The Crown in Central Bedfordshire

We visited for a family party in the Pool Bar. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough. The food was really nice and most importantly the toilets were spotless. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Just great! Went before a Luton match, the owner Dave couldn’t have been nicer. Very engaging, came from behind the bar to show us history hanging in the walls!! Good food, great service. Worth it!!

Stayed at The Crown as a stopover with our motorhome en route to Suffolk. Found on Brit Stops, what particularly caught my eye is that they are a wet led pub. The pub serves pizza until 8pm and a visit would be worthwhile for one of these alone, they are excellent. On the wet side three very well kept real ales were available along with a craft ale and lagers. What we didn't know before we arrived was that the monthly open mic night was on. This turned out to be one of the best bits of luck I have had in a while. It was very entertaining with everything from own penned songs to a lot of well known crowd pleaser's. The place was rocking by the end of the evening and even our Springer Spaniels enjoyed the furore and all the attention they got. We will definitely be stopping off again during our travels.

Great pub for a quick bite and a pint. Beer selection is good and tasted fresh. The service from the staff was very nice.

It was amazing customer service, all the staff was very welcoming and the pizzas were top notch, would 100% recommend. Great for families in the beer garden and amazing for over 18s in the pool area.

What’s lovely traditional family pub. Great staff, very accommodating. Sports bar with strictly no kids policy and a great family bar and big garden.

Only go to this pub if you’re a cliquey local. The staff hate new customers and go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome. Staff were immature and their behaviour was intimidating- one of the worst experiences I have ever had! To put our experience in perspective we were a group of 10 with a baby on a sunny afternoon when the pub was quiet and were treated like hooligans. Will not be supporting this local pub in future after this awful experience.

We stayed in our motorhome here overnight and the pub was lovely. We had really tasty pizzas and a couple of drinks. The owners of the pub were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

A proper pub serving proper food . We had the Sunday roast all home made and delicious. Not an Aunt Bessie roast in sight 😀 Caters for children too. The host was friendly and welcoming and full compliments to the chef , as they say. Well done and thankyou. Will definitely be back

My girlfriend and I visited the Crown to try the pizza and I can honestly say it's the best I've had for at least 3 years, highly recommended.

Quick delivery. Delicious food. 2 pizzas, three chips and onion rings between four of us - got half a pizza left for lunch tomorrow. Great value. Will definitely order again.

I have just had the most amazing steak I have had in a long time!! I don’t know why I am surprised as every meal I have had here has been absolutely brilliant.

We had a party for my dad’s 80th birthday in a private room in the Crown pub. The landlady and landlord couldn’t have been more helpful. Food was good value and lots of it. They put a tea and coffee machine in the room so people could use it for free. 2 staff were just serving our party so there were no delays at the bar. Exactly what we wanted

What an awful shame that the lady owner has no customer service skills. So very rude in fact we was going to walk out. Was it not for the wonderful young girl behind the bar and serving our food. Beggars belief that people would go in there to be spoken to in the aggressive and totally uncalled for manor. Her husband was quite chatty and seemed quite nice. She really shouldn’t be running a pub as she has such an awful personality. I spoke to one of the regular drinkers and he said she was always like it. So sad as it’s a lovely pub and could be such a nice place to eat. Definitely will not be going back. But with her attitude she will probably say she doesn’t care.

Last minute decision to meet up with family for dinner, my mum rang ahead and asked if they could cater for a table of 8. They said no problem. Arrived ordered drinks from friendly bar staff and sat and waited for menus, my mum went off to find menus, then staff arrived with them, after about 5 minutes of looking at the menus a women arrived (who we found out was the owner) and said “You need to order now”!!! I was quite taken back by her tone and thought she was joking at first.. We started ordering, I ordered chilli and said could I have a little bit of rice and a couple of chips.. She said No!! You order rice or chips!! She then proceeded to ask the others with such an aggressive tone... She then walked away, no thank you nothing.. I was ready to walk out, if it wasn’t for my starving husband who had worked since 4:30am and my two year old who was hungry too...I feel if she didn’t want to cater for us, why allow us to book the table, a simple no sorry we don’t have a table would of been fine and we would of gone else where..I begrudge giving someone my hard earned money, to be spoken to like that, they only saving grace, was the service from the bar staff, who clearly know what their boss is like and couldn’t apologise more. The food was nice, we was expecting it to be thrown at us, but it was the bar staff who served it... My husbands and my brother in laws steak were cold... Didn’t want to complain, because god knows what reaction we would of got..I personally wouldn’t be returning...A note to the owner, if you really hate your job that much, why are you doing it???? Also if you don’t want to cater, don’t!! Say your fully booked, it’s as simple as that...

Great pub, lovely friendly staff, Amazing food and always great Ales. Seen some fantastic bands there as well.

I had the pleasure to pop into this place at the weekend and I had a great evening the locals were all very friendly and made me feel very welcome. Most enjoyable night with good music. The bar staff were very good and you didn't have to wait at all to be served this despite the place being very busy.

average food, average 'old' pub, never been before and won't rush back. Not many people in, those that were in other from us were obviously workman using workmans language, not really what you need to hear when you are sitting down to lunch with you partner. Not the pubs fault, but it is what it is.

