Excellent B&B with fabulous hosts, Jackie & John. We were a family of 3 adults staying for 3 nights in the 2 available bedrooms. Both rooms were spotless, comfortable, very well presented with very comfortable beds and good quality bedding. The rooms are en-suite with large walk in showers with plenty of hot water. If you are looking to stay in the area then my advice would be to book the Crown & Anchor as our experience was 100% positive. We couldn’t find fault with anything. The location is stunning and so peaceful. Breakfasts were delicious as was the food we had from the tea rooms downstairs. Jackie’s homemade Victoria sponge is to die for. We were made to feel so welcome and would book here again if we were to return to Dumfries and Galloway. Jackie and John, thank you both so much for making our holiday so enjoyable x

Excellent B&B. Hosts Jacqui and John, couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful . If you are in the area, then you will not find anywhere better. Not to be missed. I am very particular, the accommodation was spotless, lovely Dorma bedding. I was happy. We booked 2 nights, to finish our 3 weeks touring east Scotland. Perfect ending. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful, the service came with love and smiles. I think Jacqui would have breathed for us, if she could have 😃💕 Thank you both.x

Just returned from a short stay at this B&B and can honestly say we were overwhelmed by how friendly and accommodating the hosts Jacqui and John are. They go out of their way to make your stay special. They’re fab!! The place itself is spotless clean and very comfortable with all the amenities you need. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful and there’s a lovely little tea shop downstairs selling all homemade food. All in all we can honestly say there are no negatives and we will most definitely stay here again when we’re in the area. Thank you so much J&J for your wonderful hospitality x

I cannot recommend this place enough. It is hands down the best Band B I have ever stayed in. I made to booking very last minute and was lucky enough to have chosen such a wonderful place to stay. The kindness, friendliness and loveliness of the hosts made the stay so exceptional. Jackie and John were always so helpful and friendly but always so respectful and the cooked breakfast every morning was 10/10 :) the room was prefect. Super comfy bed and so tastefully decorated and so warm and cosy. The places is literally across the road from the Medieval Abbey and I'd a really good central location to explore Dumfries and Galloway. Thank you so so much for making my mini break so special.

Monday Lunchtime and outside was a drizzly dreich September, so I dropped in here for a quick snack. Ordered coffee and a toastie, and arrived quick quickly, and both fresh and hot. -Coffee was a decent caffetiere with warmed milk, and was delicious. (Both cups.) -Toastie was a Cheese and Ham on brown bread, and came with salad, crisps and (homemade?) Coleslaw. All delicious, and well priced. Refreshed and warmed up, I chatted to the owners (nice folk!), paid and headed off into the drizzle, satisfied.

Due to a slip up on our part we arrived slightly later than we had originally negotiated. The owners couldn’t have been nicer about it & throughout our stay. It was a beautiful location that overlooked the abbey. The room was as described & pictured, a lovely big bed. The room was clean and tidy. Sky TV & ample tea, coffee, sugar & milk. Breakfast was lovely & I would highly recommend staying here.

Called in for lunch with a friend whilst out for a drive. Both of us had a burger (very meaty and tasty) served with salad, homemade coleslaw, crisps and sauce of your choice, we both had the onion relish. My friend had a coffee which was refilled for him and I went for a coke. Cake was also included in the £10.50 Burger Offer which was excellent value for money, so I went for the carrot cake which was light and nicely spiced and my friend went for the Victoria sponge and he commented that you could taste that the jam was homemade. I was going to get a slice of Victoria sponge to go but as I was still driving around for a while the heat would have ruined it. Never mind it gives me another reason to revisit this little gem of a place. Great tasty food, excellent service and extremely good value for money.

Jackie laid on a curry night for us and it was delicious. To start we had onion bajiis and samosas with 2 dips and poppadoms then for the main we had naan bread, pilau rice and 3 choices of curries, Lamb curry, chicken masala and korma along with bombay potatoes. The dessert was a choice between sticky toffee pudding and key lime pie. Some of us had a bit of both! Jackie, Lauren and John were very attentive throughout the night, always making sure we were well looked after. It was also lovely to be able to have a conversation without blaring music in the background spoiling the night like most party nights can do. A most enjoyable night with great food and great company. Would definitely recommend this establishment anytime of the day.

This was our second visit to this lovely tearoom. Jacqui, the owner is so friendly and makes the most delicious cakes and scones you can only dream of! The cakes are so light they don’t even feel sinful! Today we had sandwiches first, the bread was lovely and the fillings generous. Well worth a visit if you’re visiting the abbey or just passing through. Opening times are limited during the week so check first to avoid any disappointment.

