Have only ever had lunch here but on several occasions. Great selection of light bites, main courses and delicious baguettes.Some interesting selections. Friendly welcome set in a pretty village.

Rude landlord, always had a local agreement for using the facilities, always seeking permission before our ramble. We consistently attend all buying a drink and consistently a third purchasing a meal, we have done this for months. We were this time approached to be told we need to pre order or cannot use the car park. The tone and approach was rude and aggressive. Horrendous approach to service!!!

Simply the perfect Sunday. Started with a lovely walk from the pub door and back. Upon arrival they welcomed us and our whippet in and sat us down. Promptly ordered two roasts one beef and one Turkey. This was simply the best roast in the Cotswolds!!!! Have eaten at numerous pubs over the years for Sunday roast and I’m very fussy as used to a farmhouse home made roast and this was as good if not slightly better than my mothers!!! Well worth the money you pay and not overpriced generous portion. And an amazing honeycombs cheesecake to finish and you could tell it was expertly homemade, very moreish!! Just to finish the crispiest roast potatoes I’ve ever had and cheesiest cauliflower ever served in a pub!

I'd give it 3.5. The good bits - nice inside, well presented and very tasty food, serving staff were good, decent garden. Not so good - regardless of how well behaved your dog is it must be kept on a lead even in the garden which is where we sat, seems unnecessary and restrictive to well behaved dogs and none of the other pubs in the area we ate at demanded this and no mention of this policy on their website. Expensive drinks around £3 - £4 more expensive than comparable pub restaurants within a 5 or so mile radius for a beer and wine. We must have arrived before the main lunchtime rush as our starters and mains arrived too quickly. If you eat in the garden you cannot pay for the first round then leave the card behind the bar/get a tab meaning you have to go in and pay for each round of drinks but more to the point they add a 'discretional' 10% service charge on which you will need to pay in advance of eating which is too presumptuous and biased in their favour. With minor changes this experience could have been a lot better.

We are in the area for the weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary & needed somewhere for a meal that wasn’t pizza or pasta or curry, because we had eaten those the previous 2 evenings. So searched on tripadvisor & found this gem of a place. Arrived Saturday night at 7.30 ad a walk in with no booking, and had no problem getting a meal. There was quite a few people in, but there was about 3 tables going spare. Had a delicious meal & a nice drink of a different beer/cider from independent breweries. The waiting on staff were brilliant & the food was tasty with a great ambience. 😍

Had lunch here at the beginning of June & was so impressed that we went again a few days ago.Its a quaint,old world pub but with a modern,spacious feel to it.The menu is inventive & food delicious.The staff were very friendly (especially the waitress who was especially helpful).Hopefully we will be back again soon.

We visited here in 2020 just after the lockdown had lifted and were back in the area so we called in. The pub was just as we remembered, quaint and welcoming. The selection of beers on draught was great and the staff really friendly. We sat in the lovely pub garden and enjoyed the sunshine. We didn't eat at the pub but the food of those around us that did looked lovely. A really gem of a place.

Just back from our first Sunday roast at the Craven Arms and it certainly won't be our last! Our party of nine (2 kids) was catered for very well - we had a large table very much to ourselves although, today at least, the little ones were very well-behaved so we had little to worry about! Two large Rhodesian Ridgebacks were equally at home... We all agreed that it was the best pub roast any of us had enjoyed for a long time. The meat (mainly a mixture of sirloin beef and pork belly) was well-cooked and in good portions, the roast potatoes were crispy and yet soft in the middle and the veggies were all perfect, particularly the red cabbage and the cauli cheese. We all thought we were completely full but on inspection of the dessert menu most of us were able to find room for more! The sticky toffee pudding and the lemon cheesecake were both popular, but you can order a simple scoop of ice-cream if that's all you want. Good choice of beers and wines and we were happy to pay the discretionary 10% for the good service and the overall experience. Definitely a 'go to' place from now on!

