1st time visit whilst on holiday, but whenever we visit nr Oswestry this will be the place we will come ,the Landlord and landlady where the best pleasant and chearfull, the staff who served us where very nice, and food well there lots to choose from, and as a Camra member it was great to see 3 nice local beers (all nice) yes tried them all (not driving) .but what a gem of a pub, called cross keys I believe once, now called the Docks. Why I don't know , nowhere near Liverpool

Interesting and varied menu. Not the usual "pub classics" thank goodness. I chose the skate wing. I can't remember the last time I came across that on a menu especially inland. Very nicely cooked. Staff extremely helpful especially with the vegetarian in our group and offered an alternative to the cheese in her chosen dish.

I recently visited here for a family Sunday lunch and although the roast option went down very well, as a vegetarian I was very disappointed that only one option was offered. Ambience was good and it is obviously a very popular place, however I wouldn’t recommend it for non meat eaters.

We visited just before new year, on our way to our holiday stay nearby. I had found it on Google maps whilst planning the route and honestly we went after reading the note from Geoff the head chef. We hadn't booked in, but we were seated by the log fire (great cause it was wet and windy outside) and asked if we wanted drinks. We did and asked about getting food too, so we were told we could stay by the fire to eat. We ordered and were not disappointed at all !! Duck/orange pie was fantastic and substantial, my wife had venison sausage and mash, which was also fantastic. There is nothing bad I can say about The Docks, it's truly a brilliant pub, with great hosts and lovely food. We will definitely make the hour or so drive from home to come here again

This pub was bustling when we arrived there on a Saturday evening, and although the restaurant itself was quiet when we were seated, that soon filled up as well. Four of us ordered burgers, but despite being tasty (apart from the rather bland pheasant burger, of which I couldn't detect any cranberry or brie), a salad garnish would have been a welcome addition to a rather bare board. Furthermore, the thick cut chips were definitely not home made as the waitress said they were. The pork belly dish was described as 'very chewy' although the sauce was nice. The best meal was definitely the turkey dinner, which everyone else would have gone for too in hindsight. Would go back again, but food wise it needs to up its game.

Visited with family for Sunday lunch after recommendation from friends. Firstly priced showed little relation to sample menu on their web site. In fact it was significantly more expensive , For an additional £4 you could have 2 meats instead of one so 2 of our party took that option. Those who didn’t had 2 slices of the meat they chose but those who paid extra still had just 2 slices but one of each type. A bit of a con. A couple on an adjacent table had 1 dish of veg between them. We were a party of 6 so might have expected 3 dishes but we were given only 2. On complaining a further dish was brought but even then there was not really sufficient for 6. eg one baby carrot each. The beef was extremely tough and Yorkshire puddings like leather. I regret to say very disappointin

The cross keys pub now known as The Docks. I turned up with my dog and no reservation and had a whole room to myself! Normally I would look around others food to help me decide but no chance in my solo room. I was so impressed with the menu I could not decide. After asking advice I had the infused lamb steak and it was served perfectly, pink and melt in the mouth. They served a nice rioja wine by the glass to. I waited a while before ordering dessert, and again was stuck......so see below as to how it was sorted by the owner as there had been a delay in their service to me.

Staying in Central Oswestry, we decided to look elsewhere for dinner on our second night. We chose the cross keys at it was a village pub. The staff were very attentive and most friendly. We sat in the garden for a couple of drinks until our table was ready. The food chosen was very good and we enjoyed our evening. If we find ourselves in this area again we would gladly return.

We moved to Glyn three years ago, & on the rainier days when we couldn’t be out walking in the hills, we came here a few lunchtimes & loved it. Gorgeous building, friendly hosts, atmos in abundance - a really classy place. A hiatus of two years due to hubby’s serious illness meant we haven’t been out for ages; so with him on the mend, on this most lovely of sunny summer evenings, we parked ourselves in the garden & feasted on their tasty fayre. We were not disappointed. Amazing starters & great mains. We’ve already recommended to our neighbours who are also fairly new to the area. We’ll be back, and soon. :)

Went for Sunday lunch with my 94 year old Mum. The staff (particularly Bethan) were astonishingly understanding and kind towards my Mum. The menu was huge, wide-ranging and imaginative and what we had was delicious. It’s the first place I’ve EVER found to offer a small size version of every dish for smaller eaters. We’ve all seen hideous kids’ menus but how often have elderly people been understood and properly catered for? A rare find. Xx

Just been to the Docks for Saturday lunch. Can’t complain about the food or service but the prices on the current menu are considerably higher than the sample menu on the website. I accept that costs are going up all the time but the website should be kept up to date as it is misleading.
