The Croft at Beaconsfield in Shropshire

Exceptional waiting staff the girls were a credit to your establishment. The battered cod was cooked well but not a lot of it, must have been a very thin fish. But otherwise nice and clean and tasteful decor.

We enjoyed a fantastic 2 course evening meal - service was second to none, we ordered from The specials menu & the food was superb, Pricing is also very competitive, I would highly recommend visiting

A hidden gem. One of my favourite restaurant’s near Shrewsbury. It’s set in a very picturesque area. Plenty of car parking spaces lead to a wonderful purpose built complex that can cater for many types of events from the dining area to the comfy seat area. Good selection of drinks and a well balanced menu makes this the place to visit!

It looks the part. Service not bad but the meal I had was poor Breads to start was four out of the package baps warmed through. The pie was poor. Meat tough and gravy thin and not tasty. Disappointed

Sunday lunch 8th September for Mom's 85th Birthday. Meat meals served swimming in gravy, what happened to a gravy boat? All meals luke warm, roast potatoes too hard and some had been reheated. Vegans - don't bother going. Seems the concept of dairy free is difficult to grasp. Only one starter and one desert available on the menu. Small dish of nut roast, luke warm, separate dish of vegetables requested at time of booking but didn't receive with meal. Had to ask, by which time our meals were cold. Melon ordered for desert was not ripe and unedable. Manageress refunded some items but quite spoilt the occasion. Lovely setting, but the food not so.

We were a table of 7 having Sunday lunch. Our seating time was 2.30. Service was very good however food not so. I had pate to start that was so warm it was nearly liquid. Obviously been out of the fridge for a while, maybe not a good thing. The lamb very firm and chewy had the texture of being reheated as did the beef. The roast potatoes had seen better days and were also reheated and old. Deserts were mediocre at best. If you are unable to provide food at the same quality as your first sittings perhaps you should have a cut off time. I had heard a lot of good things about the Croft and members of our group had been before however we all left very disappointed.

Absolutley fabulous , although we had a meal on Saturday and it was well overcooked to the point of burnt. Not their normal cooking standard so I will chalk it off to experience. Normally the food is 100'/. and the staff are very friendly . Would recommend the Croft to everyone.

Whent there saterday night 27 of us celebrating our golden wedding, I can't praise it enough, the food was exelent the service was brilliant. Thank you so much for making our celebration memorable.

I booked a table for 6 here. Paid a £30.00 deposit. 4 days before our booking i was taken ill with Covid. I called the restaurant to inform them and request return of my deposit, due to illness. A lady i spoke to told that Mr Poole the manager said he would not refund, and i could not speak to him in person. I was given an email address and duly wrote to him. He has not had the common courtesy to answer me. Maybe i should just turn up and risk infecting his staff and customers. I am disgusted by his attitude.

A hidden gem! Without a doubt one of the best places Ive been to. A warm welcome on arrival, and given time to have a drink before lunch. Service and food was amazing. 10/10, Will definitely be back.

We stayed on the campsite me and the wife enjoyed two lovely meals there one meal was an lovely garlic mushroom followed by an Amazing steak served with proper chips mushrooms and onion rings it was to die for.👌🍺🍺

Just had our 27th wedding anniversary meal here as we are staying on holiday park nearby didn’t know what to expect but wow food service and atmosphere were amazing what a great evening we have had. Even though it is about an hours travel from home we will be coming back with the kids to share this experience with them. Well done all the team!!!!

Had an absolutely superb meal here a few weeks ago, everything from the service to the food was really top drawer. One of the very best steaks I have for a very long time! Our first visit here, it was amazing. Food ,service was great. Can't believe there were people complaining about there meals! It was my birthday and the waitress heard me say this and the next thing they came out with a fountain candle in ice cream. A lovely touch. Can't wait to return.

