The Curry Republic in Stratford-on-Avon

Had it not been for other people's glowing reviews on Tripadvisor, the rather neglected exterior of Curry Republic would probably have meant we would never have gone in. We're so glad we did! Absolutely delicious food, service with a smile and a very reasonable bill. We shall look forward to our next visit.

We occasionally try other curry houses, but we always return to The Curry Republic. Customer service is superb, the food is amazing and we've never had a bad experience. Last night, my son asked for a dish they couldn't prepare (no scallops), but they went through the options with him - what was it he wanted and suggested they make a fish jalfrezi (not on the menu). When it arrived, it was superb - just the right strength/flavour. Both my (mixed biryani) and my wife's (chicken tika masala) currys were really really good too. Can't fault them. We'll be back (again and again).

Excellent small Indian Resaurant (25 covers). For months we have been seeking a replacement for Chutneys which closed in Stratford to make way for a housing estate. Curry Republic fits the bill in Spades. Excellent freshly prepared, very tasty dishes. The usual favourites and some excellent unusual house specialities. The chefs cook at the back where you can see what's going on. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. One odf our party of five commented "the best indian ever". Recommended wiothout hesitation

Henley is about half way for meeting some friends and we fancied a curry and we were not disappointed. All 5 of us enjoyed the food ranging from Vindaloo to Chicken Tikka Masala. Staff were spot on and all in all I’d certainly make the effort to return. It’s only small (about 25 covers) and had a very lively atmosphere which was probably helped by England winning the rugby !

Best balti and service I’ve had in years,great atmosphere highly recommend seekh kebab too .nice to actually see the chefs at work cooking lovely food ,will be back soon 👍they even made gulam jamon and ice cream for the women👍

Delicious food served by friendly and attentive staff. Give it a try and find out for yourselves, we have never been disappointed by them. Dishes you won’t find elsewhere.

I visited this fine establishment on a cold evening in Henley in Arden. My daughter and I had a selection of starters, tarka dall and a freshly baked herbie naan bread all cooked by the Chef/owner Raj! I must say (a chef myself), that the standard of food was very high. Spices just right and less food colouring. It was very appetising ... I cannot wait to return again!

Really good service and excellent freshly cooked tasty food. One of the best Indian restaurants we have eaten in. We had poppadoms and chutneys and then sheek kebab, lamb tikka and chicken pakora starters followed by Garlic Chilli Chicken, Chicken Tikka Massala and chicken Murgh Tawa with egg fried rice and garlic, keema naan. All of the dishes exceeded our expectations. We have visited other Indian restaurants in the area, but this is now our favourite.

Never been before and thought it looked a bit worn from the outside. However, the restaurant inside is small and immaculate. You can see straight into the kitchen as food is being prepared which I loved. Being of Indian origin myself I can be quite fussy about Indian food, this was cooked perfect and the flavours were delicious. The service was exceptional. Definitely be visiting again.

Was driving back home from a work trip in Scotland, decided that the local area was worth a stop and found this great restaurant. Excellent visit, food was great and service was fantastic. Some of the staff were clearly new and learning but did a fantastic job. Would definitely visit again!

This place is unreal. The food surpassed expectation, as an avid curry lover I’m quite picky where I go. This is my regular as it honestly surpasses expectation. If you’re a fan of a “real curry” this is your go-to. Book to avoid disappointment as it fills up quick

I have given so many reviews about this incredible restaurant yet they are all 100% deserved. Raj and his staff are super friendly, the food is always incredible and I have yet to find another Indian restaurant that provides such consistently high quality, so much so that I have long stopped looking. If you love Indian food that really does taste fresh and shows off every distinct flavour you need to try this restaurant. Try the Garlic Chilli Chicken if you like an extra bit of spice or a slightly milder Murgh Khata Jaal which is also truly beautiful and my wife's favourite. GS Solihull

Had an enjoyable evening at Curry Republic , last week . Waiters very attentive and helpful . Raj chef/ owner made time to come and chat to us . My husband said it was the tastiest curry he’d had in a long time ….. which is praise indeed !! Looking forward to a return visit .

Recommended and didn’t disappoint. Very refreshing different menu, so I had fish for both courses. Hubby had his usual faves. Friendly staff and chef patron. Very reasonably priced too!

Without doubt the best Indian restaurant in Henley. Consistently great food - so fresh, full of flavour. Lots of choice - helpful and friendly staff.

Rang on the off chance of a reservation, was seated within 10 minutes of phone call! Food was delicious, waiter was absolutely spot on and attentive.. beer was ice cold! Just the way we like it.. thank you very much and we will be back for more.. recommend to anyone!

