Went there today for Sunday lunch with my wife and little Border Terrier. The Sunday lunch was really nice, In fact I would go as far as to say it was one of the nicest Sunday lunches we have had for a very long time. On arriving at the pub we were greeted with a warm welcome, and the service we received was excellent. This is a very good country pub and looked well supported going by the amount of people eating and drinking there. We will be going back sometime soon as this pub impressed us both.

We visited this well-appointed pub for lunch on 22nd May. My wife and sister both had ham, egg and chips and thought it was excellent, and the ham very generous in amount and high quality. I had the homemade lasagne with chips and a small salad. With hindsight, I should have declined the chips for a more substantial salad as chips do not go with lasagne despite many restaurants serving it. My lasagne was a soft mush and not very appetising. We had planned to have home-made apple pie for dessert, but it turned out this was not available when we chose it from the menu. The service was good and attentive, but as an overall experience this lunch was disappointing.

We are locals to the Acton Crown and use it alot but hadn't eaten there since it changed hands 6 weeks ago. We took my mother in law and step daughter for Sunday lunch and I have to say just how amazing it was. Three of us had a roast dinner and one had Lasagne. My Roast Pork was cooked to perfection, the roast potatoes crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, vegetables were not to hard or to soft, cauliflour cheese was great, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding spot on and the gravy was very tasty. Extremely generous portions also. Everyone at the table said how great their meal was and would happily come back. Thank you Liz. Was great seeing Michelle & Paul working behind the bar as a husband and wife team, and a special shout out to their Daughter Sophie who waited on us, she was very polite, smiley, checked in on us to make sure all was well, she did a great job. Well done Soph! Really was nice seeing their family working together to give a very friendly service to everyone in there. Well done guys, keep up the good work 👏

Most importantly I had so compliment the chef as I had the most beautifully cooked rib eye steak, I'm use caution usually when ordering a steak and order medium rare confident I'll get my much preferred medium stea k but I threw caution to the wind today and simply ordered medium. To my delight service was fast and that steak was cooked to perfection as was everything on that plate. Definitely will be returning soon

This is a straightforward very good pub. Food is excellent value with a really wide choice. We ate here both evenings we were staying nearby and it was serving (no food Monday, all other evenings to our knowledge food available). The fact it was popular - without being overcrowded - shows its worth.

Treated our mothers to a meal on mother's day, We had various meals and were all given a pasta bowl size of vegetables to share amongst 4 of us, the main meal was warm enough but the vegetables were stone cold and about fridge temperature! Not impressed at all, would certainly not return!!

Dinner during our short break, rang and booked a table as there was a promotion night and it could be busy! Very friendly staff all round. Drinks ordered and brought to the table. Order taken and lovely fresh, hot food appeared. Nothing too much trouble. This is a “local” pub, ladies get together, birthday celebration, couples enjoying a meal together along side locals having a pint at the bar. The atmosphere was great despite the hammering rain outside. Recommend.

A very popular local pub with restaurant. Good selection of beers on tap. I came here earlier this month with a family member and chose a meal from the specials board. The quality did not disappoint, so I’ve come back again and I’m delighted to say the meal exceeded expectations. If I have to find criticism, it’s the portions are big, that’s not the Crowns fault. I’m not a big eater and I hate to waste anything. That leaves me no room to try a desert. Staff are friendly and accommodating and although parking can be a bit restrictive there is a public car park at the village hall directly behind the Crown. Ps: I’ve already chosen my meal when I visit next. 👍🏻

We booked a table for 4 on Sunday 13th June 2021,really fancied a roast ,the offer was amazing starter or dessert plus dinner great price at £12.95 . The staff Michelle ,Liam and others (sorry didn't get their names) and (owner Vicky ) were helpful, and very attentive to our needs as table service only due to covid rules ,cannot fault anything ,apart from certain members of the public not abiding by the rules clearly set out ,which was very frustrating for the barstaff on a very hot day wearing their masks but having to repeat themselves numerous times while we were there .(shame on you ) we had a very pleasant afternoon ,great public house with great (patient) staff .

This is a pub for the good folk of Acton (the birthplace of Ronald Blythe, author of Akenfield) and it was lovely to hear the local accents as people enjoyed (appropriately distanced) socialising after lockdown. Don't let the rather vivid carpet on the left side put you off as you walk in. The food was very good, with lots of choice - including vegetarian and vegan options- freshly cooked, and warm, friendly service. The pudding I had was not home made, but tasty enough, and in these uncertain times you can't blame landlords for being cautious about over-ordering. We also enjoyed the banging 80's soundtrack.

We had heard about the steak night from friends and as we had a child free evening we thought we would give it a try. We hadn't booked but a table was soon ready for us, a lovely friendly welcome and a great pint while we chose our steak meals with the choice of red, white or rose wine to accompany our steaks. Wow the steaks were amazing, a good size portion of chips and all the trimmings. Could we fit in a dessert, we decided to share a chocolate brownie, homemade and so so tasty! Thank you the crown for our date night we will be returning!

Met with two friends for lunch. Staff very friendly and service quick. Opted for the Whitebait for a starter - very good portion and very tasty. Main meals from the two for £15 options. Didn't order a desert as I was stuffed - that's very sign of the starter and main course good as I am a big eater.