My mother and I stayed at the Craven Arms for the first time and will definitely go again. Rooms were clean and very comfortable, excellent tea and coffee making facilities, comfortable bed, plenty of draw and hanging space. We ate in the restaurant on the first night intending to test out the local Indians on the second night. However, after tasting the food at the Craven Arms it was a no brainer and we booked a second meal for the following evening. Breakfast gave us plenty of choice and was most enjoyable and served with a smile. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we felt very welcomed and look forward to our next visit. Close by the Settle to Carlisle train made for a nice day out. We also visited the Courtyard Dairy and some wonderful cheeses which is only 5 mins up the road. Plenty of wonderful walks all around and Settle for a few shops, market day Tuesday.

The food was fantastic, the service was great. I had a roast beef meal which was cooked perfectly, and lemon cheesecake for dessert . I would definitely recommend, very satisfied with my visit, will be back soon

Went to the craven arms on Sunday for Mother’s Day with my family. The food was amazing, great quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. Service was just as good as the food, friendly and helpful waiting staff. Would definitely go again and would recommend to others

This pub is a hidden gem, welcoming staff, traditional and cosy atmosphere and the food was amazing. Perfect roast potatoes, meat cooked to perfection and a good verity of yummy veg washed down with good quality wine. We have eaten at most of the pubs in the area on a Sunday but The Craven is by far the best! We will certainly be visiting again.

Stopped here for lunch whilst passing through The Cotswold Hills and based my visit on current Tripadvisor reviews. It's a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and well worth the small detour off the beaten path to find. They had non local Butcombe Ale on, which was absolutely fine with me as the Haka Pale was superb. I was met by friendly people and had the Aranici starter, followed by an awesome beef and red wine pie with chips and the chocolate mouse to follow. What can I say? They have a very good chef, service was very good, but expect delays at peak times due to staff shortages. My mid-week lunch was unaffected by this. Portion size was reasonable for the price, but a little more veg and a few extra chips on my main would've helped, but I do have a hearty appetite. I could say the same with dessert, which was superb, but I could've easily eaten twice as much, it was that good. One thing to note is that a service charge is included, but my experience of their service was exemplary, so I was happy to pay. All in all, a top place to stop over, for lunch or dinner, in The Cotswolds.

We arrived as part of a groups of us, It was very cosy end warm throughout the pub as it was cold outside and warmed up very quick. Staff were friendly and smiley which made us as ease, From the drinks we had they were lovely, and the ale tasted as it should. The menu wasn’t presented to well, I felt like a I had to sieve through it, that’s where the complaining ends. The food was hot, tasty and visually looked good, I had the duck, bubble and squeak and cherry sauce, we waited about 30/35 minutes, table of 6 of us but it was very busy so we were happy. Dessert we had cheesecake which was lovely also. Definitely come back, fair value for good food and lovely atmosphere and staff .

The Craven Arms was recommended by a friend or else we would never have found it. Well off the beaten track offers a good menu (including vg/gf options). Had a very nice meal, good service, nice atmosphere, good Covid distancing etc. Can thoroughly recommend.

Vine aquí durante un fin de semana largo a Brockhampton. Pub realmente encantador, gran jardín de cerveza, servicio bueno y atento y excelente comida. Advertí al restaurante que mi esposa tenía una serie de intolerancias alimentarias y lo manejaron perfectamente. Nos recibió el chef / propietario a la llegada y repasó todo el menú con nosotros para que pudiéramos explicar qué omitir, incluir, etc. . muy bien manejado y hecho para una agradable velada relajante sin efectos secundarios desagradables. Definitivamente regresaría si volviera a la zona.

The Craven Arms is a hidden gem in the small village of Brockhampton, 4 miles from the A40. A fabulous selection of local draught ciders, an extensive menu using lots of local produce and a beautiful space to eat outside or in. We particularly enjoyed the fish and chips and the mussels in a cider and chorizo sauce. Oh and the pub dog, Ben is adorable and quite the character!

We had another wonderful meal here on Friday - the sea bass with broccoli stems, almonds etc was delicious. Good choice of local ales, relaxed surroundings and always a fantastic service, makes this one of our favourite places. Definitely be back soon.

Took our vegan friends to the Craven Arms as they have a menu which gives plenty of choice for them as well as us. One of our friends is also gluten free and he didn't have any problems finding something really tasty - chose the nut roast which looked gorgeous. They were really impressed with the choice, and the fact that the menu catered for everyone, not just a 'token' veggie meal. My husband and I had the fish and chips - always a winner there. We sat outside in their lovely garden - plenty of space and table service. The staff were friendly as ever and we had a lovely time enjoying the sun. We'll be back soon!

