Visited here last night with the menfulness group ! Really nice atmosphere , friendly staff , great venue for this event. Will be attending again. Maybe walk next time so I can. Enjoy a beer 🍺 .

Fantastic pub. Jimmy, Strider & Sam behind the bar make everyone feel right at home and welcome, legends of the game. Crafty beers that are ever changing with good snacks. local live music and food vendors on Saturdays…nothing crooked about this place…tap it up!

Cracking pub fantastic choice of beers

I've left no stars for food as we didn't eat. We had an amazing time seeing the new year at crooked tap! Staff are very friendly the music was on top form! The DJs were very nice too. Played music to suit all. Good clientel aslo! Definitely recommend popping in to this venue. We shall see you again soon! Thanks guys and gals! 👍🏽

Lively and friendly atmosphere. There are some big tables, which are ideal for large groups meeting up, and a good selection of beers.

Jimmy is an excellent landlord with a great selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers. He’s a wonderful human being who is great to talk to. His staff are all fab, too.

Amazing as always! This is my local and the staff are so friendly and will help you pick out the perfect beer for the mood that you are in. We always like to take our friends to this when they come to visit and they always come out loving it!

A Trendy pub in an upcoming part of York serving cask and craft ales. The cask ales were in good condition and the clientele was mixed but there was a really friendly atmosphere. The pub is very different to the usual Acomb watering holes but it's well worth a visit if in the area.

We love to visit The Crooked Tap. Such a great place to have on our doorstep, we are very lucky! They have lots of craft beers to choose from. Plenty of seating indoor and outside. Great atmosphere on Fridays and Saturdays when the live music is on and independent food stands are knocking about! Also dog friendly :-D

Great place to go for a beer or ale. Road isn't that busy, green opposite, plenty of seating inside if the outside is all taken. Friendly staff.

Fantastic pub, dog friendly, really look after their beer.

Way overpriced scam, they get you to open a tab so you don't know how much you're spending. Then you get the bill at the end and die of a heart attack!! Mixed atmosphere: some creeps. The staff were rude and disrespectful.

Great beer, lots of room, very helpful staff. Bar or table service. Toys for the kids. Craft beer in acomb, who would have thought. Anyone who prefers the Sun to the Crooked Tap needs their head shaking. Toilets are fine and on a par with anywhere else

Desperately need bigger premises, very good staff,great entertainment,pop up food stalls not to my taste although there was no objection to bringing in a Pizza from next door. Craft beers. Prices around the norm for craft beers. Can get ram packed .

Bit of a surprise in Acomb! Relaxed place with great beer

I'm probably biased as I live in Acomb but I reckon this is the best pub in York! Consistently great selection of interesting beers and very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Kid and dog friendly plus they sell grab bags of Monster munch, what more could you want?

Went on Thursday before xmas eve, table service only, no problem, pinot grigio fine, camden hell lager fine. Easy atmosphere.

Quirky little bar in suburban York. Surprised to see an edgy little bar out of the town centre, nice array of beers on tap however was on the expensive side. Nevertheless was nice to be able to get a table on a Friday night.

Ignoring the toilets which are dire. The service is absolutely disgraceful. Went to the bar, stood there whilst 2 people who came after me were served before me, when I questioned if perhaps I was stood in the wrong place I was told to sit and they would come and take my order, when they came to take my order the table before us requested attention and they got served before us!! Cannot even begin to comprehend the complete and utter lack of basic bar work! I will just point out I have worked in hospitality for over 20 years so I am aware of the pitfalls, issues and problems encountered! I will not be back. There is mo excuse for bad service! Do yourself a favour and pop yourself next door to the sun,

Wonderful craft beer outlet in Acomb, on the outskirts of York. Easily reached by bus. Great selection of draught and keg craft beers, friendly and welcoming. Worth the visit.

