We came for a family dinner as we were staying in the hotel. Drinks took a long time to come. The food took forever! We waited about 50/60 minutes. The kids were starving. Burgers were black and burnt to a crisp as were the buns, a long piece of thread was found in my husband’s burger. They were inedible. We complained and waited for more burgers to come which took so long we gave up and said not to bother. We didn’t want to eat anything after seeing the state of the food. Chips were ok. Waiting staff were pleasant and apologetic. They removed the food from the bill. I would never eat here again - the chef should not be in this job.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn which is definitely worthy of 4* for the current price . Their restaurant does not match. As "Cow on the Hill" one would expect a reasonable choice of steaks even allowing for COVID and recent opening. However , the inaccessible app menu was read by a waiter who ran through standaub type starters , mains of burgers etc and just one steak - a sirloin. We ordered a medium and medium rare. What arrived was the plus side of medium and a very well done . My wife ate the medium + but I sent the other back and it took 25 minutes to deliver another steak- this time cooked m/r. That should take 10 mins max. 3 mins each side and a few minutes rest. I expect far better for a £21 8oz sirloinsteak ( plus £2 for sauce) On top, two glasses of fairly ordinary Rioja were £9.95 each, above the price that the bottle probably costs in atypical off licence. Maybe COVID influenced the offering but its hardly an incentive to come back

Not eaten here for over a year. Disappointed with the food, ordered a Medium cooked steak came out over done. No peppercorn sauce. Mac & cheese was not that at all- More like pasta with melted cheese on. Won’t be returning. Don’t waste your money here

had a daily breakfast,selection of cooked food, cereals, fruit, meat and cheese as well as tea, coffee and juices. Also ate in the bar which was very good and value for money.

Not the cheapest, but I have to say I was worried after seeing some of the reviews, in all a very nice steak, far far better than the tat at Ego! Would we return, yes no problem.

Not impressed food cold at dinner and in the morning . When we complained we were advised to get in earlier . We did the next day it was still cold Asked for the surcharge to be taken off and shunted between restaurant manager and reception still could not get it removed. Not impressed with room which should have been an executive . Couldn’t open the safe .plugs not working in bath room sink . Room cleaning left a lot to be desired. Staff needed training . Ordered a taxi it never came ..reception forgot to order .no heating in the room ....provided with a portable heater. Kings size bed was two singles put together .

Here for a Black Tie event and it's dreadful. Poor service and the food was shocking. I had pork which was stone cold and I sent it back. Those that had chicken said it was tough. My pork was stuck in the microwave and returned. It was inedible. The staff weren't interested, didn't seem to be well trained and certainly not able to cope with problems. As for the Chef, he should be ashamed sending out food like that. If I was the owner I would be looking for a new Chef. My advice Stay away. Probably the worst meal I've had.

Had an excellent meal at the restaurant, food was cooked well and quick service. No complaints would return.

Nice enough place to eat. Smallish portions but enough for me. Had steaks. Very nice. The negatives? Automatic service charge on bill so I asked for another bill without. I prefer to choose. And when we did pay, we were stopped by the desk to check we werent scooting off without paying! Bacon at self service breakfast had long black hair around it. Having said all that, I would be tempted to try again as its a nice hotel.

Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant while staying at the hotel. Couldn't fault it. Service was efficient and friendly, food was well cooked and tasty.

This restaurant is part of the Holiday Inn. The connected lounge was a nice stop prior to eating. Once in the restaurant the staff was polite and punctual. I ordered the beef pie from the menu. It came in short order. It was well prepared and had flaky crust. It was a good choice!

