The BEST hand picked crab plymouth! Locally caught and run by a family!! Highly recommend getting white meat on brown bread, little bit of salt and vinegar ! So tasty!!

Very disappointed, over priced basic sandwich. Lobster and crab was tasty but the sandwich and roll was just thrown together and as for the service, the old lady is quite possibly the most rudest and unwelcoming person I have ever met. Plenty of other options for food in the harbour, DON'T WASTR YOUR MONEY HERE

Was really looking forward to our first crab sandwich. No acknowledgement when we went in, it was like a chore we were there. Really unfriendly lady which seem to put us off the sand which 😔

High quality seafood caught locally. Plenty of crab meat on the crab sandwiches and at half the price of local competitors. I was even allowed to sample the different types of crab meat before purchasing to make sure I would like it. Only complaint is that there where some pieces of shell in the meat. Overall still 10/10.

We have been going to Cracking Crab since it opened. The last review is totally vindictive. The owner yes can be over worked at busy times but is always friendly and ready for a chat. The Lobster and Crab baps are so good we would kill for and are always fresh first thing in the morn. These people who have been given negative feedback need to get a life. I would score Cracking Crab 10 out of 10

Waiting for the ferry back to mount batten we saw the sign for the Cracking Crab Company. Lovely lady who explained how we could purchase fresh crab meat and whether we wanted white or brown crab meat. Cost was good, crab meat was superb, well worth a visit if you are in Plymouth around the Barbican

Fresh crab lovely. A few bits of shell in the meat but I can deal with that. Crab sandwich - bread dry, no offer of a dressing just cheap margarine spread in shovel fulls. Coffee out of a machine - tasted awful. The crab was epic .. but needs some oomph to the sandwich for me to buy another.

I have visited this shop many times and i highly recommend trying this out if you haven’t already. Thank you to all the fishermen/ women who work so hard to bring this to our plates nobody realises the risks they face every day. We supported this local business all through lockdown, spending considerable amounts of money on tubs of crab meat and lobster but now it seems the rich pickings from the tourist trade is more important. Queued for 25 minutes yesterday in front of a complete menu board only to be told you can only have it if you buy it in a roll despite there being tubs of crab and lobster on the menu and in the chiller area. Fine, we will buy elsewhere from now on. Good luck in the winter months because your local trade will be all you have.

We went yesterday and had 3 takeaway sandwiches and they were the best! Definitely honing back. Lovely staff.

Best crab/ lobsters in Plymouth, the crab sandwiches are excellent and best ever had, as are their lobster rolls, definitely recommend a visit also do the pots of cockles, whelks and prawns tea and coffee and cold drinks

This little place is an excellent find. I asked for a crab sandwich, and was asked if I wanted white meat or 50-50, white bread, brown or seeded. The choice probably gets more limited later in the day, as it's only a small (but popular) affair. I chose the brown bread 50-50 and it was not only absolutely delicious, but also great value for money and delivered with a smile - what more can you ask?

Unfortunately won’t be going back. I’m really disappointed, hoping for a nice small local crab sandwich, especially as the menu is tiny. The crab was fresh, and that’s where the two stars come from. The rest of the “sandwich” was a poor quality brioche roll,...

Loved our mixed seafood. Good size portion and variety of fresh tasting seafood. Nice location on the waterfront. Coffee was good too.

This really is the best crab sandwich you’ll find anywhere, made fresh in front of you, plenty of filling, good quality crab, fresh bread and really good value.

The ladies here do the best crab sandwiches we've ever tasted, a choice of bread and plenty of crab to enjoy whilst sitting out in the sunshine. The lobster rolls are delicious too! We shall definitely be back.

Best Crab in Plymouth, only a small company but all ingredients are fresh and hand made whilst you wait. My wife and I love it there and try and eat there at least once a week. A little tip we learnt from my Wife mum...

Delicious whole cooked crab. The kind lady helped us a lot, giving advice on picking a crab, and completely taking it apart and cracking it for us so we could simply enjoy!

Sandwiches stuffed with crab .I had the whitemeat on white and my wife had the mixed meat on brown.We just had the sandwiches ,this was great as there were no distractions to hide the wonderful fresh crab taste.

This shop is selling crab sandwiches made from the freshly cooked crabs sold next door. Very tasty and it is on the harbour.

Cracking place for crab and lobster. Every pun intended. The owner is married to a fisherman so guess where the crabs come from. Cant get any fresher!

We were advised this place by the shuttle ferry staff when we asked for fresh seafood. Crab meat sold in boxes, really nice and without the trouble to peel the chair out yourself. We made lovely sandwiches as advised: bread, mayo, crab meat, malt vinegat, salt and pepper Yummy!

We just love this place and have become regular customers for their incredibly good value crab and lobster. We simply love the fact that this is such a long standing, family affair who have their own boats bring in the catch and their own premises where they steam and pick the shellfish. You can buy whole shellfish or picked crab as well as steamed crab claws and traditional pots of cockles, prawns etc. There is an outside seating area or you can buy your goodies to take away. Fresh, simple and perfect!

I agree with all the positive reviews of the crab sandwiches, but while you're there choose a lobster ask them nicely to cook it for you. Pick it up later... And enjoy a wonderful, decadent supper.

i have purchased cockles and crab all over Devon but after visiting this establishment realised what a fantastic owner and seafood business, the cheapest seafood we have seen and tastiest would recommend any body from the east end of London to try this place also berties donuts next door

The crab here are the best in Plymouth the sandwiches where so generous and tasty would of liked granary doorstep bread but never the less it didn't take away the quality and freshness of the crab caught 12 miles away , cooked and picked by a lovely lady who was very friendly. We bought some crab claws to take home which where amazing won't be buy from the market anymore. ! Guys it was the best idea to happen on the Barbican so far well done! Little suggestion you could do seafood platters with claw crackers lemon juice that would be fun in the summers months.

Popped in The cracking Crab Co, for a crab sandwich, very friendly lady served me and the sandwich was packed full of crab (just crab), could have had it with mayonnaise etc., but I love it just the way it comes. They also sell whole crab and lobster, worth a visit.

Went to the Cracking Crab today on Commercial Wharf and bought a lobster and a crab. The crab had just been steamed and the lobster was fresh form the tank and steam whist we had breakfast in the Boathouse two or three doors down. Great service and prices from a lovely family run business using the own inshore crabbers skippered by the family. I wish you every success and will defiantly recommend and return for more of the same.

Lovely little crab shack to get some fresh crab caught locally, the service is lovely and the prices are very reasonable! However, I was a little disappointed by the fact that you can only buy cold crab, I was hoping I could buy a load of steamed crab claws (or a whole lobster) cooked to order to enjoy it whilst it is hot. It's great to finally have a crab shack in plymouth!

Went in here to have a look and what can I say, I love it and the best cockles I have ever tasted. We will be returning very soon.

Open barely a week, this modest but well sorted family cafe selling crab in all its forms, some other shell fish and fish, most or all of it caught by the family themselves using their inshore crabbers. Plenty of tables outside and a great view across the harbour entrance QAB and the Cattewater estuary.
