The Crab Hut in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Brancaster Staithe is a beautiful Harbour with free National Trust carpark and a loo . The Crab Shack sits in the carpark with daily fresh seafood in tubs and sandwiches. Delicious an beautifully presented run by very friendly people. Much better value than some other fresh fish outlets along the coast.

Stopped here last time we were down this way and was closed for the winter. Tried again this holiday and thankfully was open. Had the crayfish special sub on white bread and then went and sat on the bench on the grassy area in the sun and ate it. Beautiful sandwich, well worth the wait and will be coming here again next Norfolk holiday.

Wonderful crayfish sub - sat on the bench nearby and ate for lunch after a lovely walk along the coast to the harbour. Much better than the expensive pub seafood restaurant down the road that we had dinner in a couple of days earlier.

Stopped here by chance whilst driving through the area on holiday. Wow! What a find. Wonderful Crab and Prawn rolls. £5 each and substantial sub rolls. There was so much seafood on the rolls along with your choice of salad and a seafood sauce. Tasted delicious. Sat in the car with great views and a tasty roll. What an absolute find! Loved it!

Found this by chance from the road sign on the A149 so took a chance and glad we did. Lovely sub roll of crab and prawns and my wife had crayfish with mango and chilli . Thoroughly enjoyed, great friendly service with a smile.

Crab Hut is an excellent choice for seafood lovers! They always offer the freshest and most delicious seafood, with a wide variety that caters to all tastes. The friendly and attentive staff adds to the pleasant atmosphere. Every time I visit Norfolk, I make sure to stop by. Additionally, a wonderful coastal walk starts right from here, making it even more appealing.

The produce was excellent and the lady serving me was very kind and thoughtful, service was outstanding, I can highly recommend.

The freshest fish going. Taste was amazing. Friendly staff. Right by the sea. We drove 20 mins to get there and totally worth it. I had a mixed tub and partner had a sandwich. Both exceeded expectations.

Really unhappy that it says online that this facility is open 10-4 weekdays with nothing mentioned that it’s not open in February. Had read some very good reviews of food so decided to have a drive to Brancaster ( a round trip of 60 miles) only to be told from a local that it’s not there until the summer !!!

Excellent fish and I highly recommend! Everything is so fresh and the pricing is very reasonable! They had a kids offering too for those that don’t like fish!.

Friendly staff and plenty of choice. My girlfriend and I had a punnet of mussels and crayfish, and bought Crab Hut Special baps for later which were also delicious. They close for winter on 31st October.

The best seafood stall we found along this coast for quality, good portions and fine prices. Revisited numerous times! It also helps to be by one of the finest coastal views in the area, too.

We called for lunch on Thursday and again today on our way home.The quality of the seafood is second to none.The crab sandwiches are the best around and the other pots of seafood we tried were very fresh.We got a mug of tea no cardboard cups just had to refer to return them 😉Hoghly recommended

Brancaster Harbour is one of my all time favourite places, and one of the reasons for that is the Crab Hut. The best place to grab brunch and have a wander along the coastal path, or if the weather is not great, have a car/van picnic overlooking the harbour. Simple, fresh ingredients and soft fluffy baps. Food that makes your heart happy. We will always be back.

We travelled especially from Kings Lynn where we were staying in search of crab and were very happy with our dressed crabs and crayfish pot . Very tasty , great value and clearly very popular as there was a queue .

Ordered 3 platters at short notice. We over ordered!! The platters are delicious. You can have what you want on them. These were £25 each. We will be back!

Simple seafood very well done, we had, prawn rolls plus a dressed crab and a smoked salmon roll for the one who doesn't eat shellfish. Just wish we'd stopped earlier in the week. Friendly service too

Called at harbour many times to watch bird life. What have we missed all this time fantastic food exceptional price will be back on a regular basis. If you like sea food this is the place to go plain simple and plentiful.

