Charming inn in very pretty village. Lovely menu which was well priced. Service was excellent despite the inn being host to a local wake. So glad we chose this pub for our last meal at the end of a lovely week in this beautiful place.

We had an amazing Sunday lunch with friends. Biggest Yorkshire pudding I’ve seen. We had the pork and the beef between us and it was all delicious. The pork was beautifully slow roasted and the fat perfectly rendered. Generous quantity of vegetables and all the sauces you could need. Washed down with a very decent red wine. Wish we had room for dessert as they also looked fab. Thank you for a great experience .

We went to The Crown twice while we were on holiday. If you’re after well cooked, tasty pub food, you can’t go wrong. The Crown on a Saturday night is busy, but the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed. Service was very good and the staff were really friendly. As I said the food was delicious and the portions are generous. We would definitely return when in the area.

As someone who usually spends their Sundays cooking roast dinners in my own pub, I haven’t sat down to enjoy a roast for a long time (as when you have been cooking them all day, it’s the last thing you want to eat!) so whilst we were on holiday, a Sunday roast was high on the priority list! We visited several pubs around the area during the week and a number of locals recommended The Crown so we booked a table here. We certainly weren’t disappointed - the beef was perfectly cooked, a nice big Yorkshire, plenty of vegetables and all the other trimmings. The desserts were fantastic too - the banoffee waffle was particularly good! Highly recommend going here for a roast, but make sure you book in advance as it’s pretty small.

Lovely pub, and could not do enough to help (my husband is disabled and they even moved a car so that he did not have so far to walk.) Food was excellent. The best vegetarian curry I have ever had, I think. HIghly recommended. Attempting to make a another reservation today, in fact, as we live some way away and only visit the area now and then.

We were recommended to visit The Crown Inn for lunch and we were not disappointed. A very welcoming dog friendly pub (with doggie treats on the bar), the service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had the cheeseburger with blue cheese with added bacon and onion rings whilst my wife had the Korev Battered Fish and Chips. The portions were plentiful so although the desserts looked tasty we couldn’t squeeze one in. Would definitely recommend this charming 16th century pub.

Wow. It’s hard to think of all the superlatives. We had Sunday lunch and it was a feast to die for. We had the beef, pork and chicken, which comes in 2 sizes. My wife had a small chicken and regretted it, saying she wished she had gone for the larger plate because it was so good. I had the pork which was excellent, my son the beef which was similarly so - both opting for the larger size fortunately! It came with assorted vegetables plus a wicked cauliflower cheese which was really good. The cheesecake was superb and my son who only ever has sticky toffee pudding, said it was the best he had ever had. The bar staff were first class, very attentive and capped off a brilliant Sunday lunch. We are so glad we found The Crown on day two of our holiday because we will be back often!

Delightful Sunday lunch in traditional village pub. On booking, I was impressed to be asked if bringing a dog. No, so on arrival sat away from those with dogs. For us a thoughtful gesture as not everyone wants dogs around when eating. Service was polite and as attentive as they could be as it was evidently busy. Roasts ordered were plentiful and well presented. Meat cooked well. Only let down were the potatoes, which were somewhat dried out. But I still recommend this lovely pub

We recently stayed in this village and visited the village pub several times. It serves lovely local ales and a very nice range of wines. The food is fabulous and, sensibly in my opinion, it guards against food waste by offering two portion sizes on main courses. The interior is full of interesting heritage items to look at and the rear garden has beautiful views over the Cornish countryside. The four of us visited this pub for a meal on the first sunday evening of our holiday in late July as we had been here several years before and liked the old pub. We believe it has changed hands since we were last here nine years ago but if anything it is even nicer now. We booked in advance as we wanted to request a table in a quieter part of the pub but also popped in to look at the menu the day before our meal as we happened to be passing. The manager and staff could not have been more helpful. When we arrived on the day of our booking we were shown to our (quietly situated) table very quickly and asked straight away if we wanted to order drinks. In fact the staff were very accommodating right throughout our visit. They helped us in trying to find something on the menu that our daughter (a picky eater) would eat. They brought everything we requested to go with our meals very quickly whenever we asked for something. The service was great ( and I am very hot on good customer service). It was very busy but we didn't have to wait very long for the meals to arrive. Everything was presented very nicely and more importantly the food was hot. The portion sizes were excellent and everything was really tasty. I had the gammon steak which was huge and the juiciest I have tasted in a very long while. The meat in the Steak and Ale pie was very succulent and tender. The burger was nicely presented and very tasty too. In fact it was a very successful meal out for all four of us al round. We would have liked o try one of the tasty looking desserts on offer too but we were just too full from the main course. Well done The Crown. We eat out quite a lot these days and it's rare to find a good dining experience where the meal AND the customer service can be commended. You got it just right! Thank you.

