We just stayed for 3 nights at the Crown Inn. What a lovely find. Lovely location 10/10 for the perfect base to visit Kent. Rooms clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. Emma and her family and her staff work so hard to make you welcome nothing is too much trouble. Emma also made our dog ( Woody ) very welcome. The food is wonderful we opted for B&B. The breakfast was lovely. A huge shout out to the chef. Her food is lovely all freshly made. I’d like to highly recommend the meat pie. 10/10 for friendliness, a welcoming experience and for the lovely pub with so much history. Very highly recommended we will be back. Rob, Michelle and little Woody x

I stayed with The Crown Inn in Sarre following a cancellation from another provider which left me and my older relatives with no where to stay. I was extremely upset upon arrival and the management (Emma) was so welcoming and sorted us rooms to stay even with a little dog. The Rooms are of a good standard with everything that you need for an overnight stay, The inn is a traditional attractively old-fashioned, with a great selection of drinks, including non alcoholic. The food was excellent and All the staff were very efficient and nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast in the morning was excellent and such a great choice - Thank you for your hospitality and we will be back when we are in the area next.

Spent one night at this lovely pub. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, they really made us feel welcome. We had a delicious dinner my husband had lasagne and I dived into a scrumptious steak and stout pudding with the lightest suet crust ever. The room was comfortable and well presented. The evening we stayed they had drag bingo in the bar we could hear it during dinner and it was hilarious. Everyone seemed to be having a brilliant time. Breakfast was full English and very tasty and plenty of it. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to everyone.

We stayed for the first time here for one night only. The pub itself is fantastic, the ambience, the food, the staff were top rate all the way. We wish this was local to us, as a pub, because it is a great place to go. The owners are new to this pub, and have lots of plans to draw people in with great offers. I had a really good steak for dinner, and my partner had a pizza which was extremely good. Drink prices are also very reasonable. Breakfast was a full English with all the works. Unfortunately the downside for us was the accommodation we had. When we booked, we asked for the twin room downstairs that had the walk in shower and were told that it was available for our nights stay, so all booked we thought. We got there to find that the room had gone and so had the one next door. So we ended up in the disabled twin room, which was badly arranged and the shower was over the bath on the right and a power shower set up for a disabled person on the left on the bathroom. This was set at a height for a disabled person to sit on the chair situated there. We found that the single duvets on the twin beds kept falling off at night for both of us (perfect for children not adults), and were disappointed that there were no black outs at the window at all. We had broad daylight at 04:30 coming in. Such a shame, because the pub was great but our accommodation set up was far from it as neither of us slept well at all. So 100% for the pub side, but not so for the room set up. That's why its an average rating average for us. I'm sure though that once the owners are up and running and settled, changes will be made to bring this side up. There is so much enthusiasm there. We cannot speak for the other rooms.

Having been turned away from the Grove Ferry Inn as we had no booking when we were told no booking was needed we puzzled about where we could go between Grove Ferry and Acol. We suddenly came up with The Crown Inn at Sartre and headed there. On entering the bar signs announce “No standing at the bar” we asked if we could order food and were invited to sit down. We asked if we could eat outside and we encouraged to sit down outside but take a menu and check the specials board on the way out. …. and so it went on …. mine host is eccentric but great as is the food. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a decent meal in a traditional pub! But don’t forget …. Sit down !

None of the GPG pubs tickled our fancy en route to Ramsgate. I'd seen from OS maps (then checked out online) pubs off the main drag for potential walks from Ramsgate... and so we headed towards Sarre. The pic of the Crown of its road frontage gives a totally different idea of what the interior is like. From the car park to the rear, it's a typical (perhaps 1930s/50s) collection of good-looking brick buildings, has a pleasant grassy area with several tables beside green fields hedged with attractive shrubs (two mature Garria elliptica were in full bloom - delicate grey tassels wafting in the wind - this was a Monday after Storm Ciara and before Storm Dennis...)There is a restaurant and other bars. We got a warm welcome from the patient, friendly Landlord and swift service with our drinks, while we scoped out a comprehensive menu.I had a too-BIG ham sandwich/meal (simply excellent) while The Boss raved about the Steak pie. "Definitely home cooked, WONDERFUL gravy..., that pastry and marvellous filling, REAL fresh veg!".And I can vouch for her Chips - pretty perfect. Tasty and perfectly cooked.Aye.. we really LIKED this place.

