A perfect neighbourhood pub that has original etched victorian glass, along with a perfect pint of guinness, but unfortunately no longer accepts cash.

We went here after a really disappointing experience at The Albion and, fortunately, it was the best decision. This pub is a real English pub. Nothing pretentious. Exactly what we were looking for. The food was really good! We ordered a Sunday roast and triple fried fries. 10/10 They have a huuuuuge variety of tap beers! Really really good although a little bit expensive.£7 for a pint. The service was great tho! People were very kind and attentive. There was a very disgusting smell inside the pub that made us hesitate a lot if entering or not 😥

Nice pub in Covent garden , less busy than I thought when I visited on a Saturday evening. You can watch sports without the experience being overwhelming for a person who just wants to enjoy their beer. Good selection of beers a plus

When we come to the door of the pub we understand before enter the pub this place is different right place for us. ☺️ If you want to go a place that doesn’t so crowded and cool this is the right place especially weekdays. Because they said weekends mostly busy. I like the ambiance and beers :) Highly recommended.

Had the roast lamb. Incredibly chewy and salty. When i mentioned it at the end - as no one came to ask if it was ok before then - they said it had only been on the menu for a week. Think i had reheated leftovers. The veg were fine though. Won’t be back

Lovely pub, with cosy atmosphere. The tables are positioned around the central bar which ensures that it is not too noisy. The staff were friendly and accommodated our party of 9 really well. We were slightly underwhelmed by the roast, especially the potatoes but wasn't bad. Would visit again for service and atmosphere alone.

Our office Xmas bash in the bar was great, a standup buffet soo much better atmosphere than a sit-down do.

2 for 2 on the Cheeseburger front at The Crown in Islington. Fast becoming my favourite Tuesday evening pub for a lovely pint or two, great conversation and hearty food. Will have the Pie and mash next time.

The food wasn’t the greatest I asked for some chips but was told they only do the Sunday menu.

We had lunch on Sunday for the first time there just have to say lovely place very cozy pub my roast turkey was plate really good and big portions great beer the staff really friendly i’ll be back

A delightful pub with more engraved glass than you can throw a stone at. Late Victorian corner street pub with a high ceiling and a light and airy feel to it. There is a great range of both keg and cask beers on offer. The people behind the bar are a cheery bunch offering great customer service. Food is flying out from the kitchen at an impressive rate leading to many contented faces around the tables. Super place to visit. The extra photos were just to recognize the "ghost sign" for the ex chemist up the road.

We had a really pleasant Sunday lunch at The Crown recently. It was our first visit. The dining area is very welcoming with high ceilings and lots of light. The food was tasty and hearty - what we were looking for. It seemed to be relatively good value compared to other London gastropubs we have visited recently. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and had a great attitude.

5 of us attended for Sunday lunch as recommended by a friend. Nice decor, traditional pub. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable on their beers offered. The food however was unremarkable in presentation, with lukewarm vegetables and roast potatoes that weren’t roasted in appearance and cold. Two plates were sent back but two others remained on the table, unquestioned by waiting staff - there was little by way of an apology. Not impressed, feeling dissatisfied over quality and value for money.

Great steak and ale pie with a crust that is flaky and not dry. The filling was generous and flavourful. The mash that accompanied it was creamy and the gravy was just right. The battered fish was crispy with a light batter on the outside with moist flesh on the inside. The chips were are top notch as well. The waiter were patient enough to explain the kind of beers and cocktails they offer when we were unfamiliar.

This place has gone downhill and won’t re-visit. The Sunday roast was very average at best. No Yorkshire puddings for a roast and no mustard or horse radish ! Chewy meat and anaemic chicken. You need to up the anti if you want to survive

The staff were really friendly, the venue wasn't overcrowded and located in a cute and peaceful Neighborhood. Food was great and service to match.

Wonderful Victorian Fullers pub in a residential area. Went with friends on a Monday evening for a meal and drinks. 2 had sea bream and 2 had the steak ale pie, slightly pricey. Both were excellent, washed down with fantastic pints of Seafarers ale from the Gales brewery. Bottle of Chardonnay was nice and so were the glasses of Glenfiddich. In a area of excellent pubs, this one was superb. We will return.

The food is always spot on, the portions are generous, steaks always succulent and flavourful, the schnitzel is cooked to perfection! A friendly place to visit where your pooch is welcome and your kids too! Compliments to the chefs

Food and vibe were both good. The service was chaotic, really wasn’t clear if it was table service or bar service. Not that busy, but the waiter made it feel super busy and stressful by running around at a million miles per hour with a real sweat on.

Lovely pub, great food. Combines a traditional pub atmosphere with top notch food. Drink here, eat here, you won't be dissapointed.

Had a Sunday roast here. The veg, potatoes, Yorkshire was all nice. The meat was a little bit bland, but still not bad. The man serving us was very pleasant and very attentive. Good price for the meal too. Overall we enjoyed our meals and we would go back again. 8/10 :)

I love this place. I went here during the weekday, and it wasn’t so crowded. The food was excellent, and the staffs were super friendly and cool. I’d come back in the future.

