Having been before and enjoying the food was bitterly disappointed last time we went only two sunday lunches left on a Sunday at 12.15 so decide to have one couldn't chew the beef everything else seemed as if had just been warmed up in the microwave. The pub itself is lovely and the staff are very pleasant.

The idea of a pub lunch today was planted in my mind so we set off to the X Keys in Fulstow. It’s been a while since we had been here and we were happy to be going back on a very warm lovely day. After being greeted by a nice lady behind the bar we decided to have a G&T and my husband had a lime and soda (driving) she brought us the menus and left us to look through them……..specials menu, ordinary menu. Hubby chose the lamb and mint pie with mash and peas with yummy gravy I had the Brie wedges with salad and chilli sauce. They were both delicious, we then opted for lemon sponge n custard for me and apple/toffee tart for him…we couldn’t finish them ☹️ Thank you Emma (landlady) it was lovely and we will be back

What a hidden gem, last Sunday driving in the Lincolnshire worlds I came across this place an absolute Gem. I called in for some directions and ended up having the best Sunday roast ever ( local Lamb from the farm just down the road ) followed by a taste sensation Cherry Bakewell Cheesecake washed down with a pint of real ale which there was a choice of three I went for the Batemans Gold. The open fire was a delight and the staff very friendly.

We called in for Sunday lunch as we had been a couple of weeks earlier and enjoyed our meal. Today the beef was that tough that we all had to leave it. We told the young girl who served us and she looked embarrassed and apologized. When we came to pay we also complained to the Landlady who did not apologize but simply said that table over there thought it was ok. After our visit today we will not be recommending the Cross Keys.

Quite simply a lovely village pub, nice landlady and staff serving what I would call good home cooked food , great portions and excellent value. We had chicken goujons and garlic mushrooms for starters which were both first class and we both had the beef burger which we doubled up for an extra couple of quid. The burgers are clearly homemade and I would go as far as saying it was one of the best I've had. Only minor critisism (from a lager lover)is no draught premium lager but had Coors and carling. This pub is a bit off the beaten track but trust me go and find it you won't be disappointed

Really old school Sunday lunch with tasty gravy. Well what a lovely surprise this restaurant/pub is! Standing on the corner of a little rural village near Louth, you could easily drive through and think nothing of it but what a mistake that would be! Step inside and you will find a cosy pub, a warm friendly welcome and a cosy restaurant at the back. If pubs aren't your thing then you could just go straight to the restaurant but the pub itself is lovely with a good selection of wines, beers, ales and spirits. The menu in the restaurant is varied with something for everyone, even the fussiest of eaters. I can highly recommend both the salmon and mixed grill, but if you want something a bit spicier there is curry and good old fashioned local fish and chips.Everything was of good proportions, great value for money and served with a smile.I run a holiday cottage and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this establishment to all my guests. You can also choose from the same menu in the bar which is dog friendly. All in all a little gem!

Welcoming pub both from the staff & the locals. Restaurant ambiance OK although tables a bit close together and music a little loud (subjective of course). I noticed the wall mirrors for the benefit of the guy who'd otherwise be staring at the wall - they obviously didn't get there by accident. Service was prompt & friendly. Excellent starters - Broccoli & stilton soup and an interesting stuffed pastry of Greek origin. Mains were fish & chips and chix à la crème, both of which were served piping hot with a crispy mixed salad. The former was as it should be, but the cream somewhat unsubtly swamped the chicken - a comment rather than a complaint. We declined desserts which indicates our appetites are no longer what they were 50 years ago! Full marks for a well chosen selection of ales. The Axholme brew was superb if a little strong, but XB is a good local quaffing beer. Summary: a well run pub, a little above average and one that I would hesitate to drive past at mealtime.

Having spent the morning gardening we arrived ready for our Sunday lunch. The bar area was very quiet so our order was taken quickly. The food arrived quickly, one beef and one pork with stuffing, a couple of roast potatoes and a Yorkshire Pudding, followed by peas, carrots and leeks in cheese in separate dishes and a boat of gravy. We were both hungry so ate, but I have to say it was not good, the meat was in evenly cut slices with no 'shavings' that you get from freshly sliced joins of meat, so I guess it was pre cooked. My pork was tasteless, the roast potatoes were over cooked so had gone sour, the Yorkshire pudding was burned the peas were hard, the leeks under cooked and the carrots were the only thing I truly enjoyed. The beef was also tasteless. Such a disappointment, especially as the pub is under new management. On the plus side the service was good, dogs are allowed in the bar and there is a good selection of draught beer. However this is the second time we have been for food and had poor food. I don't think we will be returning.

When former locals take to the serving side of the bar, you just know the right ideas are going to be implemented, and they have! They know what beers people want, what entertainment, snacks, food, the lot.Everything is sourced locally according to the menu, and given the location in Lincolnshire, we know that means top quality produce (and certainly fish!)Their variety of gin is not to be snubbed either, given the recent surge in popularity the collection on offer has grown, with Louth's very own distilled "Pin Gin" as one of the many offerings.I'd definitely recommend a visit whether you're passing by or local, as you're guaranteed good food, pints and a warm welcome by the management Emma and Steve Metcalf.

