Ok.Pizzas ok..beer ok...they automatically add 12.5% service charge.. overpriced for what they serve tbh. Update. New chef..better food...roast dinner was excellent. Meal for one with beer and 1 side..£40.

Crackling “take away home to polish your leather shoes” Sunday roast 1/10 Veg roast , gravy on side came with drenched pie. 10 minute weight after rest of party. Veg eater , D and V for 48 hrs after.

Be mindful of the potions of meals you order…they are generous (huge 😉)!

Food a little pricey but it's well worth it :-)

I came across The Cricketers by chance on a motorcycle trip yesterday (Sunday). The service was excellent, and the food even better. I sat inside, admiring the cricket themed decoration. I had the Zigmac burger with added bacon, followed by ice cream and a Flake. I have already recommended it to friends, and will be back for a second innings ! Very well done indeed to the team.

Visited for the Car showcase and for a meal to celebrate my birthday and daughter & son in laws wedding anniversary. Lovely atmosphere, well laid out site . Fantastic menu with lots of cricketing terms used to describe the food! Due to the tremendous high number of people the time we waited was quite long but Harley was very attentive and apologised for the wait. The quantity and quality of the food was excellent. The staff certainly work extremely hard.

I've been gatekeeping this pub as I adore coming here but probably time for me to write a review. We have been multiple times - I would say at least 16 times this year alone. The pub is the perfect family pub, especially in the summer. They have an outside play area (with recent additions of swings) as well as a large lawn with goal posts for the budding footballer (or someone who believes they have the ability after a few pints!) The cricketers have the best pizzas in the area. Cooked in a huge pizza oven (painted as a cricket ball) and come out fresh and hot. I would also recommend the Zigmac burger - a delight! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Today I overheard a manager explain to a newer member of staff how to open a bottle of wine and what being "corked" meant. As someone who worked in a bar and was never taught this, a member of staff who takes the time to explain this is integral to a successful pub business. All members of staff are very friendly - I haven't been to any other place in the area where the members of staff are as welcoming. The outside area and main bar are both dog friendly and we have brought both our dogs on occasion. They now also sell dog snacks (as well as treats being on the bar for those good boys/girls!) If I could give the pub 6/5 I would. Well done to all staff.

Popped in to have a look at their menu as I'm hoping to take my family out for for an evening. Been in once before, briefly, and thought it looked nice, which it is. Had a pint of cider whilst I studied the menu. It wasn't till the following day I noticed that the pint had cost me £6.00. Just a bog standard pint, nothing fancy. Other places in the area sell same brand, not cheap, but way cheaper than this. Disappointing really. Having said that it is a lovely place. Pity about the pricing.

Great little place that seems to really cater for the community.

The staff are just amazing , lovely jasmine and belle ( not her real name ) and the most amazing waitress that fetched my daughter water unasked whilst she was feeding her baby. They worked so hard all afternoon and were just so can do and polite.

A nice beer garden pub in a rural village. Our little daughter enjoyed the playground making this a pub we will come back to.

Very busy as a big fun weekend.

1st time at the cricketers. We had wait a little while for our food, but they gave us a free round! The food was worth waiting for the it is absolutely amazing. Perfect pub, staff, vive, atmosphere and food. Will return for sure

Always excellent service and food from the cricketers. Been going for years and will continue to go for many more. High quality food and drinks and genuinely friendly and happy staff. Ample parking and outdoor kids play area along with lots and lots of outdoor seating make this place great for a drink in the sun or a fancy dinner with friends and family.

Great wood fired pizzas that always come out excellent, and with top quality ingredients. I find some of the other food not as good but still good quality pub food. Lovely and warm inside as it gets cold and you're welcome to take along your canine friends. Great family spot with events usually going on.

Very busy pub, packed out in Garden and in bar and restaurant, staff all still very pleasant, calm and still served up lovely pizza and salad. Welcomed the dog too! Plenty of parking even though packed!

On a sunny Sunday evening with a pub garden full of people, but instead of raking in a few grand in pub meals they stop serving food at 4.30pm. Plenty of staff but dirty plates and glasses everywhere. Lovely pub garden but shockingly bad management

Bland, slow service, very average food, so in my opinion very over priced. Cauliflower cheese side dish was tiny and under cooked. Presentation was poor too, beef roast looked like it had been chucked on the plate, not good for £22

We visited The Cricketeers yesterday for a Birthday celebration. It was my first visit and had been recommended by 2 members of our party. Our experience from our arrival to leaving was excellent. The staff are ALL so welcoming and offer service with a smile - nothing was too much trouble even though the restaurant was busy! A special thank you to staff members Jaz, Harley and Ethan but thank you to all. The menu is varied and has a good choice of veg and non veg dishes. All 5 meals ordered were delicious The portion sizes were excellent - my personal choice of fish and chips comes highly recommended! (But the steak, pizza and burgers looked equally good). Excellent value for money. We left knowing that we would definitely be returning again!

