I used to love this pub - our local - it has really well priced food, a great 80s/90s play list and lots of loyal regulars. However, and I don't know why, they have started having the television on all the time, with subtitles, for shows like Casualty and Strictly - but they never have any sport. It's really distracting and annoying and noone actually watches it. If people wanted to watch Casualty they would stay at home. I have stopped going because it is so annoying. It's like going to someone's house when they have an enormous TV on in the middle of the room and don't turn it off and they just sit there looking at it

Visited with colleagues for a nice time. It is easy to locate, few minutes walk from Archway station, cozy place, very accommodating. Food portions were large and taste good, they got fun employees. Atmosphere was cool, if looking for a place to whine down and just chill, this is it. Overall, we had a good time! Nice pub.

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. The service was disappointing as one of the staff members was quite rude to me. I only stayed for a beer and decided not to try the food because of the situation. Hopefully, they can improve their service in the future.

Went here for a meal and a few drinks for my birthday. The food was real good, we are already planning on going back for a Sunday roast very soon. We sat outside in the rear garden, which is a very nice seating area, with music and the sun was shining which makes everything better. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Only gave fits a one star because of. The drinks Although a bit more higher priced. Reason for not giving any more stars. Irish female blondes, owner managers, whatever she is. Which is what she is very rude stuck up. Money grabbing. Back stabbing. Person, she must be the owner because no one would ever be so dumb to employ a person like that. Stay away from this pub if you're looking for. Warm welcome friendly atmosphere. If you want to be bullied and miserable, that would be the greatest place If you wanna get bullied Listen to. gossip about other staff the so called people who don't spend money and sit down there with one Drink for time.

OK pub but disappointed with 2 major things. 1. All real ales were off so lagers or Guiness were only draught options. 2. Barman doesn't understand about serving a pint. Especially with current news stories about this, he moaned whe I asked him to top it up. Serving a pint with half to 3 quarters of a head is not acceptable. Should be trained better. Apart from that the pub was ok,but probably wont visit again.

This is my local pub and have been often. Used to go to the Bingo on Thursday nights. I popped in on mother day and the owner was a bit intense, fussing over us a bit too much. It was the first time I seen her in there. I wrote a review saying not sure the owner was coping with it being busy. I went back on Good Friday and the owner was upstairs, seen us sitting down and came down and starting scolding me in front of my daughter about my review. She didn't apologise, but stood over us, corrected me and she isn't a manager, but the owner and her name is above the door. My daughter was like look, your obviously upset, we've just bought a drink so just give us a refund and we'll leave. The owner refused so we had to leave. The pub is alright when she isn't there. She's ruined it.

Been in this pub before as its local. went again on Sunday as it was mother's day and the little blond lady was either not coping because it was busy or was on something she shouldnt have been. I sat down on a stool and she came straight over to me with tissues on the floor wiping the floor with her foot while circling around me again and again telling me it is Mother's Day today (she told me the day 4 times). She was very close to me, felt pretty uncomfortable tbh. She Then took my daughters umbrella that was leaning against the table and threw it towards the entrance. I picked the umbrella back up and put it back. Not sure why she chose me when it was busy in there. Hurried to finish my drink before she came back again to tell me what day it was again!! Very strange woman

This is one of our favourite bars in Archway. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. I've spent many an afternoon/evening there with a few drinks watching the world go by. The food is traditional pub grub, but you get a great selection to choose from. Sunday lunch is perfect. Amazing value for money and so much food. Food is always amazing when we go - on this occasion it was great but….. There is a sign outside clearly stating 2 for 1 pizzas on a Monday (that’s why we went) but we were told that the 2 for 1 deal wasn’t on because “there was a new chef” - surely doing extra pizzas would give them practice ?