I came here for the first time on Sunday 7th April for lunch. The food was really good although brought out a bit too quickly! We had barely sat down before the food came. The roast lamb was great although the vegetables portion was a bit stingy. I'm not sure if Sunday was the early bird special because most diners were quite elderly. Its next to a leisure/caravan/holiday park so not sure if that's why. I wouldn't come again because I felt out of place amongst the clientele.

I had lunch here today 31/12/2023 me and my wife both had roast beef it was delicious the best meal out we've had in ages. The food was all HOT and delicious. Fantastic meal we would highly recommend it. The waitress we had was very friendly and didn't mind we had 2 puddings 😋 Pics are Braised leg of lamb and the 8oz fillet steak both very tasty well worth every penny.

The food and waitresses were excellent. We waited over 20 minutes to be served with drinks when there were no other customers waiting at the bar.

Great place, we go on a regular basis in the week and weekends. Great choice on the menu, really good quality meat and fish. They have a good chef, because the food is always, tasty and hot. The staff are always very welcoming and professional. Keep the good work up. We would certainly my recommend The Croft.

We have been several times it's are venue for birthday anniversary etc there is no where near to home that can better the Croft on food, service and atmosphere in my opinion.

Visited The Croft at Beaconsfield for the first and last time today. I can honestly say I have never had a worse main course. The site is apparently owned by the Poole family. Well, they should get their fingers out and replace whoever has been let loose in The Croft kitchen. Two of us had starters which were good but when my main course came it bore no resemblance to its description on the menu. The menu described it as Pan Roasted Cod Wrapped in Serrano Ham with French style peas with ham hock, sauteed potatoes, Champagne sauce. Everything on the plate was over-cooked. The Serrano Ham was burnt to a crisp and inedible (see photo). The cod inside the ham was cooked to a point of being dry-straw like, the French-style peas (green beans) were boiled to within an inch of their life and the Champagne sauce was an over-set bechamel gloop which I very much doubt had ever seen a bottle of Champagne let alone contained any. Normally I would have told the waitress I was unhappy when she asked if everything is alright but she never bothered to ask. In fact we didn't see her again and had to go to the bar to pay only to find her folding napkins. More training perhaps the Poole family? We are local having moved to the area a year ago. We eat out frequently but I'm afraid you have had my one and only sixty quid guys. There are local pubs and restaurants working incredibly hard to produce high quality meals. The Poole family should try them and then try your own restaurant for comparison.

We couldn't believe that this place has been open for 3 years and we knew nothing about it at all. Its a great building. Warm and friendly staff. Complete with excellent food. We will be back without a doubt

We came with friends on Thursday 18 May 2023. Had the Chicken from the "Special board" which was beautiful. Cooked to perfection. Fresh vegetables. Really lovely, thank you.

A really good meal in a nice setting

So, let's start with some positives; Pleasant setting, in a large, bright, airy restaurant (though a little lacking in atmosphere, especially once dark outside). Attentive service from the staff who were all lovely. Unfortunately it was the food that really let the place down on our visit. I ordered the Thai salmon fish cake, which as a salmon fishcake goes was good, however I was really looking forward to tasting something with a Thai flavour and there wasn't any, nothing at all, not even a hint of Thai flavour, just good old potato and salmon - there was a small pot of the chilli and mango chutney on the side, which had just the slightest bit of warmth to it, along with a slice of fresh lemon which the menu said would be chargrilled, this had not been anywhere near a flame at all. On to the main, I'd asked the person taking the order if I could have a fillet steak, I said I would like it to still be pink inside but not bloody - my experience is that it's best to describe how I would like it than ask for it medium/ medium well etc. When our mains come my steak had a fair amount of charring on the outside, I cut into it and it was completely grey throughout, on tasting all I could get was grainy, overcooked meat and a bitter burnt taste. At £28 a pop I did not want to leave it on my plate or suffer the displeasure of eating it. Our server came to ask if everything was ok with our meals and I said I'd asked for my steak to be pink and not bloody, she looked at my plate and said 'you did indeed and I specifically told the chef what you said, let me get you another'. I didn't want to take the chance of a 2nd one not being cooked to my liking, so asked if I could get the beef stroganoff instead. My second choice arrived, it was pleasing to the eye, the meat was very tender but tasted akin to braising steak, not the cuts of prime beef stated on the menu, and the sauce gave not even a hint of the courvoisior brandy or indeed any seasoning whatsoever - possibly the blandest sauce I've eaten. At this point I decided it just wasn't my night, I ate some of the meal, we paid the £90 bill and left ☹️

