Riverlane Fish Bar in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Really like getting food from the river lane fish bar, always friendly staff, the food is always very tasty 😋 I would recommend to anyone who likes fish and chips.

Thought I'd try here as a change, guessing not opened long.. Possibly worst chips I've ever had, they looked like death, and tasted that way! Clearly reheated! Wish I hadn't bothered!

Best chippy I’ve been to in Norfolk and I’ve been to a fair few. The pies are unreal. Chips are done to perfection. Staff are really friendly Great value for money Will deffo be back

We are a local school PTA group, we ordered 55 kids meals and a few fish and chips for adults, it was ready for collection when agreed, organizing the order was so simple and they kept us updated all the time. they were very accommodating to allergy's. The food size portions were amazing no one complained they were still hungry. Tasted great. we were so impressed we have booked them in again for our next event.

Excellent rock and chips and service

Completely unacceptable the chips were brown and half of my fish was black I was the second entire customer of the evening so there’s no excuse of food sat in the hot counter too long. Completely unsatisfactory and a waste of monney won’t bother next time

Ordered 2 x large cod and chips and mushy peas. There was more batter than fish, the chips were cold so much so we had to reheat the whole meal in the microwave. The mushy peas were so dry it was like they had been standing for some considerable time. All in all disappointed ended up throwing most of it in the bin.

I had the OAP cod special, the fish was stale and chewy, never again will I buy F & C from here.

Avoid !!!! £10 minimum charge to use your card,Which is an absolute joke if u wish just to purchase a meal for yourself .Had to go to cash point after i was told the price.Then when I returned they tried to charge m the extra.Won’t be back !!!!

Apparently you can only pay by card with purchase of £10 or more. Not good enough riverlane. Fish and chips are not as cheap as they used to be and most people want to pay by phone or card these days. Needless to say I went to another shop .

I ordered by phone today. 3 fish 1 large chips. I have never had fish and chips so fresh and perfectly cooked. My two friends said the same. This is Simply The Best.

These lot don't like outsiders ;) Bunch of weirdos - they do however kiss the backsides of any well to do locals - one service for them and another for you ;) They don't deserve 1-Star but its the allowed default!

Very good fish and chips. I had the large haddock (pictured) the other meal cod. Both nice flakey bits of fish in a crispy batter. Chips large portions.

Very good. I would give four and a half stars if it were possible.

My favourite chip shop when I’m in the mood for a more traditional tasting meal. They cook with beef drippings so the flavour is different from other chip shops. If I’m in the mood for a cleaner taste then I go to Denny’s around the corner.

I've usedRiver Lane Fried Fish Shop for more than 60 years and still look forward to each and every visit....

Nice golden crispy chips and the cod was lovely, the batter was crispy too not soggy like some chip shops. I've only been once but shall definitely going again .

Love this place - wonderful team and great, traditional fish and chips. Always friendly and helpful. Doing all the right things during the lockdown, so happy we can continue to support them in the community, and get a great lunch.

Excellent fish and chips. Shop layout rather poor as cramped for space. Queueing is rather back to front.

Nicely cooked still hot at home

I never used to like River Lane chips years ago, but they've become my "go to" fish & chip shop. The food is great, the long queues out of the door will testify this! They sell the quality curry sauce with bits (not the horrible one).

I've recently been to this store to purchase a large portion of chips with my friend. We noticed that the chips were pre-made before they have been given to us. I was highly disappointed as I was consuming them, the taste was appalling and I really disliked the whole product. If I could I would give it 0 stars, but this platform won't allow me. I hope you save your time, money and health by not purchasing from here.

Had fish and chips & chicken & mushroom pie from river lane fish bar they was disgusting fish not cooked and greasy , chips dry over cooked & pie just warm waste of money , have to say it’s gone down hill from the recent owners wont be going back

We visited here lunchtime for a treat and was delicious. 3 fussy kids, my wife and myself had lovely fish and chips. Kids eat all theirs which is rare so proof of great food. Would recommend to everyone very friendly staff and NEW management is great!

Best fish shop I've been too I love there chips and pies it delicious

Went here for fish and chips tonight. Usually ordering from here the fish comes skinless, but now under new ownership it doesn't. I ordered fish and chips, reading notices around the shop whilst waiting I see one saying all fish comes skin on unless requested not to. A little sign on the wall in the shop in Jo obvious place. I asked the girls at this point if I could change it and was informed I did not ask for it. I said I'd only just saw the sign .I was told they're under new ownership .I pressed the issue, now to be told they didn't have any skinless fish. Even though they could see this bothered me, both stood there grinning. I won't be going here again. The attitude towards customers is abysmal.

Used to be the best fish and chip shop in Kings Lynn, under new ownership it can only be described as third rate at best, the fish had been fried in oil that obviously needed changing and as a result the batter tasted very bitter and burnt, will never visit again. I've recently revisited River Lane fish bar after hearing on local radio that it was under new management, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the new owners in my opinion had restored it back to the days of being the best in King's Lynn, will definitely frequent more often.

Freshly cooked fish to order, nice size. Chips portions large, we have two standard portions with three fish. Decent chippy.

This shop for many years was our favourite local fish and chip shop, as a treat from healthy eating we got fish and chips from here last night at 7pm. Sadly fish did not seem freshly cooked and chips were only warm and again did not seem freshly fried. Next time we have a treat we will try elsewhere!
