The Cross Keys Inn in Mendip

A proper country pub with great beers and friendly staff.

Called at this Inn for food whilst in the area yesterday. I have to say this was the best food I have had for years. Absolutely perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. The surrounding were homely and welcoming and although it was dark outside there looked to be an excellent garden. The staff were amazing, so helpful and pleasant. I cannot rate this place highly enough. We will definitely be returning. Keep up the good work. Oh and last but not least the prices were very sensible.

Myself and the Mum came in for a random meal. What a wonderful surprise. We are foodies, and we travel far and wide visiting random places to eat. This one, teased us with a focussed menu - which is either a good or a bad sign. In this case, the food AND the service was top notch. Mum had the Vegetable Galette and I did the Burger Test. The veg meal turned up in a wide bowl, and was a spectacle of delight, with a pastry crown to behold. The veg was al dente with a nuance, and delivered in a fine dressing. Mum absolutely loved it. The burger... A handmade delight with a great texture and shape. Compartmentalised in a crusty bun, because without it, the curry sauce (yes you read that right) would have annihilated the bread. An EXCELLENT burger, delivered with fries and garnish. Simple. Effective. Quality. You want a good burger, this one is worth a look. Big props to the absolutely professional service from the team here. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 We'll be back. 👌🏻

We didn't stay here, but the owner let us use their facilities for a fiver after a mini water disaster in our motorhome. Extremely grateful for the emergency waste dump and the fresh water fill up.

Stayed here with family for the weekend Lovely little campsite Clean and tidy with good toilet and shower facilities. What a great pub Manager Tom and staff very welcoming and accommodating nothing was a problem Food definitely 5 stars not your usual pub grub and very resonably priced. Went here for pub lunch after travelling to lots of different pubs in the area at around 2pm (all other pubs were shut). Even though they finished their lunch menu at 2 they let us eat, were super kind and great service. The food was delicious, never tasted better chips!

stoped here 27/9/24 approx 7pm on my way through. we had a table for 3, food excellent , service was fast friendly and polite. I've kept their details as it would be a perfect stop over on my next trip down west.

Fantastic pub with friendliest staff ever!

Cannot praise this establishment enough. We stayed at The Cross Keys campsite in our caravan. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Ablution / shower block looks new, very well maintained and spic n span. Sites clearly demarcated and level....well.maintained. Gorgeous flowers and plants everywhere... obviously someone there is a very keen gardener! Fantastic pub on site. This is our "find" of the year and we will certainly be back!!!

I'm glad we found the Cross keys, nice friendly staff, food wise, the fish and chips are good home made chips and mum loved the rump steak the half a garlic bulb roasted a bonus.

A fantastic pub. Very friendly and welcoming staff. This place is very well set up for campervans parking in the car park for overnight parking.

We stayed here overnight camping at the back of the cross keys. There are a few too many conditions to the stay, plus tents are not allowed, we did state we have an awning to our campervan this was fine. A £20 deposit for the key fob to the shower/toilet block, this wasn't mentioned when we phoned to book. The shower/toilet block is good and clean. The mens toilet cubicle is very slow to fill. In high season the shower/toilet could be an issue; 3 shower cubicles and 2 toilets for women and 2 shower cubicles 1 urinal and 1 toilet for men. The pub itself is fabulous, lovely staff and drinks. The campsite is adults only.