Start with the good, the beer is kept well. The food is a different matter. The beef pie turned up and my brother asked if it was a joke, given the small square of pastry balanced on his plate. When my daughter's half option turned up (at £6+ when his normal portion was£12+) he was even more disgruntled. As you can see by the photo, they are the same size meals on different sized plates. If you enjoyed the heady days of the 90's when broccoli was served raw you will be more than satisfied. The roast had bullet style potatoes (unsure of the era they were popular) and burnt Yorkshire's.Fed back to the waitress that all was not well, any plate that goes back to the kitchen with roast potatoes left on the plate should trigger alarm bells....A different waitress came and told my mum we should have said something - we just did. No reparation on the bill, no apology from the kitchen.Very disappointed and we will not be back.

Sorry not particularly thrilled. Also long wait. As previous very generous starters, maybe a bit too much sauce on the prawn cocktails. Roast arrived, good size but what a shame only just warm, potatoes and Yorkshire puddings overcooked. We asked for small fish and chips for 4 year old grandson, actually a bit too much and fish batter overcooked which made fish dry, would have been better if fish goujons offered instead. Not been here for several years, probably won't go back!!!

Like a previous reviewer we booked a table for 1.30 pm, forgetting it was Fathers' Day.At the bar we were told it would be a long wait and also about free dessert for dads. As we are on holiday and it was miserable weather this did not concern us.We opted for starters. Creamy garlic mushrooms on ciabatta for my husband and prawn cocktail for me. Both were generous portions and possibly the highlight of our meal. Then we waited, waited and waited for our roasts. It was over an hour from when we arrived until our mains arrived. Very generous portions, a good selection of vegetables and lovely fresh roast potatoes. Some of out beef was a bit tough, but not bad enough to make a complaint. During our wait we were given apologies from waiting staff. They were incredibly busy and serving a wide selection on each course. In view of this the staff were doing well. Our desserts arrived almost the moment we finished our mains. A good sticky toffee pudding and a huge, delicious Eton mess. With two drinks our bill was approximately £44, which we thought was good for what we had. As we settled our bill we received another apology about the long wait. Would certainly return, but possibly at a quieter time!

We waited an hour and fifteen minutes before I was able to ask someone if we were going to get any food..the waitresses ignored us after taking our order and it was the bar lady I was able to nab. The food was out in another ten minutes. Two beef and one pork ordered for the roasts, three beef delivered. This was rectified how ever. The beef was quite tough although there was plenty of it. The potatoes and vegetables were tasty, packet gravy though. Unfortunately the meal wasn't very hot. The curry was watery and tasteless. No one came back to ask if our meals were OK until we had finished . Drinks quite expensive. The bill was £72. We hadn't booked so took pot luck and travelled here from The Sheaf at gorran haven as they were fullWelcomed in here with open arms and was served a scrumptious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and a nut roast. Our poodle was made welcome so he laid by the fire as we ate. Superb meal we couldn't fault it. Would certainly return when we come on another holiday

We happened upon this eating establishment after visiting St. Ewe's Church, the home of some Trewolla ancestors, across the street. We ate outside in its back yardSpectacular views everywhere. It's hard to believe one line of my ancestors left Cornwall to come to America/Virginia, though Virginia is spectacular, too.4 years ago

Over the boarder to Cornwall and a lovely Sunday scenic drive with 50 classic car owners on a charity fundraising event. Our lunch stop at The Crown Inn, St Ewe, was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they coped brilliantly with our group. Lunch was excellent, I had the fish and chips (the best I've had in the long time). Thank you for a warm welcome and a great lunch.