What’s happened to this pub massively overpriced and the most depressing looking crispy squid I’ve had . Shame I love this pub but needs improving

The pub is located in a lovely, peaceful neighbourhood. It rarely gets super busy. It's the perfect place to go for some quiet and have a good beer and delicious food away from the Islington high street crowd. Staff and the service was impeccable. Fish and chips was delicious, a bit pricey in my opinion but the quantities were reasonable. Definitely recommended!

A nice little find in a quiet area of Angel. Great pub with a good menu and excellent food. Really enjoyed dining here and the service from Matt was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Traditional pub with Fabulous interior and Fillers beer

Probably the most anaemic potatoes I’ve ever had. Generally not a good roast

Posh, very pricey pub. £7.10 for Peroni - a very ordinary lager which is under £6 in pubs 5 mins walk away - typical rip-off Fullers. Staff were friendly, but being charged before pouring the drinks was a bit odd. EDIT: Thanks for the reply Ollie. But pints costing over £7 are not happening in every pub in the area..

This is genuinely one of my favourite pubs in London. The food is great, the staff are nothing short of lovely. The reason I’ve put 4 stars is genuinely only due to the price of beer. I’d expect to pay £6.70 for a pint of craft beer, but not for a pint of Guinness.

Googled Eateries in Islington, checked out the menu and the revues for The Crown and it sounded just like the place we were looking for! Travelled up from Medway for the final night of the London International Ska Festival at the Assembly Rooms so wanted a good meal in us before we started drinking. Staff were really friendly, Sun was shining ( yes, I know The Crown isn't responsible for that) so we eat out in the garden, the Roast Pork was wonderful, couldn't fault it! Lovely Pub, Lovely People, Lovely food, and the beer ain't bad either! 10/10

Classic pub interior which is nice, but catering for the Islington set 'locals' - £21 for roast beef dinner and £5.60 for London Pride (2023) move this into 'gastropub' territory IMO, shame as it would make a great wet pub.

The Crown is one of those places that just feels good to be in. It's got that classic English pub vibe with lots of wood and low lighting, which gives it a cosy and intimate feel. The atmosphere is chill, and it's perfect for hanging out with friends or just relaxing with a pint. I especially liked the decor - it's got a rustic charm that feels like you've stepped back in time. All in all, a great spot to unwind and enjoy a drink.

No soup, cheese plate dishes and salads outrageously small and bad value. Good atmosphere if the music is kept low.

Lovely place and lovely atmosphere with a really good roast! Especially liked the plant based roast as not many places do the full roast plant based with all the trimmings. Zoe was very kind and attentive and overall had a great time!

Went for a roast on New Year’s Day, two great roasts with all the trimmings and generous. Pint 🍺 ESB and a seed lip and fever tree. Lovely pub, it will become a staple Sunday roast pub! They also have a (PB) crumble……but no room at the inn

It was just ok. Don't have much by way of hot drinks. And had no Bailey's.

Ordered from the Christmas menu with a big group of friends and was bitterly disappointed with the main course. It was not a main meal, but instead a thin piece of burn pastry with cold burnt kale and cold chunks of pumpkin on top. I finished it in about 5 bites… Outrageous for the cost! All my meat eating friends got big luxurious looking meals, but us vegetarians were shown no respect and given something you could buy from the reduced section of Iceland. Do they think vegetarians don’t like flavour, want value for their money or to feel full after a meal out? I would say to steer clear if you are a vegetarian or have veggies in your party. They at least have us a bottle of wine though, and one of the veggies in our party got all the courses for free. So at least that’s something. But I don’t think the chef is good enough to make vegetarian meals.

A pub I've somehow never even laid eyes upon despite living in the area for the best part of 15 years. Had an good roast today, and the staff were great. My only reservation is that I'd like a slightly more interesting beer selection, but it is a Fuller's. Will try to remember to come back!

We decided to go for a last minute family Sunday roast. They accommodated us easily which was a relief. Very friendly staff but it's a shame that nobody mentioned that they don't take cash! A bit embarrassing to be told right at the point of paying and not on the menu or website!

Decent enough pub, roast dinner was pretty unimpressive, but they had Soundwave on draught. Service was very friendly, particularly those serving at the table. And there is a nice little outdoor area. Caught in two minds between 3 and 4 stars, but the roast disappointed enough to make it 3.

Very cold looking place, miserable barman, Card only payment, which I totally hate!. And like most pubs today, very expensive. R. I. P. The pub industry.

Really enjoyed my Sunday evening dinner with my family. My server (Daniela) was welcoming and very pleasant. I have the impression that almost anything you order on their menu will be tasty. I find the atmosphere nice and relaxed. You can’t go wrong with this place.

What an outstanding meal this was. We shared a crab on toast starter which was, divine. Fresh, herby and really good texture. I’m actually determined to go back to the pub just so I can have this starter again.The Sunday roast was amazing. Quality beef, good Yorkshire, lush gravy and a good amount of veg. I will be returning again. Staff very friendly and nice cosy atmosphere and quality environment.

The Crown is one of our absolute favorite pubs.you need to stop by if you're ever in Islington. It's bright and airy with the dark wood and decorative glass of a traditional pub. Very comfy and well staffed I highly recommend a London Pride and a fish and chips if you're feeling traditional. Sunday Roast is also very good - be sure to make a reservation so you don't miss out! Check out the rotating seasonal menu for something new.
