The Crewe Arms Hotel Restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Had a thoroughly excellent meal of tapas dishes at the Crewe Arms Hotel. Not everything was available off the menu, but everything we had was tasty and I would definitely go back. Nice to have something a bit different! Staff were very friendly and efficient also.

Great two night stay in this fab hotel. Staff were very friendly & made you feel welcome. Rooms very clean on arrival. Beds comfortable. Had a 2 night stay at this lovely welcoming hotel run by lovely people. Food was great. Very clean rooms. Only downside was there was mo food available on a Sunday night.

After checking in to another hotel that was awful I started the hunt for another hotel at short notice and Crewe Arms had availability. From the moment I spoke to Linda and her team I felt instantly welcome. The staff are amazingly kind and polite, the food was great and our room was gorgeous-clean, spacious and very comfortable beds. The shower was so powerful, I’ve stayed in lots of hotels and I think this was the most powerful. Breakfast was really good and included in the price with good quality sausages and bacon. Would highly recommend this lovely find!

Had a one-night stopover here. Pleasant, helpful & efficient staff; authentic tapas; bedroom roomy and clean; bed comfortable; bathroom spotless but no storage / hanging; breakfast good and plentiful. Great value.

Booked room ,no5,to break trip back home. Miguel welcomed us showed us our room on ground floor ,ideal as had a dog travelling .made us very welcome ,reserved a table for later no problem as we went walkies,was even told are for it so made it easy .Food was excellent both had steak pies in red wine ,pup was often given biscuits also by locals.Although just off motorway noise not a problem even as set back off main road ,Definitely on a go back to list ,

We found exactly what we were looking for, a calm atmosphere, after a heavy traffic 5hr drive. This was just a one night stay but from the very comfortable, quiet, spacious room, from the very welcoming, pleasant staff to the home cooked tasty dinner and breakfast it was actually more than we expected. I highly recommend a stay here.

Paid a visit for their coronation celebration breakfast. It was delicious, filling and very good value. Much better quality food than any other pub breakfast and approx one third of the price with attentive and friendly service. Very good vegan and vegetarian options. Visited the week after for tapas and the best chips in staffordshire. We count ourselves very lucky to have such a good local, but would travel if we weren't local.

We had a lovely two night stay and were made to feel very welcome by Miguel and Linda.Our rooms were simple but clean,comfortable and a great shower.The bar has a nostalgic feel which we enjoyed with a freshly prepared meal of fishcakes with salad and fries cooked perfectly by Linda. Our dog was made to feel most welcome and would have gladly remained for more nights if she could. The only thing that we would have liked to add would be a handrail on the bath.

A lovely welcome from Linda and Miguel.. Great size room , comfy large bed , fresh clean bedding . Blinds and curtains ( great for me as I was sleeping during day) Plenty of tea coffee sugar etc . Large bathroom, FANTASTIC SHOWER !!! Toiletries supplied if needed. Large soft fresh towels . EVENING MEAL. The best home made soup I have ever tasted . I had the chicken Napoli . Very tasty and plentiful. I did not get chance to have breakfast, but if it was anything like the evening meal , I would not of been disappointed. This hotel and restaurant are excellent value for money , Ps The restaurant and room were spotlessly clean . I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We go there most weeks. Miguel and Linda keep an excellent bar and Kitchen. Authentic Tapas and Mini Tapas dishes available as well as the regular fare. Wide choice of lagers and real ales always on tap.

Me and my partner stopped here for the night and couldn't fault the place. From the very attentive and helpful owner's, lovely friendly pub, great food, and spotlessly clean rooms all in all made for a pleasurable stay. Highly recommended five stars 👍

Went Saturday lunch with my partner who is vegetarian. Had the haddock and three of the vegetarian dishes from the tapas menu. Fish was cooked beautifully and the generously sized tapas portions were exceptional; oils, olives and dressings delicious, salad ingredients fresh and potato dish well spiced. Landlord who served us could not have been more help. Will be going back soon.

We went to this pub at lunch time with a friend who lived locally. The landlord and bar staff are very friendly. The beer was excellent. 4 of us went back in the evening and had the Tapas. I could not fault our food it was exceptional lots of lovely good sized plates of Tapas very tasty. The vegetarian options were very good as well. Try the ribs yummy. Thank you Miguel and staff for a lovely evening with great food.