I ordered the Caesar salad which was not advertised as coming with egg which I detest and adverse to. It was spilling out onto my salad and when I mentioned that it was not as per the menu they still charged me!

An anonymous place that has a neutral atmosphere. We'll lit (in the evening) and so a bit bright. Hard furnishings. Kitchen played music whilst cleaning at the end of service which impacted our ability to have a conversation. Popular with families during the day and early evening.

Lovely place, has a friendly local pub vibe and nice food. Didn’t try the pizza but they have a proper pizza oven so I bet it’s good 😊

A great Saturday afternoon pizza, great food, great service and great place! A special thanks to Harley for his service!

Booking and greeting process was good, as was initial ordering. From there, the main course was distinctly OK. Thereafter service poor (though staff always pleasant). We asked to move tables, showed them which table we had moved to then waited half an hour and chased twice for a tepid, watery Apple crumble, very poor quality. It's all very well having lots of tables, but you really need enough staff to service them efficiently.

Large dining area in a themed pub. Clearly family oriented. Quality of food was disappointing. Service was OK. Price competitive.

On a chilly day and partway through a 6 mile walk, we popped in to Cricketers for a lunch-bite to find their gas supply was faulty and only the electric and the wood -burning Pizza oven was working, to which our granddaughter said 'Great!!- and great it was. Staff were caring, kind and served us well. Chefs welcomed us with happy smiles. Gentle open-wood fire gave us a comfortable setting to replenish ourselves for the onward journey. Thank you Cricketers - a lovely dining experience - hope the gas supply got sorted - and see you soon on our next venture.

A group of us went boxing day for a late lunch. The food was lovely, the staff were very helpful and polite. Will definitely go back. Plenty of parking available, a lovely country pub.

We went for a Christmas lunch. It was well cooked and reasonably priced. There is plenty of space inside and a good-sized car park. My only issue was that the wine was either not great or too expensive. Would go again.

Lovely homemade pizzas cooked in a giant cricket ball! Excellent service and playground for the kids. Catered for wheelchair user for car park and ramp to extension. Great drinks and food and value for money. Jaz was attentive and kind to all! Lovely Christmas memory for all x

Had a very nice family meal here. Pub grub done really well and the ale was first class. Staff were friendly and attentive. Bit empty for a Friday but I suppose people are saving for Christmas. Probably be harder to get a table nearer to the big day. Will happily go there again. Thank you for a great meal.👊

A very nice country pub/restaurant. A very good menu to suit everyone with an open kitchen. Great pizzas made and cooked on the premises. Very cosy dining room with outdoor eating in good weather. A good size garden with climbing frame etc for children. I would recommend The Cricketers either for a relaxing drink or for having a meal.

The food was fine but feel a bit fed up as we told the waiter that we had left him a good tip on the table but he still put over £6 service charge on our bill . So we ended up paying over £11 tip which was more than my meal cost, as we only went for lunch.

We've eaten here a few times and the food is always good, however we went with a guest who has a peanut allergy this weekend. We were given conflicting information on the allergens in the menu. We were told by one member of staff that the whole kitchen was "completely peanut and nut free". However the allergens menu listed both nuts and peanuts being used! Not great and could have caused a situation if we hadn't double checked the information in the menu.

ATMOSPHERE Friday PM was really chilled and nice, roaring fire, great autumn afternoon SERVICE Superb, very kind, patient, and welcoming. STYLE Front is classic pub, back is like mini wedding venue. They have pub at front, which is great, very cricket themed (no surprises), then what looks to be new barn space at the back, which is very airy and bright. Also outdoor and kids play area. TOILET It's very sleek and clean, and it is a nice addition to the new elements i imagine from the old pub parts. PRICE Not bad at all, food very reasonably price, cant remember ilexact sums. FOOD & DRINK SUPERB non-alcoholic range. I was driving and was very excited to see 5 different non alco beers, as well as cider! Alcoholic selection was great. Partner had a lovely malbec. Food was incredible. However, we had to order a new dish as the pasta ragu had had 0 taste. I'm not sure if a vital ingredient was missed in the sauce or what. But they were very accommodating and the other dishes were lovely.

