We came here with family for a hearty breakfast. The service was quite good and the coffee was very good. We found the menu quite limited, and the food got mixed reviews from different members of the party. Ultimately has stacks of potential but does seem to fall slightly short on many counts. Definitely a “cool” brunch spot.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We went to Cow & Co on Thursday lunch time with a view to getting a bite to eat. The reviews we'd read looked promising so we thought we'd give it a go. Well, we didn't get to eat, what a let down. The two of us walked into an empty café about 1.15 and sat down in anticipation. The girl at the counter glanced at us and then completely ignored us. Perhaps I didn't have the right 'funboy' haircut, lacked a waxed moustache and wasn't wearing half mast and checkered Hoxton trousers? There was not even an acknowledged "I'll be with you soon". Furthermore there were no menus on any of the tables for us to peruse whilst we waited. I have no problem at all with waiting but to be completely ignored is out of right out of order. The girl then made time for a couple of grandiose creeps with an expensive looking camera, who started throwing some vapid shapes AFTER we came in. Wannabee somethings who would fit right into this world of arty farty pretension. Finally some vacuous looking type appeared and we thought "Oh, at last..." But no. Matey boy proceeded to bring out his own lunch, sit down at a table and begin to eat whilst flicking through one of the utterly ostentatious looking magazines that littered the, frankly shabby, interior. No doubt Rectal Body Art Periodical or some such garbage. With that, and after nearly 10 minutes, we got up and left. Who wants to eat overpriced 'artisan toast' with kale anyway? We went to The Hub on Hanover Street instead and had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. Oh, and by the way, your website is a year out of date. You're advertising things 'Just Arrived' and 'Summer Salads' with June 2017 dates. Or is this irony and "It's vintage Darling......" Beauts.

I'm never a person to leave reviews but feel compelled to lest it prevents others feeling as I do. The location itself is gorgeous, coffee gorgeous and food with potential to be so. The experience was let down by the customer service. Although the place is tiny and only two other customers were present, it took thirty five minutes for my partner and I to receive our order - two sandwiches (we were informed on ordering - "no bagels."). My order was not what I'd hoped but I accept this may be my own doing, having ordered "the bacon sandwich" and receiving just that, rather than with all the extras stated on the menu (avocado, tomato etc). When paying, my partner clarified we would not be expected to pay full price for aforementioned sandwich - we were told no before being charged full price. I tried to address this with the barista who was largely silent and insisted he had not charged me full price, eventually showing me (silently) the bill coming to 10.95 - despite having just charged us 11.50. The offending 55p was silently delivered to my hand without sign of apology. The overall experience left us feeling less like customers and more as hindrances.

Our first trip in to Liverpool and my partner requested to have lunch at 'a cute cafe' to which we googled and saw The Cow&Co Cafe. We were not disappointed! Very cosy inside, with outside seating and additional seating upstairs, pleasant music also! A lovely girl was serving and taking our requests and was incredible how she managed to do everything herself and kept a smile on her face. It was quite busy, to which the girl (I wish I'd got her name) coped very well with, she was very engaging with all the customers and continued to apologise for the wait, which with manners like hers and her customer service, was no problem at all. It was such a pleasure to be greeted and treated in this way, and being made sure we were satisfied. The food was delicious, as well as the hot chocolates that we ordered, which also came with a lovely heart milk art on the top! We paid at the end for our order, to which the girl gave us 10% discount for the delay, which was no inconvenience due to how well she treated us. However, it was very polite of her to do so! If and when we return to Liverpool, we shall definitely be returning and will be recommending to anyone I know visiting Liverpool too.