A couple of weeks back we went visiting a friend in the Stoke-on Trent area, who had just moved house. As she had not settled in properly she made the suggestion, we should eat out at the local hostelry, which seemed a good idea.So we set off to the pub, which, no doubt she will soon become a regular. The menu was quite varied with plenty of choice. The landlord was a very pleasant Spaniard, who spoke very good English. The place was not particularly busy, so our meals arrived in double quick time, which were piping hot. We were all to podged to enjoy the tasty menu of sweet, so it looks like we may have to return & select a not so filling main course. Thanks landlord/chef/ come waiter, we WILL return.A.Barnes.

We visited the Crewe Arms twice over the last two weeks. Once for Father's Day and enjoyed a roast dinner and lamb shank and once with friends for tapas. On both occasions the food and service were excellent and we would definitely recommend.

Visita desde Australia, fuimos a los brazos de la tripulación para almorzar y encontramos un gran lugar. El propietario y chef entiendo muy buena comida y claramente preparar cada comida con cuidado.

Entorno antiguo pub inglés, pero en español. Deliciosas tapas caseras. Venir aquí en cualquier momento estoy cerca. Pub agradable tranquilidad.

Nos alojamos aquí como local a la Universidad keele (1 / 2 horas a pie) muy buena relación calidad-precio por la noche con la ventaja de la buena comida y cerveza local. Tal mejora de última propietarios. Bueno a ver, volveré la próxima vez en Keele.

Called in here on the chance of getting a Sunday lunch, they had stopped serving food an hour earlier but kindly made an exception... So glad they did! The roast dinner was beautiful, the sticky toffee pudding was to die for and the price was very reasonable for the quality of the food, definitely one of my favourite places to eat.

Fantastic atmosphere and the tapas was out of this world cannot wait to revisit, rooms in hotel lovely and staff friendly and welcoming

We came for Mothers Day yesterday, what a great afternoon! We arrived a little early which gave us time to have a few drinks. The weather was fantastic which added to the great atmosphere. 3pm approached - we didn't have to wait at all for the table. We were seated straight away. After ordering all the the meals the starter arrived almost immediately which was great considering how busy they were.The starters were incredible. Really tasty and just enough. The mains were exactly the same, sizeable portions and cooked to a high standard! I can say with all honesty that it's the first time I have ever eaten a full steak without pulling it to pieces!The deserts were homemade, Tiramisu (My personal favourite). Amazing! I enjoyed it that much the staff gave me a second helping, on the house might i add!All in all, I couldn't recommend The Crewe Arms enough! It is well worth going out of your way to give the food a try!

These guys stepped in at the last minute and saved the day! We had booked in advance elsewhere (not knowing the area), via Booking.com, only to be turned away... very late at night the good folk at The Crewe Arms were the only folk within 20 miles that could offer us a room. Amazingly good value, brilliant room, fantastic hosts, and even a superb breakfast! As if all that wasn't enough the place is attached to a wonderful pub. My only regret is that I hadn't had the chance to book another night and had the chace to enjoy a pint or two... thoroughly recommended.

Wow, What a fabulous xmas day lunch,5 courses all delicious,a great treat.Booked for New Years evening also,again amazing food,well presented and as good as anything ive eaten worldwide.Just a special note to Miguel & Linda.Congratulations on the high standards you have set at the pub.We know its not been easy with Miguel in awful pain with a bad shoulder{ note,he is not miserable,just in constant pain.I here he has a operation due late Jan,good luck with that.I am proud to now call this my local as the customers are so welcoming too.

Since the new management took over the pub/restaurant has become a fantastic venue. Food and ale amongst the best we've had. The tapas is great, authentic Sangria. So glad it has reopened with great new owners.

