Only came in for a quick glass of wine. Been to most of the bars around the area but first time in here. Glass of large wine is over £10, I didn't ask for a premium glass just a standard wine - most expensive bar in the area - very misleading as it has the look of a basic pub but has posh bars pricing. No drinks menu with prices - would never pay that much if I'd known

Classic traditional pub, great atmosphere. The place only serves Samuel smith beer on tap, which are all very good, especially the Taddy Lager. The place is severely short staffed, on a Friday night around 6pm only one bartender, doing double duty taking food orders and serving food. The bar packed (people just drinking not ordering food) and the poor guy was running around like crazy. The food was overall very good, especially the burger and meat pie. That said it took around 50 minutes for the first 3 mains to arrive and then another 10 minutes for my burger to arrive (at which everyone had finished eating), so we skipped dessert as I was too afraid it would be too long. The table next to us waited an hour and waited over an hour for their food and wanted to leave and get their money back. Indoor and outdoor seating.

I'm sorry but reading the reviews we had very good expectations and we went there for lunch and I was disappointed Excessive air conditioning, we had to put on our jackets for lunch. The very inattentive waiter, we had to ask him to bring us the cutlery, then he only brought water for one, not for all... The services are very neglected, very dark, the water from the cisterns is not working, not very clean. The food was not bad but nothing out of the world. The tomato salad with burrata, for example, was watered down.

Hidden little gem of a pub! The barman was friendly and actually offered to give us tasters of the different lagers (they were lagers so all tasted of nothing of course 😂), this is almost unheard of in central London! The drinks are reasonably priced a (it’s a Sam smiths pub) and the place was quiet and good for a sit down chat, with no music or sports on the telly. If you want to get away from the madding crowd in central you could do a lot worse than this boozer!

The barman acted like he didn't want to be there and made me feel like a nuisance. The inside of the pub was empty with a sign saying We Are a Digital Detox Pub. Yes, I agree face to face communication is imperative but the notice made you feel uncomfortable. I paid £17.80 for a pint of unheard of lager and a pinot. Fortunately, it was a lovely day so we managed to sit outside and enjoy. I will not revisit.

Poor service - the guy behind the bar was a miserable sod and was clearly not wanting to be there. Tried to serve us a coke with a half pint glass full of ice - asked to remove some ice and he started being heavy handed with everything and practically threw my change at me. Definitely wouldn't visit here again! Also the whole idea of the non digital environment doesn't work Sam Smith...fair enough with phones but cash payments, really? It's 2024, not 1924!!!

Awful service and atrocious food. Not only did the cost of £16.50 for a burger seem overpriced...but it was also burnt and in a stale soggy bun! When I took the food back to complain, I was met with the most obnoxious and juvenile behaviour from the bar staff, who said that if they refunded me, it would come out of their wages. If you want to ruin your evening; go here for dinner. Otherwise, stay well away and find somewhere else.

Didn't try any food as the visit was quite fleeting, but the menu looked varied and catered to a fair few dietary requirements. Drinks were priced on par with the area, but I liked that it was a brewery I personally wasn't that aware of. Proper old school pub decor, plenty of spaces to sit and obviously popular. Friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere that appeared to be popular with tourists and locals alike.

Meh. Nowhere cosy in this pub. The front door and back door were wide open, so with the breeze, and the furnishing, the whole place felt like a corridor. The upstairs did look better, but was reserved for food only. I did sit in the back yard (which was a cornered section of the pavement, sadly shadowed by the massive development opposite), to look for another pub.

“The Crown” Covent Garden Have abusive and Rude management They verbally abuse staff! They fire you if you complain or engage in an argument. Coming from kitchen staff who has been fired over standing my ground in a argument. I was accused of putting gerkin/pickle on a club sandwich which was a mistake and I apologised however that wasn’t enough after carrying on insulting and verbally attacking me over how many times Iv made this dish how can I make mistakes I had enough and in the same tone of voice I was being spoken to said that’s enough I said sorry you want to fire me or get over it and move on I was told to leave. After 3 months of dedicated work I was fired over a slice of gerkin on a sandwich and standing my ground in a verbal attack. Samuel and Smiths Managers STEAL ALL tips I have not received any tips in the kitchen besides from 1 occasion when a new staff member was working so I know they stealing the tips. They don’t give staff food but treat the kitchen like their personal kitchen using and eating as they wish. Overall disgusted as a ex employee I will never recommend this pub to anyone.

We used to love this pub. Good beer at good prices and a pleasant environment from the buzz outside. Sadly prices have now soared. A sign of the times perhaps, however, the biggest issue is the service and time warp experience. The lone, young lady was surly, monosyllabic and lacking in any enthusiasm for her job. A 'no mobile phones or laptops allowed' greets you on a small blackboard. Next to a 'No service' sign at the far end of the bar... Their right there! The furniture and decor hasn't been updated in years. There's rustic and then just lack of investment or care. I think it's time Sam Smiths had an update because the product is good, but everything else pretty miserable. A great shame. People will bare price hikes, but give them a reason to return.

We had a really bad experience at the Hansom restaurant today. We went to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday and had booked afternoon tea. We were 4 adults and 2 small children so made a reservation for 6. My husband is diabetic so can't have cakes. When we arrived we were told by the front of house lady that we HAD to order 4 afternoon teas because the reservation was made for 4 adults and the tea was preordered the day before. It felt very condesending and we felt talked down to. If that indeed is the policy, it was not made clear in the reservation and I was made to believe I was in the wrong and trying to weasel out of an agreement. Now we've been to afternoon tea at plenty of different hotels including the Ritz and Dorchester and have never been told that. It felt really embarrassing and not at all pleasant. This staff member handled this situation extremely poorly. I wanted to leave at that point and was thorougly embarrased for my mum who we wanted to have a good time for her birthday. The front of house person was rude and very aggressive when she told us that and stormed off to talk to her manager only to come back to tell us that they were OK to let us order 2 afternoon teas and 2 courses of their normal menu for the other party which we agreed to but it did really dampen the mood and from then on it was just a sh@tshow. It took them probably 45 minutes from arriving to take our order. We finally received 2 plates of sandwiches and food for the children. We had ordered chicken and ice cream. They brought the chicken and left the ice cream sitting out until the kids were finished with their main course so the ice cream was liquid. The main courses arrived, but no cakes. The steak was also over peppered unfortunately. We spilled water but no one cleaned it up or offered a new napkin. Plates weren't cleared, we had to call waiters over to ask for small plates to eat the sandwiches from. 2 hours in there still wasn't any sight of any scones or cakes. By that point my kids were super tired and fed up and frankly we just wanted to go home. I complained to the same lady (front of house) and got told it was standard practice to leave a decent amount of time between courses. I don't think 2 hours is reasonable to wait for scones and cakes! This certainly did not happen the last time I went here for afternoon tea. I told her that we actually just wanted to go home and nobody was in the mood for cakes anymore, that we really weren't happy and frankly super disappointed with the service. She was snide, unapologetic and just kept saying let me check. Finally her manager came over and offered us a reduction in the bill and packaged up the cakes to go. It was a thoroughly underwhelming experience where no proper afternoon tea was had. I had let them know in the reservation that it was for a big birthday, but nothing was done for my mum to make it special. It also didn't feel particularly child friendly and welcoming to a family with 2 young children. The only saving grace was that we were all together, but the day was throughly ruined by the experience. Very very shoddy! Cannot recommend. Overpriced and awful service!