Hidden away from Liverpool one is one of my favorite cafés in Merseyside. For the better part of four years I lived in Australia where a good coffee is one of the most important part of everyone's morning. When I returned to England I tried to find somewhere, anywhere in Liverpool that made good coffee . I admit I am a coffee snob . I am hard to please . But ever morning I buy a flat white at the cow and co and I am happy. I am so happy to have found this place! The staff are friendly, warm and actually very funny if you get to know them. The cafe itself is clean, well look after and just the right amount of hipster to seem new while still making you feel welcome . Even when its busy it doesn't feel crowed and they staff do there best to keep up with orders . The food is outstanding but sadly I don't get the time to eat there as much as I would like to ( but try the cake ! Cake for breakfast ! Don't worry no one will judge you ! ) . I feel slightly defensive of Cow & Co in regards to the previous review as I've been coming here for over a year (jumped on the indie bandwagon???) and not once has any of the waitress's/ waiter behaved how he described and far from pretentious. Firstly, it was quite hard to find the location of the cafe but I didn't mind that, as people were very helpful to give directions on the way.The worst thing is that as you walk into the cafe there is a steep step down that must definitely be a health and safety breach. I fell on my knees and the staff said nothing and didn't even ask if I was alright! Another customer helped me to my feet and said she did exactly the same thing when she walked in. Whilst I was in the cafe another woman came in and fell down the step too! The cafe owner really needs to sort this out because it is a dangerous hazard. In the cafe's defense, there is a sign hanging in the front door window saying 'Mind the Step' written on a chalkboard but as it is hanging behind the cafe opening times it is difficult to see and not a visible enough warning. Plus, whilst in the cafe I heard the staff talking to each other about how people should look where they are walking, referring to the lethal step - but how many people look at their feet when they open a door and walk into a cafe?! I thought the staff were very unsympathetic and unreasonable to make these comments - definitely not customer focused. However, on the up side the food is fresh and delicious! I had a cream cheese, thyme and tomato sandwich and really enjoyed it. The pot of Assam tea was lovely too but I was disappointed it could not be accompanied with a cake as they had run out (it was only 12.30pm on a Thursday!).The atmosphere was nice and it was a good place to come for a peaceful lunch or even better a takeaway to avoid overhearing the staff who had a sort of 'student-snobbery' in that they were pleasant to fellow students but less warm and friendly to people who were not students which was disheartening to see. Customer service could definitely be improved.Overall, I won't be in a rush to visit The Cow & Co Cafe again but as I now know where it is I may grab a takeout sandwich but will be extra vigilant to 'mind the potentially neck-breaking step!!!!!'

I really liked this cafe, I like the food they serve, and the fact they sell vegan options! They don't really offer much choice of food though. I love the decor of the shop. It has a really nice, relaxed vibe and I love the way they sell lots of different teas. It's a hidden gem as the location is not somewhere obvious, but I am glad I went!

Went by here for some lunch and though service is a little slow (only two staff members), they told us that it would be a few minutes for coffee and bagels to be ready. Nice scene and atmosphere and would really like to come down for coffee and for a calm, nice place to work. The bagels we had were delicious (taleggio, balsamic blueberries and rocket). Slightly pricey but overall really nice food and I would come back definitely.

This is an interesting Arty little Cafe hidden away, but only round the corner from John Lewis. The concept is good and its location is very different but the menu is limited and the advertised Homemade Soup and roll was off the menu. I had the bacon spinach and tallegio sandwich which was tasty but the bacon was streaky and reheated. Coffee was good and served in quirky cups. The staff were friendly although one was scoffing food while she was serving, I guess she must have been hungry. The Cafe also sells some of its products from its online shop.

This is listed in the top dozen coffee shops to visit in Liverpool and deservedly so. Only small and hidden away in Cleveland Square which is just to the rear of the Police HQ building. Good selection of snacks and cakes, I tried the meringue which was very nice. Coffee is very good and prepared by people who know what they are doing. Support these independent coffee shops and stay away from the chains, you will notice the difference.

This little gem is to be found just across from Albert Dock and by the garden created on the site of an old church. Sat outside enjoying a mellow coffee and a slice of delicious marmalade and almond cake - brought out to the table by the friendly staff.

Came here for a late breakfast as waffles were advertised on the board outside, however weren't available when we went inside. The coffees (two lattes) were lovely, however when our bacon sandwiches came I was very disappointed. Reheated, fatty chunks of bacon, and when I asked for ketchup (which you'd think would be standard anywhere that serves breakfast) was told that they don't do it. Really disappointed considering the price.

Went here for breakfast and although the staff were friendly and the cafe was cute it took around 35 minutes to get a bagel with Nutella and banana! As there was one staff member I think they need to up their game and employ more. Probably the type of cafe people will only go once. Slow service!