The venue was clean, well laid out.. if not very intimate... Unfortunately the staff bringing out the food didn't appear to know what was coming out - so some confusion. I'd pre ordered my vegetarian- Unfortunately they got it very wrong. Sent me beef. Ruined my meal... obviously !!!! The deserts were £6.95... the size of a Mr killing cake bar ! They also over charged us.. Probably won't go back again or recommend 😕

Fabulous Sunday lunch with tasty vegetables. Would recommend, the only thing we could have wanted was a bit more gravy! Also, we visited later so they'd run out of apple crumble 🫣

The Croft.....This hidden little gem just outside Shrewsbury. I visited it for a family dinner a couple of weeks ago and decided to return for breakfast. I'm glad I did, fantastic full English, great coffee and lovely staff who were attentive but not overpowering. Do yourself a favour and try it if you can.

Very good experience, yesterday, whilst visiting the Croft for Sunday lunch. The highlights: - Great setting. - Very attentive staff. - Fantastic desserts. - Pricing. Our only criticism was that some of the elements of the main course were a little underwhelming - parsnips were soggy, roast potatoes were not crispy, beef was a little bit overcooked for my liking. Nothing major. Overall!, very good.

The foods ok not the best I've had for the money...I had a cheese cake which they said wasn't baked but it was hard just how a baked one would be. I had the tiniest taste and said I couldn't eat it. But still had to pay😡 they did offer something else but I only fancied that. So refused. Not happy paying for some over priced cheese cake that I didn't eat. So don't think I'll be going there again 😠

I had a lovely meal there recently. Best gastropub food in N Shropshire. Decent pint of Hpa as well. Will be back soon.

The food was fabulous, unfortunately the service was disappointing. After speaking to the manager to highlight the fact that several customers after us had been served and we were still sat waiting, he was very defensive and did not take ownership for the problems that had occurred. Maybe he should order some humble pie from the kitchen.

Good food . Prices seem to have gone up slightly. Can be a bit noisy when busy.

Loved this placed! Phenomenal food created with local ingredients. Chilled atmosphere with a good selection at the bar. Staff were wonderful, professional and attention paid to details.

Really nice place to eat , the food is amazingly and the desert were awesome, only downside the staff were quite slow, it was a sat night and they were busy so maybe short staffed, they forgot our table water and drinks and took a while to come and take our desert choice but appart from a few things yhe food was exceptional and we will definitely return

Absolutely beautiful. We went to The Croft on Friday 22nd July after a recommendation from some friends who had been earlier in the year. The place was stunning inside and out, inside was very spacious and had a lovely atmosphere. The menu all looked lovely and it was hard to make a decision! The food we had was absolutely beautiful and could not fault in any way. The staff were all very nice and attentive, with a perfect wait time between each course. Unfortunately, we were both so full we had no room for a dessert! So we will definitely be back again soon to make sure we have one.

What a fabulous restaurant!! I would never have known it was there if someone hadn’t mentioned it to me. I had a wonderful meal for my sister’s birthday yesterday. I am vegan and loved the Moroccan stew and also the caramelised pineapple. There wasn’t any mention on the menu about vegan meals, but it was no trouble at all to add the vegan ice cream to my dessert. I had also had oat milk for my coffee. The restaurant is in beautiful, peaceful surroundings with a lovely lake. The outside area looked fabulous- I just wish we had the weather to sit outside. I will definitely be back again!
