Had a great evening here for their first Oktoberfest, staff were amazing, the set up was fantastic, such a good atmosphere despite the torrential downpours, the beer flowed and the food was great, entertainment was so much fun, an amazing singer followed by a crazy Oompa band, such a good evening

When you pull up to a pub and there are people at the tables outside and cars in the car park that's always a good sign... We were so lucky to stop here! The lady behind the bar was so pleasant and welcoming The menu is just right for lunch! Real ale on tap too ... a rarity these days it seems!! We order a sandwich, it came with chips and salad. It was so good! It's so difficult to get value for money, good food and good beer...you can definitely get it here! Well done to this lovely little country feel pub to be authentic and traditional. Such a refreshing change! Will definitely return.

Wow ! This is THE perfect village pub, sitting in a small quintessentially English village, and buzzing with locals. The food was incredible. My lasagne was cooked with a unique twist of using chunks of slow cooked beef, which melted in the mouth. It was SO tasty - as were the chicken strips to start, which were positively zingy ! Meanwhile my husband declared his beef burger was the best he had ever tasted - which is certainly saying something! The service was absolutely lovely, and the atmosphere great fun with lots of locals mixing and mingling round the tables. The food arrived piping hot and in hearty portions, as well as being completely delicious. We will return in a heartbeat next time we are visiting the area ! Tip: book your table - it is only little inside !

We, three of us, stopped here at lunch time. The welcome from Rhiannon was delightful. We didnt think we were very hungry, so asked her if a small cheese platter would be possible. If you check the photo you will see what a wonderful platter it was, brought with such charm o our table. It was delicious. Cannot praise the warmth and ambience enough. I'm certain we will go again. Thank you to a delightful waitress and a super Chef.

I phoned to make a reservation and sadly, wanted a time that was outside of their food service hours. However, the gal on the phone was SO INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL!!! She thought about different options for me, even googled some on her phone! She even offered to have done something if they had a chef! I plan to make a special trip out to eat here, just because of this experience! Thank you for being so helpful - if your service in person is anything like the phone, I absolutely can’t wait.

We were staying in Weobley but "no room at the inn" there so we headed to The Crown, Dilwyn, which is nearby. SO GLAD we did. A warm welcome and excellent "pub food", which was surprisingly competent (for a pub...). We had a whitebait "starter", the size of which could easily have passed for a main course, and with very tasty, crisp, but not-greasy fish. Lovely. My ham and eggs main was colossal, again with very crisp chips with not a sign of grease. Good quality ham also. I could barely finish - no room for pud! "Tapas" on an adjacent table looked great also. Prices very reasonable. Definitely well above standard pub fare - I didn't detect a microwave anywhere! Will certainly visit again when next in the area.

As we were staying in Ludlow we thought we would have a little drive out to grab dinner in a local village pub somewhere. So, when stumbling across this place, we had no preconceptions or expectation. Although the pub itself is a little dated inside, the friendly management/ staff and the superb food really made it worth while. The chef here certainly knew their stuff as the food was gorgeous. My only critique, if it could be considered as such, would be that there was way too much food. I actually felt guilty leaving it on my plate as I didn't want them to think I didn't like it - it was purely because I was stuffed. If I was a local I would actually eat here every night if I could. Given that the pub quickly filled with locals, who all ordered food, then I can assume I am obviously not the only one who thinks this way. The cost was great too! Just to add though, I personally liked how families/ kids were welcomed and were able to socialise which created such a great atmosphere. I appreciate though, that this isn't to everyones taste so my advise would be... go elsewhere. Shame if you do though as this pub really is a hidden gem and I would love to go back again when in the area. I definitely recommend and it was the highlight of my staycation.

Two of us braved storm Eunice to make another visit to this friendly, warm and inviting pub for lunch, i ordered oyster mushroom and tomato gnocchi (pub is veggie friendly) whilst hubby had roast pork, to follow we had tiramasu and panacotta, we both thoroughly enjoyed all of our well presented tasty meals the cost of which was very resonable for the quality and effort put into providing such super meals. THANK YOU to all concerned. This visit restored our faith in pub food as recently we visited another similar establishment in a nearby village and had a totally different bad and cold experience.

Came here on recommendation of the owner of our B&B accommodation for an evening meal. The staff were all lovely, but the food was a big disappointment! Not sure if they had 'lost' their chef, but the food all seemed to be out of a packet. Very little imagination with presentation either. My wife risotto was really poor. This is a completely unreconstructed local, providing a focal point for the village. Bang opposite the village green and the bus stop. Plenty of room at the front to sit out and even more space to spread out in the large back garden. Just as pubs should be. Maria, her Italian partner who is an excellent chef and the staff are really welcoming. Great place to eat and always a good sign, chose from a limited number of dishes on the menu. Great home cooking. Try the authentic lasagne. But for true pub aficionados who want good beer, you are in for a real treat! Wye Valley ales at their best!Apart from being in need of an internal makeover (which will happen eventually I’m sure), the only disappointment is you can’t take dogs in. Stipulated by the parish I believe But I guess you can’t have it all. Excellent pub and impressive that the village have managed to save it. The fact they did tells you a lot about the village.

En route to another b/white village, we just turned off the road to have a quick look and were delighted with the village, the green and THE PUB. We hadn't meant to have lunch out but saw the menu, had a lovely day...why not? Both our chosen meals were delicious; I had perfectly cooked spaghetti (not always easy, actually) with sausage meatballs and crispy bacon and a good side salad. HE had a large wedge of broccoli/ cheese flan, with chips and salad again. Cider for him, red wine for me and a super hour consuming whilst looking across the green, checking out the houses and gardens etc. At a future date but soon, we will return on purpose and try the desserts.

A pub where locals go to drink, yet serving really good food. I came here to meet my friend and have supper. We both had lasagne, chips and salad; I wasn’t going to have the chips, because I’m cutting calories, but so glad I did, as they were gorgeous; french fries with skin on, crispy and really tasty; none of that cardboard taste you get with standard pub chips. The lasagna tasted good too and a bit of effort had been made to make the salad more interesting. We shared an Eton mess cheesecake, which was more like a mousse, but again no complaints with the quality. All in all worth a visit and definitely eat here. Apparently this pub is on the ‘black and white trail’ which my friend pointed out and I know nothing about, but there is a row of pretty houses outside.

Between us we had the homemade soup (curried cauliflower), mozzarella sticks & whitebait to start. Followed by homemade lasagne and a beef roast dinner. The Crown also had veggie gnocci on the menu but I didn't see a veggie roast option. So if you're a veggie it could be worth ringing in advance to see what they could do. The deserts available sounded wonderful but we were all too full to even consider sharing a pudding.Recommended.

Bar staff very welcoming and friendly. Ordered salmon fish cakes and were incredibly pleased at the quality of the meal. The fishcakes were crispy on the outside and wonderfully fluffy on the inside. Served with home made tartare sauce, chips, A lovely salad with a delicious dressing and garden peas that tasted of nectar. I don't know who the chef in this pub is but he/she is superb. Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣

As we entered the lovely lady came to us with menus. Food was brought to us on hot plates and presented very nicely. We all enjoyed what we had. Thankyou will return.
