The Crown Inn in South Somerset

Feeling spoilt during our extended stay in this area pre house move - this is an absolute gem of a place. The staff are warm and welcoming and genuine - all with eruditely honed hospitality skills and an all important sense of humour. One even helped us with the Samsung pay! The food is superb and the menu extensive. The whole experience gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling that makes you yearn to return.

Excellent Sunday lunch at a friendly local pub. Great choice of roasts including veg option. Beef and lamb were both yummy! Lots of trimmings and vegetables served, with top up on request. Gravy was superbly tasty! We brought our dog along too, and staff were happy to accommodate. Reasonable prices. Bright and warm inside space as well as outdoor seating. Well done thanks.

The Crown inn is under new ownership and now is the place to go if you want a warm friendly welcome, lovely staff, lovely atmosphere and friendly locals. They serve absolutely amazing food and cocktails Harry and Ellie are absolutely nailing it and are definitely think outside the box to make the Crown inn the best pub around. The service is fantastic the staff really go out there way to make every visit amazing they work so hard. We have visited on a number of occasions now the evening meals and the Sunday roast are quite frankly the best I have ever had. And the cocktails are well worth checking out they are amazing. It's the little extras I love so we had a dry ice table display on valentines and the rose my wife received on arrival was so thoughtful and we enjoyed the tasteful live music it just keeps getting better and better. We have been in the Crown several times now for lunch and it has been excellent. One was for a mid week lunch and the food was freshly cooked and well presented on nice hot plates. We have since been in for an impromptu Sunday lunch. The place was very busy but the atmosphere was good and the Sunday roast was excellent. Plenty of it, well presented and hot. The staff were very attentive and have definitely improved from our very first visit for one of the seafood and steak nights, it was so busy! We are going back this weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Having not arranged anything for Mothers Day and my wife deciding not to cook I rang the Crown during the morning of Sunday 30th March. The Crown was very helpful and managed to fit us in at 3.30pm for our family of four and 2-year old twins. Timing was great enabling us to get organised. The Crown was busy and we managed to find parking on the road outside (the car park is not huge). Lots of people sitting and drinking in the garden outside enjoying the sunshine and a good atmosphere. We were immediately made very welcome once inside and shown to our table. The staff were attentive and quickly brought menu’s and took our drinks order which arrived quickly. We asked for a jug of water and that to arrived quickly at which point we placed our orders. Everyone ordered the Sunday roast but there were other options including vegetarian. Parents can also choose from a children’s menu such as sausage and chips although for ours we ordered a single roast lunch which the staff were happy to split and bring on two separate plates. That was really helpful as they are not big eaters. The food arrived quickly afterwards and was absolutely delicious, really tasty and nicely proportioned - my wife said it was the best Sunday lunch she had had in ages. All the vegetables were not over cooked (separate dishes) and there were two additional pots of gravey. Overall very good experience and we will use the Crown again which deserves to succeed. Fully recommended.

Came down for Sunday lunch yesterday. It was fully booked with some large parties. It was explained to us on sitting down with an apology that they were short staffed, fair enough if they tell you. Yes service was slow but you could see the staff were doing their best, and with a smile. When we got our dinner it was so worth the wait, delicious!! Food was beautifully cooked and fresh. Maybe a few more staff would be an idea but if staff ring in sick there's nothing you can do. Will certainly be back soon.

Amazing pub lovely staff friendly customers we were really made to feel so welcome for my wife's 40th birthday. The staff and owners are so lovely and surprised my wife with a birthday treat and a rendition of happy birthday which really meant a lot to us. I highly recommend a visit to the Crown inn in Fivehead and we will be returning now we are new locals to the village. So I downloaded the app from the play store and it is well worth it. We had the steak night deal 2 x steaks cooked to perfection and the chips etc were yummy and a bottle of wine a fantastic deal. Not really an ideal Sunday lunch. Our table wasn't ready on arrival. Not enough staff. 2 people to serve drinks, run food take orders etc for the whole pub. When the food came we had small portions served instead of normal. Not all the items stated were served initially. More roast meat came and the crakling we should have had. We didn't get anymore potatoes so only had 2 each. Roast veg, potatoes, homemade Yorkies were all excellent. The broccoli and red cabbage needed more love. You win some, you lose some I guess. They did amend our bill accordingly so we left feeling ok just a bit disappointed.

First time here but won't be our last. The food was excellent with huge portions. The Caulifloer cheese was really tasty and the roast potatoes were lovely and crispy. Good selection of drinks and desserts looked lovely, it was a shame we were too full!. It seems very popular so we were glad our friends booked, the staff were working really hard but were still friendly and attentive

What a fantastic Sunday Lunch! The best cauliflower cheese in the area by far. They have a beautiful new function room that's been redecorated and refurbished, as well as a new selection of great spirits and ales! Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch on 11th of Feb at this super village pub. Really friendly welcome and service from the bar staff plus the chef who popped out from time to time from the kitchen to check in on the dinners. I had the nut roast (which was delicious!) and on the table we also had the roast pork and roast chicken - all cooked to perfection. Nice selection of deserts (sticky toffee pudding !!!) and plenty of happy clientele made for a perfect Sunday afternoon! Will visit again soon. A great selection of beers and wine's and great to see the support given to local cider producers and breweries alongside the more traditional pub names.

Friendly welcome and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Superb Sunday lunch - generous portions and nice that the choice of meats varies too! Would highly recommend.

We took our niece, from Spain to the Crown to show her a traditional Country Pub. We were not disappointed. The steak was bang on and cooked to perfection and the fish and chips were to die for. A well recommended pub to visit for food and drink.

We came down last night for the New years eve party. It was great! Atmosphere was lovely. We're new to the village and have been welcomed so warmly by not only the landlords but the whole community. The buffet was delicious and thanks for taking the time to point out the vegan options. Unfortunately we had to leave before midnight but we wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year to all at the Crown.

Went for Sunday lunch last week, absolutely amazing food and also service from the bar staff was amazing, especially I think his name was Adam who brought our drinks to the table every time. Will definitely be booking again soon. Thank you Crown Inn

Nine of us went to The Crown at Fivehead yesterday for Christmas lunch, it was delicious! I and my partner had the prawn starter, roast beef and Christmas pudding, some others had pate, turkey and lemon parfit, and two had the sea bass. They all said how wonderful it all was and how well we were looked after. We had a great afternoon together, thank you Del and Ant!

Absolutely amazing food and service. Never tasted such amazing delicious food and even had our drinks brought to us by the Barmen who has the most amazing blue eyes. Will definitely be back for more food.

Very atmospheric village pub with beautiful fireplaces tucked down a little lane. Staff are super friendly and the place has a great vibe. A lovely little place to visit for a cosy evening.

Popped into the crown for a roast and yet again wasn't disappointed. I'm excited to hear shaun was back in the kitchen, and his food did not disappoint. Generous portions and wonderful staff and atmosphere. Will definitely be returning soon.