Had Sunday lunch here today. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. All said hello as they passed. Had lovely garlic mushrooms to start. I had a small roast beef dinner which was lovely and rather large for only £6:95! My partner had lamb shank as a roast in a beautiful red wine gravy. It was large again and so tender.and only around £11 . 2 glasses of red wine, 2 pints of strong bow and a sparkling water also, all amounting to £42. Great value and a really cosy atmosphere. We even did our own pub quiz using one of the many games they have there. A great cosy homely pub serving wonderful food at a great price. Highly recommended

The Crown Inn is a fine looking Grade I listed 15th century building which houses an Inn and attached B&B accommodation situated on the main crossroads in Sarre. Internally it has a certain old world charm being a collection of different rooms dotted about the central bar serving area. This is a Shepherd Neame house and three Shep beers on in the shape of Bishops Finger, Masterbrew and Whitstable Bay. My pint of Masterbrew was a bit tired and the barrel was probably past its best , but this was a lunch stop for us and it was more than made up by the excellent prawn and club sandwiches and hospitable service levels from the pub landlord.Like the pub itself the food menu is old school traditional home cooked pub fare made with fresh ingredients and there were quite a few in on this Monday lunchtime with the home made puddings being quite a draw. We tried the Apple and Toffee tart with custard which was very good, but most other diners were going for Clive the Landlord’s Spotted Dick which apparently is legendary in these parts.

On a wet and windy winter's evenning, my son phoned me to say he got on the wrong bus. Landlord was very re-assuring and even had his grand-daughter look after my son. He was offered a snack and a drink (non alcoholic I guess..... :-) ) but was content with just the wifi code! Waiter then informed us that mains would be served as quickly as possible and all done within 5-10 minutes, great when you consider the numbers involved. Plates and food hot and enjoyed by all, I am told the ' lamb shank was beautiful' , 'my chicken, leek and bacon pie was great' and I know my beef and stilton pie was super. Chips were crispy and too delicious, diets on the resolutions list - no complaints from any one of us! There were not many takers for the pudding only possibly from those who did not have a starter, I am told they were lovely. Had an hour to spare before a business meeting so having missed breakfast I thought I would take a chance on somewhere I hadn't been before for a quick lunch. And I am really glad I chose this place. A welcoming landlord and a welcoming open fire was a good start and an interesting range on the menu. I was bone cold so chose the soup a tasty lentil dish with a nice warm roll. Followed by one of the day's specials steak and onion pie with vegetables and mash. Accompanying this was a big generous gravy boat full of loveliness. And whilst the pie and the mash and the gravy were fabulous the stars of the show were the beautifully cooked cluster of winter veg.

Staff were most efficient, friendly and courteous. Our meals were tasty and satisfying (cooked to order - not microwaved!). I partook of a delicious beef lasagne with colourful salad and crispy golden chips, whilst my husband chose the dressed crab salad which was also a "hit". What a pity there was no time for dessert as we had to complete another 5 miles' walking and had a train to catch back to various parts of London. The publican is very welcoming and the specials board offered a good choice. The Steak and Stilton pie was really tasty and the Lamb Shank excellent. The vegetables were well cooked and plentiful. 2 special meals one glass of wine and 1 pint of local ale for under £30. You cannot get better than that. The presence of local people dining is always a good sign. You will not be disappointed.

