Wandered over from Whittington and pleasantly surprised to stumble upon the crown. Fully refreshed with beer, and entertained in the shed by pool. Passed on the darts and table football until next time. Lovely nest of interconnecting rooms, will visit the man cave sometime soon. Fabulous outdoor area for all the family. Will recommend and revisit hopefully to sample the food too. Let's give it: FIVE STARS and a YEE-HAW ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐+🤠

A cracking boozer, lovely food, ran by proper people. Booked a private room on a Saturday afternoon for my birthday celebrations and they could not have been any more helpful. Lovely room with access to a large TV with sport channels and really well decorated. A bespoke buffet supplied on the day for a really reasonable price and the bar service is always spot on. Massive thanks to everyone at The Crown Inn @ Elford for making a good day, a really great day. Can't wait to pop back in with the wife and kids for a bite to eat.

We had tried to book some weeks ago, to be told "sorry we are fully booked" so to be ahead I booked a week in advance this time. Was it worth the wait, oh yes the guest ale was superb and the Sunday lunch.. Well outstanding. I had the white bait and the beef and my partner had the mushroom starter and pork loin, main, both the starters and mains were large portions and well presented. With the mains served on piping hot plates, waitered by a very polite and attentive member of staff. What stood out for us was the warm and friendly atmosphere, a cosy log fire and the jolly personality of the landlord, who, from the moment you meet him has a welcoming smile, a warm personality that lifts your mood. This is not going to be the last we visit The Crown. Thank you for a memorable Sunday lunch.

Worst ever BBQ I have ever been to at a pub. The sausages and rolls tasteless and the burgers so fatty that the bread became soggy to hold and eat. Music started at 4pm and finished at 6pm with no other music after that and still very busy, very poor. 20 mins to queue for drinks with one entrance to serve us. It was not a bbq cooking out doors it was in the pub kitchen! The pub is run down and would not eat there again.

As Andy (the barman) knew I had been shielding during the first Covid-19 lockdown, he kindly seated me and my mum in a corner room away from other customers in the pub. We ate tasty fish and chips cooked by the pub chef, with side bowls containing very generous portions of curry sauce and mushy peas. Andy went out of his way to source some mayonnaise that I requested, and in order to prevent us from feeling isolated in the pub, he regularly popped his head round the corner to check we were OK. Everything was clean and properly sanitised, the staff all wore masks, and the customers had to wear them too whenever they weren't sitting at their tables, plus there was a one way system in place. So, I felt very safe. An excellent meal in a truly delightful village pub, and no doubt I will return there soon, providing the Covid restrictions allow it.

This is my first review I have wrote and unfortunately it's a negative one. Me and my mother in law had a meal today and we had to wait over 1 hour I understand this is the eat out scheme but the food its self was diabolical I no my photos don't show a lot but our entire experience was appalling the only positive was the girl serving us ran around ragged and tried to keep a positive attitude. We had two mixed grills but could of been called dog food sorry to be blunt but I took the meat home for my dog. Its was all over cooked to the point it was rubber and the egg I've never seen such an atrocity I'd expect better in a road side cafe I will never return and only wish to share my review so people don't experience the same as we did.

I've passed the sign for the Crown so many times as I've driven the country route between Burton and Tamworth - and every time I've told myself I need to check this place out lol Well - I've finally done it one quiet Friday afternoon, I popped in to check it out as a potential eating place, and sampled the ale. Very impressed with the ale, he brews his own on site, a microbrewery!!! The ale was very tasty and moreish- I had to try again it was that nice lol 👍 what a cosy pub too, I checked the menu out, and was impressed with the overall layout and ambience of the place. My next visit is planned to sample the menu, and more of his lovely cask ale!!!