Stopped here for lunch after a long drive. Very welcoming staff. Good range of real ales - mentioned in Good Beer Guide. Excellent lunchtime menu catering for most tastes. Speedy service.

Good family pub, friendly atmosphere, reasonable food selection, good prices. All ages welcome. Dogs allowed in bar(on lead).

We live fairly close to the crown and go semi regularly. We have been to many pubs in the surrounding area and some of those pubs may look nicer and be more fancy but the crown always have nice friendly staff and a good selection of real ale which changes often so if you are an ale drinker like me you will enjoy it.

Went here with friends. Nice selection of menu items. Great friendly service. We’ll be back. The baked Camembert and the lemon cheesecake are both recommended

Just had a lovely meal with my son and his girlfriend at The Crown. Lovely home cooked pub food at very reasonable prices. Staff were very helpful and chatty, atmosphere was good(I like the fact that the dining area is separate to the main bar). I have visited here many times to eat and have yet to be disappointed!

We had Sunday lunch here as a family and enjoyed the meal very much. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only suggestion would be to maybe introduce a couple of child- friendly starters like garlic bread for example.

What a fabulous evening listening to the Authentics you have really found a great crowd pleaser more more more is what the audience shouted and indeed they wanted more. Thank you for a great evening I can't wait until the next one.

Estuve con un grupo de amigos en el camino a cerca de Woburn bosque. Centerparcs Personal amable, muy acogedor y servicial. El pub no parece ser mucho como muchos hoy en día cadena así es muy tradicional en su estilo y enfoque. El vegetariano en nuestro grupo estaba muy satisfecho y 3 de nosotros tuvimos la corona burger que era muy agradable con una ensalada fresca. el pollo burger dejaba mucho que desear.

Mi comentario es muy mucho de su despliegue de fuegos artificiales de la noche. Sin embargo, hemos estado aquí antes para cenar y nos lo pasamos de maravilla, así que sin duda lo recomiendo para comida de pub.

Recomiendo este pub. Escondido en Flitwick. Pero bien vale la pena visitar. La comida era realmente buena, abundante y muy bien cocinado. Yo tenía un bistec y Carne sobresaliente fue quiero probar y visita nocturna ya que estoy dijo que es divertido. . . Sin duda alguna volveré

Tenía una gran noche. La primera vez que hemos comido aquí. La comida era deliciosa y el servicio fue rápido. El personal era muy amable y educado. Que nos registramos en para asegurarse de que estaban contentos con la comida. El ambiente era muy agradable y aunque era una banda en vivo aún podíamos comer apenas y con ruido. Hay mucho espacio para moverse. En general, un pub local. Es mi misión asadas al lado.

Booked this place for a family meal thinking it was a nice resturant/ gastro type pub and its far from it. Staff weren't particularly nice or polite and the food was edible but nothing to write home about. It wasn't a nice atmosphere and more of a drinking pub for locals than a place you would go to enjoy a nice meal with family. Bit too much 'snow' floating round for my liking! I'm not particularly stuck up or snobbish but I wouldn't step foot in this place again.

Excellent food and very friendly staff. Have been eating here regularly for a couple of years and have never been let down. I would highly recommend.

Best pub in Flitwick. Ive always held The Crown close to my heart.. now that its been refurbed and has a wonderful family in charge the building has a heart. Great food at reasonable prices and much effort is put into entertaining us with live bands and theme nights.. well worth a visit :-)

Always a warm welcome and the food is fantastic must recommend the homemade pie and fruit crumble. I have been many times to the crown and never been disappointed. Large sunny garden and its even dog friendly.

Plenty of parking, lovely meals and friendly staff make this a very good place to visit. Easy access for wheelchairs and prams and has a large garden.

4 of us visited The Crown last night and found it to be amazing! The atmosphere was bright, happy and very welcoming. The food was bought out very promptly and tasted great! I would highly recommend!

We have now eaten here 3 times and every tine the food is excellent. Real home cooked food. Large portions, real mash, lovely veg. Puddings all home made. Owners are friendly and chatty. Will be rating there again for sure

Had a great night out. Lovely big pub and wonderful garden. Had a beer garden as well and was really nice atmosphere. Decent food as well and local bands play.

Seven of us visited The Crown for the first time today 4th March. The staff were friendly,and helpful. The service was prompt and the food from a quite varied and reasonably priced menu was delicious. We were impressed by the 'home made' food which looked really appetising. Crown is my local pub and I would certainly happily recommend going along for a beer but to be honest I wouldn't bother with the food. There is a lot better bar food local. It reminds me of the kind of food quality that Wetherspoons pubs knock out if you like that kind of thing. Not for me. Definitely go for a pint though!

Eight people, eight different meals. All excellent and served with a smile. And the real ale was perfect. Apparently it's totally family run - and that concern showed through. Highly recommended - and it's rare for me to be so kind.