We visited this pub for dinner in July 2020. At the time, the pub was only open Thursday-Sunday. We had a delicious meal in the pub garden. The food was really tasty. The staff were attentive but kept a good distance (as you would hope with social distancing still in place). There is a great selection of gins that we could choose from. The only downside was the limited IPA choice but on the whole, a great evening. We would definitely visit again.

We spent a lovely evening in this very pretty and friendly Cotswolds gem. All tables were very far apart with hand sanitizers everywhere. We enjoyed the food (great options for veggies like us) the friendly atmosphere and never once felt compromised. If you are nervous about going out, a visit to the The Craven Arms will restore your confidence.

Popped in after doing a circular walk & ordered ham egg & chips! Yummy.Clean & well spaced garden tables, nice servers, lots of sanitiser & thought put into the service.Didn't go inside the actual pub, but we spent a happy couple of hours at the end of our walk - lovely thank you.

Be hard to know how the Craven could get any better... since its makeover, the decor is stylish and comfortable. The food is consistently excellent, and interesting, and it comes out of the kitchen promptly. The waiting staff are lovely people, friendly and efficient, and the whole thing runs like clockwork (not easy on a Sunday lunchtime, when you have three large parties in) Also the first pub to offer gluten-free Yorkshires!

This was a really wonderful experience. We do not go out for family sunday lunch but whilst visiting children and grand-children this weekend we took advice and booked into this lovely place. The pub is tucked away in a very quiet Cotswold vilage but everything about it has a great appeal. We were all given a great welcome and it was immediately clear that young children are regular expected and encouraged. Toys are provided in a separate loung area to keep them occupied whilst lunch was prepared. The menu has plenty of variety and enough choice for most mixed age-group parties. It is well prepared and presented and served by very friendly young staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we all left feeling as though we had experienced something very special. We will definitely try to get back on subsequent visits (perhaps without the grand-children!!)

Today we visited the Craven Arms for Sunday lunch,we had heard good things about it & we were not disappointed.The setting is beautiful - even on a gloomy winters day - the food was amazing & the staff are too! especially the lovely manager (sorry,didn't get her name) Sometimes these country pubs can be a bit clique,not this one,everyone was welcomed equally. Only a ten minute or so drive from Cheltenham, we will be back!! Fabulous!

We were two families joining up to meet and lunch at The Craven Arms today. First of all the staff is incredibly service minded, friendly and helpful. And next let's talk about the roast itself.....absolutely out of this world amazing!!!! Good portion size, excellent quality products used and the roast potatoes were simply stunning (need the recipe)! Kids enjoyed their meals to and also took advantage of the little games corner. Relaxed and lovely atmosphere and could not fault the food in any way. Will definetely come back again very soon. Thank you so much! A proper cozy and warm welcoming pub.

The staff was were so friendly, even the bar maid let me try out some ales before I made a purchase which was a nice touch. Food was great, and even tho there was about 9 of us the food came out together and was still at a good temperature. Would definitely recommend this pub for food. Plus I love the touch of a dog roaming the pub. Add to a real relaxed, family feel.

I came here for lunch with friends last Sunday and we were all very impressed. The pub is beautiful inside and out, with a tastefully decorated restaurant, open fires, friendly staff and the cutest pub dog in the world! The food was tasty and plentiful with HUGE Yorkshire puddings served with all the roasts (not just with the beef as with some restaurants). The veg was perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh, with crispy roast potatoes and piping hot gravy. There were fantastic vegetarian and vegan options available too, as well as gluten and dairy-free options, so everyone at our table was catered for and nobody felt left out. I had the best bloody mary I've had in ages and the desserts were TO DIE FOR and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, funny, but non-intrusive, which was perfect for us. Thanks to the whole team at The Craven Arms, and well done. We'll be back!

