Amazing as usual. Definitely try the courgette fritters, it’s the tastiest way of cooking courgette with lots of protein, chimichuri, yoghurt, seeds, avacado, rocket and nuts on the side. Loved it!!!!

Food is delicious, very flavourful and well made. Service is for the most part terrible and rude. I asked for a replacement, service reacted with arrogance but said they would ask the kitchen… as if they were doing me a massive favour. Got the order wrong ultimately. As someone else mentioned here, you’re treated like they’re doing you a massive favour by serving you.

Sunday is a great place if you want to try more adventurous brunch food as they are quite creative and the food quality is great. I’ve been here 4/5 times. Unfortunately today will be the last. What lets this place down is the service. If something is nice, I can usually let service slide a bit but here every step of the way has to be prompted by the customer. There was an empty table, it took around 10mins after we said hello to a waiter for someone to take action and seat us. It 15mins for our order to be taken even though we looked visibly ready almost straight away and had to call someone and say we’re ready. Then when it came to the bill we asked, the waiter did a whole load of different activities, 10 mins later she said I’ll get the bill, then still nothing until we got up and went to the counter. It’s ok if people forget but a courtesy apology goes a long way. It seems the staff have become complacent/arrogant since they know there’s always a queue. Really great concept, hope they sort out staffing issues and treat customers as customers.

Food was brilliant. They had a queue on Friday afternoon which lasted for about 15-20 min. It was a really hot day and they didn't have any fans or air conditioning. Service was very slow. They took 35 min to give us bloody Marys. Our food had also arrived by then. They did take it off the bill.

Tucked away in the heart of Barnsbury, the food here is high quality, original, and well prepared. The chai latte intense and tasty. That said, this is not a place for a quick lunch. There is often a line, service is not fast, and the main room is usually packed and loud. So try to sit outside if possible.

We’ve been here before, the food was great but service lacking. This time is our last time here. Despite no queue, and a wait to get seated, it took about 20 mins for our order to be taken - an americano and an iced tea, two Welsh rarebit one with avocado and the other bacon, and presented with cutlery. 45 minutes later we had to ask if we’d been forgotten, and they had. Unbelievable given there were three front of house staff and 4 tables with people on them. They said the waitress was taken ill so took the order again. After waiting another 20 minutes new arrivals had their drinks served and the “ill” waitress was back, we walked. A wasted morning that had a knock on effect on our day. Never again.

Hi went to Sundays with a friend for my birthday. When we sat down we immediately noticed that the staff weren’t being accommodating to anyone. People were waiting to give their order, there were dirty dishes at people’s table and most people had to get up and ask for things or just do it themself. The restaurant has so much potential and the food is good however the staff are a huge let down. There were four waitresses on duty and only one was doing their job. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy which is why we were so perplexed with the lack of attentiveness. I was very disappointed given my friend and I simply wanted a nice birthday brunch. I won’t be going to Sundays again.

Well, this is a special place. I found this little eatery while on my morning walk one fine morning in Islington with a queue of some 8-10 people waiting patiently but excitedly for their turn to be seated by the waiter. I decided to take a plunge and I am glad to have discovered this gem. The food offering is not elaborate but the 8-10 dishes that they serve on the menu are fantastic. Every dish is distinct in its own right and has myriad of flavours. Have been going back to this place every now and then. Must try when near Caledonian Road!

Not worth the wait. The service was extremely slow - It took us 30 mins to get a seat, which makes sense on a weekend. However, after placing our order pretty much immediately, we did not get all our food and drink for another 45 mins. They did end up compensating one of our drinks, but it made for an unpleasant waiting experience where we had to check on our order a few times. Meanwhile, there was a constant huge line of people outside the cafe, and they took a long time to seat people. The food itself was decent, but nothing special. We got the fried courgettes, eggs Benedict, and buttermilk pancakes. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

We arrived at 10am and, despite ordering as soon as we could, weren’t served our meals until 10:50. Lovely food but ever since the renovation they've jacked up all their prices and have started shoving tip screens in customer's faces while standing over them - on top of a service charge they include automatically in the bill. Means you're potentially paying 25% on your bill as it's quite awkward to say no when they're hovering and staring at you while holding the tip screen in your face. Greedy americanisation and hope it was worth it as they've lost a regular customer.

It's been a few years since I was last here, but very little has changed - the food is still brilliant, it's an amazing brunch spot. The service/culture is still very annoying. They made us stand outside, even though we could see empty tables, seemingly so that they could build up an aura of having people standing outside. It happened to loads of other guests while we were there - they don't acknowledge your presence unless you go in, but if you go in they immediately tell you you must wait outside. Then they take an age to show you to the table that was always there, waiting for you. The serving staff are extremely slow (possibly because they are understaffed, but there is also an air of disinterest). It takes 20 minutes to get a coffee. But the menu is solid, the prices are fairly reasonable and the food (I had pancakes, my wife had the mushrooms and spinach) is genuinely excellent. I wish the service was better, but I'll still go back, because it's a lovely brunch spot!