Lived down the road from here for a few years now and decided to pop in for a late lunch one day. Walked in and the place was empty-we had to ask if they were open. The gentlemen that served us seemed very pleasant and the food menu seemed nice.. Shame we didn't get chance to try the tapas. I had steak which was a large portion and not the best cut of steak I've ever had but fairly decent. Enjoyable overall and decent prices.. Would probably go back at some point.

we have been to the pub for a meal several times and always left full and satisfied.Tried the set meal tapas a few weeks ago and it was fab.Visited last night and were delighted that the tapas menu also offers more choice so you can choose your favourits and the items you want.Each single tapas is for two people and is delicious and of a good quality.We left after choosing 6 items which were tasty and filling,a few drinks and a enjoyable evening.Well done to Linda,Miguel and staff.

Went here last night and had the beer battered cod, not many in the pub, but the food is lovely and the staff are pleasant.

Muy cerca de Newcastle-under-Lyme y de la autopista M6; Birmingham, Manchester y Liverpool están a poco más de una hora en coche. El ambiente muy agradable y un buen lugar para venir con niños.With new management, they have reopened this small B & B, with ten rooms, completely renovated, with Spanish tapas and English food and pub. Very close to Newcastle-under-Lyme and the M6 motorway; Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool are just over an hour by car. Very nice atmosphere and a good place to come with children.

Premises have been closed a while and have reopened under new management serving tapas. A brave venture, restricted choice at present time but the choice available is good introduction to the uninitiated. Served by Manuel himself who is keen to pleaseChoice of beers, plenty of parking and well placed for parents visiting students at Keele.

Took my mum for her birthday as she lives that way and we had noticed it had been taken over and she had heard good reviews.They offer Tapas and Miguel served us. It was yummy and the service was great. Mum had steak and said it was delicious. Decor is looking great and it's good to see it open again.

Went for Sunday lunch last Sunday. We had the 3 course, Pate Starter was to die for,I had half chicken main and my wife had beef. Both main meals were fantastic, excellent, and the sticky toffee pudding was magnificent. Service was first class and ambience lovely. I have heard this is under new management, you can certainly tell the difference. All in all I could not recommend highly enough. We will certainly be returning. Nice to get good food and great service, a rare thing these days.

Having enjoyed many outstanding meals when owned by the previous team we wereager to see if the food was as good. The premises have been smartened up and the games room looks wonderful (darts, TV, pool table). the staff are very pleasant and helpful. We went for Sunday lunch and so I cannot speak about the tapas menu on offer. Our meal was disappointing. It was beautifully presented but there was not a lot of it. On ordering roast beef we were asked how we liked it cooked. It came as one thick piece. The ham was something like a bacon joint sliced in rounds. I had expected slices from a traditional roast ham. The previous owners always presented us with a serving bowl of veg to add to our plates which already had a large portion of delicious meat and roast potatoes. Don't think we will be returning.

The starter of pate was the best Ive had yet...well presented nice warm toast and the salad accompliment was excellent.beef dinner was very tasty..nice cut of beef with a good yorkie

If you want a tea coffee and a meal, this is the place for you. 'Barman' told us we could go and buy some beers and drink them in there but why would you?? You can do that at home...

We enjoyed our stay the room was a nice size and was clean. We also had a meal in the resturant which was very good. The hotel is having problems at the moment due to bad mangement. So at the moment have lost there drinks licence but we got wine from the local off licence so we where okay. The staff where very helpful. I don't know if they are still open.

Arrived early evening, about 6:30, walked into restaurant part, felt cold and only partly lit. Waited for a few minutes ,no front of house,so walked into bar and asked for menus.only one member of staff on.Ordered 2 steak and chips, the food was excellent and the service good.The table was "sticky" this was due to the varnish, not dirt.No steak knives with the steak (they did not need it though as they were good quality and perfectly cooked).I would go again if they put the heating and lighting on and table cloths on the tables.Customer comfort is first and foremost, I hope the management read this as they have such alot going for them.

Poor quality food and service, items not available on menu and waitress unaware of this fact, we walked into the restaurant and stood like spare parts for 10 to 15 mins before anyone acknowledged us.

Generous portions of home cooked tasty food! Prawn cocktail came on a plate with lots of crisp lettuce. I had two large fillets of sea bass with fresh vegetables and mash. Very filling

After reading the menu on line, we looked forward to a quiet evening with a good meal. Sadly to say, the menu offered was not the one advertised on line. Menu consisted mostly of hamburgers. We decided NOT to eat there