Easily the best bar in Acomb. Great selection of beers on keg and handpull as well as a well stocked fridge of unusual beers. The staff are friendly knowledgeable and will happily suggest beers to try. Definitely worth a visit. Also, it's NOT expensive, they are selling high quality beers not your mass produced tasteless lagers . I think its value for money

Great staff. One replaced.my sons basketball after his was taken from him by a gang of youths. The 2nd couldnt have done more when i visited with a friend for a break during a dog walk. Great service,nothing was too much at all

Could do with a bit more choice of beers/lagers and a tad pricey - pity the outside front cant extend and look prettier - job for york council to stop people parking there! Nice guy taking orders

Lovely atmosphere, great drinks selection and helpful friendly staff. Efficient covid regulations too. They have a shop inside so you can order drinks to take home as well. Oh and they’re dog friendly. I don’t have a dog, but I like meeting dogs in pubs. (:

Wonderful out-of-town local craft beer bar. We need far more places like this in place of dodgy Sky-sports and pint-of-Fosters 'pubs'.

Like a cross between a mini Danish beer hall & a cool little Yorkshire pub. Great atmosphere, service, music &, most important, selection of beers. I bet it makes a great local! Love it.

Wow excellent beers and great atmosphere

A good, down to earth pub with a great selection of wines and beers. Some a little overpriced. Great for families with children and dogs, but very noisy if you fancy a quiet drink with your partner. The staff are always friendly and happy to recommend one of their hand crafted ales.

The food was amazing from here at a great price, only lost a star due to the length of time it took. (I know it's all made from scratch but we ended up waiting around 40 minutes.) Would come back again though!

Brilliant place with the very best beer around

never tried the beer as i’m a child but have spoken to the owners and they’re all really nice guys, especially the irish one he seemed very welcoming. the atmosphere was wonderful and it is always pleasantly full of families enjoying their afternoons or groups enjoying their evenings

Not often i write reviews, infact I made an account just to write this! I've been coming to the crooked tap for a few months now, bar staff are great. A recently hosted wine and cheese night really did it for me. A whole different type of pub, modern to the times and very welcoming!

Great drinks, great staff, amazing events (Gin Tasting and Wine Tasting the most generous tasting events I’ve ever been to). Always have great guest food stands, Dough Eyed Pizza worth a mention their pizzas are to die for. It’s so nice to have such a fun friendly pub in Acomb, can’t recommend it highly enough!

Great bar, friendly service, good selection of drinks from real ale to gins. Love the pop up food and mixture of live music

Great character to this new place, however, it's very noisy, lots of different ales to choose from and if your not sure they will happily give you a sample. Great range of bottles and canned ales to drink in or take out, burgers smelled and looked amazing and sometimes the have the odd bit of entertainment on. Toilets clean and tidy.

We are lucky enough to live very near to the Crooked Tap and are really enjoying our regular (!!) visits there. As a couple, with the big kids home for summer or meeting up with friends and neighbours - it’s a new focal point for our area and it’s fabulous to see it buzzing with people, chat and music. I am more of a gin girl and there’s a super choice but I also know that beer lovers will be very happy too. The pizzas from The Dough Eyed Boy over a weekend are amazing too! Lovely view over Acomb Green as well

Visited with family, welcoming, lively, good atmosphere - excellent range of craft beers and good prices, will definitely return. Acomb definitely needed a place like this, well done to the owners for grasping a gap in the market.

The Acomb area badly needed a establishment such as this serving excellent Ales of differing strengths and a range of excellent Lagers. A friendly welcome on entrance is always a plus and explanations of the different beers on offer is very helpful . The general ambience is very pleasant and friendly, some seating outside is also offered. Prices are reasonable for the craft beers and lagers available and a huge plus is the fact that anyone who is a CAMRA member gets a discount on the whole bill on production of ones card. Occasionally there is live music which is pretty good, my only crib is when the piped music is on , one can hardly talk to the person next to you, turn it down a bit. Another plus is the management seem to have a nice arrangement with the excellent Tapas café next door so one can take your drinks there to your pre booked table. And another discount on your bar bill when eating at the tapas. Everyone wins, fantastic place.

This is a lovely family friendly bar great atmosphere a bit pricey on the beer but you do get what you pay for was very enjoyable

Awesome place great atmosphere with pleasant staff

The Acomb area of York is not well served by friendly decent pubs serving excellent beer. Most of them belong to chains and are shunned by local residents in favour of going into York. This new independent bar from The Crooked Brewery is a very welcome addition to this suburb and overlooks the pretty Acomb Green and it has been rewarded by lots of locals visiting it and enjoying it. It's a bit spartan inside - not ugly but just minimal at present. The beer selection though is excellent - a good selection from Yorkshire's thriving brewing scene plus their own beers as well. They have a selection of snacks and local pork pies for those who want it.