Have been here many times and have had better experiences in the past. However, queued for brunch on Sunday and it was absolutely not worth the 45min queue in the pouring rain. The service was absolutely appalling. The ineffeciency of the staff was unbelievable. There were 4 members of staff (plenty for the number of tables) and we watched from outside as it took 7 trips back and forth between 3 of the members of staff to clear a two person table. They looked outside and stood around day dreaming whilst 3 tables were completely empty when there was a queue of customers freezing outside. When we got seated, two tables around us had either got the wrong order or didn't receive their order at all. The table who didn't were asked by the lady if they'd got their order. They said no, could we just have the bill please. She just said OK and didn't even apologise. A small group of girls came inside and asked if they could wait inside because they were soaked wet through and could see there were tables free. They got told they should always wait outside as they hadn't finished setting up. Staff dawdled around seeing to other things and eventually came and put two menus on the table and even later came back and put a bottle of water on the table. A while after said OK you can sit now. So bizarre. They didn't even have glasses for the water and said they'd have to wait longer for those. It took us 30mins to get a coffee after ordering, the previous table got one 20mins earlier and there was a barista stood at the coffee machine the entire time. Coffee arrived after the food. The pancakes with banana are really nice (go for the half portion as better topping ratio). I had the eggs benediction, which was tasty but word of warning.... the side of halloumi for £3.50 is one small slice! The service was never great here but always felt worth it for the food. Really didn't feel worth it this time and won't be returning. Their cookbook is great... buy the cookbook and make the food at home!

I’ve been a regular since a dear friend introduced the place to me back in 2018. I swear by the courgette fritters - it’s a cornucopia of texture, form, and flavour. However I want to share a personal story last weekend - I tried some of my friend’s French toast with the salted caramel sauce and instantly my cheeks were wet with tears. It has a depth and complexity that takes me back to British seaside town fudge pantries. I am instantly back in Brighton, doing my A-Levels, first few days of winter. Unsure of who I wanted to be. A chill, and the boiling vapours of fudge. Answers abound in that sweet, treacly scent. I stepped on the cobblestone path, sure of some kind of warmth that life gives in random moments. Thank you Sunday for giving me one of my first Proustian madeleine moments - I will be back for sure.

Although the food is good (and generally worth the long wait), the service is diabolical. I generally didn't mind the waits for tables or for food to arrive but the service standards have continued to slip. Last straw was waiting outside for over 15 mins (despite tables being available) only to come inside to be acknowledged and rudely asked to go outside again (yes, the sign says wait outside to be seated but if you've been standing outside for 15 mins already with no acknowledgement while tables are available and staff are just idling about then it's reasonable to step inside to be noticed). Slow and inefficient service is bad enough, rudeness is not acceptable. There are many other places in the area that are far better value and treat their customers with respect.

You will have to queue, but it’s worth the wait. The service is outstanding, food is simply delicious and they serve great coffee. Potions are very generous. Can only recommend this place!

I ordered the "2 eggs cooked your way" for £8.00. I chose poached eggs on gluten free bread (no extra cost - thank you!) and it arrived with a cooked tomato too. It was very yummy - the eggs were cooked perfectly with a runny yolk - and the staff were super friendly. It was busy at 9:30am though, so allow yourself about 15 minutes in the queue.

Had the most delicious brunch with a friend. Very busy and you do need to queue. They messed up our order twice but it didn't matter, they were so nice about it and the dishes were amazing. Lovely coffee too. They were very kind when I left my bag behind. You might want to go on a day other than Sunday. Maybe it's also this busy on a Saturday. I would go again, I'd be prepared for the noise as it's hard surfaces everywhere. Great experience though, and cycle parking stands are right outside.

Great food, fair prices and as usual please expect a queue if you decides to sleep in or just not someone who can wake up early. Easily one of the best English Breakfast we’ve had in town. Everything else is just as awesome. Need to visit a lot more often !

Great for the locals as there are few alternatives around, else not worth the trip due to queuing time and overstretched service.

The food was nice but we waited 40 minutes for it to be served- and it’s a tiny cafe. The staff were unpleasant- especially the female part. Won’t visit again.

Very disappointed with food and service. Service was slow and when food finally arrived the sourdough toast was burnt black on one side. This was mentioned to the server whose response was that this would be fed back. Unfortunately we were now short of time so unable to ask for it to be redone.