We visited for lunch in mid October , based on reviews on Trip advisor and the GPG - WE MUST HAVE GOT LOST , BECAUSE OUR EXPERIENCE WAS NOTHING LIKE THE REVIEWS !Inexperienced waitress , who was disorganised , leading to a long wait to place our order . The wait for our order was even longer .Poor mains - 2 steak and ale pies , with no potato , were occompanied by mountains of vegatables served on the plate , and a sea bass fillet swamped with a strange sauce .However , the real issue was with the 2 starter portions of mussels - 10 were totally closed - we got no response at all when we pointed out the danger of attempting to eat closed mussels - not from the waitress , the owner , or the Chef .Due to the slowness of the service , we spent a long time over our meal , but were told by the owner , whilst still sitting at our table , that they closed in 15 minutes ! . No reduction off the bill , nor a thank you for coming as we left .Never again ....

Food is delicious and fresh. The staff are lovely. Great selection of drinks (especially the gin collection). We loved it so much we chose to have our wedding reception there. There is also a great beer garden.

Been here three times in the last six months and hands down it’s been the best pub we’ve visited in the Cotswolds. The beers, ciders, gins and wine are first rate and the food, ingredients, cooking and presentation are well above par for a pub, but with pub prices. We’ve had the best roast of the year here (in 2019) a cracking BBQ back in the summer, and a cracking evening meal. Well worth a short drive from Cheltenham for something far more eager to please.

Lamb gristly & chewy although vegetables were very nice..gravy exactly the same whichever roast was ordered..turkey passable and desserts questionable.. lemon meringue pie had raw meringue & an odd lemon filling.. sticky toffee pudding with a very thin toffee sauce..ice cream very good though, service by lovely young staff who lacked training & doing their best.. the restaurant was quiet for a Sunday but staff inattentive..not priced accordingly either. I was a guest at our table otherwise I would have spoken up.

Visited for the first time having bought a property nearby and enjoyed a lovely meal in this cosy pub with a buzzy atmosphere. I am coeliac and mentioned this to the owner, they couldn't have been more helpful and there was very little on the menu which I couldn't have. Although wheat, barley, rye etc is used in the premises the owner understood the importance of me not being inadvertently glutened! Staff were courteous and efficient. We'll be back (many times I would think!).

Living in Gloucester, we are bereft of high quality country pub options. I googled this venue and thought to try it. Only 12 miles from Gloucester east. A late Saturday lunch...lovely pulled pork burger and ham egg, new pots. Very good quality. The beer was spot on (Budding) and proper coca cola diet. Very courteous staff and a lovely garden setting. This place is now on my map for future visits.

Visité como parte de un gran grupo de caminatas para el almuerzo el 2 de agosto. Pedí un plato de carne que, cuando llegó, consistía en 4 rebanadas individuales de trozos del tamaño de "tapa de lata de frijoles horneados" de varias carnes, un poco de salsa picante, hojas y un trozo de pan.

We had a family meal (party of 22 including 3 children, one in a high chair). Barbara was so helpful with giving advice on seating positions the day before, making sure that the little ones weren’t anywhere in the walkway where waitresses were serving hot food. A toy box was made available too which was a godsend. Sam the Chef, cooked us all delicious meals and all the food was served at the same time so no-one was left waiting. No pre orders were taken as Sam likes to cook fresh at the time of ordering - we were very impressed with his cooking. A small room with a bar, was made exclusively available for our large gathering which was so useful to mingle and chat whilst our food was being prepared. We can’t praise them enough for their kindness, patience with a very noisy crowd and the great food. We’ll certainly be back.

First time my partner had visited the Craven Arms since the refurbishment – and my first ever visit – and we couldn’t fault it. We were almost put off by some of the hit and miss reviews but decided to give it a try, and we were glad we did.

I was part of a group of 9 people who ate at the pub on a Thursday evening. We were part of a rambling group that preordered our meals prior to walking.

We have been here on and off over many years and had a variety of good and poor meals but I am pleased to say that the recent visit was a success! A friendly welcome and attentive waitress made a lot of difference. The redecorations looked good and there is a positive feel to the place. Importantly the food has improved and we had a good meal with various different dishes between us which showed good consistency.

The Craven Arms used to be fantastic food; the best salad, the best mushroom and tarragon soup, the best fillet beef cooked on a hot stone, the best truffle chips. We loved it. The eating area has now been extended and I suspect there are too many tables for the kitchen to serve speedily. The nice sofas with the Sunday papers have gone and it feels less cozy. The menu has also changed.