Jackie, the owner laid on a special spread for our local tennis club and it was amazing. There were a selection of meats, salads, rice, pasta, homemade coleslaw etc. plenty there and all very tasty. For our dessert we had a selection of fresh fruit, ice-cream, cream and homemade meringues that were so delicious I went back for seconds. She offered us soft drinks and water but a lot of us brought our own bottle so were content to just drink that.Jackie was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed offering us coffees and teas. We’re local but don’t often manage to get to cafes right on our doorstep due to work commitments. Went into this delightful looking cafe but the wee rom was full (6 people) We asked if we could sit in the empty room, laid out with menus and got an abrupt if you like from the woman in the kitchen. Then no one came to take our order so we left after ten minutes. Not friendly.

Was in Dundrennan last weekend and delighted to find the Crown and Anchor Cafe is open again after their winter break. Thankfully the same extremely high standards coupled with reasonable prices still prevail. After a walk along the instesting Galloway Shoreline at Abbey Burnfoot , my friend and I were ravenous. We both opted for the Breakfast , which was a great decision. Freshly Cooked , Many different components , and Drinks and Toast included in the price. Not only that expertly prepared and served by our ever friendly hosts Jacqui and John.Unfortunately after such a feast I didnt have room for the delicious home bakes cakes on display. On the plus side that gives me another excuse to call, not that any excuse is necessary. Just cant wait for my next visit.Incidentally all the other patrons I have met in their are always very friendly as well , and its size and intimacy lead to great craik.

We were "out for drive" on a wet Saturday.. actually to Castle Douglas... but could find NOWHERE suitable there to have lunch. We meandered toward Kircudbright and passed thru Dundrennan.. I was about to say, "We'll get nothing here" when we came across the Crown and Anchor. WHAT A MARVELLOUS FIND. The food was home cooked and very well presented and served quickly, ( and the place was busy). The surrounding were spotless and beautifully cared for. The proprietors were very welcoming and friendly. We opted for the toasted sandwiches which were superbly cooked and presented, and tea/coffee ( free refills - were offered)If you live locally.. please support this little gem of a place... if you don't go and search it out. WE will be back. If I could give them 7 of of 5 I would. PS we didn't have room for cake.. but they looked superb.

Popped in the other day and asked the propieter pleasantly if his cafe was dog friendly for my wife, wee Harry (HRH) and myself to have a cup of tea.The more than abrupt answer was “No”He then went on to tell me that he didn’t know how the very many other cafes and hotels up and down the land got away with being dog friendly.I asked him why and his reasoning was that apparently dogs give off some sort of airborne substances that contaminate displayed cakes and scones etc., (shouldn’t they be covered?) and humans don’t ?He then went on to tell me that he was a dog lover himself (two dogs) but even they were never allowed in the house.I appreciate that cafe/restaurant/hotel owners have a right to make their own rules regarding being dog friendly or not but most of those that aren’t, decline with an apology and some sensitivity .Not this chap. Be warned!

Seven of us turned up here for lunch. We all had main and cake with drinks for less that £10 per head. Drinks were refilled for free and I must have had 3/4 cups of coffee for the cost of a single coffee. The owners were very helpful and looked after us well. I had the large breakfast (photo attached) whilst 3 others had Beef Stew and dumplings with peas and red cabbage. We stayed overnight in the B&B. We didn't get a chance to sample the delights of the tea room, however our stay was delightfully relaxing and we're looking forward to our next visit to take advantage of what looked like a mouthwatering array of cakes. Hosts Jaqui and John are genuinely nice people, welcoming without being too in your face. It's very refreshing to come across people like Jacqui and John who care about making their customers comfortable, and making sure that they're very well fed, with quality produce. It seems to be a personal goal of theirs. The breakfast was really, really tasty, and there was lots of it. Jacqui is especially proud of sourcing local produce, and we were glad to partake of it!Our room was very clean, comfortable and very peaceful. We loved the fact that Dundrennan, whilst being in the countryside, was within arms reach of Kirkudbright, Dumfries etc. We heartily recommend this place for stressed out folk: the ambience is lovely and the countryside is truly gorgeous.

This tea rooms is the hub of the local area, with amazing home made, fresh food. I notice one gentleman didnt like the chatter, there is also a quiet room which maybe more suited to his needs where he can have a view of the Abbey and the fantastic country side. Alternatively there is a lovely outside seating. Another lady comments that she found the freshly brewed coffee a little weak for her taste, there is a double shot coffee on the menu. I travel to this tea room on a regular basis and always find a warm welcome and delicious food.

Been here a couple of times and it is really nice, lovely decor and the food is delicious, add to this a fantastic location and you have one of the best tea rooms in the area. The only downside for me is the lack of any background music to drown out the voices of the staff twittering on about nothing, note to owner......please supply some music as your chit chat is really not that interesting.