I read the reviews and assumed everyone was just being overdramatic about bad service! There is a long queue but that’s hardly their fault. We sat down, were given menus and no one came over for about 15-20 mins. I walked inside (we were sat outside) to show my face and ask if we could order, a waitress looked at me loitering and walked the other way? Eventually we ordered, and realised that no one had told us about the specials which was really disappointing. The food came which was alright but not good enough to justify waiting SO long for everything. Hate complaining like this just frustrating when they have so many reviews about poor service and people being forgotten about, but don’t change anything. Wouldn’t come back unfort :( sorry

Food here is so good, but make sure you get there expecting a queue. It is quite popular, and reasonably priced for London. I have to say, I did not enjoy the iced chocolate as it was too sweet. The courgette fritters, and cornbread with chorizo is amazing! Food here makes me full, satisfied and happy! I will come back again and again..

One of the best brunches in London. Luckily are those kinds of places that offer generous portions. The brunch selection is very and tastes delicious. Better to go weekly otherwise the weekend could be quite busy.

I found this place listed in time magazines top 35 places for brunch in London and did as much research as possible. Needless to say there wasn’t a lot out there, they don’t have a dedicated website and there Facebook page hasn’t been updated in over a year. The trip advisor page is filled with positive reviews and an abundance of complaints about the size of the restaurant and having to queue to get in during busy periods. Let me say this, Sunday provided me with the best breakfast I have ever had. Period. It was busy on Sunday morning at 10:40am and we waited about 40-45 mins to be seated. I’m not a fan of ice tea but that was the most delicious iced tea I’ve experienced. We had the corn bread dish and split half a stack of pancake with banana and berries. The most moorish filling and fresh food we have had at a brick/breakfast place. Worth the hours drive and worth the 45 min wait by far

Ok straight to the point. Most likely you will have to wait in line from 30m to an hour (depending of course if it’s the weekend) The food is decent and the portions are good. The people working are nice but everyone can have a bad day it’s not like they are robots. Personally I would eat hear again if there is not a line. Would not wait again :)

Really great food, occasionally find *some* of the staff a bit rude/condescending. One of my friends had a bit of an issue with her order - she’s lactose intolerant and unknowingly ordered something with dairy (our fault for sure) and when we brought this up with the waitress she was not understanding at all and I didn’t appreciate the tone she spoke to my friend in - super harsh. They also gave me a regular latte instead of an oat milk one like I’d asked for (I don’t drink cows milk) which left me feeling quite ill afterwards - I asked the staff if they’d accidentally used cows milk and they said they hadn’t but when the bill came there was no extra charge for the oat milk making me again believe they had used cows milk. Another time I went with my mum and also found the staff quite rude and it me almost want to go somewhere else to have brunch. The cafe itself is small and quite cramped, nothing too fancy inside, but that being said some of the staff are nice and the food is for the most part excellent :)

The average person seems to really enjoy this restaurant which sums up the experience perfectly, average at best. We queued for an hour, so expectations were set accordingly for a quality meal. Ambiance was friendly, warm and cozy. We were 2 pax and sat at a communal table in between two other parties. Good thing the restroom was not needed. Excited for our meal we overlooked the downsides to a popular local breakfast spot and were excited for the delicious offerings. Unfortunately that was the extent of our positive experience. Our order was taken and the hospitality ended there. Tables next to us were served coffees and refreshments. 30 minutes later we inquired about the two juices we ordered and were told, apologies everyone is really busy. The rhubarb cooler special and fresh squeezed orange juice were very nice but to our disappointment it wasn’t the only part of our order that was forgotten about. As all the tables sat after us were served their food we again inquired about ours. Apologized for, our food was rushed out lukewarm as to be expected in such a scenario. Burnt banana bread and decent egg dishes. Though the food was ok, it was hard to discern exactly what one was eating with any given bite as there were close to 20 different ingredients on the plate. Over complicating food being the sign of a passionate yet inexperienced chef covering up mediocrity. Ready for the bill, our experience was never addressed by the staff leaving the lack of hospitality as a poor taste in our mouths after our average meal.

Nice pub tucked away off Highbury and Islington. It has a charming interior, with plenty of decorative touches and overall just presents an old fashioned vibe. The service is nice enough, nothing to get too excited or familiar with, however, they have a good selection of beer on tap and do a good Guinness. Food wise, it’s operated by a different company within the pi , making it a slightly awkward arrangement, where the service staff from the restaurant being wholly unengaged. Although the food is good and the drinks are readily available, and I’d be happy to come back, I’m in no hurry to visit again.

Just finished here at the oak and pastor and I must say that it was the loveliest roast dinner I have had in a while. The staff, atmosphere, music, and the food were fantastic. Will definitely be returning very soon. Thank you 🙏
