We went on Mother’s Day and made a pretty last minute reservation. We went towards the end of the day. The food was as good as if we had been the first order of the day. Everything was freshly cooked and everything was absolutely perfect. The only downside was that we didn’t have room for dessert! Dee and her team are always friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble. Our favourite pub without a shadow of a doubt!

Me & my partner had a lovely meal here, we both had the Sizzling Ribeye with mushrooms, onions, chips & peppercorn sauce, it was delicious, cooked to prefection, lovely atmosphere & friendly staff, we will definitely return.

Lovely meal we ate in the bar. Good choice on the specials board . The Cross is a lovely pub with excellent service . The only fault really is that there are too many bar stools at the bar making it difficult to be served at times .

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Loads of fresh veg, cauliflower cheese which was delicious! Extract gravy. Good service and lots of space. We didn’t have room for pudding which was a shame, maybe next time.

We had a great meal tonight, brilliant scallops and samphire followed by venison with a red wine sauce for me, and smooth pate followed by a huge fish pie topped with king prawns for my friend. The food was superb, the bar area friendly and lively and our table was just a little tucked away so we could eat and chat. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Overall a lovely evening in a pretty, bustling village local. Recommended!

A local pub for us and always offers a friendly welcome. Good choice on menu and always a specials board. Usually a weekly cocktail too all of which have been sampled, enjoyed and recommended. Large portions of food and all our friends love this pub and are happy to return regularly. Local bands and a great atmosphere.

Sunday lunch was fantastic - beef, yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes lovely gravy. Everything was cooked to perfection and their service as always was fantastic. The team work hard to provide a wonderful service and welcome. Yes the prices can be viewed as a bit more than normal but this is not a Spoons, Slug and Lettuce type place, this is a fantastic pub with a nice atmosphere and great food.

Lovely food, very good selection should cater for all taste, very friendly staff and atmosphere, they made you feel welcome.

We happened apon The Cross, and how lucky we were. A warm welcome from an older lady on the bar, spent time talking with our children and a treat for our dog. The food was hot, tasty and good value. Lovely well kept garden also, will definitely return on our next visit.

Food was ok nothing special. No veg with the main course. Service was ok. Price was extorniate £ 97 for two. Glass of wine 7.50 beer 4.40. The speech house is nicer the atmosphere better the food even better. Will never reccomend or return to the cross…complete rip off.

Eaten here twice now - once with an adult for lunch and before that with a child for dinner. Both times great food, friendly atmosphere, welcoming pub. Food is cooked fresh so it's lovely and will definitely come again - child even dabbed the plate clean of crumbs which is always a good sign!

Excellent food, superb service and good value for money. A very good choice on a menu with some alternate dishes. EG wolffish, 2 of our party had this and it was cooked to perfection with a lovely sauce and samphire. The steak and ale pie was delicious and the chips were real chips. Chunky and crispy. The vegetables were also cooked to perfection and a good selection. PakiLchoi, mangetout and carrots. Our waitress made the night. She was professional, friendly and very efficient. Thank you all for a very pleasant dining experience. Would highly recommend the Cross. FODFET.

We visited for my mum’s birthday. All the staff were lovely . Especially Tierney . The food was all excellent ,and a good choice . My mum who who’s 84 said it was the best steak she has ever had and she’s had a few .! Would definitely return soon .

So there are a couple of good pubs around here, and this is a favourite. This review will probably be read by visitors, so be re-assured this pub and locals are most welcoming. After extensive building works this re-opened at Christmas 2022. I think it's own speed of success may have been a surprise. They have a re-organised bar area and kitchen, but the dining room and bar are familiar. The Beer Garden has been expanded. Service is very efficient and friendly. The food is excellent, and always comes as described, hot and appetising. Some of the specials can be particularly good, depending on seasonal availability. The main menu offers good choices, and Quality Inns deliver their name. Dogs are welcome in the bar. Usually there is enough local parking.

Went for lunch sat outside in the large garden. The pub has been renovated to a high standard inside. The staff are so happy and helpful. There is a good choice of drinks and food and the food was excellent.

Another fantastic pub in the Forest of Dean. The food was delicious and the staff were brilliant, very friendly and welcoming with efficient service. Portion sizes were very generous. Well worth a visit and we will be returning!

Welcome back. Better than ever. After a long closure the refurbished Cross has re-opened. Good beer and excellent food. Relaxed and welcoming. Highly recommended.