Beautifully kept and presented little café with a short but interesting brunch menu - bagels, waffles et al. I went for a bacon, spinach, & tallegio bagel, a bit different and delicious with crisp salty bacon, iron-ey spinach, and intense cheese on a brilliant sea salt and fiery jalapeno bagel. My partner had a nutella and banana bacon which was packed with chocolate and looked fab. All of the above with an orange juice and macchiato set us back a little over £12 - brilliant value, not to be missed.

Made up I've found this little coffee spot in town. It's in a great location just around the corner from the madness of L1 and just over from The Albet Dock. Our coffees were really tasty, I had a soy latte and it was so smooth. I also really appreciated the funky mug it came in, nice crockery is always a bonus! The cafe itself is proper cute and relaxed, I even noticed some blankets if you wanna sit outside. Nice touch. Will be back.

Sit in Cow&Co listening to music over an excellent coffee and a view out over the square and you could be forgiven for thinking you were in, say, Amsterdam, not a city centre. Not cheap but definitely chilled and worth the 5 minute walk for Liverpool One.

This little cafe is totally unique in Liverpool and the coffee is the best in the city. Really relaxed atmosphere and great music. Wooden boards of cake and sweet treats on the counter looked amazing but I had the YUMMIEST fresh bagel overflowing with chorizo and manchego. Picked up a couple of magazines I've only found in the Tate Modern previously, and they have lots of cool homewares on display so bought a vase as a gift, too. I think they have a bigger shop online.Looks good, sounds good, tastes good. I'll be back for weekend waffles! x

From the outside this place looks like a nice cafe on the opposite side of the main road to Albert Dock. In a party of 3 we entered and as there were no seats available downstairs we asked the lady serving if there was a table upstairs. She checked, there was, and we went upstairs. However nobody appeared to clean the pots from the previous occupants nor to wipe the table of crumbs. We did this.We then placed our order at the till for two 'bacon avocado and cream cheese' sandwiches and one 'chorizo, manchego and red pepper' sandwich. These were priced at £4.45 each we also fancied the 'san pellegrino blood orange' drink and ordered 3 at £1.75 each. We seemed to wait a lifetime for these to arrive and when they did the waitress realised the chorizo sandwich had been replaced by humous by the cook. Hence we still had to wait a lifetime for that sandwich and eat separately. The size of the sandwiches is very small for the price paid. Also the drinks did not arrive until the food had almost been eaten. I at first thought that the delay was due to sqeezing so many oranges. However when the drinks finally arrived they were tins of gassy tasteless pop - at £1.75 each - a rip off. I would not recommend this cafe to others.

On a grey December morning, shambling towards the ultra modern steel & glass of Liverpool One I noticed the stylish deep blue awning shading the large and lovely victorian shop front windows and outside tables of Cow & Co Cafe. The cobbles and trees of the little square in front and the proximity of the river, not visible, but present nevertheless, giving it a feel of Copenhagen or a quiet corner of Amsterdam; I bet it would be a gorgeous spot to sit out on sunny afternoon! I hadn't intended treating myself to a peaceful interlude in between my morning chores, but its welcoming interior minimally cluttered with comfortable seating and tables from some clever Danish designer and metal and bare wood shelves with nicknacks and books was too hard to resist. A perfect Cortado and Sourdough Toast with Blueberry Jam (the kind where the berries look freshly picked from some verdant spruce forest in the far north) provided more than enough deliciousness to lure me back to try some of the other morsels on the menu, which includes cakes, bagels and waffles. It is the kind of cafe that anybody who has ever wanted to open a cafe would wish to create.

The food options are great but unfortunately takes so long to come! I love going on my lunch hour because it is quiet and the ambiance is chilled out, but I can't finish my sandwich and coffee in there in an hour because it takes sometimes 40mins to actually getting everything you've ordered! The coffee as well as the service is very poor. I'm quite a coffee addict and when i was younger I was trained by an Italian barista so I think I have a certain expectation. I was disappointed when I asked if my coffee shot could be poured over my hot water not the other way round. (I know this sounds fussy) it's just I have black coffee and I like it strong so if it's done a shot of coffee first it tastes burnt. Normally they accommodate and do it for me but today the lady seemed very confidant in explaining that they do the coffee first and that's the way they do it. I politely asked if I could have my coffee the way I would like it as after all I'm paying! I found her quite rude. Won't be going back any time soon