Usual pub food but served up at a reasonable price and by friendly staff. There is a good selection of beers which are kept well. Overall, good value for money.

Lunched at the Crown recently with friends and we all enjoyed what was our first visit. Good choice on menu - food when served was hot - fresh vegetables were served, which one does not get in a many other places - service was efficient and friendly. We all considered what we got was value for money and would certainly visit again

Had Sunday lunch with another couple, we all said afterwards the good was of high quality and extremely good value. I had the spiced squash soup, roast beef and chocolate cheesecake with cream. Soup and cheesecake were clearly homemade. My only problem was the main course could have been hotter but was not a major problem. The staff were very helpful and personable. Highly recommended.

Food is advertised as available from 12-4 on a Sunday. We didn't realise that only roast is on offer on Sunday which would have been fine if it had all been available. On the menu was a choice of chicken or beef or cauliflower cheese for the vegetarian option. We arrived at 2pm. There were 6 of us. Four of us chose chicken, 1 beef and I vegetarian. Unfortunately the veg option wasn't available and only three chicken were left. The food was ok but the service wasn't particularly friendly until the young lady who had been serving us left at 3pm and then a much more friendly man took over. We will try again sometime but will go on a day other than Sunday and try the rest of the menu.

I have only been for a lunch time meals. The staff are always friendly and give good service. As a vegetarian the macaroni cheese is very tasty.

we came across the crown by accident , a friend told us about it and decided to pop down .well nice pub, nice and friendly staff , pool darts ping pong , kids play area , huge garden , you missed the beer/cider fest it was brilliant . live music most weekends , guest beers , home cooked food with large portions , not always great but 7/10 . although i am fussy lol .we go regularly .its well worth a vist , best pub in flitwick .... do not go to the bumble bee unless you want bad service, bad food and the atmosphire. sorry bee . .

Had a family Sunday lunch. The food was all home made/home cooked and the portions were extremely generous and very tasty. We had a sweet each as well and these were lovely and, again, generous portions. Would definitely recommend.

this is a really friendly family run pub that always serves up delicious home cooked food at great prices, have eaten here a few times as a family and several times with the girls cant fault it will definitely return

I came here on a Tuesday evening and I would happily come back the menu isn't massive but it was cooked perfectly and very affordable and very friendly staff very enjoyable exsperience and highly recommended

Great food at great prices and fantastic customer service. Staff are lovely and can highly recommend the sunday lunches and pudding after is a must. Regular band nights are definitely worth a visit too. Get behind this place Flitwick, it's not somewhere we want to lose in a hurry!!!

Visited the Crown for a quick family meal, rather than cook for Six. Had a very pleasant surprise with excellent food, good service an friendly staff. We all had different meals and everyone of us loved the food. A definite return visit will be taking place very soon. Did not realise that such good food at sensible prices is available in Flitwick until now!

We met up here with a group of friends for a small reunion. We were shown the Sunday menu (roasts only) and when I asked if they also did the normal menu, we were told a shade aggressively that only roasts were available, and that this would have been made clear to us on the phone when we booked. (It hadn't been, nor is it very clear from the menu on the website. This could well have been our fault for not reading the menu correctly, but the attitude of the staff was rather unfriendly.)The food was very average. The roasts were on the small side, and the yorkshire puddings weren't very nice at all. The vegetarian version of the Sunday dinner was the vegetables alone, with cauliflower cheese (which, when it came, was simply a piece of cauliflower with a very small amount of melted cheese on top). The desserts were better. Overall, I don't think we'd go back there again.

Been here a few times now. Food is well priced, hot and tasty. Staff cannot do enough for my family - I have a son who is disabled and wheelchair bound. Access to the restaurant is great and they go the extra distance for us and we are made to feel welcome. My wish list - that the menu was a little bit more extensive but there is enough choice to make me come back again and again. We recently visited on Mothers Day when they were busy and they made sure we had room and food was lovely and service not compromised. Thanks Crown!!

My daughter treated me out to a roast dinner at The Crown in Flitwick and the food was gorgeous. The portions were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. Max, Dan, Zenia and Dave (...and Ozzy!) make everyone feel welcome and have done so much with the place considering they have only been there a year. Definitely the best pub in Flitwick :)

Visited this pub twice recently, first time food was good, well cooked and a good selection, service was rather rushed but we had booked a table about 1/2 hour before the end of service so this was acceptable. Decided to try again before christmas. had to have the christmas menu and pre order our choices, don't really like doing this but ok its christmas so wunderstand why. Whilst there other customers were ordering from the regular menu which is what we wanted to do, told this was an error ?Service was rushed again and we obviously we were not late this time. Ordered another bottle of wine only to be told just as we had sat back down at the table that they close at 3 and we can take our wine with us, not good service at all we were all very dissaponted.

The food was amply, tasty and very reasonably priced. The staff had taken the trouble to decorate for Halloween. The service was friendly. Will visit again, it's ideal for a quick bite to eat, very much a local local. Thanks.