Went for a family meal with 8 of us. Food great but 5 of us had pizza and we all thought there wasn’t enough topping. Apart from that it was lovely and good service. Maybe needs some lighter summer specials in the salads from as only option was goats cheese but all the food served was very nice.

We came on a hot Sunday afternoon to sit outside to be told that, despite there being no announcement on the website or social media, that the kitchen would be closing to cater for a private party - the girl behind the bar in the outside bar was quite rude and abrupt when explaining this.

We had our wedding reception here and it was AMAZING the food was unreal for so many people the standard was unenviable for canapés dinner and late night pizzas everyone raves about it. Mike and the team are all so lovely and friendly and he really let us do anything we asked for entertainment wise for adults and children and decoration wise. They even did majority set up for us on the day which took the stress away. Everyone said how lovely it was and how efficient all the staff were on the day too. Nothing seemed to much. We’ve been here many times before and never had a bad experience. All anyone did was say how Amazing the place was Thank you for making our day so perfect for us!

This is a great pub in a beautiful village setting with great food and service and probably the best pizza for miles. Perfect for family gatherings or couples. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Our grandchildren love the children’s menu and the older ones the pizzas which are delicious.

Lovely local pub lots of indoor and outdoor space has a great pub/restaurant feel to the place depending on what you are visiting for can cater for all. Highly recommended visiting.

This was not my first time at The Cricketers, however the other time was around the Millennium. We were sat in a barn-type area that I didn't remember from my first visit. The waitress said that it had only been there for about ten years. Evie was an excellent waitress and fantastically named to work in a room where all the rafters were showing. The lampshades were deliberately gappy to help illuminate the roof space. It all combined to make a wonderful dining area; not so far from the toilets but remote enough from the main bar that we were not troubled by the live music. The food was really good too. High marks for the wings to start and top marks for the sausages. The googlie pizza was also very good; well baked and nicely topped. We particularly liked the Stokes condement sachets as they were much more generous than the typical little plastic slips. While the prices were not the lowest, the food and experience qualities are there - as is the spacious car park and the lovely rural location. I like the idea that I won't leave it another two decades before I return.

We visit The Cricketers fairly regularly and find the service and the food consistently good. The team all work incredibly hard and it is much appreciated. The pizzas are so tasty; always crispy. Definitely recommend. Definitely worth a nice countryside walk from the surrounding area.

I visited, with my daughter & granddaughter for lunch. The pub was fairly empty, with just 2 members of staff who appeared busy in the top restaurant. After 5 minutes of waiting at the bar to order, we called over a staff member to serve...

Went here for a car meet. While the meeting was fantastic, we'll catered and spacious, from what I saw of the Cricketers seemed pleasant. The people dining and for the meeting were polite and friendly. The staff were extremely friendly and informative. The place seemed clean and actually well respected, like there wasn't any debris or rubbish anywhere. You have to respect a place others care for. However.. the drinks were so overpriced. For 2X pints was over £13, which is extortionate. While I'm happy to go here for some food after I've heard nothing but good things about the place, the price of a drink has made me think twice before going. Maybe I'll be back for another event, maybe a meal, but I'm in no rush for those prices.

Nice pub setting, with children’s play area and also bouncy castle in the summer…Service however is bad and food, drink are over priced. Ordered a pizza and after waiting over nearly 40 minutes I decided to ask a member of staff if they knew how long our food would be. They went off to check and 2 minutes later returned with a cold and tasteless pizza that cost £14.50! Probably one of the worst pizza’s I’ve ever had! I would have sent it back if it was not for the fact my son was really hungry…. Would I return here, yes but only due to the fact there is a play area. But I would never purchase food from here again.

The food here is absolutely amazing. One of the best places I’ve been to in Hertfordshire. The service was faultless too. The only reason I am not giving it 5* is because it’s a little bit pricey. But the food is sublime.

Really nice pub ,very friendly and efficient staff ,food was great,have to deduct one star for the miserly portion of pasta in the child’s meal at £6.50 would have expected a standard bowl but was more like a teacup our 10 year old was disappointed and hungry.

Arrived at 8pm on a lovely summer evening hoping to have a quiet pint. The place was busy outside-tables groaning with drinks. A guy walks out with a fresh drink as I am going in. Get to the bar to be told they were shut (website says 9pm) and last orders was at 7:30 but they had staff training. Went to Tesco instead and got better and more polite service from the automatic checkout- at least it says thank you for shopping at Tesco. Will not be back

We came here for lunch. They allow dogs which is good, lots of room in the bar and there is a large outside area too. The pizza and ribs we had were tasty and came out pretty quickly, the chips and pizza were really nice,...