Visited Curry Republic for a family meal - great service, great atmosphere but above all great food !

Popped in for a takeaway whilst working in the area. Very basic restaurant but with some interesting Indian themed art and an open kitchen so you can see the chefs in action. I thought the food was average at best really. Madras was well spiced but overall I thought the meal was average at best.

We 'discovered' The Curry Republic from Trip Advisor recommendation and how pleased we are to discover this 'fantastic gem in Henley-in-Arden. This 'authentic' Bangladeshi owned restaurant, provided delicious, freshly cooked dishes, that you don't usually find in a 'typical' Indian restaurant. You could taste all the spices and fragrant ingredients. Its small, so we were lucky to get in and it was very reasonably priced, good portion sizes and nice cold draught Kingfisher! Friendly and knowledgeable waiters, making this visit a real joy and ensuring a repeat trip very soon!

We have now had a couple of takeaway meals from this restaurant and they were all amazing!! Food really freshly cooked with amazing flavours. This is a truly awesome restaurant and we highly recommend it to everyone! Best takeaway curry we’ve ever experienced!

First time we have used Curry Republic and it won't be the last! We used the delivery service, the food was ordered for a 7pm delivery, it arrived bang on time, delivery driver was so polite, and the food was piping hot. I cannot tolerate nuts or coriander, I let the guy know when I placed the order, he said he would let the chef know and he did. My curry was the best I have ever tasted, succulent large pieces of chicken and not a nut or coriander in sight. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal too. So, pleased I have found a local restaurant who listened to what I had ordered! I highly recommend Curry Republic and we will definitely use again. D M Henley in Arden

I ordered a takeaway online and the delivery time was selected for 638pm one hour later nothing so I called they said its best to call as we are busy well don't offer an online service if you can't cope.. They assured me the driver was on his way 5 mins.. I had to be at work at 8pm and the curry still hadn't arrived.. My neighbour advised me you turned up at 830pm sorry 2 hours late is unacceptable and as I was at work I grabbed a sandwich.. I understand you were busy but no courtesy call you dearly hadn't checked online and pretended the food was on its way not good service.. Shame we have always enjoyed your food but the service is shocking.

We went for dinner the other night and it was really good. Tables well spread out, very good staff and lovely food.

Last night I had delivered a Chicken and King Prawn Biriyani and my wife had a Murgh Khata Jaal (probably incorrect spelling) and the food was magnificent and I do mean magnificent. Best takeaway we have ever had and this restaurants quality never fails...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !.

We ordered a takeaway from here in the week and it was delicious and didn't taste greasy as some curries sometimes do. The poppadums were really good and came with a great selection of sauces! The curries were a good spice level and had great depth of flavour.

It is great to visit the socially distanced setup at the Curry Republic and really enjoy the wonderful food again. Thanks Raj and team

Just had a lovely family meal here, the food was absolutely lovely and everything tasted so fresh. I had the chicken biryani which is my favourite curry and i can honestly say its one of the best i’ve ever had (& i’ve had many over the years!) The staff are all lovely & very welcoming, it’s the 1st time we’ve ventured out to eat as a family since the lockdown happened but the staff are clearly doing everything they possibly can to protect both themselves & us at this difficult time, including great Cleanliness and the track & trace. We’ll definitely be going back soon!

Really enjoyable meal at the Curry Republic. Really fresh tasty food. I had the Chingri Ruposhi Lohari which was excellent, thoroughly recommend. Best I have had in ages!

Last night my family went back to our favourite Indian restaurant and all I can say is it was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. The meal was the best we have ever had, not just there but in any Indian Restaurant in U.K.. Thank you to all the staff for a fab visit. And we are so pleased that we chose to dine in. See you again soon.

We have had some very nice meals in this restaurant but after the dreadful takeaway we had last night we will not be going back. The meat in all our different dishes was overcooked and tough. How you even sent it out is hard to understand as the meat even looked like it had been sitting around, drying out for some time. Possibly it had been re heated too many times, I don't know but it was inedible. I would have taken it back but circumstances did not allow me to. Not good enough Curry Republic, by a very very long way. Back to Naya for us.

This restaurant never fails to deliver quality food with the most attentive friendly staff..highly recommended.

Meal was with a very good frind, first time he has been to the Curry Republic and is already asking when we can go again, first class food, very friendly and helpful staff, what more can you ask? even had the Chef come to the table and ask if everything was good, so very happy to recommend as a curry lover.

