The Crown in Walsall

Pub was busy on arrival which was good to see , we were welcomed , greeted & acknowledged by staff who were delivering meals . When available we were taken to our table which was clean , comfortable and stocked with condiments / cutlery & napkins We ordered at the bar - there was a little wait in the queue as staff didnt appear to be confident using till We had starters obviously freshly cooked & hot , and great tasting as usual We then had a fairly long wait for our mains ( roast chicken sunday lunch & steak & ale pie meal) having to ask twice for meals When they arrived all was hot & fresh and they were tasty as usual Drinks were usual excellent quality & taste

We were greeted by very friendly staff and they were very efficient and friendly. I noted how well they cleaned up after guests had left the table. Note First time we have visited in 2 years due to pandemic. We had used to use the Crown regularly. We will certainly come again.

Been sitting here now for over 1.30 only just got our food very cold food dry only a couple of staff our food still not no puddings still not got a second drink food very dry not been asked if food ok never again shit show

We had two main meals. The Surf and Turf and I had the Hunters Chicken. Both meals were beautifully cooked and plentiful. My partners steak was perfectly cooked. A half of cider and a lemonade were our drinks.

Staff were so polite and helpful! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was amazing and so was Wendy our server

We only live in Norton Canes and keep receiving offers through our door, we were at a loose end on Saturday and decided to give The Crown a try. We have a fabulous time, all of the staff were so welcoming and friendly and it always sets off a great atmosphere in a restaurant, the staff all seem to really like working there and have excellent customer service. We will be back soon, food was great but we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Thank you for a great dinner.

Food was amazing, came piping hot and delivered to our table of many all at same time, no waiting etc. Customer service second to none, very attentive, very friendly and very professional. Prices very reasonable, well worth a visit for a romantic meal of two or for a party celebration like ours.

4.10.24 - We were invited back to see if things could be done properly. I have to say that this evenings experience is much more what we expect from The Crown, and indeed many of the Marstons pubs we've visited. Not only were we seated quickly, but our drink order was taken promptly as well as our subsequent food order. The food was cooked to perfection, and we were looked after so much better this time. Thank you!

At time of arriving there were just two occupied tables and another was occupied after us. Drinks order was taken in a timley manor, i asked for rare steak, i normally have medium rare, the steak that was prezented was medium rare. The bar staff were also the table waiters which explained that no one checked if our food was ok, no one asked if we wanted another drink and no one collected our plates and asked if we wanted a desert (we did check the desert menu and both of us wanted one, thats a £11 sale lost) no one came, i had to go to the bar to pay. Two bar staff, they must have been really skillfull at serving one woman so slowley. Not the service that we experienced before the food prices increased by over £2 an item.....not sure if i will return

Visited the crown for the first time and customer service was excellent from the time we walked in to the time we left. All members of staff were helpful and pleasant. The food was lovely too and really enjoyed our meals. Cannot fault anything.

We had a meal here with family around 5 years ago which was not brilliant and thought we will give it another chance, still the food is not great, very simple food, very golden, no actual colourful foods on any of the plates, unappetising!! This establishment could be an amazing place, with its great location and houses located close by, the pub was empty. Something is definitely wrong with this place. Sorry

Just a flying visit, grabbed a coffee, staff where delightful and managed to make us laugh.

Used the charging pod. Easy access shame about the graffiti on the machine Only one was working too. Update on the pods. Graffiti removed. CCTV signs added. We've eaten here twice now. Reservations are a must for food as it gets really busy at lunchtime. Lovely pub inside. Fully wheelchair accessible. Top food. No issues. Will definitely visit again.

Usually eating at the crown is a very positive experience but not so today. Service was so slow as to be virtually non-existent. Obviously short staffed. Food was good, as is usual but was spoilt by lack of service. Other diners were complaining bitterly. We usually tip well at the crown but left nothing tonight, no tip was earned.

I enjoyed my time here - the staff were friendly, the prices were reasonable and the food came quickly and tasted great. Atmosphere was good, tables weren't too cramped and it was easy to park.

My self hubby and brother and sister in law often go out for lunch .hadn't been to the crown for ages went today so glad we did best meal we've had in a long time .so a big thanks to the chef and to Dawn for looking after us lovely food lovely people lovely clean place so a big thanks from the froggatt family

Wow i was made so welcome at the crown on watling street for my pub dinner,molly the server looked after me whith a outstanding quality service . food was so good iff i had a bigger stomack i would have ate more,it was so lovley,quality food at its best,a roast chicken dinner,then a choclate and ice cream desert. Lovely country pub, ideal for a quick meal en route. We enjoyed the salad with chicken and bacon. The staff were friendly.

A relaxed atmosphere with very friendly and smiley staff. Food standards are good for a pub, with a good cook on the food with a nice presentation. Prices won't break the bank either.

First visit and was really impressed. The menu was varied, and the food was good. Customer service was very good 👍. Decor clean and well maintained, looks like it has had a recent upgrade.

Just been, service was great, and food was lovely. Not been for years. So glad that I tried there again. My friend had Scampi, I had the gammon, with sweet potato fries. Perfect!

