The Curry Republic in Stratford-on-Avon

Don't be put off by the somewhat uninspiring exterior. This place is about the food and the service. Absolutely delicious, freshly cooked and well presented. A gem.

We had a very friendly welcome from the manager when we visited. A busy place with lots of takeaways being collected and delivered out. Food was freshly cooked, well presented and tasty. Very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Great food and you can see them cooking

I visited this fine establishment on a cold November evening in Henley in Arden. We had a selection of starters, tarka dall and a freshly baked herbie naan bread all cooked by the Chef/owner Raj! I must say (chef myself) that the standard of food was very high. Spices just right and less food colouring. It was very appetising ... I cannot wait to return again!

Consistantly fantastic food and great service, our favourite Indian restaurant in the area.

Really lovely food, had egg salmon with aloo palak and chicken tikka balti ! Both were really flavourful and finally a curry house where everything isn’t so sweet, I find a lot of curry’s now are way too sweet and these weren’t which was great. Service was attentive and was nice to see a place so busy early midweek. Would definitely go again.

Lovely staff, good service and good-ish food. Some items on the menu are nice but so so so so so much oil that quite a few items are not nice. If I can't get a table at Naya just up the road, I might eat here... But the oil content is really off putting. Some things on the menu just taste like Pataks curry paste, which whilst that's ok.. if I wanted a Pataks curry I would buy a jar from Tesco and make it myself.

It's worth searching the Henley high street for a parking space as I am still yet to find a better curry than this place. 10/10

I never used to like Indian food until recently. The portions are of a good size. Takeout places are a dime a dozen here in the UK so you probably won't have a bad experience. I liked the chicken biryani. It was filling and a good option.

You know this is a good place when the takeaway kerala fish curry you order is cooked to perfection. Often the fish is completely overcooked but not at The Curry Republic! My favourite place for a curry in Henley and surroundings, it's always a treat to eat here!

Boycotted since 2019 due to hair in food and staff refusal to refund or apologise. Used to be a regular. Definitely wasn't my hair, I'm bold :/ 0*

Great food. Really like the flavour of the food. They don’t add too many spices as other curry restaurants do.

Food and service was excellent as always.

Very good curries with a generous portion, attentive fast service. All-round could not ask for more minor quibble that the restaurant itself is a little basic and lacks charm of some other Indian restaurants like the Bilash in Knowle.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Birmingham/ Warwickshire! I've been coming here for years and the staff are always lovely and the food is absolutely delicious. Between my family, friends and I, we've tried half the menu and all dishes have been excellent. (I could also eat their poppadoms all day...)

First time we have used Curry Republic and it won't be the last! We used the delivery service, the food was ordered for a 7pm delivery, it arrived bang on time, delivery driver was so polite, and the food was piping hot. I cannot tolerate nuts or coriander, I let the guy know when I placed the order, he said he would let the chef know and he did. My curry was the best I have ever tasted, succulent large pieces of chicken and not a nut or coriander in sight. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal too. So, pleased I have found a local restaurant who listened to what I had ordered! I highly recommend Curry Republic and we will definitely use again.

Just had the most fantastic takeaway meal from Curry Republic. Their food never fails to hit the spot. We travel out of Stratford to come here. Most highly recommended.

Restaurant full tables not spaced apart very well so covid hard to manage food not as good as previous visits.

Hair in food, customer service was atrocious! They tried to offer me a discount off my next order to begin with and then proceeded to haggle over what refund to give. The refund wasn't actually something I was bothered about, I'd have preferred an apology but they were more like, ah well it happens. More than half of the food we'd ordered hadn't been taken out of the containers and I was tempted to take it back down to them as I'd also lost my appetite and the guy on the phone had wound me up more. Used to be a once or twice a month customer but haven't used them since pubegate. I now use Naya and haven't looked back. Food is actually better and they offer a good discount for collection orders. Curry Republic seemed more concerned about retaining custom without cost hence them haggling over a discount rather than apologising and ultimately led to them loosing my custom. I did get a 50% refund but with less than 50% of the food being eaten I should have demanded a full refund but I couldn't be bothered with arguing or haggling with them. Highly recommended Naya, food is very, very good

First time visit to The Curry Republic..! Will endeavour to go again as the menu choices were so varied, one needs to revisit to experience the others..! The usual selection of the well known dishes but a fair share of new unknowns to eventually dine upon... A compact and bejue place though was picking up custom from regulars as must be very popular...given a 4.6 rating out of 5 so that speaks volumes of quality..!!

Always enjoyed food there but haven’t been for some time - my car was stolen from home when we were last there, but I won’t hold them responsible, although, had they not taken the ridiculously long time it took them to serve us that night, we would have been home before it happened. Anyway, we were looking to come tonight but I ‘ve just seen they only have a 3 for food hygiene. Until they can improve this I shan’t be going back again now.

Very basic interior but the food makes up for that. The best prawns I have had in ages. Beats Naya & Henley Tandoori hands down.

Fabulous tastes of India spectacular

The best curry house in Henley in Arden. A varied menu with traditional Indian dishes plus they will cook anything you ask for. Very comfortable surroundings that are warm and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is wonderful. A wide variety of drinks are available including a very refreshing cider made here in Warwickshire. The kitchen is visible behind a glass screen so you can watch your food being prepared if you wish to. Give it a visit, you won't be disappointed. Visited again on Monday and had our food cooked by Raj the owner himself. He excelled himself and the food was absolutely fantastic. I would give 6 stars if it were possible.

They opened probably over 10 years ago now and I can still safely say it's my favourite curry house on the Henley High Street, which is saying something because they are all pretty darn good - highly recommend.

Great food and atmosphere. Definitely try the Kerala fish curry if you're in for something mild and sweet.

Great meal only spoilt by other rowdy diners.

Good food but quite small and intimate

I had a takeaway, whilst sat waiting I could see what a great job the front of house and back of house were doing (open kitchen) very happy buzz about the team, really polite, very small venue but there was no rush to turn the tables over. We ordered your standard, rice, curry naans and couple of sides. That has to have been one of the best Pathias and Kormas we've ever ordered, they even garnished the curry in the takeaway tub, nice touch. Naans were soft and flavoursome. The naga lamb kebab, nice kick and full of flavour! And if they haven't won you over yet, slipped two bottles of bud in the bag! Top effort!