My team and I decided to have a chat and a drink at this pub managing a pub myself for the past 3 years and prior working in a pub I have learnt from my mistakes so when I saw the female manageress using negative attitude towards a female that enter the premises to use their bathroom and found every excuse to watch over this woman while pretending to go about her business was very uncomfortable to see . Why judge people even if they come into use the bathroom as one day they might become your customer. Her attitude towards this female was atrocious ,considering her responsibility and position . if she work for me I would fire her straight away . The food in this place is very good... when you actually get to taste it. We went once and loved it. Unfortunately, the general service offering is very poor. We have attempted to visit several times after, but we have not served us due to the following reasons: 1. They closed the kitchen early. 2. We went earlier, then they had not opened the kitchen that day. 3. We went on a different day and they couldn't serve us as they were fully booked. 4. We booked and they called us an hour earlier to let us know that they ran out of food. I understand that you cannot host more people than the venue allows and perhaps not to open the kitchen until late, but I really cannot understand how a place that serves food for living, chooses to do it inconsistently and in smaller quantities than required. There's a big administration problem here.

Want for a last minute Sunday lunch, booked 45 mins ahead and they are able to fit me in! The pub itself is extremely cool inside! There was a bit of a wait for food, but they were full and I’m sure lots of orders for the toast! The roast itself cost £17, which is on the pricier side so my expectation were high. The roast was Okay! The Yorkshire pudding was soft instead of being crispy which was a huge shame as it’s my favourite part of a roast! The vegetables were cooked nicely and roast potatoes were tasty however again not crispy at all, kind of soft. Let’s talk about the pork belly… HUGE portion! Was very happy when my plate arrived. I did find that as it was so big, it was quite dry other than the very middle (which takes a while to get too as very big piece of pork belly!). The gravy was also very good. I was looking forward to the cauliflower cheese that came with the roast however my plate had around a teaspoon of cauliflower cheese (looked like they had just scraped the scraps out of the bottom of the tray). I first though that maybe they were running out, until my friends plate came with a nice portion of cauliflower cheese (with actual pieces of cauliflower) Overall a good roast, on the pricey side but a decent bit of scran! Unsure if I would return again.

We are from Florida, I took my wife here for her birthday. Food was absolutely amazing, we split the chateaubriand steak, which was over 30oz. Try the garlic corn on the cobb as a good side to a main dish. For desert we had chocolate cake and apple pie. Staff was very helpful and attentive. Menu is modern with a great selection of small plates. Location is convenient to Kings Cross station. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good steak and casual atmosphere.

We were really looking forward to our visit to The Castle on our recent London trip. However it fell far short of our expectations sadly. The atmosphere was lively, if rather too noisy overall. Our food order was taken fairly speedily and the wait was not too long but the food was very disappointing. We both chose fish and chips. The dish came to table very hot, which is something I always appreciate-(not always the case). However, although the chips were very nice, the fish batter was extremely overcooked and in parts hard and inedible. The mushy peas were not mushy but hard still and very dry and totally inedible. We did not receive a visit to our table to ask if the food was okay at any point and as the place was soo busy it was difficult to pin the 2 waiters down. Nobody came near us until we had finished eating what we could. At that point we mentioned the inedible peas and the reason for the excessive fish food waste and our waiter explained the peas were marrowfat and that is what happens - (if not prepared&cooked properly we said!) and he gave a cursory apology. We still received a full bill for our meals and we left very dissatisfied. Our overall feeling was that The Castle is overstretching itself as a food destination. It is really just a busy pub that provides food which is not the best. The chef looked frazzled and the table staff were few and far too stretched to give a proper service. Something needs to change. I dont like to give bad reviews but on this occasion I felt it necessary.

We dropped in for a drink hearing the loud music from the neighborhoods. The atmosphere is electric evening onwards. Gives you a proper British pub feel. Located right at the crossroad across Exmouth Market. Seemed to be quite old but couldn't find out how old. We had a large glass of beer at 6.8 pounds and some great roasted peanuts for 3 pounds along with a good crispy chicken with Korean sauce at 9 pounds. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff were nice.