Great seafood in Brancaster harbour. Went twice the week we were there. Well filled tasty crayfish roll for £5 in the current climate is exceptional. Also had seafood plate that was also fantastic and a gorgeous take out dressed crab

One of the best crab huts in the world. Food is very tasty, very good value and super fresh. The seafood filled subs are addictive and we will be back. If you can, arrive hungry and also have a roll mop herringm.

My wife and I go here every few months, travel 28 miles each way. I have a crab baguette while my wife loves a prawn one. Then have a stroll around the harbour. Good value and worth the journey from near Wisbech every time.

Picked up some mixed seafood which was perfect, and the Crab Hut Special rolls which were excellent. The rolls contained crab, prawns and crayfish in a seafood sauce and were wonderfully tasty. There are a choice of fillings for the rolls, each being made freshly to order. The crayfish is every bit as good, if not better, than lobster rolls in New England. Highly recommended!

We tried to find a restaurant without booking to no avail so decided to try The Crab Hut at Brancaster Staithe. What a joy. We’d heard it was popular so arrived about midday - early for us - we were 2nd in the queue and we served after about 5 minutes. The seafood choice was excellent and a huge long roll stuffed to overflowing with crab,prawns and crayfish tails set us back a mere £6 each. The food was excellent, plentiful and bulging out of the roll. We sat down to enjoy our lunch and within 15 minutes the queue at the hut amounted to over 20 people, quite clearly more popular than we had imagined.

Lobster sub roll. # Sublime Crayfish sub roll. # yummy. Proper nice seafood. proper fresh. proper affordable. No wonder the queues are so long. The two ladies that run this are also genuinely the nicest people's you will ever meet. # worth the detour

People travel to this tiny shed on wheels. And I understand why.My first visit yesterday after being told numerous times to try it, and seeing a big queue only reaffirmed that this Crab Hut must be good.I have the crab hut special sub and was bowled over, fresh, tasty and a generous helping of seafood inside my roll. Will I return? You bet!!

It's almost three years since we last visited this part of the country and we were eagerly anticipating a return visit to the Crab Hut. We were not disappointed. The same fantastic selection of fresh seafood on offer, with filled rolls being made to order. We opted for the Crab Hut Special - crab, crayfish and prawns on a generous sub roll, then settled down in the car park to enjoy them whilst watching the paddle boarders in action. Service is good and friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. So good in fact that we made two further visits during our 5 day stay! And we can't wait to visit again.

We stopped by for quick-bites for lunch. I had a tuna sandwich - yes, I know, not exactly sampling the wares from a place like this but I'm not keen on seafood, except tuna. However my wife said it was the best prawn sandwich she's ever had. Actually I think they might've been cray fish. Anyway, it was super. And good value for money. Lovely ladies serving too

We have regularly visited this venue over many years and always been happy with an amazing baguette filled with crab until last week. We queued for our lunch but what a disappointment, no white meat, all orange and gooey tasted more like crab paste, repeated on us for the rest of the afternoon, will not be returning for lunch any time soon. Such a shame,

We were in north Norfolk a few weeks ago and purposely went to Brancaster Staithe at lunchtime to sample the seafood having read rave reviews and it didn't disappoint.It is easy and free to park at the harbour and it is on the Norfolk coastal path. There was a short queue which moved quickly following covid restrictions, only one person at a time on the raised platform by the counter. The couple serving were very polite and helpful.We had crab with salad rolls and a pot of crayfish tails. Both were delicious, if a little messy to eat! The dressed crabs and lobster tails looked delicious and if we lived nearer would certainly purchase.

There’s a reason for the queue! The people are lovely, the food fresh and delicious. We bought some pots so the kids could try cockles and whelks, then a special roll, a half lobster tail and a dressed crab to have later for dinner. All fantastic! We will return the next time we visit Norfolk. A wonderful find. Thank you so much!

This is literally a little shack/large shed on the quayside which serves fresh seafood and sandwiches. I ordered the crab sandwich which doesn't have any white meat in it - it was OK, but not like the photos! And expensive for what it was.