Over the last few years this pub has change hands so many times that it was hard to say from one day to the next whether the food or service was going to be good or bad. How ever after my visit today I am delighted to see it is now in safe hands. The food is beautifully presented, well prepared and served by charming staff. I had a Toasted Club sandwich, which came with lovely hot chips, a fresh side salad and creamy coleslaw. The sandwich was well filled with chicken and bacon. The young lady that served us was friendly, chatty and made us very welcome.Although we were quite full, we decided to have desert and we ordered the Red Berry Cheesecake. This was presented beautifully, a lovely thick cheesecake with berries and fresh strawberries on top, served with icecream ( or cream) and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Our village pub has just been taken over by new managers who are very passionate about the pub. We decided to give it a try. It's been decorated beautifully. I felt very relaxed and the service was great. It was a fish and chips evening but I had scampi. I'm not a fan of chips due to them often being greasy. These chips were perfectly cooked. The scampi was a good size and tasted great. I pinched some of my daughters fish just to taste and it was very fresh with a light coating( not sure if it's a light batter or breadcrumb coating) but it was delicious. Plenty of bread and butter was available and deserts, apparently, went down very well. I'm looking forward to returning to sample some more dishes.

As a family we have regularly visited and since Emma and Steve have taken over it has a traditional pub vibe back. We tried the fish and chips on Good Friday and they were fantastic! Really happy customers. If you've previously had a bad experience please go back and re try!

Ignore any reviews prior to this month. Emma has only taken over in Apr 2017. Went last week when I heard she had taken over. The place was spotless and looked super. It is a functional village pub with a separate restaurant. Unfortunately she has no cook on a regular basis until the 16th Apr; so we could not have lunch. However, I have know her at Tetney Golf Club in a previous life where she was a stunning host and excellent organizer. Give the Cross Keys a try - experience says it will be good and reasonably priced. Geoff

Emma and steve are very welcoming and have really turned this pub around since they took over very recently. With a pool table, darts, Bingo and the quiz this pub is always full of friendly faces. Can't wait until they start food easter weekend.

We were running a bit late for Sunday dinner and had not been here for a couple of years aware it had changed hands a few times. On walking in the door was a floor was greasy near the kitchen exit and it had a feel it needed a good wash. We sat down and were brought some menus which looked like they had been used as a baby's bib it was that dirty. The cutlery on the table was also dubious and I nearly paid for my drinks and left. However I regretfully did not as it was too late in the day to get anywhere else to eat. I ordered a chicken Sunday roast. It was probably the worst roast dinner I have had anywhere! There was nothing and I mean nothing good about it and I ended up leaving most of it. I'm not spending anymore time on this review as this pub has some serious issues if it is happy with serving this type of food and my review is the least of their problems.

Been quite a few times for a meal at the Cross Keys pub and everytime the meals are great. If you want a typically friendly, country pub then try it. Can highly recommend the mixed grill and lamb shank. Its a lovely cosy atmosphere in the bar with excellent staff. Lovely girl behind the bar tonight couldn't do enough for us and the manager/chef did an excellent job. Will definitely be returning.

We visited after a brisk walk in the surrounding village for a drink and some food. The service was good and we were able to pay for drinks and food at the end of the meal. The food took a reasonable amount of time, but to be honest, it was not worth the wait. My lasagne was in a soup bowl, and consisted of lots of layers of pasta (6 in all) with white sauce and one scrimped layer of meat. The pasta was soggy, not firm, as the food had obviously been made quickly in the dish...even the cheese on top was barely melted. The salad garnish was good, but the garlic bread was basically soggy toast, not crisp or crunchy. The coleslaw was cheap and I only ate the salad and bread and shared half the lasagne with my dog, who ate the cheese. My husband ordered ribs and said they tasted similar to those from 'a low end supermarket' - mass produced ribs you get in bags to microwave. The chips, onion rings and corn on the cob was similar, cheap value products that do not fool anybody with a palette. A disappointing meal, if it had been one of our meals we might have put it down to the day, but both were barely edible. The meal was just short of £30 with soft drinks, not a value price for such obvious 'value' products. It's a shame as we had gone because dogs are allowed inside the pub, but not even being able to take my gorgeous pouch out would make me eat there again!

Unfortunately, the Dunes Complex is definitely not wheelchair friendly. There are disabled parking spaces in the car park. However, they were all taken, and some didn't have Blue Badges visible. Once in the Dunes Complex, there are 2 more ramps to consider, the 1st one is quite steep, and the 2nd one is less of a hassle. If a wheelchair user or someone who has mobility difficulties wanted to get to the stage, they would have to ask staff for a further ramp. To get onto the stage itself, well, there are narrow corridors that a wheelchair does not fit through, and there are no handles or any form of mobility aid.

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.

I ordered a Sunday roast delivery from here and it went in the bin as soon as it arrived! Everything was burnt to a crisp and absolutely disgusting, I would not recommend eating here at all! I've heard from a few people how awful the food has been there for a while now but thought we'd give it a go for ourselves. Avoid at all costs and don't waste your money here!