Considering its location in a tiny village miles from anywhere, the Crown Inn's lunchtime menu is very comprehensive indeed. Our party of seven was well looked after, with attentive friendly service and great food - and all at a most agreable price! Will definitely visit again.

A very nice friendly inn, the room was very clean and comfortable, the décor was very good. I would have liked a thermostatically controlled shower, and the wi fi was not available in Room 2.I ate in the bar and it was a very good meal at a reasonable price, breakfast was good. All the staff I met were very friendly. Plenty of parking is available.

Have visited on and off since the 1960's but not for some years now.A much more friendly pub than at one time. Two of us visited on a warm, sunny, quiet day in September. Two excellent, well kept, draught bitters were enjoyed with the meal. The service was good, the food was piping hot and well-prepared. The menu is quite extensive. Our whitebait starters included some salad and were fine. Main course was lamb shank, peas, mash and gravy. Quality was very good...but..... here comes the 'but'. What could have been an exceptional meal became no more than 'quite good' because we both felt there was something missing: a portion of, say, carrots and 2 or 3 mushrooms would have transformed the experience whilst only adding negligibly to the cost. I had fresh strawberries to finish. The quantity was good and the flavour was to die for. Not everyone would like the aerosol cream, although I don't particularly mind. I'll certainly return - sometime - but 'The Cherry Brandy House' as it has always been known as in generations of our family, will have to wait awhile. There are other places I'll be trying first as I continue to search for that elusive perfect pub meal. Four stars seems a bit over the top; three would be too low.

Great old pub which does a very reasonable B&B. stayed in one of the rooms at the back in the newer part. Nice room with en suite bathroom. Spotlessly clean room with tea, coffee, kettle and tv. Lovely towels and good hot shower. Ate in the restaurant, which has a good selection. Food very very good. Nice place with friendly staff. True there is no phone signal but that be a bonus, but if you walk out to the front you get a signal there. Great place for visiting margate, Manston, broadstairs or going to France .Great British Breakfast too.

This establishment is a real find. A couple of years ago, I stayed here for a few nights, in between moving houses, and I regularly go back there for a drink in the bar, or a meal. Penny, the landlady, is an excellent chef, and can make a simple meal like ham, egg and chips seem like a real feast. I would recommend absolutely anything on the menu. The bedrooms are clean, cosy and extremely comfortable, and, for what you get, reasonably priced. There is not a lot of room in the en-suites, however. The only real complaint, and it is hardly their fault, is that there is very poor mobile phone reception. To conclude, an absolutely wonderful inn, ideal for a romantic weekend away. Book well in advance, though, as it does get busy at certain times.

I'm a local and this should be my pub but every time I've visited the service is non exsistent. The pub was almost empty but I got no welcome. The girl at the bar ignored me. I sat for for a few minutes but was offered no menu and no drink.......I left. I proceeded to my favourite pub at St Nicholas - the Bell.

The Crown Inn is a delightful 15th Century coaching Inn in the hamlet of Sarre between Canterbury & Thanet. Outside is a garden with a few tables and a large parking area, although the garden is somewhat compromised by being next to a pretty busy road. It has a number of bars and a restaurant dining room and offers pretty standard 'pub grub'.Maggie had 'chicken melt' and I had a salmon fillet both came with a choice of veg and potatoes or salad and fries and we went for the latter combo. It was a very quiet Thursday lunchtime with us the only diners so our meal was quick to arrive and the landlord and staff seemed very affable. One could certainly not complain of them stinting as the food portions were very generous. The food was nothing to write home about, but nothing to com pain about either. The fish was cooked how I like it, still moist but not raw in the middle as seems the fashion these days. Maggie's chicken and bacon were also well cooked and the salad was crisp and the chips a tad blond but perfectly fine. Washed down with a pint of shandy left no room for dessert. In short it's not a pub I would seek out, but neither was it one I would hurry by if hungry. It was good value and acceptable fare in a nice looking pub so no complaints!
