I absolutely LOVE the Crooked Book! I actually live in Sheffield but visit Bournemouth whenever possible and always make time to visit The Crooked Book as many times as I can whilst in the area. This place is just so warm and welcoming with lots of fabulous vintage items & books for sale within a heavenly café and welcoming team of staff! There are chess mornings and knitting club mornings and even though I am into neither the atmosphere is always so lovely and it attracts so many interesting people - I absolutely love it here and can't wait to visit again as soon as possible!

I quite like this cafe because it has great style and really heavenly cakes. The people are lovely too. Also, I like the way everything is arranged too. I shall most likely go again in the future.

Came here for a chai latte and some polenta cake. Not disappointed by either. Super quirky, great little bakes. Can’t go wrong I guess?

I love the Crooked Book, always different things to see each time. The coffee and snacks are great. They do great homebaked GF goodies too. Pop in if you are this way :-)

Fab and quirky little independent coffee / book shop. We stopped here and had the best cappuccino in a lovely relaxing atmosphere- plenty of books on sale and lots of vintage bits to look at too. What’s not to like :)

We saw this on Apple Maps and the reviews were great. We were looking for somewhere a bit different for cake and a drink and we were not disappointed. This quirky little shop sells books and other second hand furnishings and tableware as well as being a cafe. We had coffee and a San Pellagrino lemonade and some of the most delicious Victoria Sponge cake we’ve ever had. There were other cakes too as well as brownies and shortbread which all looked lovely. There were a few other people in for refreshments as well as people browsing the items for sale.

Surrounded by vintage wears from 1940s photo albums to restored chests for sale you can grab a fantastic coffee and the best cake. I don't rave about cake but I've not had better.

I came here with a friend recently and was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the cafe/shop is. The items themselves for sale are interesting to look at, and there is a good selection of books (especially for the size of the shop!), all at a reasonable price. The piano is also a lovely feature! In terms of food and drink, the cake I ordered was delicious , and my friend's mint and ginger infusion was freshly prepared. With independent shops, I would expect to be prepared to pay slightly more, but I have to say I thought the prices here were really reasonable. Will definitely be coming again!

Looked at Google Maps for unusual coffee bars at this one came up at 4.8 out of 5.00, at by golly that was about right. I will not bore you with details of the sales area but needless to say my companions and I thought that this unusual setting warranted an overall rating of 4 stars

Well where to start! There is just too many wonderful things to write about that i'm just going to have to start with the most important; CAKE! And oh my, it is delicious. The coffee is also amazing and the lovely lady that works behind the counter is the sweetest woman I have ever met, (she also has fantastic hair and the most charming accent.) Coming here is always an absolute pleasure not only for my taste buds but for my intrigue too. There is just books in abundance and bizarre yet wonderful vintage bits and bobs. The pots and pans tempt me every time!

Bobbed in for a quick latte, it was splendid, and the book store the cafe is based in is very appealing, adding to the atmosphere of a cool and quaint place!

What else would you need than a good coffee and cake? Really lovely atmosphere. You can purchase used books, and vintage furniture and bits and pieces. Eclectic music gives the place even more charming feel. I think one might bump into a chess club. Relaxed feel.

This is one of those unusual books shops that sells great books, second hand furniture and things that just catch your eye. It is the kind of shop that will take you back if you are of a certain age. It makes freshly prepared sandwiches, has cakes, good quality coffee and a range of nice soft drinks. The range of books is extensive and I have seen books for sale here I have not seen for sale in a very long time, in some cases never, contemporary and older. Well worth checking out!

I've been to the Crooked Book several times and each visit has been delightful. I love their homemade soups and their cakes. Then there is the excellent coffee - it must be one of the best in Boscombe. I love looking at the vintage articles they have on sale and then there is their great range of secondhand books and, unlike a lot of shops selling books, they aren't mostly the usual old bestsellers. I've bought some great unusual books I don't see elsewhere.

Very kitsch, nearly every item in the shop is for sale, including vintage furniture, posters and ornaments. A great cafe too, the open sandwiches are a personal favourite along with the iced tea. The main attraction for me is the numerous amounts of books available to buy, I've never let the shop without buying one. Great little find just off Boscombe High St.

Crammed with old brick a brack and everything's for sale. Thousands of books that you may not find anywhere else and a fine collection of comics. Not a great deal of choice for food but a reasonable choice of teas and the usual coffee selection. Books are the reason to go here.

Definitely coming for coffee & cake next time! Beautiful place, fell in love with the furniture on sale and ended up buying six books, whoops! But cheap books so not too guilt-inducing.

I discovered the Crooked Book today when I was looking round the many vintage shops in Boscombe and Pokesdown. There are plenty of places to eat in the area but the Crooked Book has it all. None of the furniture or cutlery matches which in my book is usually a good sign. The food is excellent (I had a warm cheese scone), and there's a chilled out atmosphere. The seating space is limited but if you are by yourself there's a cosy armchair amongst the books. I was only visiting Bournemouth for the weekend but I shall certainly be returning to this amazing café. I left with a warm cosy feeling, probably down to having drunk two large Americanos!

This is one of my favourite haunts for when you are on your own. It is suitable for couples/friends/small groups, but if you want private conversation, it is not ideal. The "cafe" seating area isnt very large, seats about 12 people at a push.
