We visited whilst on a break away in the area it is a very welcoming village pub. The people are friendly the service is great, the food delicious and it is reasonably priced too. I had the ploughman’s which was hearty, my partner had the double burger which was homemade and full of flavour. We also had a pudding each and the sticky toffee pudding was a really good size but we asked for it with custard instead of ice cream. I had a scoop each of the lemon and raspberry which were both refreshing not to mention a little sour but this was very manageable. We definitely recommend a visit here and when we are in the area again we will be visiting again too.

Went there for lunch today to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Met with friendliness from the barmaid Laurie. Found out what was gluten free for me on the menu. We both had a fabulous meal food was excellent and plenty of it didn't have to wait long either. Pub is clean comfortable and garden looked lovely but we opted to sit inside. Menu gave enough choices. Could not recommend more we will definitely be back.

Traditional pub in a pretty village ....great for drinks in the September sunshine . We had booked for an evening meal unfortunately most things on the limited menu were unavailable . Ribs /Lamb shank ...sold out. We opted for Mediterranean Tart (last one) and Katsu Chicken (strips of fried chicken with a gloopy sauce) Basic as we say in England "pub grub" . We toured Dorset and Hampshire for most of August and into September and found very few pubs that did little more than basic menus. The Crown disappointed

We had a family meal at The Crown this evening. The food was really good and very reasonable. My daughter had a lovely pie, mash and vegetables, my other daughter and I had the beef and bacon lasagne which came with a fresh and tasty salad and fresh garlic bread. My husband had one of the Specials - a bacon and brie burger with chips and onion rings. The food was lovely, home made and was really resonably priced. We are only here the week and we were advised to book for dinner as they get busy for dinner and only have one table left most nights this week. They have a curry night tomorrow which sounded lovely. The ales were good and the bar man was really polite and really helpful. Offered my daughter extra gravy if she needed it with the mash. Nothing felt too much.

My partner and I had some car issues whilst staying for a long weekend in Winterborne Stickland, we ended up being stranded for a couple of days when we were supposed to be out exploring the Jurassic Coast and all the area has to offer. Thankfully Winterborne Stickland has some lovely walks to take the dog on, is a lovely quintessential old English village and, more importantly, has The Crown to eat, drink and relax in after a long winters walk. The food was great, traditional pub food - I had the steak when we ate there night which was tasty and very filling, big portions! There is also a good range of beers on tap and a very welcoming atmosphere with lovely locals. I understand the pub has changed hands recently, and the new owners were lovely, talkative, and made a fuss of our Black Labrador puppy (you can take your dog into the bar area and eat from the full menu). We will no question be returning to Winterbourne Stickland to stay as a base to explore the Jurassic Coast in the future, and will definitely be returning to The Crown for some food and a drink (or two).

Went to the pub as new people had taken over, bar lady seemed miserable, not at all welcoming or friendly, coke was flat and tasted awful, lunch was no better, smothered chicken, tough, with a bit of BBQ sauce and some grated cheese thrown on top, burger, the roll had been freezer burnt and toasted to try and hide this, so there fore just broke into crusty pieces, gammon, no taste, mash like cement, after reading reviews there was a good improvement, compared to the last people, I was very disappointed, and will not be going back. We once had a thriving pub in the village, with friendly staff, fab food, and great entertainment. Sadly this has long gone.

I've read some other issues about dogs at this premises, and I also have a dog. but I get the feeling the pub isn't really a place to have one or three, If you don't have time to walk them properly

A pleasant village pub owned by Ringwood Brewery. Good ale and food.Access for my wife, who has MS, was OK but a couple of small steps proved a slight problem. I wasn't too pleased to have to ask the barmaid if she had pulled the pipes through before my pint. She then pulled another one which was excellent. That was a minus point in my books.

We have been recommended this place by various people so thought we would give it a try on Thursday Evening. We arrived right in the middle of peak eating time and hadn't booked but that wasn't a problem-they found us somewhere to sit in the garden and it was a lovely evening so we were more than happy with that. The staff were fab-very friendly and chatty and acknowledged us as soon as we walked in even though they were really busy! Food was about a 40 minute wait, but we were advised of that when we ordered so wasn't an issue and it was well worth the wait! We both had burgers (one beef and one chicken). They were both delicious. Service was fab even though we were sitting outside, sometimes I feel a bit forgotten when sitting in pub gardens. We both also had honeycombe sundae for pudding which was just amazing! Can't recommend this place, and the fab staff and delicious food at reasonable prices enough! Looking forward to returning very soon!

We had a lovely meal here with friends - was chuffed that they actually stock Old Mout Cider! (Hurray!) We went on curry night - they have some excellent deals on different food on different nights. The hot food was fantastic, made a mistake by ordering the cheese board as it was a bit dry without any butter and the cheeses weren't a good range! Wish I'd had the ice cream sundae instead - that looked amazinggggg! Staff were warm and friendly and toilets were clean. Unsure about wheelchair access as there is a steep step going in but there is also a lovely flat beer garden so maybe you could get in through there?

A group of 12 of us came to dine here on Friday 15th July. We were a mixture of family and friends celebrating a group members 50th birthday. We all had matching t shirts on and were welcome to the pub with open arms and fits of laughing! Who can blame them, we must have looked like muppets! We were quickly seated and shown the menu, definitely spoilt for choice! The menu is absolutely fabulous with a good choice of specials, from stuffed peppers to sirloin steak. I settled for a burger, you could definitely tell we were all eating and enjoying the food as no one was talking! The lady who served us was absolutely wonderful and was so attentive to our needs all evening. We even got to meet the resident pub dog! Definitely spoilt! At the end of the night we felt too full to move, and after terrific service with lots of wine, the landlord and landlady offered us a lift back to where we were staying for he weekend. If that's not fantastic service, I don't know what is! Seriously cannot fault it one bit. Thank you so much for your hospitality! If we're in the area again we will be popping in!

We are currently staying in Turnworth and stopped for supper at The Crown a couple of days ago. We were very pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome we received from the staff and the relaxed atmosphere. I had a warm Chicken and Bacon salad and my husband had Salmon Pearls with a risotto salad. Good pub grub, great value for money.

Stumbled on this place while out with my Mum. Lovely old pub with really nice garden. Wasn't expecting much from the food - we veggies learn to just be grateful that we can find anything - but the homemade haloumi tart was just delicious. Had a lovely time and hope to return.

Booked a table on the day. Family of 4 plus dog. On arrival left standing around for more than 5 mins. Had to assume the reserved table was for us. Had to approach bar for drinks and a menu. Bar staff queried whether they were informed about dog despite us asking when booking. Told to keep dog on close lead. Food when it came was decent quality. Ales were good. Customer service improved as meal went on. Had to chase a side order which eventually came after mains were finished. Disappointing as recent review said had improved. Very dark furniture and lighting. Wouldn't go again.

Shocking breakfast, service appalling. Bain fatty, sausage tasteless and bread like hardboard. Definitely a place to avoid, the staff just dumped my tea on the service counter and left it there. They
