The Dancing Crayfish Cafe in East Hertfordshire

Terrible. Had omelette with cheese and onion it was literally dripping in oil, the salad that it was served with was also drenched in cooking oil. Unable to eat more than 2 mouthfuls as you could taste the cooking oil. Took it back, which didn’t seem to go down too well. Would only refund one as my husband had eaten half of his before he could eat no more. Not the best experience and probably overpriced for what it is also.

Want here after my swim 1150 am but was told they were too busy to to food and not cooking says it all really young staff not enough of them can't cope

We have walked down the river twice but the gate is always shut now, so you have to go by car, the access road is horrendous, potholed all the way down, if you value your car don't! The cafe really isn't great, there is a smell of burnt fat as you walk in, the staff were distracted with their small very noisy children and the English breakfast was reheated . Not an experience to repeat

I arrived at 10.15am , it was meant to open at 10am but I had to wait for someone to come and serve. I ordered a bacon roll. When it arrived the roll had mould on the bottom. She was apologetic and made me another one which was fine. If you eat in the cafe you can then use the beach area and lake for free ( normal charge £7.50) Nice setting by the lake.

The worst breakfast ever. We had to leave it. Snotty eggs , cheap sausages, deep fried mushrooms (yuk) cold toast Generally, a bad experience all round. Why try to cut back on ingredients with this great British institution. They are the losers.

Despite the website saying they offer 'traditional home cooked food, across Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch. All our food is freshly prepared and cooked on the premises' It really isn't, and if you like Farm foods cheapest range then this place is for you.

Place your order before arriving as every hour when each session finishes there is a huge demand for food and drinks. Service bit of a mish mash and food came in dribs and drabs. Menu great for hungry kids and teens - Pizza, burgers, etc. good value.

Though a lovely setting the staff in the cafe are really slow and actually look like they can’t be bothered. Took 15 mins to prepare two coffees, could be so much better if they bucked their ideas up

We have had several meals at this very nice cafe the food is good staff are friendly and attentive.my personal favourites are the scallop and bacon roll or the excellent breakfast.

Love this little cafe ....the staff are lovely ....it has a lovely atmosphere... They do a very good scallop and bacon roll... And lots of other good lunches too. . Even do a roast on a Sunday .... Beautiful setting by the lake ....get down there .x

Not really a jewel in the crown more fools gold when you walk past on a dog walk and see NO DOGS signs plastered everywhere. Surely dog walkers make up a large percentage of footfall. Stupid in this day and age when most dogs are better behaved than kids.