It's been a long time since I've eaten at The Crown. We were welcomed as we arrived, the service was quick and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, both the beef and turkey was perfectly cooked and tender. Although we were full we had sweets which were lovely. All at a good price, we'll visit again soon

The Crown is clean, light and airy. Staff were all very friendly and helpful with a smile too! My hubby had a curry and I had the pie. Very tasty food and will definitely go back again. Well Done Everyone at The Crown

Abysmal food camo peas underdone pie tough steak cheap tasting sausage, food is fairly good for price I still expect a good plate of food and good presentation not different coloured peas and underdone pie and horrible sausage also eggshell in my eggs! Avoid like the plague, chefs obviously inexperienced or just don't care about the food they serve

Staff were really friendly, and nothing was too much trouble, they were accommodating and let us sit in the bar, as our friends had to bring their dog with them….he even had his own little dinner, the food was really good, thanks for great service

We had a lovely meal, there were 6 of us, all different orders, the food was very good, service was good too, even though you seemed a little understaffed at times, and the family enjoyed the quiz.

Food was quickly served hot and tasted good. The lasagne was very slightly overcooked but to be fair I quite like crunchy bits!

Popped in for our Sunday Lunch. Lovely place for a relaxing meal. Always made Welcome and even the Doggies get their Dinners there.

We havent been here for a few years as the food was rubbish, but we went tonight and i was amazed at the food and staff level it was fantastic, and for one member of staff (Italia) she was fantastic a massive thumbs up from me and we will be going back. Thank you to all at the crown, brownhills

Called in on a Thursday lunchtime. Good number of cars on the car park and quite a few customers inside when we went in. Very pleasant welcome and no delay in ordering drinks. After studying the menu we made our choice and shared a hot steak and cheese baguette. Food arrived after a perfectly reasonable timeframe and was hot but not too hot, packed with steak and plenty of cheese with some chips included. Very impressed by how clean, tidy and welcoming this place was and will certainly visit again for an evening meal. Very happy, thank you!

We thought 5pm on a Sunday should be reasonably quiet - and based on the carpark and restaurant, it definitely wasn't overly busy. Firstly, we waited over 30mins for a couple of pies and kids' meals, but I could see there were a couple of bigger groups also waiting so fair enough. For dessert, we ordered 2 children's desserts which also took 30mins to arrive. We nearly left rather than wait. The order via QR code was glitchy so we had to give up and wait at the bar, it was also showing items available which weren't and visa versa. This is the second time I've been here within a few weeks at a quietish time and had to wait longer than you'd expect. The Crown used to be a nicer option over other pubs in the area with a varied specials board and cake choices, now I think it's nowhere near as good as it used to be.

Menu is better .But this place used to be really busy when it was 2for1 now its dead .The portions are so small for the price you pay especially compared to the husky Arms down the road which is now always busy !need to review size of portions and or price

Efficient friendly polite service, even checking whether we wanted coffee before turning off the machine. Lovely food, delicious pudding and lots of choice. Dog friendly in areas with treats and dog bowls available

Just had a lovely meal. Service was great, I has organised for a cake to be brought out at the end of the meal and staff were brilliant, bringing plates, a knife and serviettes. I was also allowed to put up banners, confetti on the table and being helium balloons for the table too. Food was tasty and a good selection.

A lovely place, the staff are amazing. Dawn, Simon and Molly are fantastic they always make us feel welcome as do all th staff. We wouldn't go anywhere else for food. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly place to eat. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is amazing too.

The staff where pleasant and I thought how hard working they were, considering the amount of people that where there we were served very quickly.!! The food was excellent and this thought was shared with all 8 of our party.

It was really busy and there was only one member of staff on the tills so there was a bit of a wait to order. I realized I had been over charged and the issue was identified quickly and refunded the difference. The food was lovely again the only moan my son has is that there are not enough beans on the mixed grill 😂

Staff are always friendly. Nothing to much trouble, food is outstanding, especially the chicken and bacon salad yum 😋 Etc. We also go every Xmas. It's fantastic atmosphere. This is the only place we go at Xmas time. Will be booking again for 2024. Fantastic 5* Pub .

The staff was skeletal. The food took over an hour and a half to come. It came in a minute portion and didn’t have on the plate what was on the menu. We used to go here all the time pre Covid. Now it is somewhere we will never go back to. Extremely disappointed.

Burger ok but should have more salad Nachos wit pulled pork small portion £14 it’s to much fish no good batter too soft should be crispy

Took mother there for mother's day dinner,we had a beef dinner which was totally unedible, we waiting two hours for this and when we told them it was unedible all we got was told we didn't have to pay for it,not that I was going to anyway, no we will get you something you can eat, no here's a voucher for a free meal having serving you rubbish.,He was just going round saying the same thing to everyone who ordered the beef dinner. Avoid this place.

Our second time visiting first time round was great. But when we booked a table of 7 we got put at the back of the pub in a cold narrow corner with dogs we kept nearly tripping over. Half the food we was ordering was out of stock half the pudding was out of stock so we left it. Coffee machine was out of order lipstick on the glass. We told the bar keep and he gave us 25 discount it is a shame as first time around was 5 stars but won't visit again.