Great personal service. Locals so always know my order along with my children. Madras used to be a lot better but could be a different chef. Will be back soon

Small restaurant, furnished functionally, not the place to go for atmosphere but then you don't always go for a curry for the surroundings.Pleasant greeting and efficient service from staff. Some different items on the menu, good choice of fish, some dishes really good but not all - salmon can vary and theirs tasted like the the cheaper stuff. Ordered pistacchio kulfi and got almond (which wasn't on menu). When this was pointed out they replied "Almond is very good" and walked off without offering to take it back. It was good kulfi, but that's not really the point..

Been looking for a good curry house for ages since my previous favourite closed ... and now we've found it! Only a small place so quite intimate. Staff so friendly, food really tasty without being too spicy and so reasonably priced given Henley is so nice (much cheaper than similar standard restaurants in Bham city centre)

I did not realize this was a Halal meat business, of which I dont want to eat for many reasons. Halal is a product/meat is based and in accordance with the islamic requirements. As I am not a Muslim and for other reasons I will not be using the Restaurant.

On an evening out before a friend`s wedding, due to take place the next day, we were so pleased to visit this welcoming restaurant. The Curry Republic offers beautiful quality, wholesome food well prepared by their efficient chefs, thoughtful and caring staff and good value for money. It made our evening in Henley special. If this was our local Indian reastaurant at home, it would be at the top of our list. Excellent food, Thank you to all.

Nice small restaurant with friendly staff and plenty on the menu to choose from.food was very tasty but could have done with more in the rice portion to complement the main dish. Meal was reasonably priced so would visit again.

Took dinner here this evening with my wife and youngest son. All dishes were excellent...full of flavour, hot, distinctive with fresh taste of real soices. Table service excellent. Attentive rapid. Charming host. All in all, an excellent evening meal and strongly recommended.

Raj and his team produce the best quality Indian food in the village. The specials are awesome and the staff curry is real authentic Bangladeshi cooking. Never disappointed with super friendly service.

Lovely fresh cooked fish curries. And you can see your food being cooked. Staff very attentive, friendly. So glad we went ....especially as it has been so hot today....not exactly curry weather. Shall certainly be back.

Just had a great garlic & chilli chicken curry with garlic nan ...other half had the same with a stuffed paratha.. and chapati ..he said the best stuffed paratha he has had in a very long time ...home delivery came with a beer each ... recommend and will have again ..thank you

Met with friends and had one of the best meals I have had for a long time, I travel the globe on business and tonights meal is one of the best Curry’s I have had for some time, the staff are so friendly, highly recommended👍

It was the Eurovision Song Contest and what could be a better way of enjoying it with a group of friends than to order in a curry? As ever the curry was great though it is debatable if we could say the same for Eurovision - maybe great fun?

A sincere, warm welcome awaits you at this little gem! This compact, cosy restaurant serves beautifully presented authentic Indian food. The many vegetarian dishes are so delicious and packed with flavour. Everything from the tandoor is so good...and no red colouring in sight! I cannot overstate just how fresh and unprocessed is the food.

Decided at last minute to pop out for a curry. Glad we did. This compact little restaurant served the most delicious curry I've had for ages. We were lucky to get a table as it was busy but were welcomed warmly, and even got a chorus of happy birthday. A friendly and welcoming establishment, good food, good service and good value. Will return.

Used to like the place, only ever had delivery or take-away. This weekend's one was awful,not good meat, greasy, shame (chef change?) - not going to risk again

I’ve been orderng curry from The Curry Republic for many years and have never been disappointed. Ive been many times with my family and have introduced many friends to this gem in the heart of Henley in Arden. Whether we eat in the warm and welcoming restaurant or order a takeaway the quality is just as good every time. The spices and flavours of the freshly prepared dishes are exceptional and you can tell that the meals are freshly prepared by the friendly chefs at the restaurant. The owner Raj is always warm and welcoming. Even when the restaurant is fully booked he will make time to say hello to everyone. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys curry packed with rich flavour and anyone who appreciates authentic and fresh dishes. Make sure you book ahead so you aren’t disappointed as it gets booked up fast!

Brilliant service and brilliant food! Nothing more to say. I had the veggie stuffed pepper starter and the chicken tikka main. Was delicious :P

I visited this restaurant with my wife and some family and friends after a recommendation. I ordered the Naga Kebab to start which was absolutely amazing, I will keep going back for that alone! I went double naga that evening and went for a king prawn naga curry for main. Nice and spicy and the prawns were still lovely and juicy! I will be back here in the new year as it’s one of the best curries I’ve had. Thanks! We will see you soon!

I have visited this restaurant quite a few times now and the quality of the food just keeps getting better and better. I travel extensively in my job and with time being so scarce, great food is for me an essential as opposed to a luxury and Curry Republic always deliver not only first class Indian cuisine but also a very friendly attentive service.

Please physically check your order before you leave and even though the waiter went through my order with me, everything on paper was correct.