A lovely quiet English country pub. Comfortable - with snugs and sofas. And there's Ben the woolly dog! A CAMRA pub of the year for 2019....we just had drinks - beer excellent - Butcombe (Blackbeard stout) recommended.

I had the mushroom and nut loaf which was sloppy, the tender stem broccoli was yellow on the edges and totally over cooked, the fondant potato was cool and the cauliflower purée was tasteless and then there was the braised red cabbage so full of the taste of cloves that it masked anything else on the plate. My husband had the burger, which considering we had been regulars a few months back, he expected it to be of the same standard - it certainly wasn’t, so much so he left some, most unusual! You maybe asking why did we eat it? Thing was, we were hungry. The young waiter asked if we enjoyed our meals, so we told him that it did not meet our expectations, he agreed with us and said the food wasn’t as good as in the ‘hot rocks’ days. He did relay our comments to the chef who said he would take notice. However, I somehow think this will not be the case as the chef thought it more important to spend time with his friends in the bar, rather than come to see us. We were not alone in our thoughts, the only other couple dining at the same time felt it was a poor show. Craven Arms, what have you done??? You were one of the best places around for food and atmosphere, but I’m sorry to say, this is no longer the case.

El servicio fue lento y desorganizado esperó casi 1 hora para el almuerzo de domingo más espantoso de todos. Tenía dudas en la carne asada si hubiera estado en el horno! Es raro y no lo hemos cocinado. Toda la comida era de piedra fría y en porciones muy pequeñas. Al final, el gerente estaba revisando que habíamos puesto propinas en la jarra de cerveza. ! Nunca había visto algo así antes. Un montón de buenos pubs en los Cotswolds eligen uno de esos no este.

Utterly lovely and, despite having plenty of reasons to be, totally unpretentious country pub with a grownup bar offering and sublime, inventive food. A disparate family of 10, spanning over 70 years, we were handsomely well provided for by an interesting and dynamic menu which did not forget those who only wish for simple food with an excellent provenance. Everything to love here... longing for a return visit already.

Great food great service and great value. Amazing food enjoyed by all of us. Service was fantastic and although we were late, we were served with patience and accommodations made for dietary requirements

Se ha tomado este pub y se ha incorporado un nuevo menú. Cuatro de nosotros comimos el bistec de costilla como ninguno de los otros platos principales, hubo pocas opciones tradicionales de comida de pub. Llegaron cortados en cuartos con grandes cantidades de grasa y cartílago, a diferencia de lo que yo esperaba.

Enjoyed a lovely pint of Dunkertons cider at this pub last Sunday whilst doing a circular walk with my walking group from a layby on the A40 near Whittington via Sevenhampton, Brockhampton and Charlton Abbots. It was great to be able to sit outside and enjoy the mild spring weather. I think this pub is one that definitely knows ho serve real ale. If you are a CAMRA member you can get 20p off some drinks. A couple of our group enjoyed their desserts at this pub too. If I come back to this pub again I will try the sticky toffee pudding or one of the fruit crumbles.

Came recently with friends hoping to have hot stone DIY cook yourself a steak but after a makeover they now have stopped hot stones. Great choice of drinks. Lovely young waiter who was professional and polite. Choice of starters was tricky as nearly every thing suited vegetarian / vegan. I chose maple syrup over proscetta. Very tasty.

This place just gets better & better. Love the new look interior & the new menu exceeds an already high expectation ... the arancini balls were an unexpected treat! Keep it up - will see you again later in the year!

Nice place in a quaint cotswold village. Nice pub with a recent refurbishment. Meals very tasty and my pie of the day was good but food generally slightly over priced.

Excellent steak, the nicest I had in my short visit to Cheltenham, with chips with their skis on - really good. Excellent quality ice cream too - and a bonus, in my favorite and hard to find flavour of pistachio. Acceptable service. Highly recommended.

It was thrilling to return to the reinvented Craven.The new decor is stylish and warm.We were a group of vegetarians and carnivores and we all had fabulous meals.I would highly recommend The Craven Arms for great friendly service and delicious food.