We have visited here a couple of times now and have always found the food lovely so we chose here again for a 70th birthday celebration. They couldn't of been more accommodating for us from the start of communication to the pre-ordering right up to the evening. Every meal was brought out all together and lovely and hot. They allowed us to put balloons .e.t.c on the tables and brought the cake out for us too even though they were busy with a large Christmas party they still found the time to look after us. Very friendly staff too so thank you for a lovely evening.

Booked in advance for 12.30 Family Sunday lunch (6 adults 4 children 2yr - 5yr) Arrived in good time and ready to order by about 1.50. After a few minutes waitress came back to say they didn't have enough Chicken so could we choose again. How come No Chicken as they only opened at 12 o'clock !! Anyway Beef was ordered. Meals came to table quite quickly as it was not very busy. My wife and I had the Lamb which was quite tough and virtually tasteless. Although there were plenty of vegetables the plates seemed a bit of an overloaded muddle. Nothing like the photo on the website!!. I noticed other adults didn't seem to be enjoying their beef and, in fact, my wife's son (his birthday meal) said the meat tasted odd and did not eat it at all. Maybe something should have been said at the time but as I was only a guest it was not my place to comment...Time for sweet....... My wife and I shared an Apple Pie and Custard which was very good. Two others had Sticky Toffee Pudding which was good too. One child had Chocolate Brownie and two others had just Ice Cream. I elected to pay the Bill which included various drinks and the Total was £175.30. Blimey that's expensive I thought !!! Reviewing the bill at home we noticed we had been charged £3.95 for the kid's Ice Cream but it should have been £2.95. Why can't people get things right..... and also the website says Sunday Roasts from £9.95 So why oh why charge £12.95 for a sub-standard roast dinner We won't be re-visiting ever.......

A tell-tale sign of a potential good experience is the welcoming smile you receive on entering this pub. It has that warmth and atmosphere so often missing these days. The menu has a wide variety especially the desserts. We enjoyed the meal on Tuesday so returned again on Thursday - different staff; same great hospitality. Steak night deal still featured 8oz quality meat, definitely excellent value. Well done to all concerned

Myself, my wife and daughter visited the pub as it was their steak night the food we ordered was excellent and well presented with plenty on the plate. We'll done to the staff and chef the food we had here a few years ago with the previous owners we saw was cooked in the microwave and wasn't a touch on the food and service that is now the norm for this friendly village pub, well done to all and keep the excellent service up please.

Ordered a chicken korma and pasta bake today, although service was good was very disappointed with the food. The korma had about 5 chunks of chicken and was swimming in watery sauce, the naan bread was also stone cold and not heated up. The pasta and brocolli bake with cheese, had 8 small pasta shells and 5 small pieces of brocolli, and was swimming in cheese like a bowl of liquid, garlic bread was also cold. As this was our first visit we were disappointed.

We called in for a pint and light lunch at the end of a morning's walk. We were cheerfully welcomed and made to feel at home. This is still a pub that does meals rather than a restaurant that serves beer and inside the spacious premises half had tables laid up for lunch the in the other half tables were left clear for drinkers and those like us seeking a smaller meal. The premises were light and airy, clean and tidy and there was room enough for a pool table to be included. There were just two reals ales on offer on bar hand pumps, both from the Greene King brand, but the choice was adequate for our needs. We each chose a baguette meal - one a tuna mayo, the other a sausage and onion and both were served with a few crisps and a small side salad. The baguettes were really well filled and looked appetising on presentation. The beer and meal were enjoyable and we felt represented good value for money. We shall happily return.

Visited on Fri night and the cook Jo was extremely accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious. Menu is varied and there are excellent deals throughout the week - lunch time menu for two and special steak night etc. Staff are very friendly and Jo is a real asset to them. The gammon and rump steak were cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. Will be going back.

Had a lovely meal here with my mum on a Monday afternoon, delicious vegetarian lasagne; very freshly made as the veg inside (aubergines, courgettes, onions) still had that crisp bite to them, plus there was a tonne of cheese and a lovely sauce involved!

Ate here in the evening. There is a good selection of food some of which is suitable for Gluten Free customers. The food is hot and tasty. There is a decent sized dining area. The bar sells a couple of Greene King ales and the usual selection of wines and spirits. Friendly staff. There are a few seats outside the front and at the rear.

Visited last week, booked an early evening table but they had already ran out of prawn cocktail, the homemade steak and kidney pudding, and the meat pie. On ordering dessert apparently the homemade pancakes where also off the menu. Never mind, the syrup sponge pudding and custard should surely be a good choice - no it wasn't! Over cooked in the microwave with the syrup a hard lump at the bottom of the dish! Even the chocolate brownie was over heated. Very disappointed. If this pub wants to do well then they need to keep dogs out of the restaurant area, stop pouring gravy over the cottage pie (serve it separately) and maybe stop the cook from sitting at the bar so much. She could have popped out and bought flour, eggs and milk to make the pancakes! We certainly won't be returning.

As a pool player for this pub I'm in here most days. What makes this pub the place to be is the character, the charm, the staff who make it such a cosy place to frequent. The food is amazing, my favourite by far is the roast dinners. Massive fan of then. The staff too are friendly and accommodating, even playing pool they come over and talk to you ask you about your day ect, their general attitude is very positive and it makes the experience that much better. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Keep up the great work!

Michael and Sheila have gone although the new "lady of the house" is actually Sheilas daughter. I appreciated we are in troubled times with a lot of pubs cutting back but a very limited menu will not impress previous customers, although the fish couldn't have been fresher. A big no is the owners children having the run of the pub, just imagine "grumpy" Michaels comments!!!.
