This is located on the 4th floor of HoF. There are clearly not enough staff and the ones there are running around like headless chickens. Dirty tables piling up because of a lack of staff. I was told on ordering that there was a 20 minute wait for food. Unfortunately this ended up being 26 minutes . Was it worth it? Fortunately it was. Very tasty, got and fresh. A noisy environment, with not enough seating for how busy it gets. Most people weren't prepared to share tables even if they weren't fully occupied. Hardly a pleasant atmosphere. Would i recommend. Definitely not but I want to be clear this isn't because of the staff putting in a great shift who were clearly trying the best they can. This place could be better managed to improve the customer experience.

The cafe is located in the House of Fraser, a long-established department store. It’s a good place to take a rest.

A lovely little hideaway located on the top floor of Kendals/House of Fraser in Manchester. It's a little oasis of calm and peace away from the frenetic pace of the high street chain coffee outlets in Manchester. There's a good selection of teas and coffees together with an excellent range if sweet desserts and savoury bites. Always find the staff are welcoming and friendly and it's a nice personal touch when they bring your order to your table. Wild Mint is now my go to venue for a coffee and lite bite. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely decorated cafe with an old fashioned, traditional charm ruined somewhat by modern music playing in the store. It’s very clean and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. Overall I liked the ambiance. However, as a vegan I was grateful for a vegan soup but there was little else on offer. No vegan sandwich, salads, cakes. Menu needs to move with the times.

We were pleased to see that a café was still located in the House of Fraser department store. It occupies a large and pleasantly decorated space. Two flat whites cost £5.40. When we visited on a Monday morning it certainly wasn’t busy, perhaps most people don’t realise it is still open.

If you take the escalators you are subjected to quite a few adverts about breakfast, bites and brunch options. When you get to the cafe, it is quite a disappointing display. The vibe is nice, but the food is nothing to talk about really, especially given the price (I had their tart and salad option which is 9 pounds). Also the brunette girl that served me at the till did not feel particularly welcoming when I arrived. I will take that down as maybe having a bad day and hope she is better, but not great as a first impression and not necessarily a place I would recommend. Also could not really concentrate as there seemed to be a team meeting happening on the floor. In short, come here for a quick coffee maybe if you are shopping and it is raining but that is probably it. And maybe as a quick win, remove any advertising within the building that does not reflect the reality of your offering.

My husband had a toastie he said it was nice. I always visit this place when in Manchester but today was not good. Otherwise the staff are always lovely and attentive, nice place to have lunch.

We called in Kendal’s , not been in years though we’ll support , cafe light airy looks nice tables not to close together , self service so que up ask for order ,similar to marks Spencer’s , staff not friendly no thank you or your welcome ,my son asked for a fresh napkin his had floated to the floor , he was told they are on your table he had to go back ask again , he is autistic but capable , they left him stood in a que , while his soup was going cold so annoying he is very polite and just waited , they could see him stood there so I then left my food bag ect to get one in seconds ? Soup ok with sandwich two of us and a coffee and a tea about £20 , I wouldn’t go again wasn’t particularly busy either. Food ok average , staff could be nicer .

Situated in Kendall's store, very quiet cafe. We had a deliciouse piece of chocolate and orange cake each. My mocha was ok, a little grainy and I'm glad a had the large size , my boyfriend small latte was minuscule. There was plenty of tables and seating.howeveri felt the tables height was too high for the seating. The sevice was good, very friendly girl. I wished they had had the Manchestet Tart as advertised.

We visit Manchester from our home in Leeds most Bank Holiday Mondays with the first port of call being breakfast at the 'Kendals Restaurant' - 6th.Floor - 'House Of Fraser' Deansgate. ( Still 'Kendals' to me and many others !). Imagine then this August Bank Holiday 26/8/19 finding said restaurant closed with some uncertaincy as to wether it will re-open such is the confusion surrounding the future of the 'House Of Fraser' brand. We therefore took heed of the sign and made our way to the 'Wild Mint' cafe on the 4th.floor. First impressions were of it being bright ,clean and comfortably appointed.Waitress service is the order of the day and the house 'Full English' arrived after a small wait. The food was grilled and enjoyable in a relaxing atmosphere. I don't know how long this may exist here as it was very quiet when we dined but I'm sure they will have busier times as they deserve to.I have to say though despite its positive aspects it's - 'NOT QUITE KENDALS'

The general decline in department store shopping which has led to the near closure of the iconic Kendal's shop in Manchester has had the perverse effect of making this pleasant café on the 4th floor a veritable oasis of calm. It is a light and airy space with comfortable tables and ample space. We had an enjoyable afternoon break there with generous pots of tea, hot chocolate and Manchester tarts. These 'delicacies' are prominently advertised at the entrance but, in my estimation, are not nearly as exciting or tasty as one might be led to expect ... a first for me despite having worked in the city-centre for many years. I would suggest that the location and ambience of this café is its strong point - away from any milling crowds - rather than the absolute quality of its confectionery.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Café Nero in Manchester, and it was a delightful experience! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a warm, cozy atmosphere that made it the perfect spot to relax or catch up on some work. The staff at Café Nero were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to recommend their signature drinks and helped me choose the perfect coffee for my taste. I opted for a delicious flat white, and it was expertly crafted—smooth and rich, just the way I like it. The seating was comfortable, making it an ideal place to unwind with a book or meet friends. I also appreciated the selection of pastries and snacks available; the croissant I tried was flaky and fresh, complementing my coffee beautifully. What stood out the most was the overall ambiance. The café had a vibrant yet relaxed vibe, making it conducive for both casual meetings and quiet moments of solitude. In summary, I highly recommend Café Nero in Manchester for anyone looking for great coffee, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I will definitely be back on my next visit to the city!