I could not believe the selection so went mad bought dressed crab dressed lobster a special baguette also smoked salmon that was to die for, and could not resist taking away 2 whole fresh crabs as well, could not resist driving over 30mls to go back another day, well if I lived closer I would have to join weight watchers

We bought the Crab Hut Special which consisted of brown and white crab meat, prawns and crayfish tails, salad and seafood dressing in a tasty brown submarine roll. Excellent, loads of filling and only £6. My husband chose a smoked salmon roll with cream cheese, also excellent.We took home some dressed crabs, smoked salmon and cockles.The ladies serving were very friendly and helpful, we will be regular customers now.

Found the Crab Hut whilst walking the coastal path, just in time for lunch. Well worth the queue, our Crab Hut specials were stuffed full of good seafood for just £6 each. Enjoyed them so much it was the only thing Mr Braedog fancied for evening meal so we called in again on the way back. He had the same again and I had the crayfish special with mango and chilli which was equally delicious. A must do for anyone in the area, forget the overpriced Gastropubs!

We bought sandwich rolls twice. The crab, crayfish and prawns all very good with plenty of filling and made to order. They do a large range of sandwiches and drinks. Ideal for lunch by the sea. Very helpful staff.

Well worth a visit, we read about it in Coast Magazine. The rolls are excellent, made fresh while you wait, I had smoked salmon (a huge portion) and cream cheese and my partner had their special which is stuffed full of seafood. I can see why it has such rave reviews.

We visited North Norfolk in June and we had out lunches at the Crab Hut. Super delicious, fresh, made to order seafood rolls and pots. We had tasted half of the menu (special crab roll, smoked salmon roll, dressed lobster, dressed crab tuna roll etc) and everything was sooo tasty. And very friendly service too. We will be definitely back next time! PS please note that this venue accepts cash only (the most expensive special crab roll on the menus is around £6, dressed crab is around £4.50, dressed half lobster is around £7).

Goodness if you are near stop what you are doing and have a roll.Tried the normal Crab and the Specials.Fresh tasty, soft rolls with lots of meaty crab, crayfish and prawns jammed in.Great place .... again lovely little spot and the queuing was so worth it.

The most delicious fresh seafood! We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for lunch too! And really great that they do options that the kids will love too. 100% a must if you’re ever local (or worth the trip if you’re not!).

Deservedly popularVisited just after opening on a Saturday morning and there were a steady stream of people coming and going getting their take always. It as it says just a hut but the seafood is fresh !. Reading reviews we had the ‘sub’ with crab crayfish and prawns salad. Simple fresh and lots of it. Delicious ! A real find for us and will be back when visiting the area.

a few folk queuing to be served when we drove into the Staithe boat launch / parking area (its sandy / muddy and has some real car rattling holes. But the queue was worth it - very pleasant service, and delicious fresh seafood which we took home for a seafood lunch.

Whilst thinking about what to do for lunch we started to drive in the direction of Wells, that was until we saw the sign for the Crab Hut and decided to explore. At first sightings it doesn't look much but then you see the queue! Must be on to something here. We joined the queue, Covid rules applied and started to read the board on what was available.Choices, choices, we immediately started talking to the people in front of us who said that they come to the hut at least 3 times a week when they come to stay in their holiday cottage.Choices made and we went back to the car to sit and each lunch because it was too cold to sit outside.One prawn on brown and one crab special did not disappoint. Really fresh and tasty and good value, so good we went back again 2 days later for lunch before we started our journey home.Great, well done for providing good food at a sensible price.

Lovely ladies.....cheerful, helpful and kind. Ordered the mixed seafood roll...for husband, for me.....I am a very faddy eater....I wanted the smoked salmon in a roll, with NO trimmings....the ladies went through all the items, including butter, all of which I refused....apart from a slice of lemon....Perfect lunch, watching the boats in the harbour....very filling, fingerpicking tasty....Simple but oh so very satisfying.....Wonderful....Thank you

Oh wow a proper seaside experience. Walk along the coastal path to Brancaster Snaithe. This is a hut in the harbour serving some fab food at silly good prices. The Crab Hut Special is £6 and thats the most expensive thing they sell!! Delicious!
