off and picked up by the venue, which made everything so much easier We'll be back for our usual brunches as ever, but think this will also be the first of many parties to come. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Arriving on my own with a couple of tables free, I was asked instead to sit at a stool with a narrow shelf facing the wall. Ordered a coffee and was given a menu, but in 25 minutes there nobody came to take my food order. Paid for coffee and the waitress was somewhat apologetic, but I could see her and the colleague who had seated me pointing to where I'd been and laughing about me as I left. You made me feel worse than unwelcome; you made me feel worthless.

Really love this place. The brunch dishes, the service and playlist are always banging! Love their coffees & cocktails too

Can't recommend this place highly enough! We hired House of Koko out as a venue for a 40th birthday do, great venue and Rosita and the team we're first class from start to finish. Highly recommend if you're looking for a venue away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, will definitely be booking again!

We hired House of Koko for a private event and everything with perfect. The staff are amazing and so helpful and the venue was perfect size for a private party. We will definitely be back for any future parties and recommending to all our friends too 🤩🤩

Just had a superb brunch with my daughter today at House of Koko. I’m disabled but it is no problem accessing kokos’s. It’s pancake day today so we had pancakes. We were spoilt for choice. They were absolutely amazing. Sorry it’s only once a year. First rate service, friendly hands on owner. Thank you Koko’s.

Cant comment on the food but me, my partner and a friend passed by the Chapel Allerton site to grab some drinks to take away the other week and honestly i think this was the worst iced coffee I’ve ever received. How can you make an iced caramel latte taste that bad? I wouldn’t have been fussed if it wasn't £4.50, the sixe of my pinkie, and actually tasted like coffee but it genuinely seemed like the barista had forgotten to add the coffee and caramel in. Not only was is the worst coffee ive ever had but we were literally sat waiting for 3 drinks for atleast 30 mins . Again, wouldnt have minded if it was worth the wait but. It really wasnt… such a shame because i wanted to like this place.

Awful experience. Cat inside the cafe, jumping on to my lap several times!! I did not realise I was at Kitty Cafe! Staff saw the cat and clearly know him/her or are the owners. Staff rude and unapologetic. I’ve been here once before had a different kind of poor experience but put it down to a one off. Clearly isn’t!

Service - Staff were lovely, attentive and helpful as always. Atmosphere - As typical for brunch locations on the outskirts of town, it's gentrification nation. Food - When comparing the food offering at House of Koko pre-Covid and post-covid it is night and day. Expecting all restaurants and eateries to overcome financial hardships and not to scrimp on quality ingredients is unrealistic so I will not and neither should you. Soup of the day, roasted fennel - This was the star of the order. So tasty and so fresh, no complaints. Hash browns - Freshly fried and satisfying, perfectly reminiscent of McDonald's hash browns. To me this is good. Salmon and eggs benedict - Arguably the trademark of House of Koko and the emblem of brunch itself and it fell flat. Perhaps this had been sitting waiting to be brought to the table, the hollandaise was bland and thin, the bread underneath had started to turn cold and soggy. Not great. Bacon and eggs benedict - All the preamble as above, somehow the sauce portion had been halved and the bacon was thin and dried. There's a thin line between crispy bacon and dry bacon. Dirty chai - Cold and a little bland Latte - Fine Rhubarb tea - nice, fresh and refreshing! Total - £50 Worth it? - As an admitted harsh critic not for me. However I know many people that return to House of Koko time upon time and have a fantastic experience, perhaps I received the short straw on the day, admittedly the place was totally packed and all staff were rushed off their feet working at peak brunch time on a Sunday it doesn't get much busier than that!

Having visited from overseas, this place was a treat. Staff went above and beyond. Food was well presented, imaginative and tasty. Will definitely be back!

First visit here. Very impressed with the cleanliness and the lovely staff. Food was great and reasonably priced. Only place I’ve been that wouldn’t accept a tip! It was pointed out that the service charge was already on the bill. Would unhesitatingly recommend this place.

Nice little café in the lower part of Chapel Allerton near Lidl. Good menu with plenty of choice including vegetarian options. Pleasant staff.

We went to the one at Oakwood which as recently opened. First visit after a recommend. A charming man called Paul served us. A very unusual menu but we wanted to give it a try. The upper deck is more cosy.The place its self is very laid back and casual. I had the Turkish eggs,Carol had the streaky bacon Bennie. No complaints ,on reflection I should have asked for extra toast,I will know next time. Carols was fine and enough for her. We will certainly go back and would recommend it to friends. Steve Pierce

Sadly have to say that we had a terrible experience here. Hair in a meal(pubic). Little apology. We were too polite. Bill reduced by a couple of quid. We should have reported to Leeds City Council. Horrible place.