Neighbours recommended this place and as a visit to the newly refurbished Kirkcudbright Art Gallery was required, Dundrennan was a good stopping off spot. There is parking space for about 4 vehicles right beside the Crown and Anchor otherwise everyone just parks outside on the street. A couple of steps in and you're there. A cosy cafe for about 12 to 14 folk with another room opposite which can be used for overspill or larger parties.Decided to try the all day breakfast which was well cooked with all the usual suspects. This was cooked to order and the egg was perfect, with excellent sausage, sliced haggis and black pudding and more - even the generous portions of brown toast was perfect. On a subsequent visit, the soup was first rate, and friends raved about their meals generally. Homemade is the key and the scones and cakes are quite something. Friendly atmosphere and excellent food however the one downside was that the coffee was rather weak though 'top-ups' were generously offered. Difficult to put one's finger on why the decor doesn't complement the food or the friendly attention but this is a little gem that shouldn't be missed ( just needs a tiny bit of polishing)

After 20 years standing empty, thank goodness Jacqui and John decided to turn this into the most fabulous Tea Rooms and Bed and Breakfast. We were extremely lucky to have managed to book both the rooms for the weekend and we wish we didn't have to leave today! Jacqui is a wonderful host who looked after our every need. The boys were immediately won over by a delicious Victoria Sponge Cake on our arrival in the pouring rain. The rain continued over the weekend but it didn't spoil our stay. Our rooms were immaculate, with very comfortable beds which we would have been happy staying in during the entire trip. Despite an overnight power cut Jacqui produced a fantastic full English breakfast on a camping stove! The food is excellent especially Jacqui's home baking highly recommend the fruit scones with jam & cream, her Victoria Sponge is delicious very light.. Well most definitely stay here again and highly recommend a visit here whether it's for tea & scones or a overnight stay it's well worth it.

Called for coffee and scones with jam and cream and very good they were too. Beautiful tearoom in a fantastic position. The owners were a delight. Worth a detour if you are in Kirkcudbright for the festivities or on holiday.

Called in here today whilst taking our granddaughter driving lesson. Well worth the visit. Had delicious home made fruit scone with jam and fresh cream. Everything sparkling clean. Menu not large but has something for everyone. Home made cakes looked delicious. Small and cosy inside and outside tables for the sun lovers or if you are travelling with animals. The owner serves herself and makes sure you have everything you want. Will visit again later in the day and sample a light lunch. Just so you know - closed on Tuesdays.

Called in yesterday morning for our usual Sunday morning cuppa, had heard good things about the place so wanted to see for ourselves - and we weren't disappointed! What a wonderful job the new owners have done to the building, inside and out. We received a most friendly welcome, were served delicious home baking (scone and carrot cake), and a most generous pot of tea. Couldn't fault anything and most reasonably priced. A real find and a great asset tom the village. We'll be back!

Popped in today for lunch, as we'd heard it had newly opened this year. Beautifully and tastefully decorated, very fresh and plenty of space. We ordered a cheese & red onion toastie and a tuna mayonnaise toastie, washed down with a filtered coffee & water. Toasties were lovely and my partner was extremely happy with the amount of tuna in his toastie, completely packed with tuna and slight amount of mayo. Everything was freshly made and well presented. Lovely staff and you were not rushed. We didn't try the cakes but we will next time. Outside seating area too if the weather is nice and roughly 4-5 car parking spaces off the road.

Whilst visiting Dundrennan Abbey today my husband and I were advised by abbey staff that the nearby Crown & Anchor Tearoom was a must visit for a refreshment if we wanted it. When lunch time came we duly made our way there and I must say we were not disappointed. We had hot rolls plus the biggest pot of tea for two imaginable (plus an offer of hot water to refill) and then absolutely gorgeous homemade cakes. The price was unbeatable and was real value for money so much so we offered more than the stated cost because the quality of food and quality of service definitely warranted it.The owners are lovely and welcoming and if we were in the area again we'd definitely return.Best wishes to the couple in their newish venture .......... on the quality of todays service you deserve every success.

This tearoom only opened last week and, if our visit today is anything to go by, will quickly become established on the local 'circuit'. It is close to Dundrennan Abbey, has its own parking and is easy to find.Inside it is tastefully decorated over two rooms. One is mostly tables and chairs and the other room has a selection of comfy sofas to relax into. Both rooms have stunning views of the abbey and across the valley to the hills beyond. There was a real fire burning while we were there. The menu is not huge but I suspect the owner is testing the waters to see what is popular. There was soup, various sandwiches and an all day breakfast (and very nice it was too!) with a selection of homemade scones and cakes. When I asked for a glass of tap water it came in a jug, a nice touch. The staff were very friendly, efficient and keen to please.During our time there there was a constant stream of customers, some visitors, some local. This place, I feel, will become an asset to the local community. I will certainly be back!

The best coffee in Langholm can never just one cup though. Our second visit this month, last time we had lunch which was lovely, chilli wrap. This time we just had coffee and a shortbread biscuit for Alfie the dog. Very friendly attentive staff. Fully reccomend.

First ever visit on a Sunday. Three course lunch for £15, two for £12 and just the main for £8.95. Good food and comes with a hot or cold drink (cannot say cold as fruit juice had not been chilled). Will be back.
