The Cuckfield in Redbridge

The food was good but the actual customer service was poor. We had to do everything ourselves. No one asked us once about if we were okay or would we like to order. We got up and got our drinks, ordered our meals and went and paid all at the bar. The place wasn’t busy but the staff were just so lethargic, strolling around but not making us feel welcome. We had fish and chips, we were offered no condiments which is weird. I’d taken friends out for a lunch for his birthday so didn’t make a fuss but I was so disappointed. Also customers shouldn’t be able to place a pram across the fire exit. I don’t know what else to say apart from it was poor.

Been coming for decades, the garden is an excellent place for outdoor or covered drinking or dining. Usually a good atmosphere and staff on the ball. Sadly, some of the Sunday Roasts were dry / cold but this was quickly remedied by the staff. All other food well prepared.

Friendly and welcoming pub with huge beer garden for summer time, varied menu and good range of drinks. Buzzy but with plenty of space to find a nice spot for an afternoon or evening.

Great selection of craft beers and good variety of options on menu including vegan option, also they have pizza at the weekend!

We were here to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday with a few friends. It was good to see that we could order at our table using the pub’s app. However, we were unable to set up a tab. The staff seemed to o my read part of the order cos they brought the nibbles but forgot our drinks. Similarly, when the food was ordered they missed my starter off (or got it wrong, I can’t remember now) and brought the wrong main meal. This menu was eating after everyone else in both cases. But, I have to say that, when it arrived, food was delicious. Possibly the best Calamari I’ve ever eaten. So soft and juicy. And the sirloin steak was cooked just how I hoped it would be with delicious, hot chips. Not much served with it and although the menu said watercress, which I really love, it was actually a ball of rolled up rocket leaves. Not quite so appealing. The vanilla cheesecake served with popcorn and honeycomb was the perfect way to end the celebrations!

This is one of my favorite pubs to go to on a Sunday. If you are looking for a nice place to have Sunday roast I would recommend you try this place..The service is always great, their food is great and in summer they have a garden where you can sit and enjoy the sun. I would definitely recommend it

I've been twice in the last month. First was for Christmas drinks with my family and then for drinks and food on Fri night with a friend. It's so beautiful in there since the pub was redecorated, made such a difference. The bar staff were quick and friendly. Food arrived without a long wait and was great. Really nice pub to visit day or night.

We had Christmas dinner, Sobhian served us and her friendliness and attentiveness made the whole experience even better’ The table was set beautifully, with a Christmas card which was a lovely touch. Poor service on a Sunday late afternoon. Sat down and told no roast chicken and everything else running low “ just saying” then walked away not to return. Ended up ordering at the bar. Cold roast, under cooked vegetables and two shop bought frozen roasts. Nearly £20 a head for this!

Looks nice from the outside but food sadly lacking. The nourish bowl is priced at £11.50 and consists of a bit of hummus, rocket and a few chick peas and pomegranate - not enough to feed a bird. We were also charged £4 service charge which should be optional and I definitely would not have paid this. Won’t be revisiting.

Doorman are actually very nice. Staff are always lovely. Liz the boss is always wonderful. Terry is my guy; remembers a face and a drink. Wonderfully socially distanced. The pie is great. Just a really good pub.

No estoy seguro si se debe a Covid, pero no tuve una buena experiencia aquí. El servicio fue impactante: muy lento para tomar el pedido, traer comida, llevar platos y ni siquiera traer 2 de las bebidas, pero las agregó a la factura de todos modos. La comida era mediocre, con opciones sin gluten. Fish and chips particularmente malo. Casi no había nadie cenando (quizás otros también han tenido malas experiencias) por lo que el servicio realmente debería haber sido mejor. Personal amable.

Esta no es mi primera visita a este restaurante, pero lamentablemente la última. Cada vez que he estado allí para comer algunos de los platos están agotados a pesar de que es temprano en la noche. Well. Gastropub prices, and well cooked food, but not homemade. Then there's the attention to detail.We had reserved a table that unfortunately was wobbly but nice location, and had to order at the bar. I spied a wine that looked interesting, it had a tag for £24.50, but turned out to be £34, I was advised of this, the St Emilion wine was actually superb. Starter was a Tarte Tatin, outstanding, devilled whitebait good but a little limp and not very devilish. Main, Miso Aubergine very tasty, but needed peeling as the skin was leathery, chicken pie was cridp and hot but basically a pukka pie, roasted roots disappointed as onion with a bit of carrot. Where was the Parsnips etc? And the side of tenderstem broccoli was lacklustre. Dessert was nice, brownie with Hazelnut ice cream and the crumble was absent, so we chose the sticky toffee, nice but very generic and found in a local oneills. Toilets as pictured were not conducive to a pleasant experience, not checked and not updated. Overall could do better, and there are a plethora of restaurants in Wanstead to voice from we won't hurry to return. For the prices they charge you would expect table service NO. You have to go the bar to order your meal and drinks.Food was average. Whilst the young woman who brought our food to us was very friendly, it was the taking of the order which was a bit frosty, and as I said, maybe was just tired.Three of us had fish n chips, no peas or veg, and it was ok at best.