We came in on the last saturday of the year, it was lucky we came in at 7pm as they were very nearly full by the looks of things, but we still received a warm welcome. This is such a traditional pub, with a gorgeous couple of log fires (big attractions), we were fortunate enough to sit beside one and the waitress kindly put another log on. The food came fairly quickly, it was delicious and homemade - go for the lasagne! Lovely atmosphere in this pub and good service, I can't wait to come back when I am down again in February. Oh, and this is a dog friendly pub which gets my vote :-)

Have been visiting The Crown over recent years whilst on holiday in Cornwall and it has kept true to a British pub. Log fires, background music only, friendly staff, friendly locals and great food and beer. We ate here last night again and the food was as good as ever.

During our stay in the area we visited the crown inn twice for dinner. The pub was very cosy and the staff welcoming. There was a great choice of food including several specials. I loved the fact that several of the meals had smaller potions available for a lower price.

Very Good Sunday Lunch, Plenty of Meat & Veg. Very good service that is both quick and friendly. Nice to see a pub that has many familiar faces year in year out

Whilst on holiday in St Agnes we stumbled upon this pub on our way back from a morning out. It was lunchtime and we were hungry so decided to go in. We were greeted very warmly from the lady behind the bar, she kindly explained where the menus were, pointed out the specials board and invited us to choose our seating. Our order was swiftly taken, we ordered the homemade lasagne, chips & peas and Ham,double egg, chips and peas. We both received generous portions and we both very much enjoyed the food. The server was friendly and came over twice to check everything was ok. So glad we took a wrong turn and found this place. Would definitely visit again if we’re ever this way again.

Visited this pub after reading all the positive reviews from others that have been posted and was so disappointed - it felt like we were in a totally different place. Staff rude and unfriendly and like others who have posted, food took well over an hour and half to come out with no explanation from anyone as to why. Definitely won't be returning and can't recommend this at all to others.

My husband and I have visited the Crown Inn on very many occasions during yearly holidays in the St Ewe area. We have enjoyed both the food and friendly service. This evening we invited family and friends for a meal. During the course of waiting for an hour and a quarter we asked politely on three occasions when our food would be ready. To our utter embarrassment we were accused loudly by a member of staff that we had been rude to and upset a young waitress. This was totally untrue. A local customer at the bar then felt it necessary to interfere and inform us there was only one chef!! At no time did the manager (or Landlord?) seem to feel it was necessary to speak to customers or explain why we were waiting so long. What a shame that extremely stressed staff resort to taking out their frustration and anger on customers (whose business they depend on). We may only be 'holiday trade' but treatment like our group experienced this evening is not the way to run a business. Obviously we will not be visiting again.

Have been here many times before on holiday and always enjoyed lovely food and great vege choice. Tonight was appalling, an hour and a half before our food came, we asked politely three times and was told it was busy. My father had taken us for a lovely family meal with friends and I actually felt uncomfortable, a member of staff came out from the kitchen and told us loudly not to be rude to the waiting staff as she 'was only young'. We were never rude to any member of staff (one member of waiting staff was particularly miserable and rude) and I was appalled to have been made to feel as if we had done something wrong in front of the entire pub, this was followed up by comments from someone drinking at the bar telling us 'they were doing the best they could and only had one chef on so give them a break'If at any point a member of staff had explained this or if the landlord had bothered to come round and speak to his customers (there were many complaints) it would have been a far better evening. I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable as a customer and sadly after so many great visits to this establishment we will not be returning and I can not recommend this pub to anyone.

We turned up to this local pub and it appears there is a very small wait as the food it cooked fresh, no problems with that but an hour for a meal that was simply poor, had cod and chips ,the cod was dripping in fat, I pressed my fork on top and oil came oozing out, likewise the onion rings were dripping, I had to use the serviette to dab them, glad this isn't my local what a waste of £44

Popped in here for a cream tea, deliciously warm scones with jam and clotted cream, a real treat. Very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely, very friendly, would definitely recommend.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