Food was at best average.. but the surprise came upon tearing open the naan bread... and discovering a part of a blue elastic disposable glove inside.. upon raising the issue with the waiter.. there really was'nt much of an opology or concern... we wont be dining here again!

Authentic homemade gourmet fine Indian cuisine. The only way we can describe it. As a family of 4 we are used to leaving other curry houses over stuffed almost a bit Ill however at curry republic the food is in just the right quantities and is superb in flavour. The best curry house in Warwickshire

This has to be one of the worst take aways I have experienced. There were 4 different dishes ordered and not one looked good. I had a chicken biriani and it was tasteless. My wife had chicken madras and it was delivered in what I can only describe a container of orange coloured oil. We eat a lot of Indian food but this was not a good experience.

Another fantastic take away from the Curry Republic. Delivered to the door despite our friends house being isolated and difficult to find. Lovely food, good value and great service.....highly recommended!

I visited this restaurant for a dinner during the week. The service was great. The staff were friendly. Recommend the Lamb Naga Kebab. Very hot but delicious.

This little gem at the bottom of Henley in Arden High Street is worth a visit. Small dining room but a good atmosphere and Raj and his staff cant do enough to make you welcome.

I have eaten here hundreds of times but I don't think I have ever done a review. The atmosphere is always friendly. The staff are all excellent and they are great with children. It is good to be able to see the food being cooked through the glass partition.

Friday night - friends visiting the area - good place to eat good food in a friendly yet informal setting. Proper yummy indian fayre with an open kitchen spilling those lovely fragrances. uncomplicated, and just what a Friday night curry house should be!

This is a small restaurant so has quite a cosy atmosphere. The service was good and very friendly while the food was very tasty.

After a long day at work me and my flat mate came here for something to eat,the waiter who served us was Mitch he was absolutely out of this world so friendly and funny as well, perfect food that not one of us could pick a fault with will deffinatley be back and will highly recommend,,,,,,

Four of us ate at the CR and really enjoyed the night. The menu is typical in many respects but has its own slant on certain dishes. Staff are really friendly and there was a good choice of wines. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Couple of drinks along the high street and ended up here by accident. What a find. Was a lovely meal. I had chicken tikka dhansak with spinach and shared mushroom rice with my friend. All tasted lovely. Everyone said there’s was good. Definitely go again. Starters where good too.

Got a take away from here for 8 of us . Staff were very attentive and polite . Although I had to wait 10 mins after the food was meant to be ready , they did give a free beer whilst I waited . We had 12 popas and chutney plus 7 curries with rice , nans all for £73 . Will definitely get my next take away from

Enjoyed my curry very much. Small restaurant but nice atmosphere and great selection of dishes. They will also make dishes to your own taste if you ask.

We ate here on the advise of the locals we got chatting to in The White Swan & I am glad we did. Incredible authentic food cooked & served by very enthusiastic staff. The portions were so generous that we had to take doggy bags home :)

And yes I'm glad I finally got around to going. Went with a curry monster mate and he said it was the best curry he'd had for ages. Nice relaxed and friendly service, gorgeous flavours and for once, plenty of vegetables in the curry. Minor complaint about the beer, it was a bit flat other the that it was all spot on. Will definitely go again!

This place is very small and that makes it too intimate for me. The food was enjoyable but nothing exceptional. The staff however were very friendly.

I attended a birthday party this week and was so impressed by this local restaurant. From arrival they couldn’t do...

A fantastic meal, with each dish beautifully cooked and presented by a great team of attentive staff. The tandoori mixed was superb (and huge!) and the gohst curries were to die for. A side of silky smooth dhaal and perfectly cooked naan and popadoms polished off what was a great evening. Highly recommended!

The food is always outstandingly good, fresh and delicious. The menu is a mixture of old favourites and new dishes. Very lively and busy, it is a must to book especially at the weekend. We love it here and always take our curry loving friends here when they visit Henley. The take aways are great too and they even deliver!! We came here on Friday night and were delighted as always.

We have been coming to curry republic for a while, and the food is just fantastic! The chef comes out to say hello and greet the customers, complimentary drinks, they go the extra mile to ensure we have a fantastic evening! They never let us down!

Very diverse menu--curry dishes had just the right amount of heat (for me). One of my friends asked for hot and was not disappointed (as many times hot for him is not hot enough). Yummy naan too. Chickpea bread served upon arrival with relishes and chutney were excellent as well.

We enjoyed an excellent meal once again tonight with a dining club/group.

Well worth booking this place on any day as it's not that big a restaurant. However the food is top-notch, service efficient and friendly plus you get a free bottle of wine with your takeaway!
