Greeted by a very friendly and helpful bar maid. The pub has several hand pumps, but the selection was a little samey. It would be nice if there were more styles of ale were offered. I would definitely revisit and if the selection of ales was more diverse this place would be a 5 star boozer.

A good range of cask and keg beers all shown on a large screen. Plenty of outdoor seating to the front and side of the pub, sun all day when it's out. Dog's allowed. Can sometimes take a little longer that would like to get served but that's only because it can get very busy. Well worth a visit.

An excellent, well-restored pub in a great location. The beer options are vast and range from local breweries, offering sours, IPAs, and other craft ales, to Internationally-recognised staples. The service is quick and many of the staff are knowledgeable, which is always a bonus when you are looking to sample something new, and if you manage to visit on a sunny day, the outside seating is a great place to watch the world go by. If you are looking for a great place for a pint in the heart of the Ancoats/NQ areas of Manchester, you can't go far wrong with this place. Highly recommended.

I went here for an American 4th of July bash. No regrets. While the American ale I purchased was expensive because it was imported, I appreciated that the employees let me know the price beforehand. I gladly spent the money and also ordered a hot dog for my husband and I. Which were delicious. The building is gorgeous and it was highly festive and will say, the event helped ease my home sickness a bit. My British husband also enjoyed the event and festivities and in general we both loved the festivities. I look forward to more events and hope there's another 4th of July bash next year as well. Thank you crown and kettle for the amazing time and the amazing service. Your employees are lovely and appreciated how kind and lovely they all were!

The Crown and Kettle, situated in Manchester's Ancoats neighborhood near the city center, occupies a stunning Victorian building along Great Ancoats Street. It's an ideal spot for socializing with friends, boasting a diverse selection of beers that has garnered them a reputation. This pub has been boarded up for decades and I always remember it as a kid with the red boards on the window and the old radio store to the left . This was when Ancoats wasn’t in the city centre and no one lived there ! I always wondered about the history of it and what this incredible building looked like inside ! Now I’ve been in and seen it and it’s fabulous . I’d love the owners to compile information about its history and who has lived there over the ages since 1800 . I’m unsure whether the interior should be restored or just left ? Should your cats tales clocks be waggling ? 🤔 Great range of ales and a nice relaxed atmosphere mid week :)

Probably the best pub in the city centre. Lovely selection of craft and real ales from independent breweries in a beautifully restored historic pub with a little back room with a real log fire. Usually playing quality 2000s indie bangers but at a volume where you can actually hold a conversation with your mates. Friendly staff too. I was frequenting a wedding in Canna Galilee, where a traveling philosopher with a mighty beard transformed 120 gallons of water into wine. Even though there were plenty of guests they couldn't finish it all. I suggested they take it to Manchester, probably somewhere in the northern quarter, where it could be enjoyed by many. We boarded the ship where the philosopher had one more little prank up his sleeve, he turned the wine into beer. This place known as the crown and kettle was the first in all of Manchester to sell it. Well worth checking out. If you ask nicely they will show you the cellar where the philosopher stumbled down the stairs and bumped his head. Also as another interesting piece of historical significance, the toilet that Pontius Pilot sat in after the curry mile is still there to this day.

The service & staff were pleasant. The food was little better than mediocre. The most outstanding aspect of this experience of eating at Greggs, Cherry St Birmigham was the filthy condition. There were straws on the seats. Servietes on the floor and ripped up sugar containers, all littering the floor. The place wasn't that big and would only have taken 3 or 4 minuets to clean. I asked how they can serve people food in such a dirty environment. I was told they were too busy to clean. I said what about the 2 people in the back, that I could clearly see. She siad do you want to go and ask them? I declined. They have got their priorities wrong. Clean first, serve food second, but then I suppose it's all about making money. I certainly won't go back, and nor will I go to another Greggs.
