What an appalling meal we had here. A choice of 6 meals including stir fry x 3 varieties. We opted for the burger and fish and chips. Neither were particularly nice. Don’t bother.

Fish, Chips and minted mushy peas, bread and butter, most awesome. Truly the best I've had, not that I'm surprised the food never fails or the service. I would have posted a picture but I'm too greedy !

Sadly we had a death in the family - a much loved Aunt - Joan. Guy, Sam and Jordan put on an excellent buffet on the day of the funeral. We couldn't believe the quality. They really pushed the boat out for Joan and her family. It's been a trying time, and so my wife and I went to The Crooked Billet tonight (25/03/2018) for a meal after a truly hectic and stressful time . The food was amazing, as was the service. The portions seemed to have got even bigger but not at the expense of quality. My steak was succulent and full of flavour, and my wife struggled with the haddock - only because of the size of the fillet - the fish was excellent! The sweet (my wife had pudding, not me - but I helped!) was outstanding. I have yet to taste a better lemon cheesecake - no artificial flavour - all freshly made with lemon zest. If you haven't tried the Crooked Billet you need to.

This pub has been transformed by Guy Toland and his team after a number of years of having part time management. We've known Guy for some time so we know that he and his team provide excellent service and great value and they didn't disappoint. You get a friendly welcome, a range of cask beers and an excellent menu which caters for most tastes. All food is fresh, well cooked and great value so make sure you are hungry when you visit. We really do hope that people get behind this great little pub again and support the team in making it work.

Guy, Sam and Jordan have transformed the Crooked Billet. We went out last night, Saturday 28 October 2017, to try the restaurant. The food was exceptional - definitely NOT run of the mill pub grub, but first class restaurant food.

Called in as we had seen the signs on the main road. The set up is, hubby runs the bar area, whilst his wife runs the kitchen. Small, medium and large helpings, which was a bonus as my wife prefers small portions. I had the medium, which was ample. Talking with the tenants they have been drafted in from a pub that they had built up to try and do the same. The main pub sign on the main road is virtually covered by tree growth, and coming from the Withern sea direction, you would miss it. Suggest the trees are cut back to aid promotion. Discussed with the tenants that a brown sign would help, but seemingly there are hurdles to climb. Recommend as this business needs support. We were on holiday in the area. There was a good selection of ales at the bar, and the tenant was well versed on what was good depending on taste.

My wife booked a meal at the crooked billet. And what a surprise the starter was to die for, all home made non of this out of the bag stuff and boy could you tell, it was fantastic, for main we both had steak and was cooked spot on a very generous helping of home made chips and onion rings as well what more could you ask for. Then to top it off chocolate cake with cream. . This little pub is under new management so thought we would give it go, I'm glad we did, great food, Lucy is great behind the bar makes you feel right at home. Better value for money then any other of the pubs around the area. Just make sure you ring and book a table as not massive but all adds to the family feel and nostalgic feel of a real country pub.

Stuck a pin in a ( google) map to find a breakfast one hour away from leaving holiday accommodation. What a find. Interesting decor showed off the home made cakes and savouries whilst we waited a few minutes for a table. Breakfast avocado with poached eggs on sourdough bread, sun dried tomatoes, chorizo and pea shoots was divine and substantial. Staff were friendly and obviously enjoyed serving and cooking as much as we enjoyed eating. Make a detour. Worth every mile and every penny.

We visited over Easter and loved all the little chocolate eggs hidden around the cafe - kept the kids entertained whilst they waited for their food! Lovely cafe with a great menu. We ordered a range of different food but loved the halloumi burger and cheeseburger especially. It’s great that dogs are allowed in this cafe but as we don’t own a dog, even better that there are two areas - one for dogs and one where dogs aren’t allowed. Service was quick and with a smile, reasonably priced too for restaurant quality food. The only improvement needed is the toilet area - could do with a update!

I don’t often go into bakery shops but we were visiting Driffield today and spotted that there was a small seating area inside at the front of the shop and a larger area further in. We were ready for coffee and a snack The shop is obviously very popular as I had to join the queue but it gave me the opportunity to look at what was on offer. Vastly superior quality to what is available in other chain bakery shops and very well priced. I don’t eat bread but the sandwiches were definitely calling to me!😹