We visited on 3 July with 2 other couples to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. The waiter dropped a g&t over one of the guys we were with, which he just shrugged off, no apology, just asked if he wanted some more serviettes to mop up with. Service was very slow all night, the last couple to arrive were not offered a drink for around 20 minutes - even after a drink had been dropped over him. Sourdough bread on the starter menu was not actually sourdough, the shortcrust pie turned out to be puff pastry & the creamed spinach was like spinach soaked in milk. I asked one waitress for the bill, another young girl then appeared with the bill in her hand and very rudely said can you have the bill please I need to cash up, to which I replied that I had actually just asked for it. There are better ways she could have asked us if we wanted the bill! She then proceeded to stand over us while we decided how to split the bill etc. The waiter that dropped the drink came over and we asked what was going to be done to compensate, as I would at least expect that drink to be taken off the bill. He just replied , well I made you a fresh one didn’t i!! Wow. We asked to have the service charge removed from the bill as the appalling service didn’t warrant the amount on the bill. This then took nearly 20 minutes for them to figure out how to do it. Food was fine - I recommend the sweet potato fries. But I will not be returning.

Die Steaks und die entsprechende Auswahl an Beilagen ist schon fast Standard in England. Steak, Tomate und Pilze... fast schon wie in jedem anderen Hotel hier geboten. In Punkto Fleischqualität auch normal, von gehobenem Steakhaus darf man hier nicht sprechen. Jedoch ist das Essen ok und schmeckt gut.

Ordered our meals. I ordered chicken supreme but when it came it was half a roast chicken. When I pointed it out that it was not what I ordered I was told that chicken supreme was not on the menu that night . WHAT? Sent it back and ordered a steak. No steak knife came with the steak so struggled to cut it until restaurant manager came over and one was quickly produced. Told him that chef should NEVER have taken it upon himself to just substitute a meal and that the waitress should have been sent back to our table to ask us to order something else. This restaurant is in a 4 star hotel for goodness sake.

I had visited with colleagues, menu had a lack of options particularly for my colleague who was vegetarian. Food was average, nothing special.

I use this hotel a fair bit but generally avoid hotel restaurants if possible as I never find their food or service particularly appealing.

My partner and I were taken here by a friend. The menu is quite varied and the service good. However, we did feel it was rather expensive for what was ok food. My partner is vegetarian and had a burger which he was not keen on due to an odd taste.My friend and I had rump steak, which was served with chunky chips,a mushroom and a plum tomato. We opted for pepper sauce. The cost of this was £22 which we both felt was too much for the quality of ingredients. None of us fancied a dessert so we had a cheese board each. For £7.50 it was pretty mediocre, with bland cheese and very few crackers.

I stay regularly at the hotel this is attached too for work purposes. The food is always good (Lovely Pie and Steaks are good) and generously portioned but the service is excellent. Every single waiter and waitress is polite, friendly and very attentive. It is also very relaxing. I will continue to use the restaurant for as long as I am staying in the area.

Dined with a colleague. Fairly basic menu and limited wine list. However food was well cooked and presentation ok. The waitresses were very pleasant and obliging.

On 12.06.2018 14 of my colleagues and myself came to the Holiday Inn, Bromsgrove for a meal and to celebrate a retirement. The service I received prior to the evening when booking was fabulous, the lady I dealt with was Laura.

We were taken here by our friends for my wife's birthday and had a great meal.

High end restaurant decor and the food was excellent. Just a shame that the menu is not more varied and doesn’t extend further past the grill and steaks. Service was friendly and professional.

This is not a cheap restaurant but you get what you pay for. Lovely food and brilliant service. A very nice experience.

Reserved table for four at 7:30, however had no record of reservation even though we had a reference. Ordered steak with jacket but turned up with chips. Sent it back only for it to come back 5 mins later to say they had no jacket potato. Sent it back again requesting potato mash. Eventually came back and as with the three other mains was served on a cold plate.

We are at the restaurant last night for my mother in laws birthday. We haven't been before. We reserved a table for 6pm as we had two small chdren with us. We were seated in a great table with a view and the waitresses were great with the kids.

We ate here on the Friday evening, Once the steaks came out from the kitchen, all the waitress were told it was a medium fillet/rump.. So the other people at our table were cutting into medium rare when they ordered medium well done as none of us new how it was cooked.