We have used the Crown on a few occasions and have always had a good meal. On our last visit we were left feeling very disappointed with both the service and the quality of the food. We ordered drinks at the bar which was fine and went to our table which was pleasant. We waited a while to order and ordered starters and mains. My first choice was sold out so I ordered the mushrooms instead. My friend was told his main meal was also sold out after 10 mins of waiting and chose an alternative. The starters were ok but were not to the usual standard. We had all had fish and chips for the main which is usually lovely and it arrived looking a bit anaemic. I ate mine as did our friends but my wife’s was really bad and she left almost the whole meal. Everyone’s meal was rubbish but hers was really under cooked. The service was really lacking with one waitress on and she wasn’t really bothered that the meal was left. We had puddings which again were ok but not to the usual high standards. My wife’s meal was removed from the bill on paying. I won’t be rushing back after this which is a shame as we try and go every couple of months.

The Crown is one of the best places to eat and drink in the area. It has had some ups and downs in years past, but Gary Jones the chef has now been cooking consistently good food for a year since his arrival. With his wife Olivia front of house the atmosphere is friendly. CAMRA recommends this pub at which Andy Wills oversees the bar. The Crown brews its own beers, Andy has become a skilled brewer as well as providing other interesting real ales.On Friday and Saturday evenings you will find an a la carte menu which changes weekly, it is well sourced and imaginative. Wednesdays pizza and pasta night and Thursdays more traditional pub food is served. Some bar food at lunchtime Fridays and Saturdays. Probably best to book, Sunday lunch is in our opinion excellent and extremely good value for money.

A fantastic 17th century pub. Fantastic food great atmosphere steeped in history. Wonderful villages make you very welcome. Nice bar and a games room. Car park and disabled access. This is what a pub should be. Sadly many today have the heart ripped out of them as they are turned into "modern gastro houses" With no character. The Crown thankfully still retains what is best about a village pub.

We called here on the off chance we could get Sunday lunch, although there were no tables available in the restaurant we were offered a table in the pub. Sunday lunch is £21 for 3 courses, or £15 for main course with sweet and starter at £3 each. The choice of starters were lovely, and very different to your normal starters. There was a good choice in the mains with a vegetarian option. We did have to wait a short while, but we didn't mind as that usually means the food is fresh rather than prepared and then microwaved. Good choice of beers available too. We didn't have a sweet as we were both full after our starter and main courses, but the sweets did sound lovely.

This place combines everything that you could want in a country pub. Excellent cooking. Great atmosphere. Charm. And cracking beers well kept and from a variety of breweries. The Burton Bridge ales were as bright as you could hope to see. Add to that a decent gin selection and cosy bar. The food is extremely well cooked and inventive. Malt shovel has now been serving food on a Sunday for a few weeks now and had heard good things about it as I live in the village. Daughter and partner came over on Sunday to give it a go. Good job I booked on the Wednesday before as fully booked when we went in. Was a lovely atmosphere with a birthday party taking place. We were seated at our table ordered drinks which were promptly bought to us. Guinness was superb. Looked at menu and 3 things on there . Beef ,Pork, and for the vegetarians Nut roast. Well we all had 1 of each so a great way ao judge all the food. I had the beef which was cooked to perfection for me being red in middle and oh so tender. Came with mash roasting cauliflower cheese and vegetables came in separate dishes and the cauliflower cheese was 1 of the best I have had . Lovely meal my daughter had the Nut roast . She isn't a vegetarian as she asked if they would put a pig in blanket on ther to which they obliged. Another excellent meal and I would certainly not hesitate in having a Nut roast. It was interesting to taste the difference in my roast potatoes and hers due to the different fat they were cooked in. And her partner had the Pork again which came with all the trimmings and crackling too. He commented how lovely that was too. Well we were not really hungry enough for a sweet but unfortunately 😕 there was Knickerbocker glory on the Menu 😛 so it had to be done and so glad we did. Was superb just reminded me of being a lad again being treated by my parents. Tinned fruit in Jelly and cream and icecream 🍦 made my day. All in all a lovely experience and will be eating there again. The night before Saturday wS there 1st night of serving food . Heard good reviews about that too so next meal probably on a Saturday evening.