Really tasty Sunday roast. Great for gluten free, first time I've been able to have a Yorkshire pudding eating out! Staff were also very friendly. Definitely recommend!

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Haven’t been to the Craven Arms for a few months but so glad we returned today. The pub was warm , cosy and looking great after a recent refurb. The Sunday lunch was fantastic. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were excellent. The chocolate tart for dessert was a delight. Looking forward to going back soon !!

¿Servicio pobre, dama de la tierra indiferente, comida pésima, increíblemente sobrevalorado 8 para una copa de vino de la casa? Eh No hay pescado y papas fritas, no hay pasteles, no hay comida de pub. ¡El cielo prohíbe que usted quiera una sopa ya que no se le permite pan con ella, tiene que pagar extra por eso! Sin sonrisas ni bienvenidos! Bonita renovación en el pub, pero claramente con los precios que pagas pagas por la renovación. SI HAN SIDO ANTES Y ME ENCANTA, ¡NO VUELVAS A VOLVER! Estarás decepcionado y de tu bolsillo! También no hay más piedras de chispas de carne!

Visited for lunch with 20 friends. Food average. Pint of Coca Cola £4! More expensive than beer or cider. For a pub out in the sticks they should not be extortionate on soft drinks by penalising drivers.

He estado en este pub unas cuantas veces, y siempre lo he disfrutado. Siempre hay una bienvenida amistosa, una buena selección de cerveza y una hoguera en invierno.

Un querido amigo, James, cuando nos pidieron que estuviéramos buscando un "Pub adecuado" para almorzar el domingo, él recomendó a su local, The Craven Arms. Dijo que Barbara y su equipo no nos decepcionarían y ciertamente no lo hicieron. Al ser una pareja que trabaja en la hospitalidad, fue un aliento fresco tener una excelente comida y servicio. Estamos buscando un lugar para nuestra boda y Craven Arms está a la altura de nuestra lista. En busca de un almuerzo de domingo de último minuto en el campo, pero cerca de Cheltenham decidimos probar Craven Arms en Brockhampton. Habíamos estado antes, pero no para el almuerzo del domingo, así que ya sabíamos lo encantador que era el pub. De todos modos, reservamos una mesa con bastante facilidad y nos dirigimos. Sólo 15 minutos en coche de Cheltenham a través de hermosos paisajes. Cuando llegamos, un montón de aparcamiento, un personal muy amable y realmente interesantes menús de comida y bebida. Fuimos con el almuerzo asado para mi esposa, los dos niños y yo. Obtuvieron porciones más pequeñas ya que el menú daba una opción para esto sin tener que preguntar. 2 asados ​​y dos asados. La comida era excelente! Estaba muy celosa de la carne asada - fue cocinada tan bien como alguna vez he visto un asado cocinado (hemos tenido mucho!) Y el cerdo era muy bueno también. Un montón de verduras frescas (que era infinita si querías que fuera) y luego los niños tenían helado de postre. Mi esposa y yo compartimos una tabla de quesos. En general, un magnífico almuerzo de domingo y por un precio muy razonable teniendo en cuenta que teníamos 3 copas de vino y una pinta de sidra además de la comida. ¡Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta! !

We took a small group of senior citizens for lunch at the Craven Arms. The service was fine and the food was OK but we were shocked by the price of drinks and the fact that they included an automatic 12.5% service charge which made the cost of a diet coke 4 pounds 50p! Needless to say we won't be returning.

Stayed for weekend with friends. We had breakfast and evening meal there and the food served is fantastic. All the staff are very friendly and do a great job. Ben the dog is helpful too 😁

Great evening spent at The Craven Arms. Greeted by the Restaurant Manager who made us feel very welcome, chatting with the children and introducing the prematurely aging dog.

this pub is the heart of the village,good food,good chat.lovely atmosphere,friendly staff and in the winter a big fire to sit by.

Great service and lovely Sunday lunch. Great fresh vegetables and good quality meat. We all had a great meal. Definitely recommended.

We were staying locally so came in for dinner this evening and we weren’t disappointed - the food was well presented and wonderful. We had the mussels to start which were lovely, then crispy mushrooms and chips and a tuna steak cooked on a hot rock (which was unusual and amazing!) with fries and a salad - mains were very generous and wonderfully cooked.