Fabulous dinner, exceptional meat....very juicy and steaky.... get in my belly.... nom nom nom. Becky was a delightful addition to our dining meaty experience. Should we choose to frequent this establishment again it goes without saying that will of course without a shadow of a doubt ,without any delay in decision, without judgement or penalty.... we will always ask for the wonderful Becky....go forth and be awesome.....fist rump!

The staff were working quite hard, but this was really busy and people were having to wait for table. Food was fine if a little slow in being served, but all in all this was good food, and not overly expensive.

We were staying over at the Holiday Inn and not wanting to travel back in to Bromsgrove opted for the on site Cow on the Hill, couldn't book through reception so booked on line. Prompt service, helpful and polite, clean surrounding. Food came pretty quick, good portions but a bit pricey as others have noted, I guess it's a matter of convenience. Overall happy.

We were staying in the Holiday Inn that it was linked to and we thought we should eat here. We were seated immediately and given our menus. Once we ordered, the starters took quite a while to come, once we got them they were fairly small and in particular the lamb was extremely chewy. The childrens menus starters were also not adequate size for children. We ordered our mains, the chips were undercooked so we asked if we could put them back in for a bit longer. The waitress came back with the same chips saying she couldn't put them back in. The food was okay, but not the greatest. The atmosphere was not so good. Because we were in the hotel, we came back the next morning to have breakfast which was a great improvement, buffet selection was good and the food was very tasty. I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast but not for dinner.

Me and my partner were staying in the hotel and as we arrived late we thought we would give the onsite restaurant a try. The menu seems a little limited, however I opted for a steak pie and mash. Very glad I did it has to be one of the best I've tasted and more than ample portion wise. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and I enjoyed the meal I would definitely eat here again.

Met friends here for what was supposed to be a lovely relaxing evening over good food. Menu pricey but was happy to pay for good food. Waiting staff nice but not confident. The Chateau Briande ordered as medium arrived totally overdone and could have been used to sole our shoes. My sweet potato wedges were raw. We were told it wasn't the usual chef which shouldn't make any difference for consistency. Two of us had to eat our food before it went cold while the other two grazed on their sides while waiting for a second Briande. It arrived medium as requested but they were full by the time it arrived. One waitress said she'd o ly charge half for the Briande while another said a free bottle of wine. Chaotic, poor food and just not worth a return visit. Really ruined our reunion.

I had a business meeting and as I know the hotel well I decided to use the restaurant. The decor is really nice and the girls looked after us although you could tell they lacked a little experience. The food was great mid range price and the steak was cooked perfectly.

I was into the holiday inn as a guest so I decided to try even the new restaurant...

Stayed at the Hotel but found the menu to be expensive for what you were getting ,we had the fish & chips with mushy peas the fish was slightly over done and the mushy peas were very runny. Breakfast though was very good as were the staff

Stayed at the HI for 4 days and 3 nights and ate in The Cow on The Hill twice.

Food not bad but a limited menu, not much else around this location. Sides are expensive. Wine list is quite good.

Stayed overnight at the holiday inn which overall was a poor experience however the breakfast was very good with comfortable surroundings. Very welcoming male member of staff greeted me and took my bag, very happy and singing along he was and so nice to see a happy face first thing!

Holiday inns new restaurant has opened with a bright new look with fawn leather and hanging decanter lights. The menu is small, covering fish, vegetarian and their new steaks. I spent 3 evenings there with a large family party and also just the 2 of us.

Here for almost 3 weeks with work, dinner here most days, food is great, good selection of different cuisines, I recommend the steak! Daily specials also. Staff really polite and helpful. Would definitely come back here again.

We tried the Cow on the Hill shortly after it opened and had a dreadful experience. However we live locally and want to support any new restaurant so decided to put the first time down to teething troubles and tried again.

I rarely put a review on Trip Advisor these days, so it says a great deal that I am posting this. Last night we had one of the worst dining experiences in a long time at the Holiday Inn in Bromsgrove at its newly opened restaurant ‘The Cow on the Hill’.
