Paid to see an elvis impersonator, we were crammed in like sardines, the service was shocking, the sound system was terrible, unfortunately this is a typical council estate pub, avoid

We have been to the Dalesman twice in order to try out the food menu. Both visits, we have been informed that food isn't available and didn't explain as to why. This was rather confusing as advertisements for a food menu (Monday to Saturday) is outside the venue and online which is very misleading. Upon staying for drinks, staff were not greeting or giving any form of acknowledging to those at the bar unless you are a local, which didn't give a very warm welcome or good first impression. Upon approaching the bar, the bar maid instantly asked for IDs (There was no hello or even asking what we wanted to drink) in a very demanding tone which was very rude and disrespectful. We wanted to come for food but was told "No". This venue tends to the locals well, but if you're someone who's coming from out of town or a visitor, you don't feel welcome.

This was my first visit since the Dalesman had reopened after a much needed refurb, the result was very pleasing. The pub was very quiet, only to be expected shortly after opening on a particularly cold school day. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food that I ordered was tasty and done to perfection.

We have eaten here on a lot of occasions, Sunday lunches been a favourite. We visited today Sunday, after a break due to lockdowns etc. The food was ok, pretty average, no where near as nice as it used to be. The staff were abrupt, not very welcoming or friendly. The staff yelling at each other from the tables through to the kitchen. Pleases and thanks you definitely lacking. Not sure what's gone wrong, as it used to be lovely and friendly.

We stopped here/tried to stop here for tea, we tried to book in advance however the lady that picked up the phone promised us that we don’t need to book and we will be able to go and get seated. However upon arrival we was told that they don’t have any more seats inside due to them all being reserved. So we asked if we could eat outside due to the weather being nice and lots of free tables in the beer garden however they refused to serve food in the beer garden which is strange and not usual. We then called in later to have a drink in the beer garden and it seemed surprisingly quiet inside. We believe/could feel that this pub is mainly for locals and don’t try and cater for visitors and wider customers. Very disappointed will never return in my life unless dragged there. However the ice cream factory had a completely different feel, they catered for our needs and had lots of local knowledge and very friendly defo a place worth visiting.

The Dalesman is full of wonderful staff who so kindly look after my grandad who is 90years old! He goes in almost daily for his full English breakfast (which is one of the best I have ever tasted) The staff are so friendly and welcoming If your looking for a friendly place to have a meal or a drink then the Dalesman is the place to go.

The wonderfully refurbished Dalesman threw us a cracker of a Christmas dinner for 10. The varied menu catered for all our dietary whims, and nothing disappointed. It's worth going just for the mac 'n' cheese bites and caramel roulade.

Went with the other halfs family for a meal, they didnt get the booking right so had to move us to the back room (only way out to the smoking area). For a revamped pub the doors still only open outwards which is no good for my other half as she needs a wheelchair and there is no assisted door opening button so we had to struggle to get through the doors as we arrived after her family, could not access the smoking area out back properly has it has stairs so my other half found this a struggle. The food we had was from their "festive" menu but honestly most of it looked like it was straight from the co op round the corner. It takes a special someone to burn Yorkshire puddings and even more so of a poor uncaring chef to actually send them out along with luke warm burgers, cold hard sprouts, cold mashed potatoes and 1 medium sized piece of turkey each. Atmosphere is as it used to be before the revamp quiet and the people rude, one even went as far as knocking the high chair and causing the food to be flung over the floor. It was a good job the young one had finished as the guy didnt even apologise for it and carried out walking out the door.

Came here last night as it's our local, never been before and I'll be honest, it had a bad reputation previously so I didn't really know what to expect. We had some food, which was really nice! They had karaoke on, the staff and the locals were all lovely. Will be back :)

I took a walk to the bakery to see if they supplied fresh bread. I checked the opening hours and when I arrived it was closed. Wasted journey. Looks a nice place from the outside though.

Went for the first time for my son's birthday to give him a treat. The atmosphere was the first ick, sadly. Using outdated fabrics and an odd table and booth layout. And during a time they should have been busy, we were one of only a few. For much of our time, we were alone. Their cold stone for the ice cream was severely broken, and it looked like it was filthy, or sludge, coming out from under it. Only positive for the atmosphere is the display of all the sweets. They did look really good. Tables had empty dishes on them while the girls in the back didn't look very busy. The one was polite and apologetic, and didn't seem to know much about what was available or not. The other was quiet. For food....sub-par. Taste was alright, brownies for the fondue were really good aside from being a bit old/dry on the edges. They were out of half of the things we asked for. Many of the drinks, including OJ, were missing. We had to go to their cooler ourselves to see what they had, which wasn't much. Same when ordering, I ended up not getting anything for myself and had to modify my son's chocolate fondue order because they didn't have enough cookies for the order. This place has potential. If they modernized it, make it more sleek and professional to match the style of the menu, deep cleaned, updated their equipment, and actually trained their staff, and had better product management....this place could be a hot spot easily.

We’ve just been to the art gallery café for lunch we won’t be going back. They sell scones but they’ve run out of jam What kind of business can’t even organise going to the shop and getting a pot of jam. Leeds city council should be ashamed of themselves.