So disappointed about this place. Place it self looked tired and looked like it could do with a good steam clean, Only popped in for a coffee, so glad I didn't eat there. Watched other tables complaining about their dishes. My coffee was not hot, mentioned it to staff and i got an 'attitude' stare glare. I'll know for next time. So many better coffee shops close by.

Good food with an array of options but small portion sizes that aren’t really as described on the menu, which is a shame as we heard a lot of hype about this place. Would try again, but in no rush as plenty of spots in the city. Service also wasn’t great… felt quite hostile and unwelcoming.

The food is excellent! I love that it isn't the usual typical brunch options and that most of them are veggie! It is rare that I struggle to decide on what to go for from a menu, so I can't wait to return to try more :)

Went with a friend ordered the below 3 pancakes Nutella and extra banana Turkish eggs Has brown and hollandaise sauce Iced vanilla latte Peach iced tea Diet coke. Total was £36 It seems really expensive for a really strange menu, Turkish breakfast items then sides of vegan meats etc. Just a really strange mix labelled 'brunch'. Waited a while to be served and then ordered the £7 pancakes with Nutella and £2 extra for banana aswell then it came with maple syrup. Then they gave me Nutella and charged for it aswell? Just seems noone really cared. Such a shame as the actual location is great. Not as good as previous visits.

Excellent cafe. Refreshing change from a classic cafe brunch menu. Coffee and cakes are brilliant!! Oakwood and Chapel Allerton locations are worth a visit.

Absolutely delicious soup of the day with THE best cheese toastie. Mizo and noodle soup…thought I’d go for something different, it did not disappoint. We ate at Oakwood Koko, how have I lived in Leeds so long and never eaten here!

100 percent the best place for brunch in the area and I’d actually say the best place in Leeds. Great presentation and each meal is bursting with flavour. I cannot recommend enough. Hats off to the chef and all the friendly team there.

Great Brunch, Amazing coffee and cakes! Always just what we need.

My son and I had a fantastic lunch here. The menu is very different and so inviting that I struggled to decide what to eat. I opted for the Bubble & Squeak which was inventive and tasty. I loved the crispy onion Bhaji which was a perfect accompaniment to the potato cake and poached egg. Fabulous contrasting flavours and textures which really complimented one another. The homemade lemon and ginger iced tea was the perfect partner to my meal as it was both refreshing and cleansing. To top this off the front of house staff were super friendly and helpful creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back again and again. Thank you House of Koko.

I came for the first time expecting some good food and good tea. This wasn’t the case…. Because it was so good. The flavour of the soup(Tomato and basil); it had so much depth with the tangibles ans the sweetness and the cheese toss it’s had a lovely crunchy along with the silkiness of the cheese. Very warm welcome from the staff, made us feel very welcome. Food, drinks, service & atmosphere was 10/10. Never had Turkish Eggs before & it really hit the stop with a side of Grilled Halloumi 😍 Would defo recommend & will be back again for sure!!

It's a bit of a trek for me to get to, but it's consistently worth it in Aces! Absolutely love their pancakes - the cake range full-stop is incredible - but it's the mains where they truly dominate. World cuisine brought to Chapel A, what's not to love?! Staff always seem dead friendly, and the place is lovely - get down & get fed!

My recent experience at house of Koko left me so impressed with the quality of their food and choices. There’s something for everyone. The presentation of the meals were also impressive …I love it when my food tastes as good as it looks. Excellent staff very friendly and welcoming. 10/10 we will be back

Amazing food and service once again. This time I had the brioche bacon butty and loaded hash browns. It was lovely, the bacon was nice and crispy and the coffee is always good.

We arrived with my friend, hoping for a nice lunch break. The place was busy and loud (music + people), so we sat outside. We have ordered coffees( with oats milk, but the one we received was with dairy milk), soup and mains. The day's soup was served together with mains, and we struggled with space as the tables were super small. Before we finished with soup (tomato with basil 5 out of 10), the second dish was completely cold, so it's hard to say if it was good 😔 Overall, the place has potential, but the staff needs some training on serving food. On a positive note, it's dogs friendly 👍

Service was good - warm and friendly but my food was not good. It was over salted and the lamb sausage was very over cooked. Very disappointed given that it looks so promising from the presentation and menu.
